- Chilling next to the Danube river in Budapest is one of the best things you could do during Summer when you visit Hungary. In this video we'll show you some of our recommendations if you wish to get close to the Danube, relax and have a few drinks or snacks while in Budapest.
In this video we are covering the following areas:
Kopasz Gát - A dam on the southern side of Buda, which can be accessed with Bus 105 from the city center. It offers lots of green space and some nice bistros with terraces.

Dürer Kert - A concert venue on the south side of Buda where you can enjoy a few drinks and also some snacks and sit right next to the water. You can visit the place even if you don't wish to go to a concert (when the events are held inside the concert hall). Easy to reach with Bus 133.

Római Part - At the Northern end of Buda there is this long strech known as the Roman Banks. With many bistros spread out, it's a relaxing place to have drinks and food.

Bálna - Perhaps less chill but easy to access thanks to it being close to the Fővám tér. An old industrial building redesigned to be a commercial space with lots of food and drink places.

Népsziget - At the Northern side of Pest we have this place with many bistros lined on the shores of the Danube. It's worth the trip with Subway M3 and a little bit of walk as you can also get a nice view of the sunset from here.

Can you go swimming is the river? And if so, where are some good places?
Hey there! Unfortunately swimming is not allowed at most places along the Danube River (including ones listed in this video) there are a few designated beaches here and there but those are a bit further away from Budapest. (like Szentendre, Nagymaros, or Ráckeve)
Don't underestimate the Danube, there are strong currents that might take you downstream...
