We loved Margaret Island. You are right, the light show of the Music Fountain is really beautiful at night with the illuminating lights. We say down for awhile. We enjoyed exploring the old ruins. I have been to the Palatinus once in the 80s and once again in 2021. We went to a Caramel concert at Margitszigeti. It was amazing. Stay Fluffy! (Eric)
I was for 2 days there last November and I haven't seen many things. I want to go back and visit Budapest one more time, on a sunny day if a preference next time. 😊 maybe in March if the weather is not too cold?
Thank you so much! While I personally like Ruin Bars and Thermal Baths but I can definately agree, Budapest has so much else to offer for people to enjoy :)
I enjoy your videos so much! Thank you for helping tourists figure out the BEST way to enjoy your beautiful city. Are most attractions on Margaret Island open/operating in mid-March (like the buggy rental places and the fountain)?
It kind of depends on the weather, Mid march is usually okay for the buggy rides to be out and available, however the fountain usually operates only from the end of April till end of October. The indoor thermal pool area of Palatinus Beach operates all year round. Margaret Island is generally a nice and peaceful place to visit during the spring. 😊
Thank you! I'm sad about the fountain, but hoping for some mild spring weather so we can enjoy the other outdoor attractions on the island. @StuffedCabbageAdventures
Végre egy olyan személy készít minőségi videókat Budapestről, aki ott is él, és nem csak a “kötelező” helyeket tudja bemutatni! Lehetne valamikor videó a Normafáról is? 🙏
Enjoying this video thank you. Just wondering if the musical fountain etc is operating at night and all year round please, as I will be there in October and would love to go there at night! Cheers from Australia
Hey there! It doesn't, because the Music festival (Sziget Festival) is on a different island further north. There may be a bit more people on the island during this time but it doesn't get crazy or too crowded at all :)
Great video! We are there for a concert in August in the open air facility. I imagine it will be quite busy. Without a car, which transportation can we take from csalogany utca that will not be stuck in traffic 😅
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures great! Hope u will have any when I go ... april 25 🙏🙏 By the way, I've watched ur video and is very good and useful! May I ask what about security al night in the Island? I have a reservation in Island Hostel but I want to do the river cruise and I m afraid when I return at 11pm. Thanks in advance.
I've been to Budapest many times, and I like Margaret Island, but what I find surprising is that I've hardly met any local Hungarian's. Most of the people I've met over there are other tourists, some Hungarian's have been friendly but most just go about their business, I guess they're just used to so many visitors.
I guess it depends on when you visit, during weekdays most people work and maybe if they live close they will go to the local bars and hang out in the evening. I think more locals visit on weekends and do picnic there. Many people also visit the Palatinus Beach :)
Interesting you bring that up. I'm a local and haven't been in ages. I just went a few weeks ago and was stunned at how nice (and also popular it is). And I had the same impression about thd tourists, too. I guess it's a case of being too 'obvious' for most of us lol. Like I knew what it looked like and that it was nice, but haven't even crossed my mind to go there in literally decades. If I'm on holiday, I'm usually relaxing at home or out of town entirely. But I think I'll change my ways now.
Yeah, sometimes even as a local we miss out on things because - as you rightfully put it - being too obvious :) But time to time it's nice to remind ourselves about these places and enjoy them :)
From what I see on the website of one of the buggy ride rental places it costs 5.900 HUF (about 15 euros) for 30 mins and 7.900 HUF (around 20 euros) for 60 mins. Should be the same across the rest of the rental places there. Don't be suprised that they usually ask for an ID as a deposit until the buggy is returned.
What is your favorite activity on Margaret Island? Do you have any nice memories of the place? Feel free to share your experiences with us!
Can’t wait! yay
Oh I like the tour of this island thank you! And it looks like you can pick up picnic stuff right there

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Island. It is often overseen as just another park but there is just so much to do there :)

Hey there! The Musical fountain usually runs until the end of October and operates until about 10 pm. So you'll have an opportunity to enjoy it 😊
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures Oh okay, wonderful, thanks! I’ll look forward to it! Cheers
How crazy does this island get during the summer music festival?
