They are not the most beautiful, but they're made with passion. This is the automobilism.
I'll give it a like man just because at the end of the video you said it wasn't a pro job .. you knew what u wanted An got it done so props for that.. here's a few tips for next time... 1 that load resistor gets very hot An will melt plastic, always mount them to metal and away from any wires.. 2 never use a baking sheet to bake lights.. use wood because if you leave lights on cooking sheet the heat can not move around the light, it stays at the cooking sheet An can melt the light assembly .. 3 your schematics on the paper you drew up is not the correct way to wire that said set up.. 2 resistors and a diode should be used. Than you'd be able to make 1 single led strip be used as a running light and brake light just like the factory dual filament bulb..
Thank you man, I really appreciate that! I'll definitely use that next time I work on them. Also, thanks for not being a jerk about it too, I'm learning, and the feedback you gave really helped. Thanks a lot man!
Phil With Super no problem man.. hey everyone starts somewhere ya know.
Michael Palmisano a year later and this was wholesome af
How do you add the resistors and diode?
This is how it’s done
The out takes that were left in made this video awesome!
Dude this definetly helped out alot, thanks. I went along and tried my own version for my 74 super beetle.
nice work mate, not a bad effort and good execution. watching at 3 AM lmao
1 am :D
if you every think about re doing these id suggest using the led tube strips there already diffused and are flexible, look em up mane
Great job Phil! Loved the video. Gonna have to try this out. Heaps of excellent information in here.
16:43🤣😭🤣😭🤣😭🤣
When you mix Sour and Soft together!
Thank you for making this for my same exact model
13:59 😂😂😭😭
I really wanted to see how to take the taillights off and interior trim pieces cause I just got my 3 piece lights and I wanna convert it
Pretty freakin cool!
Phil is super!
Nice video, nice made
thanks for showing how to delete the lamp failure box now i don't have that annoying light on my dash
Keep the good videos up
Thanks!
now i have idea for my rearlamp tq bro
turned out nice
Resistor needs to be mounted on a metal piece, it will give off alot of heat & will melt the lens & may cause a fire.
Thats what I was thinking as he zip tied it in there 😂
Nice Job Phil
I’ve done some but haven’t done any tutorial
I should do one too not to compete but to show different ways of doing it.
You definitely should! I'm still learning and it's obviously not the clearest thing in the world to understand, so having another source would help people trying to do it a lot
Phil With Super
I will star taking pics and vids on my next project
If you check my channel you can see some I did for Supra
But only the final test.
I just checked that out! Well done! Those look amazing
Thanks Phil
Best way to learn is to just start 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice Shorts!
thanks mate!
Dude... FUCKING AWESOME. FINALLY A DECENT VIDEO PERTAINING TO THE REAR TAIL LIGHT! WOOT
Video is so informative good shit
Thank you!
This is cool
nice vid, probably gonna do it also on mine 👌🏻
Aye that'll be sick!
Great video , i dare say one of the best
you need to sand the inside of the lenses clear in order to take away the material which diffuses the lights, that is why they are blurry.
How will you make the LED a little clearer when it project out of the red lens? It seems a little blurry.
That's just my camera, it doesn't do so great at night shots
It’s all right.
this was shockingly helpful (no offense) so with that, the funny attitude and the "Super boring" caption, you my friend get a sub
You're an absolute legend. Thank you bro
One possible issue.
.the load resistors get hot and being inside the light housing may cause too much heat
That resister is made to sit on a heatsink. What is the ohm value? A 12 ohm would allow 1 amp at 12VDC which is 12 amps. Lower ohms means more current and more wattage/heat. Wattage/Power is equal to voltage x current. I don't understand the parallel arrangement. A current limiting resister should be in series with an LED to control the current thru it. Also it looked like he had the running lights and brake lights wired together. They should be two separate circuits because one is on when the car is running. The brake controls the brake light.
looks better than pre 89 taillights
Thank you!
Hey i like how you bypass yor lights whitout box.i have same problem on my 91 supra .warninf lights on dash stay on but tailights works.did i can bypass same way on my 91 supra ?
Good shit
I saw many things that were wrong, but read some comments and some people helped you, by pointing them out, but another tip I can give you is, do not use hot glue for anything inside or outside a car, 1 hot enough day and it will completely melt.
Thanks man! This was my first time and I could use all the help I can get. I'm sure I missed quite a lot
I'd rather diy than pay someone else to do it. They didn't turn out to bad, they looked pretty good but damn man, you broke out the cut off sweat pant shorts!!haha .......nostalgic
I want to do this on a Mazda 3 2012 hatchback, however, any ideas to how would I wire a car that has lights on the boot as in when you lift the boot the lights are separated so to get the continuous water flow indicator look would I need a delay or just wire one strip to the other strip and then wire that to the indicator terminals, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks guys and great video!!!
Each light (the one on the boot and the one not) should have their own plugs. So essentially what you would have to do is to wire each one individually. They will both blink at the same time that way.
If you want them to blink separately, I believe running a resistor and capacitor would work, as it takes time for a capacitor to charge up before it emits the current through it.
Omg i found a decent video time to do some cressida things
Just a tip if I may: Please show the finished effect at the start of the video so that the viewer knows if this is what he/ she is looking for. I couldn't find the finished look even at the end section and I'm not going to spend 20 min going through all of it to see if this is what I want.
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I tried to help by putting the finished result in the thumbnail, but I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks again for the suggestion
it's hard to follow how to make it
How tall are you, and do you think someone 6’5” would fit comfortably in a MK3
I'm 6'2", and you'd definitely fit well
Where are you in Oregon
West Salem
If I have a heat gun is better? And sorry if u already say so but its difficult to hear.
if you're talking about separating the lense from the base, then no, the oven is much easier
Phil With Super nice thx...
5 outta 10 for effor.... 1 outta 10 for final result...
I mean you could get a "at least your tried" sticker.
Just advice for the future, it's much better to swap out your blinker repay for an LED blinker relay instead of adding a load resistor. Eliminates the hyperflash, but it doesn't waste electricity and it doesn't generate a bunch of heat that could melt stuff. It blows my mind why people still use load resistors tbh.
because LED blinker relays are increasingly becoming harder to find or get a hold of
@@SUP3RDRUMM3R I don't know where you are that this is the case, but I was able to go to my local parts store and get one for my car, which is an unpopular car for modifying.
How would you wire the relay? Please, could you tell me?
@@diegomartinez4451 Your car should already have a blinker relay installed by the factory. If you have a compatible LED blinker relay, simply locate the original one in your car, and swap them out. This should require no extra wiring.
@@champagnelewis7049 Then it is not necessary to put another relay if you're swapping old bulbs with leds? you can just build a led tail-light and put it in without any extra things?
Video starts at 20:14
I like how you say... Don't forget to dislike.. Good man who accepts the criticism. 👍👏
Keeps it fun haha
Dont set them on metal, use wood so it doesn,t make hot spots
Based on the way you did the wiring, it looks to me like your brake and parking lights will be the same bulb / LED combination at the same brightness. If I'm correct, that's really dangerous since it gives zero warning to the people behind you when you step on the brakes!
That is correct for the LED's, but I left one of the two stock bulbs in, so when you hit the brakes the whole light brightens
Interesting... is there a noticeable difference at night? I'm picturing yours looking like the right hand side in this video: ua-cam.com/video/uoAQ-3mRlA0/v-deo.htmlm
Ahh gotcha, and yeah there is. Mine looks like the left hand side because I'm running the stock bulb, so I still get the big difference like normal. The main difference is the LED strip running around the edges. That part doesn't change brightness, but the rest of it does like normal
STOP with the hands!! you seem like a crackhead and its super annoying!!!! hate it!!!
RIGHT?!?!? I think it would have been better if I hadn't done crack right before shooting this, it would have looked a lot more professional
What part of oregon do you live in? Salem?
Yee, West Salem
Phil With Super
Do you like drifting?
Yeah, I'm a fan, but am more into road racing lol
Phil With Super
Would you be into coming to an event?
I'm always down, I'm usually working during PARC events, and I'd just go to watch lol
Name of car ??
Name is Yo Ma Ma Cuz
Thanks brother
Um that not a mk3 it's a s0 chassis aka long nose 240 gosh
my b
How’s that not a mk3? It’s a 3rd gen Supra
Da Da nah it’s a s chassis
Mk3 supra...
I've altering lights since the 80s, they used to drill plastic Diamonds into the lights, then clear lights came out in the 90s, then star trek looking lights, then black outs. it's old and played out! Keep your lights original and clean!
Tommy Hajimoto thats your opinion, everyone has their own style.
That looks terrible, dude. Instead of using separated led lights you shoulda used a strip
Fr, hindsight is always 20/20
