  • If you have a faded or damaged tail light lens then hopefully this video will help you out, either by doing what I did or just by some of the details and products within. This tail light lens got totally transformed in less than half a day! I reassembled it a couple of days later but the job took me just 4hrs total! Thanks for watching guys! ......SGG

Cool repair dude, can't believe how well that lens cleaned up before you started glueing the bits back in. Bangin' 🤠

That was definitely a good repair for a driver, keeps the car legal on the road well worth the effort.

Very cool repair! I think your right about spending the time versus spending the money at this stage of the project. It gets you passed inspection and on the road. The £250 can be spent elsewhere now!

Yep! Well done mate! I recently had a similar problem with my rear light after I backed my wagon into a wheel barrow in pitch darkness... (don’t ask..🙄some back into a post...or a gate...not me... who put that f#*£ing wheel barrow there? Oh... it was me...😂) so I pieced it together and I used that superglue gel stuff, lucky I found all the bits, like you, inside the lamp, then painstakingly glued it all back together. Funnily enough, that gel filled the cracks and imperfections, like a clear filler, then I lightly sanded the whole lens and polished it up, jobs a goodun! But as someone else mentioned, my reflectors were a bit shite, so fine sandpaper again and I used some chrome paint (that isn’t) but yeah, did the job and saved me a good few quid! Cost of shipping ( yep, spelt that right..) these days alone! Then the duty, not to mention the cost of the part! I love a bit of make do n mend, long may it continue! Lovin this project mate, you nearly done? Bit of T-Cut and polish, when do we go for a ride??? 🤠😎👍

Cheers Ru 😁 These lenses came up a treat! I did do the insides with some silver paint to help bring back the reflectiveness from inside the light. Yep, should be having a cut and polish starting this week fella. Then we're out for a classic car ride along 😎👍🏻 I'll keep my eyes peeled for incognito wheel barrows though mate 😁👍🏻

Another thing that happens to many tail-light assemblies is that the inside reflective metal surfaces get tarnished and corroded. This results in less light output. Often one tail light looks much darker than its mate on the other side. I managed to correct this by cleaning and smoothing the inside metal surface with some fine sandpaper or steel wool followed by a coating of bright aluminum paint from a spray can. It makes an amazing difference.

Yeah they had gone a bit like that on these ones. A clean up and (like you say) silver paint and the inside was ready to roll again 😁👍🏻
