Fun fact Led Zeppelin one of the first gigs was opening for a band called Iron Butterfly. The came out and blew everyone away Iron Butterfly refused to come out and play
FUN FACT(?)- Jimmy Page was the last of 3 great guitarists that played in the Yardbirds (Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck). The guys that had been in the band since about 1964-65, which was very popular with hits worldwide, from the start had, had enough of touring and all QUIT while touring the European continent. Page found the other three guys, named by justin king a month ago, and Led Zeppelin's first gigs, I believe in Scandinavia somewhere were billed as "The New Yardbirds" or "Jimmy Page's New Yardbirds" to fulfill some Yardbirds contractual obligations so the record or tour company didn't take a hit.
Those few seconds of silence after the song ends described it just fine. Speechless. It left you speechless. Led Zeppelin were and still are the greatest rock band the world has ever known.

Fun fact. These albums are recorded literally in hours. Not months or a yr. In the studio. Lunch breaks. Get out. Then let Jimmy work his magic and put it together.
I first saw them in spring of 1969. They were the warm up band for the headliners " Vanilla Fudge." No one had heard of them at that time, but needless to say, Vanilla Fudge did not play that evening. Led Zeppelin was on stage for 5 hours. The crowd would NOT let them go. Next day I went out and bought their first album. Four months later they were world renowned! An amazing night and memory!!!!!!
Led Zepplin's "Since Ive Been Loving You" LIVE at Madison Square Garden is a MUST see WITH HEADPHONES. OMG its the best (even if/when slightly baked (or not))...the Live version is so much better that the studio version.. I'm subscribing now.
fun fact - all the weird sounds that you were hearing during this song was jimmy page playing the guitar with a violin bow, worth checking out live. another fun fact, zeppelin are the G.O.A.T.S.
Fun “LZ I” fact: it was recorded in just 36 hours of studio time in 1968. The group had been together for maybe just a few months; the recording techniques utilized by Jimmy Page on the record set the tone for recorded music into the 1970s and beyond. Also, the bizarre sounds he makes with the guitar are him using a violin bow on the neck.
I saw Jimmy Page and Robert Plant in concert in Albany New York about twenty years ago. It still tops every concert I have ever seen. Neil Young, Mellencamp, Fogerty, Beck, Jackson Browne, Cheap Trick, all nothing in comparison. Total musical gods.
I was lucky enough to see them live at Earls Court, London in 1975. It cost me more than two weeks wages for the ticket, but was worth every penny. They are all exceptional artists, but the more you listen to each part, the harder it is to work out who is the most exceptional.
Fun Fact: Led Zeppelin recorded this and many other tunes at Hedley Grange, a notorious maison in England rooted in the occult. Some say the "supernatural" of this location possessed the group, and made for better music. Also, the layout of the home made for a challenging yet original recording set-up ultimately resulting in the unique and sexy sound. Oh yeah, and Jon Bonham.
I Love your Reaction ! Go through the Led Zepplin back catalogue and you will hear Greatness and trail blazing music everywhere !! The Greatest of All Time !! 👍🏻👍🏻
'WTF was that?!' That was Dazed and Confused, but just the short LP version. I cracked up at this reaction. Plant called the drugs then various cures for sleep for 3 days (or something like that). The Yardbirds did this song well, in a few different versions (not sure if Clapton played it with a violin bow?). Once Page owned it and Plant sang it, it became one of the most iconic and bazar rock songs recorded.
Fun fact, Led Zeppelin the band had known each other for three weeks before recording their first album which only took 36 hours and nobody can ever repeat that😮❤❤
Here's a fun fact for you: Drummer John Bonham was almost kicked out of the band in the first few weeks, because he played so loud, it supressed the sound of the other instruments. Luckily they kept him. He was 20 years old when they recorded this song.
I doubt that, once Page heard Bonham for the first time he knew he was the man for the job. I think Bonham may have had a double bass drum initially which was reduced to one however after touring with Vanilla Fudge in the late sixties, Carmine Appice set him up with the same kit arrangement as his own.
@@jayw8494 This doesn't mean Page didn't recognise him as a player, but it was a problem for him during rehearsals and gigs. Eventually he asked Peter Grant to talk to Bonzo about it, which he did, and the problem was solved.
Fact! And he broke several drum sticks when they were performing too. In some of their concert videos, you can see spare drum sticks within Bonzo's reach just in case.
When ZEPPELIN played songs like this...it's like they were saying We're gonna kick your ass up and down the street. They were playing second fiddle to no one from the beginning
Jimmy's face-melting solo on here is still definitive. But it's actually quite classical and you can see it reconfigured in western heavy metal for decades to come.
My favorite thing to do during quarantine is watch young hip hop enthusiast enjoy zeppelin for the first time. Each song is different and their influences come from blues. Soul. Reggae. Folk. You name it. Enjoy your ride sir. They are the true Gods of their elements. I wish I could of seen them live.
There's nothing like a clean, scratch lees, no must, no tears, original inner sleeve pure vibrational music. This group is soooo dang blasted good. At 70, I never get tired of them! Greatness never dies! P.S. I stil have a HUGE NM collection of the best Classics of the period. I'm a lucky girl! lol
Another fun fact: Page was one of the most highly regarded sessions guitarists in the early to mid 60s. He's credited on songs by The Who, The Kinks, Rolling Stones, 5 songs on Joe Cocker's debut album. He was good friends with Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. He was twice offered a position with The Yardbirds. Once to possibly replace Clapton, which he turned down in loyalty to his friend. When Clapton left in 65 he was offered the position again, which he turned down in favor of his sessions work. He suggested his friend Jeff Beck. He eventually joined the group after Paul Samwell-Smith abruptly left the band, coincidentally after a concert that Page attended and visited back stage. He offered to play bass for the band, which he did until switching to dual leads with Beck when Chris Dreja moved to bass.
Yours are my very favorite reactions to Led! Best band ever!!!! I was lucky enough to have grown up with 5 older siblings and this is what i heard my whole childhood 🔥
The debut album....mind-blowing. I saw Page/Plant together and I saw Robert Plant solo w/Phil Collins playing drums and I knew when I watched it that I was witnessing musical royalty. Incredible experience, but I'm jealous of all of those that got to see Zeppelin.
HEY!!! Thanks again for another LZ. The studio version is phenomenal BUT this is one you GOTTA do live!!! You gotta see how Page makes those sounds. Dazed and Confused was the original number for LZ's live show improvisations and they prided themselves on the tight jamming improvs they did live. Dazed was written with improvisation in mind. No LZ song was played exactly the same twice. The singer is Robert Plant, bassist - John Paul Jones and drummer (considered greatest rock drummer) John Bonham. They often recorded live (together) and then "overdubbed" other instrument parts on top of that. FUN FACT. Jimmy Page produced ALL of LZ's albums. He is considered an innovator in music production. LZ1, the album that Dazed is on, was recorded by the group in Sept/Oct 1968 and mastered/produced by Page in the same time period - in 30 hrs total. Unheard of!!!! The man is a genius on so many levels. Here are links to Dazed and Confused live - my favorite from Royal Albert Hall 1970 - 15 minutes (before they took on the look of "rock gods" - just them and the music) ua-cam.com/video/8WoQDpz7HOM/v-deo.html and the Madison Square Garden 1973 in full rock god mode - 29 minutes (MSG was used for the LZ movie The Song Remains The Same; parts of the filmed performance of Dazed may be from other nights' performances at MSG that week) This is Page at his absolute BEST!! ua-cam.com/video/ZQgYn23Xvck/v-deo.html THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE LIVE!!! BOTH PERFORMANCES ARE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 PS. drugs?? - pot/acid 😜😜

Fun fact in 1984 a dj named Carol Miller started a program called “Get the Led out. It played 3 Zep songs and gave facts about the band. The show is still broadcasted today on some rock stations.
Manager Peter Grant.. ex.wrestler and a Big guy...told John Bonham to wise up and follow the orders of Jimmy Page..Page is the leader of this group and that is final!
One of my fav reactions to this incredible song. Thx. I was coming go up when all this came out. I watched my brother and his friends play all these songs on their guitars. We were all stoned, no doubt.
That early entry second verse from Plant is indicative of a familiarity, not merely with blues, but with a kind of swing and jazz that would have been totally normal in his upbringing - indeed that of the wider band. That's why they have that flexing sense of rhythm. But they pin it down to something darker skied and British.
My fav Zep song...its so freaky and so far ahead of its time...1969 man! That's so crazy TVs were still black and white...men walked on the moon...Genius Masterpiece.
LED ZEPPELIN MADE THERE FIRST TWO ALBUMS IN 1969... GREW UP WITH THESE BANDS WHEN THE MUSIC WAS NEW....WILL NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT GETTING OLD BECAUSE THOSE CHILDHOOD, TEENAGE, YOUNG MAN, MEMORIES WERE THE ONLY TIME TO BE ALIVE...
You need to listen to "Bring It On Home" from LZ #2. What you're experiencing (and we're delighted for it) is Jimmy Page's mastery in arranging and mixing this so well.
Fun Fact: the reverb in the drums in “When The Levee Breaks” were recorded by placing the drum set at the bottom of a spiral staircase and placing 3 mics up on different steps.
Jimmy Page is a hero of mine and was the mastermind behind Led Zeppelin. They were so great because each member was a master at what they did I'd say. Jimmy was obsessed with the occult and even owned a book shop at one point for occult book, he was and still is a super intelligent guy! Very humble, he always said that when the 4 members performed together they created a 5th element because of what each member brought to the table. I've been playing guitar for 25 years and will never get close to the talent Jimmy had in his youth. They were young when they made these songs which blows my mind!
FUN FACT! Most of there mainstream hits are rock hits, but zeppelins roots are deep into old school blues, and its really relevant with the majority of there music
This song was originally written by American, Jake Holmes. Jimmy Page re-worked it and used to play it when he was in the band called The Yardbirds. After The Yardbirds broke up, he reworked it again and recorded it with his new band, Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin used to do a lot of improvisation with their songs when they played live and Dazed and Confused grew to become a showpiece for Jimmy Page. With improvisation, this song was easily expanded into a half hour to 45 minutes for this song alone. Back in the day, Zeppelin concerts would regularly be 3 or more hours long. Don't discount live performances; while it's true, Zep doesn't have tons of live footage, there is some. For example, this song has a half hour live performance that is available on UA-cam. My recommendation is do audio first so you hear the "official" sound, then do video, if one exists. After that, there are tons of bootlegs of live concerts so if you want live audio, ask and there are tons of Zep fans happy to help.
LP's have info imported/engraved on blank inner portion, often indicating who mixed the Pressing; often increasing the demand/price, tremendously. Fascinating stuff on those blank vinyl sections.
Fun fact about Led Zeppelin is both Page and Jones were studio session musicians who played on dozens of hit records before they ever went out on their own. And by then they knew everything they needed to know about recording music.

The Song Remains the Same\ The Rain Song at Madison Square Garden will show you their real talent and energy.
