I believe this song’s inspiration is originally this version is based off folk singer Jake Holmes’ version with the same title that Jimmy Page (Zeppelin Guitarist) beard performed. Original version is about an acid trip.
Capt. Nico Sparrow THANK YOU FOR THAT AWESOME BIT OF INFO CAP!!!
@@LFRFAMILY Road to 100k?My advice...keep it up with Led Zeppelin😉P.S.Plus...you"re gonna enjoy. All the best brother!!!💪🏾👍✌️
Have you heard “since I’ve been loving you” by them yet?
Would like to hear some jimi hendrix the live version of Hey Joe!!!
“Is this rock, is this blues, is this soul?” ...... answer....yes.
😁Hell yeah!
I came in to say this exact same thing
And more...
It's Blues/Rock.
That was my answer as well.
"Is this rock? Is this blues? Is this soul?"
YES
Hahaha just made the exact same comment!
@@dornomac Great minds...?
beat me to it
All the above
Welcome to the Led Zeppelin rabbit hole. It gets deep brother.
Ever SO much deeper!!♥️🩸
Sometimes even unsettlingly deeper
I'm 53 and I'm still in that hole since I was 11.
I went down the LZ rabbit home 45 years ago- almost sixty now and I see no end in sight!!
Crazy part, the bass player was the best musician in the band.
Nobody ever talks about him. JOHN PAUL JONES. Played like 6-7 instruments. Fucking genius.
For real! The flute in stairway to heaven?! The organ & piano in No quarter? Mad props
JPJ could and does play ANYTHING!
And an arranger👍
I don't know man, that drummer was pretty damn good
Yeah JPJ the best. And Page is still top 3 all time guitarists.
When Giants walked the Earth
Well said 🌎🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵👍
The greatest drummer ever
Rock drummer agreed
And the best bassist/keyboardist ever
And the best guitarist ever...
And...
@@el34glo59 Yes, but the thing is how much more sense of dynamic rhythm he had than other well-known drummers at the time. Ofc he had his "gimmicks" but i honestly think he could drum any musical genre at a masterful level if he really wanted to.
Bonham to Peart to Carey... it’s all different styles, but all great drummers. Bonham is the godfather, but there have been and are other bosses. Bonham 🇬🇧, Peart 🇨🇦, Carey 🇺🇸
YUP!
My favorite Led Zeppelin song. I was in the Navy in Vietnam when this came out. When I finally got discharged it was the first song I learned on the guitar. Everything works on this song
AIN'T NOTHIN WEAK. YEA I'M OLD.
Thank you for your service Mr. Dunlap, and welcome home.
Thank you for your service man and I salute you as well. And that's a great story as well keep on rocking on as well. Don't worry I'm old also
Thank You For Your Service!
💕🇺🇸💖
I guess he's a singer. Rolling Stone magazine voted him lead vocalist of the century!!!!!!!!!!
How old was Robert Plant when they recorded this? 19? Truly gifted vocalist and a truly gifted band.
Only thing better than Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant to me is is you would stop stopping the song to interject....wait until the end. You are messing with perfection...this was music i grew up on...thank goodness not listening for the first time. I would stop watching and go to another channel...might still do it now...very annoying. We want to hear the music first...this group.is strict with their copyright. Be careful. I suggest you view live performances. On your own if you can. Ok. You keep stopping. For first timers trying to hear the music 😯
He was 20 a couple of months before this
MargaretAnn Stewart he’s got to stop the song from time to time, or else he could get copyrighted and the video deleted. DF! You must be new to watching reactions. Get a clue will ya.🤣😂. And if you don’t like his reactions, then don’t fucking watch! Buh Bye!
This was Led Zeppelin's first album. The band was assembled a month or two prior to this recording. These guys just went into the studio and this spilled out.
@@mstewart109 I think he and others do that because if they don't they get the video taken down. The commentary interrupts the song enough to avoid that result. Besides, I enjoy watching people hear Zep tunes for the first time, especially people who don't have a lot of history with blues-based rock. But they know good music when they hear it.
Jimmy page is using a violin bow on that git box!
Seriously so amazing to watch their live performances of this song, their stage presence is just insane
@@knee.co.8338 I see LFR was stumped as to what he was hearin when Jimmy started usin that bow...just like we were back in the sixties when we first heard this album...
Go listen to Robert Johnson recordings,,,you will hear riffs, etc; that Zep used from him!
cello bow
VincentG, thanks, I was trying to remember. Cello bow. It does make a difference.
Reed
About time! 😁 Arguably the best ever singer: Robert Plant. Best ever Guitar: Jimmy Page. Best ever Bass: John Paul and most definitely the best drummer of all time: Jon Bonham!
Hard to stack up with that line up.
They are unreal in concert! Jon Bonham’s Jason has a band which is unreal. His is just as good as his dad on drums. When Zeppelin does any music they Jason Bonham do the drums. I have seen both in concert fantastic
Some may disagree on the first 3, even with good arguments, but very very few will on Bonzo: the only one at that level is the Professor... As for the combo, no challenge on the aggregate but from the Floyd.
@@kimnolan678 That's awesome. I wish I could have been there. I am 31 so naturally I gravitated towards classic rock because new music is computerized and has no secondary message.
@@jgingras2615 Floyd is masterful but I like more upbeat. ZEP can be dower but still upbeat. It's amazing
The drummer and singer were 20 years old when they did this!
I've never been able to rank the bands I love. 2-100 change depending on my mood, but Led Zeppelin have and always will be #1
Folk singer Jake Holmes wrote Dazed and Confused, and Zeppelin perfected it.
Right after the yardbirds.
@@stevezrofsky8577 And Zeppelin perfected it.
@@dawest767 that's no lie.
@@dawest767 They just kept the lyrics, but the music was Zep right?
@@JohnM0rris the other way around. Page kept the basic bass line, chord progressions and melody but changed the lyrics and altered the music. Here's the original to compare to

Gotta love some Led. The bass in this song is legendary.
💯
They stole this song from a guy who opened for Jimmy Page. It was originally done with the same exact music and lyrics but they changed the lyrics up eventually.
Yeah....there’s a reason these guys sold 300 MILLION albums.
One of my favorite songs of all time, I’ve been listening to this song all my life and I’m 65! Every time is as amazing as as the first ! It is perfect.
Back in the late '60's and early '70's we just called it hard rock. Great reaction.
Really enjoyed how you broke that down. Nice to see someone appreciate the construction of a song like that. Props.
Always wear good headphones when listening to the Mighty Zep!
Robert Plant was a master at his craft at the age of 21 when this song was recorded.
A freaking masterpiece! Awesome! Never gets old, when we get to watch a new "family member" get a taste of classic Led Zeppelin! So glad you loved it!
Please listen / watch them perform live at Madison Square Garden (MSG). Pick any song, but you must USE HEADPHONES! You’re missing out on the stereo sound and the music and vocals alternating from ear to ear.
Try "In my time of dying" Or "Nobody's fault but mine"
.
In My Time of Dying. For the love of all things Zeppelin, yes!
The DRUMS!
Now you see why LZ is the greatest rock band of all time in most people’s minds - on another level.
If you want to hear Robert Plant play around with his vocals listen to You Shook Me
Yes! That's agreat one.
Yesss thank you for this reaction. This is top 3 led Zeppelin song for me. I think everyone wore the stank face at some point this video. Also love how you’re always reading and liking the comments. Respect.
Best song from LZ is Ten years gone
Milan Plevko That song is the most beautiful piece of work! I’m learning it on the guitar rn.

My favorite band ever, playing my favorite song!!!!! I love LED ZEPPELIN!!
YO, I’ve been waiting ever since you started your rock reactions. Can’t wait to see your reaction to Led Zeppelin “Moby Dick” the drums are 🌪🤟🏽
Guitarist and producer Jimmy Page is the musical genius behind most of Zep’s best songs. In My Time of Dying is another epic metal/blues song you might like. If you wanna hear them do an traditional blues song, try You Shook Me, a Willie Dixon tune.
*gifted at knowing which songs to steal
The Dude Abides most rock and roll music is “stolen.” It is what you do with it that distinguishes the great from the not so great. As the saying goes, we stand on the shoulders of giants.

Yo Van, I'm a drummer and I know you said that you play too. 😁 My favorite Led song to play is, Nobody's Fault but Mine. 😉😎😎 Definitely one for the Car Test!!! 💪🏽
As I saw a commenter say- when people pray to the rock gods, this is them.
Tech note: The middle part where it gets all soft and spacey, the spaceships flying by sounds are done on the electric guitar with a violin bow. Jimmy Page, guitariste.
You just startin to peek over the top of the rabbit hole my friend..... Go on.. Fall in... U won't b dissapointed 🤯🤯
LFR: what is this? Rock? Blues?soul?
Me: yes
Not natural sounds.... that's the guitarist using a violin bow on his guitar.
the solo from the song remains the same is still fresh.
I said the EXACT SAME THING! LOL
Cello bow.. just an FYI
I knew he could sing but WOAH!
Didn't know this side of him
Definitely one of the greatest bands of all time. Check out 'When the Levee Breaks' and 'Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You'. 2 🔥🔥🔥 Blues/Soul/Rock tracks
100% EXCELLENCE
LED ZEPPELIN One of the greatest rock bands of all time!! HEAVILY Blues influenced.
"They're taking there time". Love this quote from you bro. Zeppelin taught me patience in music.
"They put in some natural sounds like spaceships in there" - LFR Family, 2020
That's a guitar played with a violin bow during the interlude.
I saw Led Zeppelin in 1970!🔥😁 First concert, first acid trip!🤯 WOW!😂 What a great time to be 17!💯 Never dreamed I would still be alive now and still rockin' with Led Zeppelin! 😲🤗 Great reaction!👍❤️✌️.

Led Zeppelin is early metal music. Led & Sabbath are 2 of the early founding metal groups that inspired other metal groups!
Uriah Heep was a more solidly metal band that started in 1969 also.
@@asdfqwer1234zxcv And let's not forget Deep Purple.
And the beatles with helter-skelter
@@asdfqwer1234zxcv good band, but not really all that influential
The unholy trinity are Led Zeppelin , Black Sabbath and Deep Purple .
The inspiration, as it were, of this song is it uses the bones of a psychedelic folk song by a singer named Jake Holmes, which Jimmy Page had covered while he was in the Yardbirds. He changed the lyrics and used it to showcase his technique of playing guitar using a violin bow.
The original Jake Holmes version
ua-cam.com/video/pTsvs-pAGDc/v-deo.html
I have read that when Jake Holmes first heard the Zeppelin version, he was amazed at what they had done with his song, to the point that it was kind of hard to be mad at them...

You should check out the live version Jimmy Page is actually using a violin bow on his electric guitar in the solo too unbelievable
Next level. See "How Many More Times", live 1969. Perfect introduction to how they do their unique sounds.
Most people were introduced to Bonzo's phenomenal drumming in When the Levee Breaks; for me, it was this song. That man was a beast. ❤️🎶
Since i been loving you live !973 at MSG you can see the best ever in there prime
Love to see you reacting to imo the greatest band in history. The members influences definitely included a bunch of early American blues music, you should react to their cover of When the Levee Breaks such an amazing version
Please react to more Led Zep!!!
"Babe Im gonna leave you" and "Since Ive been loving you" live at Maddison Square Garden
Sometimes the stars align and the right people meet at the right time. All of these guys were young when they made this music. I'm talking 19-20 ish. It was a special time for rock music. So much greatness came from this era.
These boys are legends. You going to get mad subs from this.
The best ever
Tried listening to this on headphones smokin weed in the 70's. Couldn't handle it. Had to call 911.....Not sure they had that back then but it blew my mind
Headphones headphones headphones. Yes Led Zeppelin Music is amazing emotional spiritual and sound track to some lives. Enjoy my friend. Keep listening 👍
This song is actually a reinterpretation of another song by a band Jimmy Page shared a show with before Led Zeppelin . The other song is by the same name. I think Jimmy Page was in the Yardbirds at the time. You will find a lot of their songs to be covers/reimaginations. They are still great though
You are speaking to my soul!!! Zeppelin is amazing!!! You should check out stairway to heaven!!!
I feel sorry for all the people that missed out on all this great music growing up. Y'all have so much to catch up on!
About time Van, I knew you'd appreciate this song 😁 Mate, you should listen with headphones, it's so much better!
You really do miss yet another level of this song listening without headphones! Try it - there's a LOT to check out!
Its what I love about Led Zeppelin. Traditional Blues was often so personal and intimate. Whereas Zeppelin took those feelings of conflict and heartbreak and splashed them up across the sky. Enormous, epic, titanic sound...Which, when a person is actually going through it, is really how agony feels. Brilliant.
Thats a brilliant comment brother! Love it
I thoroughly enjoy your takes on the old stuff...they were really unique times...and now I see parallels all over the place now....
One of the greatest songs of ALL TIME!!!...it's a MASTERPIECE!!!
5:20 jimmy is playing electric guitar using acello bow haha, and is doing call and response with roberts voice
The mighty Zep!! Keep em coming! And do studio versions for first time listens for full effect! Live versions are amazing but better once you know the songs!! Thanks!
Next song you should react to is In my time of dying by Zeppelin
Great impression of Led Zeppelin - you got it!! They are such a diverse band. The best musicians - I hope you explore their catalog.
I feel pretty good growing up with this music.
You like drums go back and listen to those fills. John Bonham one of the greatest rock drummers

It elevates the mind and expands it as well they are the ultimate Rock Band of their time. Timeless...
Amazing song! You can't go wrong with the Led! Great reaction LFR!🎸
Here before this gets Thanos snapped. Great reaction to a legendary song.

What inspired this song? Listening to Black music for years before.
two words: Jake Holmes
@@OnionRings9770 I really like him. Zep couldn't help but give everything a Black tint, considering the music they came up with. I haven't listened to that Holmes album for a while, think I'll do it today.

Don't know if you ever reacted to the White Stripes. If not you should try the song Death Letter [ Son House cover] live. It's amazing.
I saw them in concert in 1969 and 1970 - Dazed and Confused was electrifying in person.
6:40 I loved this observation!
You should be doing youtube requests. UA-cam matters.
Robert plant sounds like Steve Marriott from the small faces listen to him sing on need your loving and Jimmy Page was not the first to use the cello bow on guitar that was Eddie Phillips from the creation
I love people's reactions to hearing Led Zeppelin for the first time. We were raised on it! I guess I can't believe there are people that never heard of them. Do yourself a huge favor and listen to everything they did. No two songs sound alike. You won't be dissapointed!
Okay, you gotta check out the Live version of this song from their show at Madison Square Garden in 1973, it was used in the movie "The Song Remains the Same" which was fantasy segments intertwined with concert footage for the '73 show.
The devil sold his soul to jimmy page the lead guitarist of zeppelin lmao
Lool right?!?
I think you did Bill Burr when he talked about asking his wife to take the dog out because his foot hurt, because he is trying to get his bass drum foot as fast as John Bonham’s. Bonham was the drummer in this band.
Addendum: the video was No reason to hit a woman. ua-cam.com/video/lHstaYMwkFQ/v-deo.html
2:18 You just described Led Zeppelin right there...
It's heavy rock n' roll with an essence of blues from guitarist Jimmy Page's legendary solo licks, bassist John Paul Jones's badass bass lines and the soulful voice of Robert Plant. And of course, one of the best drummers of all time the late John Bonham
