For vegan you also change the oyster sauce for mushroom sauce instead

Never thought to run the noodles under cold water then the sesame oil for better texture and flavour. I had one of your videos from 8 months ago pop up, gram flour toast, after trying the cauliflower pakora come popcorn yesterday, I'll have to try the toast soon, I've acquired a taste for fennel seeds too so they may have to go in too.Thankyou for broadening my tastebuds.

Hi Chetna I made this tonight but I had to put a lot more vegan oyster sauce in it plus I used sweet chilli sauce but it was delicious thank you so much.
yes vegan oyster sauce has a bit less flavour than the oyster sauce, glad you enjoyed it

I’m going to try this recipe soon. Can anyone tell me what I can replace oyster sauce with as I’m allergic to it. And what other oil can be used instead of sesame oil which I don’t have.

These remind me of Hakka Noodles you get in Mumbai. Btw which chilli sauce do you use as I don’t want to choose the wrong one which could affect the taste. Thanks.
Actually I dont have a particular brand, most of the times I buy different chilli sauces whatever I can find

I've been making things similar to this with rice noodles and they always stick to the bottom and soak up all the sauce. 😅 I'm gonna give egg noodles a shot soon.

Yes you can make it vegan but I dont know what vegan sauces are out there? You can for sure use soya and chilli and skip the oyster sauce. Obviously that is not vegan and also it adds a very slight fish flavour, which is great but not for someone who does not like that flavour
Since oyster sauce is mostly thick and sweet, you could substitute it with dark soy sauce but only add 1 tsp instead.
now you make me want noodles ( I am a Hakka! )

I remember eating this street food in India many years ago. Any idea where the term "Hakka" comes from? Oh yeah, and oyster sauce isn't vegan (or even vegetarian) since It's made from ...you guessed it...oysters. LOL Looks delish!
Hakkas were the community from China who were nomadkind of people they settled in India and many other asian countries and infused thr food with the food where they go.

Yes I didnt say it was vegan for this reason.
Actually, bivalves have no central nervous system nor brain, so some vegans will eat muscles and oysters for this reason. On another note, some oyster sauces have no oyster in them - I know, what's the point - so they can still check ingredients list and make a non-oyster selection.
You can sub out the oyster sauce with soy or tamari. It's really there to add a little umami flavor.
There's lots of vegan oyster sauces sold these days so you could still make the recipe as is. Also agree with a previous commenter - I know vegans who eat oysters and even scallops for that reason.
Chetna: Incorrect, at 5:37 you said "You can make it vegan by changing the egg noodles" "this is a great Vegan dish"
Neither Vegans or Vegetarians would eat animal products ie the oyster sauce and as you correctly say egg noodles would not be acceptable either
Tip: if you actually do not have oyster sauce (but, um, thought you did 🤣), half hoisin and half soy works!

TFS recipe. its not vegan or even vegetarian at all when you have egg noodles & oyster sauce. Pls give out correct info,
UA-cam commenters clearly rush to their keyboards before bothering to read any one else's opinion, judging by how many food purists felt the need to point out that _oyster sauce is not actually vegan_ (not that oysters are much used in its preparation anyway)... Any vegan or veggie worth the name, me included, is surely well aware of which foods comply or not to their preference, and there's always that label of ingredients on the jar.
