Ryan, my old boss was a huge Rush fan... He said they came through here in Tulsa Oklahoma back in the early 80s and there was literally 100 people in the entire arena. He was worried they would cancel the show, but instead Rush played for 3 solid hours as if there were 30,000 people present. Best show he ever saw.

I was once driving in a city in the North of England, it was summer, got window down and I'm rockin Tom Sawyer at concert volume. Guy in car behind me in slow moving traffic, purposely cuts into the bus lane to my left, so he could pull up to my left window, to ask, who the hell is that? It's AWESOME, he was a young Indian /Asian guy. I told him, the song and the band, he thanked me and said, he's checking them straight out when he gets home. The overwhelming human tragedy in this is that a young daughter has lost her father, a wife has lost her husband, parents have lost their son and siblings have lost their brother. We grieve for our loss, but theirs is by far the greater. Neil Peart. What comes to mind? Integrity, honesty, loyalty, humility, compassion - all things that make a good human being. Alex and Geddy, thank you for the opportunity you gave him to follow his passion. We are forever grateful.
Nice Eulogy. Just one thing I have to say though is HE lost his Daughter and Wife a long time ago. Alex always sounds like he's playing an industrial version of lead guitar...He always creates a signature that sounds like multiple guitars. He's a virtuoso just like his bandmates.
While singing... and playing keyboards... with his hands.. and his feet... and some rhythm guitar... and he gets such an insane bass tone... BEST MUSICIAN EVER

When you take into account everything said above, how are you going to tell me Hendrix and Clapton are better than Lee? incredible bass playing and singing, yet still, plays keyboards in a great fashion. Not to mention he writes the music and is incredibly innovative. Never in my life have I heard someone bring bass to the forefront as he has, and be able to provide such a rare tone no one has been able to match. I know it's idiotic to go against the popular choice, but eh, what are you gonna do?
What a band! Saw them in Milwaukee in April 1980, my first show. I was 14 years old. I was pushing boundaries then, haven't stopped. My inspiration comes from them. Much love RUSH fans!
I came here after hearing of Neil's passing. We've lost a monumental talent, a real hero to millions although he hated the concept of fame. We will miss the wisdom and the wit, the precise musicianship but the songs, books and memories will remain. Rest in peace Neil. And thanks.
Neil set the bar as to how good a drummer can get when I was just starting out playing the drums I think around 1973-74 till today I can't think of any other rock drummer that I wanted to be as good as. . .the guy just blew my mind more and more as they released each album he also had some really impressive drum kits that looked like you needed three people to play them! Needless to say he had quite the impression on me and every body that I know especially if you knew how complex his style of playing really was . . .all you gotta do is get a drum set and some sticks sit down and just try to play like him I know that there are some very talented drummers out there that can probably duplicate him but there will never be another Neil Peart it's just not possible . . Rest in peace and thank you

Me too man.. Rush was my life, in my preteen years.
Yep. Makes one reconsider what a “nerd” is!
I know what you mean, I was brought up on music like this thanks to my parents, who have also passed on, this is what got me into music, I remember air guitaring to Witch Hunt as a toddler in the early 80s

It's Musically Fascinating
so so true.
The thing that blew me away about Rush shows was the joy. People left their egos and cynicism at the door and were JOYFUL. Although I'm saddened by their departure and Neil's death, I feel incredibly grateful and fortunate for having experienced their magic.
So true! They loved what they did and their joy was contagious. Rush fans are so chill. I have been going to every concert of theirs since Roll the Bones and I have NEVER seen a fight at any of them!

I was so proud, that hearing a Rush tune being blasted out, hearing the amazing drum fills and pure rhythmic punch, that it moved someone to have to have THAT band in their life. Yeah, I was proud to share Rush.

A lost age. I am so glad I lived thru and experienced the greatest era of Rock & Roll.
The talent was on loan from a higher power, but he had the spirit for that blessing to be bestowed upon him. Thank you Neil.
Alex and Geddy, thank you for the opportunity you gave him to follow his passion. We are forever grateful.
Nice Eulogy. Just one thing I have to say though is HE lost his Daughter and Wife a long time ago. Needless to say he had quite the impression on me and every body that I know especially if you knew how complex his style of playing really was . . .all you gotta do is get a drum set and some sticks sit down and just try to play like him I know that there are some very talented drummers out there that can probably duplicate him but there will never be another Neil Peart it's just not possible . . Just recently got into Rush...i'm so happy i did.
It's always amazing to me how they can reproduce the sound of the studio version when they're on stage. Such skill and precision.
It is also why many of us in bands try to explain to friends that rehearsal is nothing fun to attend as a spectator. Repetition & perfecting parts is great when you're playing, though still a bit tedious.
