@@maxwolf2726cool, unfortunately Rush had no plan to play in Asia especially in Jakarta, Indonesia, so I had no chance to see their concert in live. One of my favorite sayings is "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts." It's almost always true of great rock and roll bands, and Rush is clearly one of them
That's exactly what I say and tell friends or people who never seen them for three guys playing they sounded like they had an orchestra, RIP NEIL PERT AND I STILL LOVE GEDDY LEE AND ALEX LIFESON ROCK ON RUSH!!!!!!
I've always been amazed at how easy Neil Peart made playing the drums look. I know he was totally kicking ass, but he typically had the appearance that he was bored. He was doing something so second nature; powerful, accurate and intricate. Most folks would suffer quadruple limb failure trying to play like him and sound like a bozo. He was the best.
I was privileged and lucky enough to see RUSH 34 times starting in 81 on their Moving Pictures tour. One of my biggest regrets that I’ll take to my grave was missing their last tour thinking that I’d get another chance. I have to say this recording really shows them at their best. Having fun and killing it. Rest In Peace Professor…🙏
I'm a little under you in attendance, but spot on in your feelings. This was the second tour/show I missed since 12/81. But it is not what you missed my brother, it's what you experienced. Best wishes. Always!!
You must be from Toronto, or a roadie one! I dug their music from the late '70s, being turned on to them from a chick in school. Her older brother started with the debut album. She told me to buy ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE. This chick looked like Sheryl Crow and was from metro St.Louis. She moved down to North Harris Co.Texas which is Houston metro. Saw RUSH on Hemisphere's tour with APRIL WINE opening in '77-'78. It was a cold bitch that night. But bud & beer kept the chill down going and coming out of Old Sam Houston Coloseum. And the only other time was on the Power Windows tour when l lived near Dallas/Ft.Worth. No opening act, they just lowered the house lights and began The Three Stooges theme song with the birds sound effects. Truly letting everyone know they were just humble people and not Rock Gods. I thought that was cool as hell. ROLL ON FOREVER!!!
It's a true fan that gets to see rush 34 times. You are definitely a true fan. I've always been a fan ...I'm a drummer because of this band in particular. I grew up playing on my lap and air drums..lol but it helped with timing and made the transfer to a real drums alot easier
sometimes I just jam out ...other times I really get choked up missing these guys and thinking about all the times I saw them in concert and knowing that will never happen again.....🥲
Undoubtedly the most important concert they ever played was DUBLIN. As a Irish Rush fan since I was 10 when I discovered A Farewell To Kings in 1978. I was an honour to see them my capital city. The soundtrack to my life. Thank you to 3 lovely genuine guys and masters of their art. Sorely missed. ❤
Neil was famously quoted indicating that "Tom Sawyer" was a very difficult song to play and that was why it felt so good to "get it right". One of the best concert moments I have ever had was on R40 in Toronto when they did "Tom Sawyer", the camera on Neil was on the stage backdrop at the end of the song and Neil smiled at Ged and Alex... I knew that I had just witnessed a special moment because, for him, the ultimate perfectionist in his playing, he "got it right".
Best progressive band I've seen them 75 times. Only Tour that I've missed was the "Test for Echo" My all time fav. drummer of course "Neil Peart" Rest in Peace, I'll see you again someday when the Lord decides so.
Wow is that good. It says posted 13 years ago (it's 31-Jan-2023) yet there are only 320 up votes. Go figure! There are so many aspiring young drummers who look at this song to cover and post here. No one will ever be that good!
Nice little homage to Spinal Tap with the mini Stonehenge on the keyboard! What a great band! Lucky enough to see the a couple times in the late 70’s. Never took themselves too seriously and all of them had a great sense of humor! One of my top 5 and possibly top 3 bands of all time.
The tune that got me into Rush. Then I went and got their current album at that time: Hold Your Fire. After that, I went to the cassette bin at Kmart and bought everything from the debut album up to HYF. First show was Roll the Bones. Never missed a tour until Snakes and Arrows. A great band and a fun journey. Thanks, guys.
I saw them in Augusta, Georgia in an 8000 seat civic center. They were as loud as ANY concert I ever heard, but sounded like they were on headphones. So clear, so perfect. I miss Neil and I miss Rush.
