Rush is the only band that still surprises and captivates me. Even in October 2024, I’m sitting here in amazement at the orchestra of sounds. Bass treble and volume set so my neighbors won’t miss a beat
@erkbrothers 80 - When I first heard of Stiller's passing I was like, "I have no idea who he was!?" (other than Ben's dad, obviously), but then suddenly this here intro popped into my mind :-)
To anyone has ever seen Rush live, their opening "movie intros" followed by their hard-hitting opening songs/medley were a definite rush to the senses (pun intended) of "the party is starting"!!!
I saw them in Glasgow back in the 2000s. They had a wee cartoon guy come on at the end to say “thank f*** that shite’s finished”. Captured the Glaswegian patter perfectly 😄
Saw them numerous times in Concert - Always Great and Humble- They just keep getting Better and Better every time I saw them. Polished and Expert. Last time I saw them was Feb. 5th, 1994, at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim , CA. ( now called the Honda Center). Next to Anaheim Stadium. I still miss Neal Peart. Met him once, and he was such a shy and unassuming man. God's Speed to Geddy and Alex. Thanks for all the Great Memories.
Of all the tours I saw them on, when I saw THIS I damn near lost my mind. To OPEN the show with a medley instead of close with, absolutely brilliant. The crowd was so pumped up, and the band looked like they were having a ball. I bet it was Alex's idea, because he really shined.
I live in St. Catharines, just a stone's throw from Lakeside Park. What an honour it is to live in the backyard of one of the greatest drummers the rock n' roll world has ever known.
I got Caress of Steel as my second RUSH LP after ESL and loved it well before I heard about the criticisms. I still genuinely do not understand why anyone could find a single issue with any of the tracks, it remains one of my top RUSH albums to this day. Too be fair they are all my top RUSH albums. Except Echo.
@@Roll_the_BonesWhile Caress of Steel is my least favorite of all of Rush's albums, that doesn't mean that I think it is a bad album. By no means, I like all the tracks on it. And I'll listen to CoS over 99.9898% of all the albums that have come out in my lifetime (I was born in 1971).
So privileged to have seen this show in England all those years ago! And i finally FINALLY met Geddy last year at a book signing.. If you're a Rush fan (you wouldn't be watching this video I guess!) You would understand how happy that made me.. Been a fan since 1986
Saw the band many times over the years, a few times in Toronto. The first time I saw them there I was in the balcony, Alex side, Maple Leaf Gardens, and of course there were ushers all over. The one nearest us was up there in years, a white-haired gent, and wasn't paying very much attention to the crowd (there wasn't much going on). He was paying attention to the band and head-bobbing right along with the music. It was really fun to see him getting into it. I was in my twenties, he had to be pushing 70.
From 2:49-3:20. You seriously could not ask for a better intro to a concert than that. That A chord Alex hits in the first note is out of this fucking world
I saw this tour in 2004 at Radio City, NY. This opening salvo blew us away. (my other half was with me). I was up in the 1st row of the Balcony. For those that know Radio City, amazing place for a show. Can't believe that was 18 years ago.
This was my 3 kids first concert ever. They were so young. To see the wonder & amazement in their eyes as the band opened up. Took me right back to an early April evening in Syracuse NY's Carrier Dome 1983 for my first concert ever. Signals
I was at exactly the right age in high school in Brighton Ontario when Rush came out. I followed them carefully their whole career. Started in the 70’s and kept going. I see them taking a tiny step back in with South Park. But this intro is amazing and makes me cry for Neil.
I haven't been listing to a lot of Rush lately since I'm not commuting anymore thanks to Corona. It's cool to hear the power and precision of this band again. This little session is EPIC!
One of the all time best rock trios to grace a stage one of a kind band never to be duplicated ever bin following them since highschool I'm now 65 I'm also a drummer so Neil was a great inspiration for me
I got up to Passage To Bangkok, then unaccountably, my eyes started leaking. Could it be because I know I'll never see them perform it live? Such a badass song, the live crowd really appreciated it.
I can only speak for myself, but, there are many possible choices for the second best rock band of all time. There is only one for the best. Thanks gentlemen. I've been a fan since album # 1.
Genuine brilliance from all three for 30+ and yet I can still hope that my children could have the same...love and experience that we we've gone through blessed. Peace and love
A blink-and-you'll-miss-it performance for the ages. Could only be pulled off by a band as masterful as Rush (a trio nonetheless). And kicking things off with Spirit of the Radio RIGHT after?!?! Sheeeeesh this crowd must have been transcending to another dimension.
Sent shivers down my spine ! I can't put into words how these tunes make me feel ! Tearful actually ! My youth , my middle age , and now my old age ! Thanks guys ; )
I got this for Christmas one year on DVD. Best part was it was after my dad hooked up his surround sound present. We jammed to this like a real concert. I didn't go to R30, but I loved R40 slowly watching the stage and music go back in time. R40 was incredible, and made even more unforgettable as their last. Thanks for the memories Neil!
That was one of the funnest things I have ever watched on UA-cam. And to see Jerry being a big fanboy during the "Bangkok" snippet was too cool. Thank you for posting this!
Saw them 9 times live, always a great show, especially in the 80s when they used a lot of laser lighting. Forgot where my car was after one of their shows.
went to this tour in 2005 at woodlands in texas . best show I've ever seen. (although I was in the crowd for the beastie boys final performance at bonaroo 2009 and that was close) this shit was like watching the best at everything do their thing.
I wish I appreciated this more at the time. They're relaxing into the groove of each tune in the meddley and that's cool. All I could think about in the years around when it was released is how Neil got rid of his awesome set, the kind I had a relatively faithful duplicate of in my house.
I just realized, at 2:05 when the dragons hatch and sing, "Hello, hello, hellooo..." that was sampled from the Monkees' TV show, episode S02:E03, called "Everywhere a Sheik, Sheik." I'd stake my life on it!
I like Geddy’s Rickenbacker the best obviously, but of all of his Fender Jazz sounds I like this tone the best. Not too fat bottom end and not to shrieky top end. It’s in that perfect middle ground.
As many concerts that I went to, especially back in the 80s, I can't believe I never saw Rush live. I've been going down the Rush video rabbit hole lately -- amazing musicians.
The Best Band of the World!!!! Forever!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely! Since CNE-1979 to 2025. The BEST BAND EVER 😊
Best rock intro. Ever.
Indeed!!🤘🔥
Who's watching this in 2024?
ME
I watch on phone & sit on lazy chair wife bring beer soon empty ashtray
ME!!
I go to see R30 R40, best concerts ever...so me, I am watching it in 2024. 😊
Meeeeee
so glad they performed "bastille day"!
Me too !!
THE Greatest intro to a concert EVER!
This intro alone would top most concerts.
Rush is the only band that still surprises and captivates me. Even in October 2024, I’m sitting here in amazement at the orchestra of sounds. Bass treble and volume set so my neighbors won’t miss a beat
Jerry is in heaven watching Neil Peart do a playthrough of Bangkok right now
Interesting photo of Alex at 8.41 giving the 666 one eye look, is he pooling the piss or something else?
Alot can get close , but NO ONE will ever duplicate the master ... this is why Alex & geddy will never play as rush ...
Alex blazing away on a PRS is the best sound and tone he ever got .
Watching greatness never gets old!,
Best band in the Universe. Neil Peart wasn't just a drummer he was a percussionist. Rip.
Alchemy
You spelled 'perfectionist' wrong :)
Absolutely right.
RIP Professor and Jerry Stiller. Both extreme masters of their craft. Serenity now!!! 🤘😎🥁
@erkbrothers 80 - When I first heard of Stiller's passing I was like, "I have no idea who he was!?" (other than Ben's dad, obviously), but then suddenly this here intro popped into my mind :-)
Festivus for the rest of us....."I got a lot of problems with you people!".
Now more thenever
Festivus for the rest of us!
Hoochi mamma !
Still sounds so fresh in 2025. That chemistry and musicality.

Yes I have, & yes they do! ✨👏🏼😎✨
Yes, Denver McNichols in 1986. Opened with 2112. Followed up with Limelight.
Yup, it was their party trick! Lul the audience into a sense of bemused confusion, then SMACK! Sucker-punched, right in the face!
Yes many times 😮
3 good friends fortunate enough to rock the world
I am in 2025 ! Long Live RUSH ! 😊
Never gets old. Actually it gets better every time i listen.
I can't count how many times I have listened to this...
There will never ever ever be a ROCK band (or ANY band) that comes even REMOTELY near the greatness of RUSH!!! ✨👏🏼😎✨
So true.

I was in the 9th grade when my stoner neighbor introduced me to their music. Never looked back.
Of all the tours I saw them on, when I saw THIS I damn near lost my mind. To OPEN the show with a medley instead of close with, absolutely brilliant. The crowd was so pumped up, and the band looked like they were having a ball. I bet it was Alex's idea, because he really shined.
It really was unfair to concentrate so much talent into one band.
No other band could slip multiple songs into a medly like this with so much ease and precision as rush.
{Dream Theater enters chat}
Peart forever (1952 - 2020)
30 people don't like this: are you from another planet? This is the best opening ever from the best band ever, no discussion
Never mind the amazing musicianship, I love seeing crowds before smartphones actually living in the moment at a concert
Cellphones existed but, who needs one other than to relive this event?
My 1st experience was the Hemispheres tour in 79'.
Nothing but Zippos lit the room 😎✌🤘

Likewise, a fan since '86 and I too managed to catch the R30 tour, Birmingham NEC 2004 :)
Respect mate.
Kick ass band!!!
RUSH is the only band that would precede a song medley with an album cover medley.
Correct! Absolute dudes
Thank you for all the years of great music. RIP Neil, and for Alex and Geddy...keep playing because the world needs you! ❤
Got that right, I miss them so much.
Who else could take 6 songs, and make them transition into each other so smoothly? Why the masters of the transition, of course. RIP Jerry!
And even they acknowledged the difficulty of doing so. But they also never backed away from a challenge.
Nobody ever
Well, the Grateful Dead could too tbh.
g f u
@@charlieraffaniello4867 yeah they were masters of that & sometimes did it without anyone in the band knowing what song they'd end up turning it into
Stupid good musicians! 62yrs old. My favorite band as a teen. Saw them 6 times through the yrs. Always left the concert w my jaw dropped saying WTF!!
When they do Hemispheres, massive goosebumps!
This has got to be the most magnificent intro I have ever heard in my life. Thank You RUSH!!!
I could literally put this on a loop and listen to it for the rest of my life.
Everyday for some time since UA-cam is my only social media

What an opening! Greatest band ever

Rush was the only band I'd pay to see play live, and I did, many times.
RIP, Jerry Stiller.
Jerry Stiller opening a Rush show. AWESOME! R.I.P Mr. Stiller you will be so missed. Great person I hold dear to my heart.

Jesus, a perfectly arranged medley of classic rush
Rush has a great sense of humor! At some point of every Rush concert, you couldn't help to laugh.

Welcome to 2025. ! Vive la Canada 🇨🇦

I’ve seen Rush on R30 tour in Prague, 26.09.2004. I’ve seen Three Kings in their prime!
RUSH WAS ALWAYS IN THEIR PRIME
Loved this intro…saw it at the Hollywood Bowl and all the famous RUSH nerds were there 😅
This is my more than 100th times listening to the intro. I bet I would listening to it until my twilight years
I am sincerely glad you find enjoyment like that, in it. Rock on.

One just can't be limited to three hours of Rush music. A live show MUST be the entire catalog.
Glad I saw them a couple of times even way back to 1977. They are sublime.
First concert i ever attended without parents was Rush on Signals Tour. What a memory!!
farewell to kings toronto '77 ?, 3rd row track seats , unbelievable !!!! fan for life !!!
Absolutely spectacular! The Boys live, a winner every time.
My personal favorite intro by Rush... :)

Love Geddy's "check-in" at 5:24.
Greatest opening ever!
This is aggressively good-natured and happy.
Love that reverb on anthem 😊😊😊😊
Can always watch/listen to this intro. It's the best!
Three genius musicians.
