  • A toddler boy hairstyle video showing and explaining how to braid curly hair on your little one. Another video for our "highchair hairstyles segment". This toddler hairstyles video will be doubling as a new toddler braid style video, plus a "how to braid" hair tutorial video at certain points. This style was done on dry hair, yup that's right, no Cantu/Cantu Care Kids or Shea Moisture products, just one special thing.. you'll have to see what it is!
    Hope you enjoy!

    Thank you for your videos, my baby is 15 months old so I'm waiting to grow more to do this style, but I have a question, how long the braids last without any fluff around the scalp?? Or what product avoid the fuzz or fluff make around the braid on the scalp?? Thank you very much

      Well thank you for watching and liking our styles! These can usually last about two weeks to a month depending on your child's hair texture, if they're active, if they let you tie their hair when its bedtime... a lot of factors. But recently I found @curlykidshaircare and their Frizz Control Paste -- this helps keep Kham's hair fresh for soooooo long regardless of if I tie it or with his soft hair texture, so I would def recommend getting that and using it when you start doing your child's hair. And also, keep the scalp moist.. I use olive oil for that. Safest thing, I don't like using too many products in his hair at this age.

      Thank you very much for reply and for your tips I will find that product and use olive oil too, could you please make a video of how you tie Kham's hair for bedtime? Thank you again.

    How long does it have to be I'm sorry my boy is biracial qnd is 13 months his hair is about 5 inches in most spots when it's flat (when I wet it and comb it before it coils) I just want to start braiding it because I don't want his constant pulling on it and constant rubbing his head on things to mess up his beautiful curls your babies looks a little courser than my sweet boys I don't know if that matters with when to start braiding or not

      Hey! 👋🏽 No the coarseness doesn't matter because Kham's hair used to be a very different texture when he was around a year as well and that's when I started braiding so you're fine. When their hair is a little shorter (like it is around the 1 year mark) it won't be the most defined braids because you're not working with a lot of hair plus you don't want to be too tight (which is what makes the hair look neater) because you don't want to pull at the edges/perimeter of their hair and cause any damage. At this age you can do more so the "box braids" single braid type of styles because it'll at least get his hair out of his face and stop him from pulling on it but it won't be so hard when trying to actually cornrow.
      Hope this helps! 💙

      @@savannahmarie8254 The new video that comes out today at 12pm has a slowed down section where it shows how I hold my hands but also I'm taking through braiding it too! I'll be doing a live video soon where I'll focus on how I hold my hands when I braid also, so look out for that!

      @@keepingupwithkham hiya my son is 4 but his texture is similar to this possibly thinner/if I braid it his hair just coils up/and the braids it self only like a day before they start pulling out😭I’m not used to his texture and he haired having his hair done he was bald up until 2/1/2😂

    • @keepingupwithkham
      @keepingupwithkham  2 роки тому

      @@saharah101 😂 bald definitely seems like the easier route sometimes butttt if you find a good routine and products that work for you, it shouldn't be that bad 🤞🏽 the coiling up at the ends is super annoying we know from experience over here, but you can try using some type of pomade or hair glaze/wax towards the ends of the hair (on your fingers) and that should help keep the hair straight-ish lol
      Hope this helps! 💙

    My son is biracial and 20 months old he has 3c hair but it’s very very long and always in his face he gets frustrated and after wash day it’s shrunk up and ok but the rest of the time I have to put it up in a bun and wanted something that will last a few days, he’s the only kid at his daycare who’s hair is never “done”. Idk how y’all get these little kids to sit still for this as soon as I touch him for anything more than detangling even tho I’m gentle he freaks out and cries grabbing his hair and wiggling and thrashing around. Not being able to do this has brought me to tears, I can braid even tho their not very neat and tight but I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong or how I’m supposed to help him relax like all these other families seem to. Any advice is appreciated:)

      @keepingupwithkham  Рік тому +1

      Hey hun! 👋🏽 I totaaalllyyy understand the struggle of trying to get them to sit still so we can do their hair, Kham's cousin is the total opposite of him and like your little one, likes to cry and scream and just run away basically. The hard part is that there's no real one size fits all trick to get them to stay and let us do their hair. With Kham he just has the temperament and understanding that it's hair time and he has to stay for me to braid/wash/do his hair. I will say that having a device/tv, books, activity set, toy would be a big big help to get them distracted enough to not care and to actually stay still while trying to do their hair. Also, snacks/food seem to help, you ca also try doing his hair (in a highchair/booster seat) during a meal like lunch or something that way he has something else to concentrate on and he's strapped in and can't really go anywhere. But keep in mind some kiddos are tender headed and their scalps are just more sensitive and even though we're gentle it still hurts them in some way. Just keep trying little but little and he should warm up to the idea. Talk to him about what you're going to do and why you need him to stay still, try and get him to help out but bringing the brush or comb or picking out which colour of something you'll use, that way he may think it's cooler and want to let you do what you're doing. I know it can be tough and I know you want to have him looking his best but do not think that his hair "isn't done" because it's not braided or even in one, as long as you've washed his hair and detangled or just put in product that's having his hair done, just because his hair looks different in it's natural state compared to other kiddo's doesn't mean he's not put together. You're doing an amazing job and you'll find what works for you! Keep it up mama 💙

      @dk6451 @stephaniegarcia9655 Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I know that starting to braid can be difficult but if you can maybe even find an old doll head you can practice on, that may help. Also, you can try ways around it to get the braid look without braiding, like using elastic and wrapping the hair around the next piece so it looks like a braid going down, I should have a video on this if you look through). But just continue to take it one day at a time and you'll get there! You've got this 💪🏽💙
