Do you groom cats too? My cat is severely matted next to the skin and I’ve heard we should never shave a cat. I don’t know how he does this. Top of fur has no mats.
@JaniceCrowell The reason that happens is when the cat is shedding And you don't brush it out It becomes a big clump close to the skin. At this point you should shave it. I wouldn't risk trying to scissor that out so close to the skin. Cat's skin is paper thin. Did your cat Stop cleaning itself?

Dr Jones, just wanted to say THANK YOU for your Black Tea solution to eye lid tumors, my 10 year old dog developed quite a large one, I took him to the vet who were reluctant to remove it, so close to the eye I imagine. Tried Green TEA with some results then found some BLACK TEA and within 1 week it is almost gone, plan on doing for another week and periodically from then on to keep it at bay. HUGE THANK YOU.
@@mmsdcb9081 Hi, I followed Dr Jones directions which was to use the tea bags, I found the black tea worked best, put the bag in hot water and let it cool a bit but still warm , make sure it’s not too hot for your dog, test it on your own skin. Place it directly on the bumps for 5 minutes periodically wetting the tea bag, hold it on for minimum 5 minutes twice a day. I've been doing for about 10 days now and it’s almost gone, huge improvement . I think it will be gone in a few more days. Good luck.

I really believe it's the ACV that's the key. I had a cat that was allergic to flea bites & poor thing would pull her fur out. After trying lots of things, I came across a similar spray recipe: 1/2 cup water, 1/4 ACV, 1 tsp baking soda & 1/4 tsp salt. Worked like a charm and no nasty chemicals. :)
I have cats. 1) Will this recipe also deter ticks which are plentiful on the island that I live on? 2) do I spray the cats everyday before they go out? 3) what about when they like their furs during grooming time … which they love to do after eating? Thanks ahead of time for your reply and time. ✨💖✨
@@doracotterell2863 I don't have any experience with ticks but I can't imagine they'd like the odor at the very least. I would just do a light spray before they go out & observe how it works. I only used it until my cat stopped pulling her fur out, then on an as needed basis. In small amounts, all the ingredients, as well as in Dr. Jones recipe, are fine for when cats & dogs groom. Yes any spray sounds like hissing. When cleaning the lesions from fleas monkeys dropped I had to use cotton pads one uses to remove makeup & soak with Effivet spray in the other room then wipe my cat down. Took 18 months to clear & I'm so worried about these flea products. Was using Revolution plus & been sponsored Bravecto plus this month but scared to use it. My cats hate the treatment & they groom one another. My only question is about the lemon as I heard lemon isn't good for cats, any citrus actually. Especially using these store bought essential oils in our homes - not on the animals. I heard neem oil is good for fleas on dogs but can't use it on cats.

We started using the flea preventive Bravecto... the chewable for my little dog and the topical for the bigger guy. Unfortunately, the bigger dog has developed a horrible, smelly, itchy skin condition, despite being on Bravecto. The commercial products recommended by the vet haven't helped (mousse, anti-sebbhorea shampoo, etc.)., and i came to UA-cam looking for help. I found Dr. Jones' other videos. I just prepared the apple cider vinegar, green tea & lavender oil spray, and I'm about to run out and buy Selsun Blue. I have a good feeling about this!! Thank you Dr. Jones!🙏 P.S. One of my cats gets a bald patch when i give him the flea prevention. I tried the diatomaceous earth powder but i feel it's hit or miss with that.
@Onelove313 Yes, the Selsun Blue shampoo has made a difference! The DIY spray seems to be helping him because he doesn't "flee" when I try to spray his nether regions and the folds of his legs (doggie armpits). His constant scratching has greatly diminished too!
How about using lemon essential oil, and thyme essential oil with the apple cider vinegar? Thanks for the promotion of Holistic Veterinary principles!!
Herbalist here. 👋 You have to be careful with essential oils because they are VERY concentrated. What he did here was make an herbal infusion, which isn't as toxic. The essential oils that are drawn out in this method are very diluted, and the other compounds that are in the plant material help balance it.
I am going to make this for our 4 dog. One of our Labradoodles has Lymphoma (in remission) and we don't want to use harsh chemicals on her. I do have 5 Lemon Thyme plants so my dogs will smell extra-delicious! 🤣 Thank you so much! ❤❤
Ok so what I did was use the lemon and thyme essential oils I had on hand instead of boiling etc… used 1 cup of water and used 4-5 drops of each oil, then added the Apple cider vinegar. Quick n easy ! Worked better than any chemical rap I’ve ever used!
Love your videos and love this concoction. I might suggest to put a lid on the pot when simmering. I know when making essential oil, some is lost in the steam when it is uncovered.
laffing I thought the same thing and this is even healthy enough for us to drink if you can take the taste when I cook some up I will taste it, I just have to get some fresh thyme
We live near a creekbed and every time we go outside, I have been brushing my Catahoula with a wire brush and then spraying her coat all over (including ears, belly and paws) with pure coconut oil….no ticks or fleas all year and we had a ton of rain this year. She’s in the woods daily. Plus she smells great! I think it keeps her coat too slippery for them to hang on?? Or maybe the fleas and ticks don’t like the smell? Also, no more scratching anymore 🙂
@@journeythegoldenretriever No flies, no fleas, no ticks…and I rub it in her coat and in her ears and even on her paws…which she licks off. But my Catahoula is short haired and this breed can be sensitive to ornamental grasses and plants. Honestly her fur absorbs it and no issues if I keep it up daily.
That's virtually the same as the fly repellent we used to use for our horses. Only we would use citronella extract rather than lemon . Used to work better than the shop bought stuff😊

Fantastic spray idea! As an herbalist I can tell you it will be much more effective if you simmer it on LOW 15-20min. COVERED, turn it off & allow it to cool (2-3hours or overnight) LID ON to keep in rhe medicinal properties. Resist the urge to open the lid. You will have much more liquid at the end. This is great in a bigger batch as it won't likely go bad. I like to salt the water not sure that does anything here LOL DOC what do u think of adding bayleaf or Rosemary?
Love this, I do have all ingredients and I used these products after bathing my dog who got fleas and ringworm from a cat. After bathing her i rinsed her off with Apple cider vinegar dried her then dabbed apple cider vinegar on her visible spots. I then mixed thyme and lemon into coconut oil and rubbed onto her skin. A few days later after repeats ( not bath) and she was all good in less than a week. I used diamatious dirt on her bed and her beautiful coat. No drs for us.

Instead of spraying it on the cat, I spray it on my hands and then rub it into her coat. My cat spooks at the hissing sound of the spray bottle.😺♥️
Is this safe for babies? Kittens I mean
Thank you so much I have been watching you since I was 30 now 40 ..You are such a blessing to the UA-cam community ..I turned to your channel because..I lost my dog of 5 yrs due to toxicity levels of flea medication..She died from toxic shock from Adams flea spray she had a seizure and died ..😢It’s obvious that you are very passionate and love what you do it shows ..☺️
I'm so sorry that happened to your beautiful dog.My older female King Charles' cavalier.Spaniel also has seizures with front line.So I hope this natural remedy works!!
@@audraconnors8568 Thanks sorry for your loss as well ..I wish there was more awareness about these deadly flea medications ..
I did not know this about Frontline or other flea meds. Thanks for posting!
I'm SO sorry to hear this. It's so hard when we lose them....I'm still grieving my girl and its been 2 years💔Advantage did it to mine,,the drops you put on the neck. We had fleas one year SO BAD it was like an infestation. I mean BAD. I tried everything and against my better judgement finally used the drops. Within 3 days my beautiful, beloved dog went from being full of life to deaths door. Including seizures. I almost lost her. Her eyes were glazed and it was like watching her dying right in front of me.She never regained the use of her back legs and for 4 years after I carried 60 pounds of pit bull EVERYWHERE~she thought she was a princess lol.
She was❤
She's gone from old age now,and was the BEST dog I've ever known,,and I've known a lot~!!
RIP RileyRooster.........❤
Sidenote.....my vet vehemently denied that it was the flea drops that caused her to become so sick~! I KNOW it was,and I'll never use that stuff on any pet EVER again.......I also take every opportunity to tell others about what happened to my RileyRoo so they don't go thru what she did !!
@viviennetclarke2421 this is horrible 😢
God bless you Dr Andrew Jones.
I can never resist watching this gorgeous man. 🤩
I've just tryed this remedy on Tuesday and I'm so very glad to say yes it works my cat is a lot more relaxed Thankyou i realized that this remedy can be used for Cats too ❤🐈⬛
@@Tiger804 how long did it take to start working by chance?
@@laylamcgill7270 well as soon as I started to use it the fleas were getting killed. It dident get every single one. but it does help , my cat was a lot more relaxed. then she was in a while.
He's honest

I made this with rosemary, lemon and a drop of tea tree oil and it really works like a charm if you see a flea on your pup. I look forward to trying the thyme and ACV with the lemon as may be gentler.
Tea tee oil is poisonous to cats.
Same proportions?
@@amitisshahbanu5642 I made a double batch as I had 2puppies... 2lemons, 4sprigs of rosemary cover with water about 2cups and 2 drops of tea tree oil. It was fantastic! Spray all around neck and back of ears and around and on tail their back and legs/feet. Places fleas love to hide.
@GypsyLil I honestly dont think a cat would lick itself with it on. It was fantastic! Spray all around neck and back of ears and around and on tail their back and legs/feet. Places fleas love to hide. I would spray my pups every day before walks and bathe in evening. They didnt lick themselves with it on.
Tea tree oil is toxic for cats.
I recommend coffee filters inside a funnel for straining your homemade preparations, especially w a spray bottle.
Oh that’s brilliant! Thank you. Mine always gets clogged with the tiny herbs.
❤❤❤amazing - I ddnt have to wait a hour with nonsensical commentary
Thanks! Dr Andrew Jones

Youre a gift to this world! We love you 😭
grateful to you.. so many os out of the box healers get rejected by mainstream just because you are truthful and real. hugs.
Thank you, Dr Jones. Your natural remedies helped my labrador live an extra two years with a heart mumir and lung complications. You are the BEST! Holistic remedies are the path to health and vitality for animals and humans.
Tulip is a great dog and I love her name. It fits her so well.
Looks like we’ve got a little mix-up - Tulip or Tula, either way, she is an absolute gem!
Very thymely, as we are having this problem just now.
Icy what ewe did there!!!
😂
Jones!🙏
P.S. One of my cats gets a bald patch when i give him the flea prevention. I tried the diatomaceous earth powder but i feel it's hit or miss with that.
Hey there do you have an update? Thanks 👍🏽
That works too and less work on your part!
Herbalist here. 👋
You have to be careful with essential oils because they are VERY concentrated. What he did here was make an herbal infusion, which isn't as toxic. The essential oils that are drawn out in this method are very diluted, and the other compounds that are in the plant material help balance it.
Essential oil is best .just dilute
Watch out-essential oils can be fatal for your cats!
One drop of each per cup of water, possibly? I know theyre very strong. But, for disabled ppl, this is much easier. TIA@Momma_Tomma
I am going to make this for our 4 dog. One of our Labradoodles has Lymphoma (in remission) and we don't want to use harsh chemicals on her.
I do have 5 Lemon Thyme plants so my dogs will smell extra-delicious! 🤣
Thank you so much! ❤❤
Sounds great!
I'm so glad I found you and your natural flea and tick repellent.
Doctor jones thank you for your demo.gbus always
THx Dr Jones! Will make this tomorrow for my Beagle. Kind Regards from Ontario.
Ok so what I did was use the lemon and thyme essential oils I had on hand instead of boiling etc… used 1 cup of water and used 4-5 drops of each oil, then added the Apple cider vinegar. Quick n easy ! Worked better than any chemical rap I’ve ever used!
Thank you for sharing your method - natural remedies can be so effective and much gentler on our pets. Well done! 🌿🐾
Love your videos and love this concoction. I might suggest to put a lid on the pot when simmering. I know when making essential oil, some is lost in the steam when it is uncovered.
Thank you for bucking the system and providing truth in animal care!
We came here for vet secrets and got cooking secrets.
Dr. Jones you have thrown us a curve ball!
laffing I thought the same thing and this is even healthy enough for us to drink if you can take the taste when I cook some up I will taste it, I just have to get some fresh thyme
Yes natural is best my vet is a animal holistic she’s so lovely she does all herbal and natural meds for animals ❤
I Love it Dr. Jones a flea spray that doubles for us older Gentlemen as a Prostate shrinker/urine flow enhancer .

I will definitely try this because I’m tired of wasting money on flea products and then not working.

Thank you for sharing!! We here in Maine need these recipes for flees .
Thank Dr Jones- you are the best!
Thanks for the support
We live near a creekbed and every time we go outside, I have been brushing my Catahoula with a wire brush and then spraying her coat all over (including ears, belly and paws) with pure coconut oil….no ticks or fleas all year and we had a ton of rain this year. She’s in the woods daily. Plus she smells great! I think it keeps her coat too slippery for them to hang on?? Or maybe the fleas and ticks don’t like the smell? Also, no more scratching anymore 🙂
How does it work with black flies? Also do you clean off the coconut oil each evening or just leave it on?
@@journeythegoldenretriever No flies, no fleas, no ticks…and I rub it in her coat and in her ears and even on her paws…which she licks off. But my Catahoula is short haired and this breed can be sensitive to ornamental grasses and plants.
Honestly her fur absorbs it and no issues if I keep it up daily.
Can you tell me do you dilute it with water? I have a jar of organic coconut oil & I used it when my furgirl had matts.
💖Thank you so much💖
He’s the best! Share, share, share 🤗🙏
That's virtually the same as the fly repellent we used to use for our horses. Only we would use citronella extract rather than lemon . Used to work better than the shop bought stuff😊
I made that spray my dog ended up with flea eggs on his skin. Minature Schnauzer. I now use ADvantage II . Cleared up the fleas in 24 hours.
🍀💕THANK you again to our one and only dr Jones from🇩🇰🍀
I still love the Neem Oil spray!
I’ll try that today😉. I had treat the dogs , it got really hot and I got attacked by fleas. The flea bites lingers on my body for over 2 weeks.
I’m Italy I use so much thyme for my arthritis pain have it as a tea. This is good what you are making for my cat ❤❤❤
I love all your videos DR. I always tell my friends and family about your channel . Tula is so cute! She is in a very good hands ! She is lucky to have you as her Dad . Thanks doctor ! We love you in these house 🥰❤️🐶
Thank you! ❤️
@@VeterinarySecrets Is this spray ok for kitties too?
You can also peel a lemon and get just the skin so cut up like you showed and add a couple handfuls of just the lemon skin for good measure.
Awwhhh cute choc colored puddle poodle‼️🌹🌹🌹🌹
Here in Norway we have only ticks. Lots. And I used lots of repellants on my Tibby mix as we are out a lot. I found out Coconut oil was very effective. But I always check her fur. TX for exellent tips dr.😊
I like to salt the water not sure that does anything here LOL
DOC what do u think of adding bayleaf or Rosemary?
I read bay leaf was very toxic to cats but I wish he would touch on all those that are and dosage for them .
I agree. Essential oils in the lemon skin would boil away. I was thinking a few drops of lemon essential oil might help. Just my thoughts....
Thank you Dr. Jones keep the help coming appreciate honest help!
Dr Jones you remind me of the movie Easy Rider. Free Love, Anti War and Give Peace a Chance. One of my greatness honors has been buddies remember me by my dog's name. Thanks.

You are so good. I love watching 👀 your videos. Thx for sharing this with us all. ❤😊
You are so welcome 😊
Can we use essential lemon and thyme oil instead??
Thank you, I have used the ACV for many years, never used the lemon, and thyme. I do put the lemon in my fur babies drinking water as well ACV or lemon in their drinking water. I use about a cap full added to water.
I think i could use my organic lemon essential oil & organic thyme essential oil add to my braggs apple cider vinegar..then add the water..🧐
Thank you so much, you're the best. God bless
You're welcome!😊
