Thanks for doing a great video. This video touches on the highlights of photography enough to give some insight into what the settings mean for an inexperienced photographer like me, while not going so deep that it turns into a photo class. Best thing was the differences in the settings for people who will edit afterwards (post-production) vs. those who won't (like me). Also a great idea to have the recap at the end. Very well done!
As always a great video. Just one comment: especially for skiing I find linear + horizon leveling to produce a more cinematic experience. In your skiing examples you can see how especially agressive turning may be a bit motion sickness inducing.
Glad you gave the settings for skiing and biking since I do both. I went skiing a few days ago and mostly used 1080/30 and the footage came out very clear. I tried some slow motion with 2.7k/120 but my IMAC struggled to edit the footage even though I created proxies...probably would be the same with 4K. QUESTION: do you capture 4K footage then slow it down in your editing software or use the go pro app? After filming all day I find it difficult to see what I filmed in slow motion..any tips appreciated
Hi, I use an IMac (2012) too and yes, sometimes it is a pain to edit those files. The problem is the H.265 codec which is used for 2.7K/120. If I remember well the camera still uses H.264 in 4K/30. This should work much better on your computer. I edit everything in FCPX and never use the GoPro app. I put everything on a timeline and then select the most interesting parts.
My current GoPro in HERO 7 Black. I use it on my KTM motorcycle. I recently shot my most cinematic video in 4K at 24 fps. Although I have Protune turned to on, I don't do very advanced editing. I have my ISO min et to 100 and max to 1600. Should I be reducing my max ISO to 400 and will this maintain a sharp image? Thanks. cam
What would be the best audio settings for a motorcycle with the GoPro in a protective case? (To protect against debris strikes) Maybe an external mic? Thanks for all the great information!
Thanks for the great content on your site. I just got a new iPhone 12 Pro Max and want to start shooting more video but I come from a stills background. I also wanted to use the phone as an action camera on my motorcycle travels and not carry a dedicated action camera. Do you have any experience using the iPhone as an action camera and any advice?
Hi Cliff, no not really. As you can imagine, i usually use the GoPro for such purposes. With an adapter you can also attach a smartphone to most mounts, but there is of course the risk that the smartphone is damaged.
Goodevening sir, I have a question. How to restore the Photo Setting because my Gopro Photo Setting it became Max Photo Setting? My sister borrowed my Gopro Hero9 Black. She wasn't sure if she had pressed something by accidentally because PHOTO Setting it became MAX PHOTO Setting but the VIDEO Setting & TIMELAPSE Setting has not changed. I hope you can help me. Thank you
What would be best audio settings when motorcycling with GoPro in a protective case? (To guard against debris strikes) Maybe an external mic? Thanks for all the helpful information.
Hi Werner, thanks for those video you put on UA-cam...they are very useful for beginners of the video editing!!! I have a question for you by the way: having a go prohero 11, which is in your opinion the best PC or the bst specs to search for to make a proper video editing? thanks a lot!!!
The main problem with the 180° rule is that you need to avoid overexposure. Therefore you will need to use ND-Filters. But be aware that the electronic stabilization will suffer.

Hey, toller Content! Vielen Dank!
You mention increasing storage on the card 👍🏽. Should you also mention the speed of the card, too? I'm currently using the standard v10 card that came with the gopro and crashed and overheated the GoPro trying a 4K timelapse. v30 card would do it. Would not the same happen at 4k/60 or 5k?
@@MountMediaChannel you are right. I just checked the card and it is indeed a v30. 🤯 Sorry about that. I will look into your video about the overheating and see what I find.
Top UA-cam channel!! Thanks for the useful videos. Unfortunately this year we don’t have too much possibilities to shot videos while skiing... un saluto dal Veneto🦁 e continua così😉✌🏻. Speriamo di poterci godere al meglio le nostre meravigliose montagne che abbiamo durante l’estate e inverno prossimo 🤞🏻🤞🏻
So you don't change much even when skiing in a big shadow (the area you showed while recapping), but on a bright day, right? It's still should handle it with the range 100 - 400.
Thank you for informative videos. I have a question about my Here 8 black. When I shoot in 2.7K, Audio slows down and my voice comes out very thick. What do you think is the reason for this? Thank you so much
These are compression artifacts that occur due to the UA-cam compression - the only thing that really helps is to export and upload in a higher resolution (4K) - I made a tutorial about this topic - you can find it on my channel.
Thanks for the great video. I have a question for you. Which one you prefer skiing with front of helmet mount 2.7k 16:9 superview or 2.7k 4:3 wide lens ?
Thank you for the nice tips, but they do not make a difference when YT simply makes every movie in much worse quality than what I see on my PC. I've tried different render settings and no luck.
I've watched a LOT of Gopro tutorials on youtube, and yours are consistently among the best. Thanks for posting!
Thx Caleb!
Congrats, almost 100K!

Hello, do you have video for best CAR POV settings for GoPro? I tried to find one but I was unable. Great content btw!
Hello. With more program you convert the 5k-4k videos, to upload them to you tube? Thank you.
Great video and info - thanks. But howcome I only have 50 fps and not 60 on my GP / Black? I prefer to record in 1080

Yeah best to use an external mic or low-budget use your phone in a sock mounted in a belly bag for audio recording

Personally i love the 5k30 for walking videos, it has excellent image quality :)

Hi Marco, personally I'm using a Mac - on PC things are very different - I think you should look for a good graphics card and enough RAM
@@MountMediaChannel Thank you!!!
Shutter speeds on Go pros in general not action when wanting to achieve the most cinematic look ie 180 rule. What settings do you advise?
The main problem with the 180° rule is that you need to avoid overexposure. Therefore you will need to use ND-Filters. But be aware that the electronic stabilization will suffer.

Hi Rob, doesn't GoPro ship a Sandisk Extreme (v30) together with the camera? Check out my tips and tricks video for the overheating issue.

Nice one bro TY
What fps do you recommend on motorcycle video on helmet 4k/60 or 24
For that purpose I would recommend 60fps
Thank you!! 👍🏻

I'm confused on why you would want to shoot 24fps over 120 or 60fps? Isn't it much more smoother the higher the fps?
Yes, but 24fps will give you a much more cinematic feel - all professional movies are shot at this frame rate.
What is the solution for gopro pixxalation problem after upload to UA-cam.
These are compression artifacts that occur due to the UA-cam compression - the only thing that really helps is to export and upload in a higher resolution (4K) - I made a tutorial about this topic - you can find it on my channel.
GoPro hero 9 or insta 360 one r is better for ski free ride videos
thank you very much :)!
