This is the first tutorial I’ve actually been able to sit though and not be bored. Just bought one today. Thanks for all the tips and tricks guys!!! Happy GoProing!!!! 💪🎉😊
Well I just watched all of your video. Not sure I've ever watched an entire set up video! It was great and I really appreciate it. I'm tuned in now (Never in 7 years and over 2k videos have I ever changed many of those settings) and looking forward to the sun coming out so I can go try. Thanks
Great video. I love my hero 11 and know a fair bit about the settings but I learnt a lot in your video that will def improve my future footage. All the best.
I just purchased a GoPro Hero 11 Black camera. I watched and followed your directions “almost” to the letter. The results are incredible!! I’m not a You-tuber or have any intention of editing my videos like you do, but your recommendations are spot on for the camera settings. The quality of the videos are amazing. The mountain bike videos are fantastic. I ride in Duluth, MN where we have very gnarly, raw, rocky trails and the GoPro Hero 11 Black works great. The Duluth trails are only one of six trail centers in the world that are gold rated by IMBA. The need for a quality camera and having the correct settings is essential for creating great video. The stabilization feature and the Hyperview setting is wonderful. Thanks Ryan for your suggestions. I appreciate it.
I am always curios about formatting the card in camera vs on a pc/mac. Most of the time I just delete the files and directories on my pc and let the camera write all the files and directories on the card on boot.
Perfect tutorial! I agree with the previous comment about being able to sit through the whole video without getting bored. I bought a go pro 11 to start motovlogging and its nice to see a similar content creator go through the settings and explain each one clearly.
Just got the Hero 11 Creator Edition on sale at Best Buy yesterday and this video helped make my shots look a bit more 'pro' even though I'm a complete beginner who's never had a GoPro before. Filming the ducks at my local pond to practice before an off-roading convention in Flagstaff, AZ.
Once you change those settings, do the settings remain locked in each time you turn the camera off, then back on? Or, do you have to click something to lock in the settings?
Thank you so much. I just got my 11 and used all of the tips on this video. Taking it the bike park tomorrow. so stoked to run it with the new Loam Ranger Pro Tune !!!
Wow great job! Thank You Capt. Vic I will be capturing customers fishing trips. Any tips for Head mounts. Thinking about mounting on my landing net using like a selfie stick before netting fish. Capt. Vic
I would really appreciate the help here, what are the best settings for quail hunting, what view and settings are the best, I want the best out of it. I usually enter the field early in the morning before after sunrise. Thank u
Great Video, I have learnt more from this video than from the GP site. I am having some trouble while filming indoors, A lot of severe flickering from the indoor lighting any tips? Anti-flicker does not seem to make a difference.
Thanks for the info, cleaar and concise. My first Gopro arrived yesterday and I've tried it, which was awesome! I can see how yoour tips will help improve the recordings I make on my next outage so much appreciated
This is one of the best video’s out there on the internet about the GP 11!! In detail about all the settings, now I will go kill it with my GP11 that I just bought!! Thanks man
Thanks for this video.. Just upgraded from the hero 3 to the 11 and was a bit lost on what to set it to.. I've only used it once in the woods here in Australia and found the video over saturated.. Can't wait to try these settings.. Thanks again 👍👍
Spot on as usual! Thanks Ryan! One tutorial I'd like to see is how to break up the footage into clips, edit them, and get them uploaded to IG, and especially now with the new 11's cloud upload feature.
Hi guys. Ty. Learned so much..is there any setting in full frame that has horizon lock...i use it when whale watching off of small boats in hawaii...when you stick the pole overboard... thoughts please.
My first time ever to own a GoPro camera. I bought my from Costco. I got the GoPro Hero 11 Black. As a beginner I am learning a lot from this shared tutorial info of generous “the Loam Ranger”. Thank you 👍
I'm using this video as a guide but I am using a DJI Action 5 Pro which has a built-in colour temperature sensor. Does this mean I can leave the white balance on auto since the camera is able to accurately measure the correct colour temp?
Your tips are the best in the industry, I get the best footage using your settings. From my old Hero 4 to my newer 10 and just started experimenting with a new Hero 11 Mini. Never realized the thing on the side of the 10 was a "water mic" so now I need to cover that with a dead cat. Deadcats on the Mini will be a little harder as the one on top is really close to the micro display and the record button. I have so much footage, I just need to spend time editing. Which again, using your tutorial is the best, but just time consuming when done infrequently.
Thank you for sharing, this is a truly excellent video explaining the Gopro 11 which I have and use when flying, I will try out some of the settings you suggested... Great Video...
Everytime I heard “if you ask me…” I keyed up because that meant the good stuff was right behind it. Thanks for sharing this awesome info! You referenced a few times that you like to color grade and doctor it up in post….are there any settings mentioned that you’d avoid for those of us that either don’t or wont do any color correction in post?
It was the color setting to flat that I've been tryin to figure out the whole season to sort out the high contrast when filming biking stuff, thanks for video 🤙🤘
@@griffmtb true like 2 years ago. it would be nice to see a newer one with the hero 11 since its got 10 bit colour and the other updated stuff over the 10/9
HERO11 Black has reworked exposure control that means it does a better job at avoiding blown out highlights. You might want to experiment without the old -0.5EV and see how you like the results.
Very useful video, thank you very much. This is my first GoPro, and it's the 11. One of the first things I did was to change the finger mount to one that also includes a quarter inch screw which makes it so easier to mount onto a mono pod or similar.
Hey there, Excellent video. However, one point I have found with Max ISO, I use my gopro for adventure motorcycle riding (with ND filters to get some motion blur) and I found that GoPro cranked up the ISO MUCH EARLIER than with other DSLRs. It seems to be optimising for faster shutter speed. So obviously if I'm putting ND filters on the camera to get some motion blur in my shots, this was fighting the autoISO. So I now lock max at 200 iso and just go a bit lighter on the ND filter. This is working well for me.
@@fiskiee_fpv Several reasons. 1) 180 degree rule doesn't work for motorcycle riding. If I'm using a shutter of 1/60 sec, then 180 rule would make the shutter 1/125s. I've done a number of tests and for adventure bike riding I'm targeting a shutter of around 1/250sec..... Slower than that gives too much motion blur and risks interfering with the image stabilisation. 2) If you lock your shutter, the only way to adjust exposure is auto ISO. I'd much rather use shutter and keep image quality by not running high ISOs.
Thanks for this!! Just got my Gopro yesterday and I’m excited to try these settings. I live in Humboldt Ca. with lots of fog, redwood trees and grey days, so I’m thinking these settings will help big time! 💯
Extremely helpful. I actually broke that little piece but it snapped back on and I glued it back. Going to recommend your video to my friends and family. I plan on taking a trip to the Guadalupe Mountains during Easter. Can’t wait!
i’m waiting on my 11 to squeeze past 🎅as he returns home, then of course there is the Postal Strikes etc etc….BUT, it will arrive 🤣🤣. Gave my 9 away to a fellow photographer …. Really liked this overview and found it extremely well produced, no nonsense and full of GOOD advice. So just subscribed and 👍
Thanks great I was confused before as only looking at Hero 10 instructions so different to my Hero 11 so now I can use it properly. Very clear and informative.
Great video! I actually came back to hit the thumbs up and leave this comment after I applied all the settings you showed us to my GoPro Hero 10. I was actually watching these videos to consider purchasing a newer GoPro because I've always hated the video quality out of mine! I got a few of the settings right on my own but missed the whole bit rate, white balance and EV settings, GoPro menus are hard to navigate for the first-time user -- I didn't even know some of these settings were there! 🤣 THANKS!
Just got my 11 and my first ride looked awful was so dissapointed, just put all these settings in so hoping my next ride is worth adding to my channel. Thank you
Awesome video! Especially at the 19:40 mark for the reccomended settings that you described. Took a screenshot for later reference. Well done video overall. Thank you both👍

You did GoPro'ers like me a huge favor by explaining all the settings really thoroughly. Thank you for those tip!

This video is so helpful. I liked it as soon as you gave the tip to reformat sd cards to reduce the chance of corrupted files!
That was very informative, I rode today on Labour of Love with your settings, lets see how it worked
Thank you for sharing this information 🙏

I’ve got the mini as I wanted less to brake. Worth noting I managed to change all the setting described via the app pre ride. 👍🏻👍🏻 great vid. Thanks.

What new cloud upload feature? My Hero 11 has the same old cloud upload as my old Hero 6. Am I missing something?
Me as well

Linear + Horizon Lock ?

Loved that you leave a summary at the end! Great vid!
