This is so true. I’m so lucky I was in high school when Aenima dropped. Managed to see them 18 time during the Aenima/Lateralus tours. They completely changed my life.
In August when this dropped, I looped this song for 4 hours, sitting by a fire close to the beach in Rhode Island, sipped my Cabernet, wept like a baby and started logging about my life so my beautiful daughters could someday understand what makes their dad tick, that’s some damn unbelievable power of music. Discovered Tool as a young teenager-10,000 days was already several years old when I first heard ‘The Pot’ late at night on my local rock radio station. Spent the next several years delving into and relishing their entire discography back to Opiate days. Found some special physical copies including a Lateralus vinyl, which I still regard as one of the primary vehicles in my musical and spiritual awakening. I didn’t wait as long as many did for their new album, but it was a long 8 years since first discovering their music. I remember listening to this song for the first time at midnight of the full album release. Thinking not only about myself but the people who have followed this band since their inception and waited over a decade for this music, the fans who died waiting... When that first massive drop after the first verse hit me, I wept more openly than I have in a long time. It launched me out of my body. Even after dozens of listens, I’m still overcome with joyful laughter or happy tears, and filled with optimism listening to this song. The fact that this album hit #1 in 2019 gives me so much hope for the future of music.

Big Thank you to Tool for preforming here in CT .Definitely feel blessed to have had the opportunity to see Tool preform live . They put on an absolutely killer show.
I love that you said 'journey'. Some just don't have the patience to take the ride. Those that do, wow, damn, tool never ceases to amaze and always takes you somewhere you never thought to go. Glad you dug it, and gave it the time to HEAR it.
Welcome to the Toolverse....we have our fine Arizona hillside vineyards to your left and a plethora of all the 'gasms at your disposal. Each time you listen to the same song you have a different experience. Truly a gift given to us mere humans.
I absolutely love watching new Tool fans being born. I love your reaction videos. Seeing people start to peel this onion is awesome. For people who want to dig in, Tool has so many layers. Sonically, it is beautifully crafted. I don’t even consider myself a “Metal” fan. But, as it seems like you might agree, Tool really transcends genre. Then there is the odd metering. Then I realized it is often not a single odd meter, but often a lot of odd meters within a single song. Going between 5/8 and 7/8 and 13/8. One of their songs changes meter 50 times. Then, I realized sometimes Danny (the drummer) is keeping multiple time signatures at the same time. Playing 3-4 different time signatures at once. Then I realized sometimes her keeps one time signature with the low end in time with the bassist, and an entirely different, syncopated but resolving signature with the guitarist. Then I realized they don’t use over-dubs or synths. Everything you hear is 4 people playing something they can play on stage without overlaying tracks. Then, I found out they wrote their songs “backward”. The instrumentalists crest the song, THEN Maynard creates his lyrics over top of it. Instead of starting with the lyrics and singing and having the guitarist, bassist, and drum create a sonic environment around the vocals. Then, I noticed how the record with the singer’s voice set back into the music. It isn’t the center piece. It is an accompanying instruments. Then, the Global influence of their styles. You can hear Middle Eastern calls to worship, Gorgonian chant, R&B, and Blues influenced rock all in the same song. Then, Maynard’s lyrics; his intellect and the constant push and pull of his desire for Spiritual belief against his attachment to empiricalism and his drive to overcome who he is to become who he should be. It really transcends music. Love seeing you taking the journey with the rest of us. Highlight of my night.
By pure accident discovered your channel, and for the past 3 hours i've been watching your reactions and the joy you experience when you find gems like Tool! I've grown up listening to them. They are a True ezoteric experience. Best wishes all the way from Romania!
I love your approach as a listener, you always take the time to hear whats being offered before giving an opinion. it's beyond respectful, and it inspires me to remember why I love music so much.
My husband who's 8 years younger than myself got me into Tool again. I listened to them in the 90's when I was a teen but the videos used to freaking give me nightmares. At the age I am now I greatly appreciate their music now as full fledged adult..He took me to my first Tool concert this past November in Raleigh, NC and I'm going to see them again January 2020 in Atlanta, Ga..Its awesome see some of us African Americans listening to so many other genres of music, but then again I was always the oddball who carried the big cello around my neighbourhood..lol. Thanks bruv, good too see you enjoy the music..
Yes!!!! I recommended you doing Tool a few videos back but I wish you started with their earlier hits. Pneuma's amazing though. New album after 13 year years and it went to Number #1. Try out.....The Pot, Vicarious, Lateralus, Forty Six and Two, Parabol/Parabola. Also do lyric videos with Tool because their videos don't always go with the song and it can be confusing.
I love witnessing someone's first Tool experience. So cool. You're absolutely right about it being a journey. Maynard wades into some pretty deep and interesting water, with his lyrical content. And the band always kills. Beautiful stuff. The wait for their new album was long, as usual, but well worth it! I'll be keeping this in rotation for another 7 years. 😆
Child.. wakeup. Child.. release...the light. Wake up now child. ❤ I feel there is bits of undertow in this album especially with Adam & Justin. In saying that the growth in our band is obvious throughout this album. Can't wait to analyze the tracks past 2 because I'm still rewinding to FI after pnuema lol. Thanks for the reaction & thanks for the gift tool. Toolsince92' \m/
I've been so tied up watching the Vic Firth, Danny Cary HD drum video. I can't get enough of that video. Had my JBL's on this morning....walking the dog. This is an incredible song! 2 songs, this and Invincible got me through the whole walk 😲
More Tool for sure. Its quite the experience and since I cant go back and listen to them for the first time, its great watching others journey through it.
Those are mandala drum pads you're hearing when you think they are bongos. Danny Carey is a magician behind the drums and not another drummer like him on this planet! Search UA-cam for Danny mandala drums and you'll find some videos how he sets them up. They are very dynamic drum pads that can make any sound you can think of all across the pad. He sets up the pads so that he can switch complete sounds on each song they perform. Loved your reaction and it's really cool as a long time Tool fan to see people react to new songs!
As a TOOL army member in my 40s, I am really enjoying watching these young folks getting their faces melted! Welcome to the fold. Spiral out, keep going.

Invincible is another amazing one of this album.. especially if your a Gen X'er like me. Hits home.
Ultraspontane wait till you hit 40
100%
Makes you wonder if MJK is questioning his mortality as we all are?
Invincible should be the battle cry of middle-aged men all over America.
@@redredred1 *the world.
Saw Tool preform live at the Hartford Civic Center back in the day with my good friends,Absolutely mind blowing experience that will never ever be forgotten.
If you see them live....you will not be able to comprehend how great they are
Every Tool and APC record is a masterpiece.
Got to see Tool live in Jan of this year ( Fresno, CA) and they played this song..was crazy!!!!!! You can't even imagine. Also, Jamal you're adorable
Thank you so much for appreciating that masterpiece! This album and all the other Tool albums have made my life a better experience
Welcome to the Toolverse....we have our fine Arizona hillside vineyards to your left and a plethora of all the 'gasms at your disposal. Each time you listen to the same song you have a different experience. Truly a gift given to us mere humans.
To quote a comment I saw a couple weeks ago "LSD takes TOOL to go on a trip"
Lmao that's a good one!
That is great!
😜 See them in Berlin 2019. Awesome Band, masterpieces of Songs, with a great live show.
Word
a ”chocolate chip trip”?? 😁🤣🤣
There is now a drum cam of Danny playing this live. Amazing to behold!!!!
By pure accident discovered your channel, and for the past 3 hours i've been watching your reactions and the joy you experience when you find gems like Tool!
I've grown up listening to them. They are a True ezoteric experience.
Best wishes all the way from Romania!
Greatest tool masterpiece ever! It’ll take a year to sift thru the layers!!! “Eyes full of wonder”!
How can a song be so good and full of meaning at the same time. This band is just amazing
Hell...YEAH...Willie Pete..!!!
I love your approach as a listener, you always take the time to hear whats being offered before giving an opinion. it's beyond respectful, and it inspires me to remember why I love music so much.
Thank you for sharing your reaction. I’ve always said tool is an experience few understand they’ve gone through. You sir; realize that experience.
The band makes the music sends it to the lead singer then he writes the song around it amazing process.
Very common
This is why I appreciate your channel. You wait and want the best. Thank you
Tool. One of the greatest. Thank you for the awesome reacrion!
Listening to Tool meditating with my headphones on literally makes me cry.
I greatly appreciate your genuine fondness of the music I've been listening to my entire life. ... Thank you!
Everytime I looked at your shirt I thought "I don't have it WITH me...."
Han shot first.
That's not the firth or even the thecond time you thaid that..
I always enjoy watching videos of people first being introduced to Tool!
I get to see them live for the first time here in Cincinnati on November 5th. Can’t wait, they are one of my all time favorites.
I have loved Tool from Opiate. I can’t even say I’m a fan. It’s more than that. This songs makes my eyes well up
Opiate is such an underrated album.
Love Tool...Love ya t shirt too sir!
This sounds even more delicious weeks later.
Mmmmm! mmm! Damn right!
Was just thinking this. I just can't take all the album at once. I've been dividing it by chunks and now I can appreciate the whole thing much more
Like lasagna
The mastery is mind blowing and then listen and listen more and you grasp the meaning of it and .....you are now in another galaxy completely.
Child.. wakeup. Child.. release...the light. Wake up now child. ❤
I feel there is bits of undertow in this album especially with Adam & Justin.
I urge you to listen to Lateralus. It’s of a higher plane. When taken, in full, there’s nothing else like it
ua-cam.com/video/W4aS7ZZwgrg/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/mYKLvYGqaC0/v-deo.html
you mean the whole LATERALUS album
Literally the album that all albums will be judged by for the rest of eternity.
That song is directly connected to the higher level of being.
This song gives me chills every time I listen to it. One of Tools best songs.
I’m loving your channel man. I love seeing you appreciate the music and I can just hang back and listen to amazing tunes 👊👊
WOW! what a song ! first time hearing this song , i've listened to TOOL before but this song is exceptional !!!
Next song has to be invincible... Cuz it's the next song on the album. Lol great song after great song. No other band is comparable, I think
Ubiquinoxx Rosiles any of the grunge stuff is to me but this really defines art grunge to me is music
Only certain Grateful Dead performances.
Invincible is un-freaking-real.
FLOYD
Pink Floyd, that's it.
As a TOOL army member in my 40s, I am really enjoying watching these young folks getting their faces melted! Welcome to the fold. Spiral out, keep going.
Spiral Out Bro. We'll see you on the other side.
that is cool quote from maynard!!!
On the other side...On the other side...On the other side...On the other side...On the other side...
Me watching you listening to Tool songs for the first time makes me so jealous. They truly take you to another place. You need to go see them when things get back to normal.
I just wanna say that the audio in your video is perfect. Better than a lot of Pneuma's video on youtube.
I really love that four-minute stretch starting at about 7:45 that slowly builds and then comes in hard at 11:10. That's the kind of brilliance that keeps me coming back for more Tool!
New soul arrives in Hell: "You have been sentenced to be one of Danny Carey's drum heads."
