Between Maynard’s singin and lyrics and the guitar and bass it’s easy to miss just how amazing Danny Carey is on drums. He is literally one of the best living drummers today. His technical skill alongside his creativity is unmatched and it always perfectly matches the atmosphere the song produces. Really focus in on it when you re listen to any tool songs. It’s mind blowing what he can do.
Producer and musician Rick Beato mentioned Danny's fill on I think either Prison Sex/Swamp Song, a couple days ago, as #17 of his top 20 drum fills ever.
You can really tell the impact that Danny has on their songs when you listen to covers of Tool songs and they just don't sound the same because they don't have Danny providing that punch on drums.
Carey is a great drummer but he's just like literally 10,000 other great drummers...As a drummer for 40 years, I can appreciate how great he is but; technically there are sophomore jazz students at Berklee that would crush him; technically. But; I understand your passion...:)

I so greatly appreciate you feelin this. Tool is an experience. MJK is an anomaly. Your reactions are like so, genuine. Tool is a band that you really only get a chance to see live once in a decade. Love your lessons man. Keep it up.
I would say that, and this is my personal opinion, Tool is the closest thing this generation has to Pink Floyd in the aspect of, depth of lyrics the overlapping technical music constructed with the mixture of sounds much like Pink Floyd did 35 years ago. I love Tools music and Maynard is a lyrical genius.
Without hesitation, my favorite Tool song. AND my new fav (as of today, 6.29.20 I'm late) reaction by you Jamal. I LOVE the way you show me how I feel with this masterpiece. Shudders all up and down!! Whoooooo!
+Jamal_AKA_Jamal. The best way to listen to any Tool song for the first time is to just take it all in. Their entire band is all equally amazing, so trying to just focus on the lyrics the first time through makes it more likely you'll miss some amazing playing. Just take it all in, then you can concentrate on the lyrics the second or third time. Tool are one of the best bands out there, just close your eyes and relax your first listen through. You'll enjoy it all the more. I can tell you've already got today figured out though. Just stick with the audio only versions and keep rocking out.
Completely Agree, 10,000 Days my first Tool Albulm. Like he said, It Grooves. Why so many people concerned about lyrics?? Just listen to that Bass/Drum line. Everyone has to tell you something, push their beliefs on you, Maynard should write lyrics about that.
This is perfect. That is how I took in Tool at age 11. I had no CLUE what “Sober” meant and in fact when I first heard it on Radio/mtv(when they did music lol) I thought Maynard was saying Somber lol! Like you said I just vibed with the music, and then dove in with the lyrics. I kind of feel most bands should be approached this way it opens you up to so much creative expansiveness out there. Love your reaction! Spiral Out man! 👍😁🙂
5:23 you're about to pause to comment when you hear the guitar riff and back away slowly, hand up like "sorry, I didn't know this was gonna be so cool!" I loved that, and everything else. Great reaction video my man
Probably my favorite Tool song,....it's soooo good. The groove is ridiculous, the bass line, guitar, the vocal and lyrics -- it takes you on a journey. It's basically perfect. The Grudge is my next favorite by them.

I think this is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Yes! The bass rhythm is unreal. The solo leaves you nuttin your pants. MJK singing is on a level only few in human history has ever seen or felt.
Jambi
Seconded
Yes!...he'll dig that one swiftly!
Oh yes
Oh yea, if you're cruising through 10000 days, jambi is worth a listen
That's my favorite Tool song.
Always one of my favorites!! Love seeing people hear it kick ass the first time!!
10,000 Days is one of the greatest albums ever made.
I so greatly appreciate you feelin this. Tool is an experience. MJK is an anomaly. Your reactions are like so, genuine. Tool is a band that you really only get a chance to see live once in a decade. Love your lessons man. Keep it up.
12 seconds in Jamal pauses, looks at the camera....and I say "Yup" out loud.
I loved watching him react to some of my favorite music. Glad I clicked on this guy.
212 X Agree. I think Zeppelin also. Zeppelin had 4 members that took on a 5th element like tool and we’re also pioneers in rock
Bold fucking statement. And I agree!
Porcupine tree also
Without hesitation, my favorite Tool song. AND my new fav (as of today, 6.29.20 I'm late) reaction by you Jamal. I LOVE the way you show me how I feel with this masterpiece. Shudders all up and down!! Whoooooo!
At 1:22 the most genuine reaction... “wow...” awesome! I can relate.
The day Justin joined they went up another level in musicianship and I love all their music. His sound/playing just adds to them.
Great reaction video my man
Try out some Brass Against and their covers of Tool when Sophia is singing.
Tool has some of the heaviest, funkiest and freakin dopest jams out there fo sho!!
You've got do Right In Two, bro. It's Beast
Big time. Lyrically spot on. And musically starts off soft and sweet, but ends up brutal as fuck. It's the perfect tune.
I love watching someone react to something I’ve heard a million times and head banging the entire time with them 🤘
Bro. What’s going on. You’re reacting to all my favorite bands. I love that you love what I love.
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Probably my favorite Tool song,....it's soooo good. The groove is ridiculous, the bass line, guitar, the vocal and lyrics -- it takes you on a journey. It's basically perfect. The Grudge is my next favorite by them.
Quoted from a hilarious video about Tool fans..
"Science is a Tool, and Tool is a Science"
All tool fans with a smile on their faces bobbing their heads right along with you loving the fact you are getting it.(you made friends when you didnt pause it)
The Grudge by TOOL you will love.
ted ritola nobody asked
He will literally have his mind blown by the scream.
thank god for tool, for rage, for so many musicians, thank to all and thank you Jammal!
"The Pot" calling the kettle black.
It's about hypocrisy.
Bingo
Yay!!! My favorite song! The bassist is freaking amazing!!!
Another fantastic drummer is snarky puppy’s larnell Lewis. I highly recommend checking out the song called “what about me”. Literally some of the best drumming of all time.
Can’t help but to smile when watching your vids man. It’s great seeing someone else experiencing what I experienced the first time I heard it. Very awesome. Keep up the great work.
One word! “Judith”
Wow ! You picked up Maynard's vocals so quick
Amazing !
