I am an American exPat living in Merida. Wish I knew you guys were coming. You saw some good stuff. That was the first Sat. of the month where they close Montejo for bicycles. They also do it every Sunday morning and the Zocalo on Sundays is also unique. Hope you guys did or are enjoying our city, if you are coming back let me know and I will point out some cool things to do or see too. Also, it would be great to meet you guys....maybe do a meet with fans when you go to a city? Just a thought.
At least 30% of the population of Yucatán speak maya today. And many yucatecos who only speak spanish learn since childhood many words and phrases from the maya language. We use them daily, especially adjectives and verbs to make jokes and have fun. We are proudly mestizos even in the use of our language.
Being Mexican I've learnt a lot of my own country with your videos though.....food, culture, traveling, transport, places where I haven't been to....your videos are becoming popular worldwide......yours has been a great work guys....Kudos!!!! And keep going.
I was supposed to watch a Netflix series but I ended up watching video after video of your channel. I'm learning a lot about my own country. Viva México, cabrones! :-)
Hello friends welcome to the southeast of Mexico, Yucatan the beginning of culture, without despising our neighbors of Chiapas and Tabasco, now you are at 1% of knowing the great peninsula, much to visit in Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo continue enjoying your stay in your Mexico a big hug friends
It was a pleasure having u guys here in Mérida ,i saw you filming the ball game and i decide to find u here in youtube, this video is amazing and u guys too, I hope see u guys soon ,gracias por venir a Mérida
Definitely a Virgos dream! Plan or miss the schedule! lol Glad to see how different you guys are finding Merida to the rest of Mexico! Thanks again for all your videos guys!
It seems that you guys are in a amusement park. I’m living the American dream and you are living the Mexican 🇲🇽 dream!!! Wish I could be in your shoes 😜
But it's real......Looking forward to moving there soon. Stayed for a while back in the 90s.....was an amazing experience of which I never forget. Feels so different than here in US. So free.....trip.
Hi guys..At 4:10 Pok-ta-pok demo game was insanely "hot". Cultural fact: If you were surprised that many people talk Mayan language in Yucatan is only one of many examples over 68 dialects that Mexico preserve as a cultural legacy. 😎
I love Merida! It's such a charming little place. I briefly stopped there for a few hours and enjoyed the crowds and traditional dances! Love you video amigos! Keep it up :-)
That's why I love your videos guys, you go and LIVE the real taste of every place, the "juego de pelota Maya" show a very important side of Maya culture....good for you!!..👍👍👋

Wow guys. You travel a lot. Im glad you chose my country to explore. By the way quisiera q me contaran si alguna vez se han sentido inseguros en México.
Pok-ta-Pok is COOL, loved seeing the players play with a ball on fire, its COOL that most people in the Yucatán still speak the Maya Quiche of their forefathers, sad that in other places its not the case. :)
It's nice to see you made it to the pok ta pok AND got a seat. Our recommendation of 30 minutes early was probably the bare minimum.... sorry. The plaza grande is not a very good place to find food as you found out. Las Gordas is the only place within 2 blocks (maybe 3?) of the main square that we eat at (I eat the tinga or rajas con papas). The gorda shells are corn but made from masa harina and not ground corn like tortillas here. The closer you are to the Plaza grande, the worse the food gets. There is a place a block west called Las Vigas that has cheap interesting food, it's up a stairway over the hotel Los Arcos. We've done that but generally we eat before we get there. Should have eaten at Noche Mexicana... the tacos cazuelas are quite nice. Noche Mexicana is the area where we ran into each other, the rest of the festivities are the normal weekly celebration - Corazón de Mérida. Cheers!
It was not the loser who was sacrificed, but the one who won. To better understand the logic of the ancient Maya consider this: What better time to go than at the time of your greatest achievement, your greatest feat for which you have prepared your whole life, when all are witnesses of your greatest moment of glory, or when you're old and nobody remembers you anymore? ¡MÁRE!!
It started with the losing team being sacrificed then they switched to the winning team. They did not think the losing team was a good enough offer to the gods.
They play that game in Guatemala also it's from Maya culture.they used to sacrifice people in the same place.its dialecto the Maya language.theres like 159 different dialectos!
My list of favorite cities in Mexico: 1. Guadalajara 2. Guanajuato 3. Merida (if it wasn’t so freaking hot it may rival Guanajuato)... also regarding where all the people are mid-day, check the malls And the newer Part of merida (air conditioning) Some friends I made during my 2 month stint there said only the old people and expats live and are around centro hehe although personally it’s my favorite part.
Goyo, On the previous video some people commented your spanish sounded great. After reading that, I noticed your accent was more neutral than the lady making the tortillas. Of course she had a Yucatecan accent.
Güeros queridos! This video was way too short! You guys seem a little worn down by that excursion to the cenotes and all that swimming and backflip diving, so how about getting a little breather relaxing in a park and going for some Jabalí con Relleno Negro/Wild boar in dark mole (Goyo, you will love it) and some Pavo con Relleno Blanco/Turkey in white mole (Hillary will trip) to charge up the batteries? The best place is Rest. Los Almendros, and they also make the best Sopa de Lima. I'm loving all your newer videos and I even started going back through all of them one by one so I won't leave a single one unseen! SIEMPRE CON TODO!!
That was sooooo freaking cool watching them play the ball game! Especially with a ball ON FIRE 🔥 Although it reminded me a lot more about basketball then it did soccer.... So my question is.... were the Mayans the first to invent basketball?!?!?!?! They are so cool, and I need to do a DNA test to find out if I have any Mayan blood in me haha
Keep smiling
Random question of the day: What is your favorite sport?

They are going to be here about 14 days
You can't do this in the US because someone will complain about the fire ball causing a safety hazard.
🤣😂🤣😂
But that's because the houses in the USA are crap; easily combustible with so much wood in them.

we have heard several versions of the story!
I think you said it incorrectly. the winning team was the sacrificed because it was an honor to die for the deity.
Horacio Aldana Exactly!!!! Good for you for clarify it
well, we have heard both versions of the story :)
well the good point is now there is no need for anybody to die..
It started with the losing team being sacrificed then they switched to the winning team. They did not think the losing team was a good enough offer to the gods.
One thing I hear about Merida is that it is the second most safest city crime wise in the continental (North and South) America.
