These guides are fantastic! I can't wait for your coverage of the remaining professions.
Thanks James!
been waiting for this, perfect timing!
Hope you enjoy!
Was really looking forward for this one, thanks!
Hope it helps!
Hey Penguin, I really really really love the way how you detailed explained all the builds. Great video, thank you for all your hard work.
Thanks so much for watching and Im really glad you enjoyed!
The best profession guide i have seen so far for dragonflight
Thanks so much Tuma!
Thank you for spending the time with the fun music as well of course explaining how dragon flight's inscription will work! I will be delving into it for my first time as I am actually a tailor at heart. I have an alt just about to hit 58 that will begin to dive head first into the wonders of it all! Now that everything is explained I will be doing Rune Mastery first then Archiving for draconic treatise and then inferno deck for my fire mage so they can get stronger during Heroic raid night or even Mythics. I am playing casual since this isn't my main just an alt.
yes, the video is good and yes, it makes a lot of sense. thank you for the detailed and thorough approach!
Thanks so much Ovidiu!
I love the mini movies!
Thanks for all the good info, Penguuu!! 😄
Thank you Xee!
I'm going to be linking this series for my guild, gotta make sure this quality content is viewed
Thanks so much Montell!
great job thanks
Thanks for watching!
Well, guess I'm having a good morning now. Thanks, Penguin.
Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks David!
Tattooing other players for cosmetics or stats would be kind of neat I think! Awesome video as always - watching this right before the Pre-Launch stream for Dragonflight!
I'll probably try to see if I can make and sell a bunch of Darkmoon Trinkets for my realm in DF! + the cosmetic stuff is always really nice
Thanks for watching Tess!
great video
Thank you Gervasio!
since there aren't a lot of profession-exclusive bonuses in DF I'd think going for what makes(or saves you) the most gold is the best.
Inscription seems like a very solid choice, there are so many different good potential options to make gold with. No way of knowing what will do great, but with so many options something has to be good lol. Obviously can't specialize in all of them right away, but lots of room to diversify as it seems to have a bit of everything and plenty of things that will stay relevant
I like your thinking! I personally am very excited about inscription this time around!
I didn't do rep grinds for contracts in SL early, I just couldn't be bothered. But I think this time I'm gonna really go for it and hopefully make tons of gold early. I was never early enough for this to make insane profits. Darkmoon decks will be my target as well and then usual suspects like glyphs. Pretty fun that we have actual weapons to sell as well.
Sounds like a good plan! Lots of people are going to want contracts so if you can get your hands on them fast, youll make a lot of gold!
That a sweet idea, give characters tattoos. Enchants for the body!
Back after watching the rest of the video - great as usual! Inscription is one of the first professions I’m sure I’ll be ramping up, so I’d love to have a solid plan, but it’s just so hard to know what the economy will look like. Originally I was thinking darkmoon decks, but I’m worried about aces. I hate farming for drops so I’d probably be reliant on the AH, and I’m worried their price will be so inflated in the beginning it won’t be worth it. I guess I’ll be making some quick decisions at launch, lol.
You got time to decide!
@@Penguinr2gt time? Yes. Psychic foreknowledge of my realms economy? Not so much. At least I know my options, lol
A note for potential Scribes...you can acquire BOE recipes from Fishing. I got 2 of the Proto-Drake cosmetic recipes today on Beta from Draconic Recipes in a Bottle. I also got Darkmoon Cards...don't sleep on Fishing if you have the patience for it.
Yes! Lots of BoE recipes for all of the professions come from fishing
I'm going straight for contracts. I want to build up my rep as soon as possible
Good luck!
Great videos as always, thanks! However, one small tip, it would be great if you could point over on each specialization and sub-specilization as I don't think you can view them anywhere at the moment.
You can view them for yourself right here! www.wowhead.com/beta/profession-tree-calc
@@Penguinr2gt Aren't you just perfect? Thanks a lot!
Hehe, I became fan of you. 😀 Let us know somehow if we can get the Twitch Drops by watching your streams.
You can! Come get your dragon kite!
Hi Penguin. What are your thoughts on the rousing and awakened elements. They seem pretty rare compared to how many are needed for all the crafts.
Thankfully the elements are gather-able so their is no sort of artificial time gating due to quests/cooldowns, etc. I would expect them to be expensive and a bit scarce at the start, but I expect there to be plenty to go around as we get further into the expansion... you can kind of relate it to the epic quality crystals for enchanting... they normally are really expensive at the start since epic gear is very hard to get, once people start doing dungeons and raiding, it becomes a lot more abundant. I think the same thing will happen with the elemental reagents, will likely be scarce as people are leveling up their gathering professions and focusing on storyline/leveling, as more people gather and complete quests and level up their skills, there will be way more reagents to go around!
I was so excited for this video I clicked on it while writing my grocery list. I accidentally added “gold making” to it - do you think that’s in the frozen section?
Might find it in the produce section!
do you know if you need to spec into making darkmoon cards to get those cards making drops? otherwise it seems going another route will be better at first while you wait to get drops
You do not have to spec into cards! Everyone has the ability to get cards… don’t even need to be a scribe!
Given how limited and timegated Knowledge is, it seems like it would be beneficial to have one character specialized in milling/inks and then another that makes the deck boxes.
How important are the optional crafting reagents (sigils?) for the deck boxes?
Really depends on you... I wouldnt recommend trying to go crazy with alts since it is alot of time commitment; however, if you have the time and alts, you can always do it! Just have to keep up with knowledge points grinding on each toon
In terms of sigils they will probably be in demand once people want high ilvl darkmoon deck boxes. With recrafting, crafting a normal deck box and adding a sigil later is doable for people trying to update as crafters get more advanced
Question are the Professional Treasures a weekly thing or a one-time thing for the profession
It is just a one time thing
hey penguin, one little question!
Can you change your profession "talents"? or are they locked in forever? And if you can change them, is it free? So could i just spec into multicraft, make all the inks, then spec and make the gambling cards, darkmooncards etc? Or would I need a second character to do so.
also, if we wanna go for the gambling cards, just spec multicraft or is there a specific tree for those to? I dont think they count as darkmoon cards.
You cannot respec at all, once you use a knowledge point, it is completely permanent
@@Penguinr2gt thanks for the quick answer! :)
Is there a viable "gambling cards" build, too?
Are higher end crafting components locked behind raids like usual? Or are there routes for pure crafters?
The BoP items that are used in high end gear are found by doing various activities not related to crafting - killing rares, completing dungeons, killing bosses, etc. so crafters can get them as long as they do content. You can find a list of these reagents and how to get them in my DF spreadsheet!
Penguin, i was thinking of switching my scribe to a new toon. I have a large amount of glyph recipes on my old scribe that i used to make good gold on, but with the AH merge that market seems dead. Any reason I should have any anxiety walking away from all those recipes in favor of more synergy with paired professions? (want my old scribe to be my blacksmith/miner since she's a plate wearer)
*Also, Since coming back after a long hiatus, TSM doesnt seem to craft stacks anymore (Craft All). Is that an error or setting on my side, or did that change in the last year to make us have to click each item in the queue?
As long as you are okay with losing your old recipes, then dropping a profession is completely fine. I am someone who is sort-of a completionist in terms of recipes so I never drop them personally and caution others to do the same. But if you go thru and have no recipes that are unobtainable/rare to get, drop the profession! I will say, if you plan to have herbalism and mining, I recommend pairing them together on the same toon instead of having blacksmithing/mining paired.
In terms of TSM, its not just you, I recommend joining the TSM official discord to see what updates they are putting out. Craft all was disabled and just yesterday got reactivated as long as the item requires no optional reagents
@@Penguinr2gt You're the best thx, Just rolled a monk for farming mounts (finally) & herb/mining makes great sense for him being he has a tank spec for the early xpac squishiness while farming. I've gone years w/out a blacksmith & have been at gold cap twice. I just feel the the FoMo!!!
sry i had notifications off but what is that mog, its so cool
It’s the season 14 gladiator set from MoP!
what is key?
Hey, I was wondering which profession to use with my main (Surv Hunter).
I discarded LW completely.
I'm between Alchemy and BS (weaponsmith).
But looking at this guide I'm wondering:
The Staves that Inscription does, are they just intellect or are there also agility ones ?
If there were Staves with agility then in general, I could get more out of Inscription than Blacksmith.
But I am afraid too, whether Inscription or BS, there is no way to know when Blizzard is going to put a 2H weapon with a major effect.....making profession weapons obsolete.
There are two versions of each type of staff - an intellect and agility version! For example, the Illuminating Pillar (intellect) and Kinetic Pillar (Agility) are the epic versions while the Overseer's Stave (Intellect) and Pioneer's Stave (agility) are the rare versions!
Curious which herb mills into which ink....
Saxifrage - Blazing
Hochenblume - Shimmering
Bubble Poppy - Serene
Writhebark - Flourishing
I don't know how to get my cribe past 65. Nothing is giving him points. Some one says I need to fulfill crafting order but I don't know how to go about it.
It all depends on your specialization path, renown and recipe unlocks. To find out what items give skill, go to your filter tab in your profession menu, select skill up and unlearned. All of those items listed will give you skill. Then you will have to decide if you need to grind renown to get the recipe, unlock it thru specialization trees or maybe it’s BoE and you can buy it off the AH
My main this xpac has been inscription since it was released so didn't even think of changing (Never giving up those BfA inscriptions). That said, I'm really disappointed in how Blizz has handled Inscription. There are just not enough recipes given that we now have specs within each profession. Having specs is almost like having separate professions it seems, as you are locked in (for now) to those recipes available to that spec and not the entirety of the profession as before. This wouldn't be a problem if there were enough recipes for each spec but for the path i took (General and then Treatise) there just aren't enough to get you leveled. Things might have been different if that AC rep cheese didn't exist but it did, so those who cheesed it have had the upgraded profession tools for weeks now and they have sucked up most of the orders that would have been delayed until others had gotten that rep. The only other recipes available cost 10's of thousands of gold each(Drake customization's) and have very few orders put in on them.
So I'm stuck at 73 skill and get maybe a couple skillups a week at this point. I've had zero issue with leveling Alchemy, Jewelcrafting and Enchanting to 100 so it feels like this is inscription specific (which fits the pattern for this profession)
As to making gold I honestly thought those treatise's would be selling like crazy given how important knowledge is. Either people don't know about them or people just don't take crafting as seriously as Blizz thinks they do. And of course those are so low level they wouldn't help with skilling up regardless. While orders do pop up for them it's just not in the quantity I expected and what drove me to go that route.
Caveat here is that I'm on a Medium pop RP server so there just isn't the high demand you'd see on Higher pop, high progression servers. It's Blizz's responsibility to take those differences into account though when designing systems and It looks like Inscription fell through the cracks.
Love your guides.
What are your thoughts on Herbalism/Inscription on my main and Mining/Jewelcrafting on my alt? I don't know that I have time to have a gatherer on one character and two crafting professions on another, so I want to make sure my main has what they need to skill up and produce, without being dependent on a separate gatherer. Thanks!!
She mentioned this in a previous video - it's more efficient to have both gathering professions on a single character to cover the weekly quests etc at the same time. But I think I'll be doing the same as you and having one gathering and one crafting on each character.
@@MattLovesCheese Thanks. Have you tried either of those combos before? How did it work out, if so?
Having two toons with gathering spread out actually increases the time you have to spend gathering and increasing your overall time you have to spend on your toons. I highly recommend grouping them together.
@@skipmcilvaine Yeah I currently have the professions like that on my characters, I find it's a benefit especially when levelling at the start of an expansion as you naturally gather while questing etc. But towards the end, I can see how it would be much better to have a dedicated gatherer character instead for when you want to go out and gather yourself. The downside is that it's a timesink at the start of an expansion when one naturally puts more time into a single character above all the others.... Difficult decision!
@@Penguinr2gt Thanks. I saw your video on that and I agree you can probably go from 20 (or whatever) hours of gathering a week to 12 (or whatever) hours, if you combine both gathering profs, but I'd rather spend 6 hours gathering on my main as I level, and have that be meaningful / helpful to my crafting profession, than spending 12 on an alt, to feed a profession on my main, and/or yet another alt crafter.
I don't have time to dedicate to alts. I'm not in this to make money, and I only have a couple hours a week to spend on an alt. I view your content as the best source of insight on professions, and not as money-making advice, so I'd appreciate your thoughts on those combinations from that perspective. THANK YOU!! 😊🥰
Are old world recipes going to play any role in Dragonflight in all professions at all?
nope! Old world progression is completely separate
@@Penguinr2gt -- Oh, I know it is separate. I was just wondering will it be relevant? You know like with them adding common gear to the transmog pool or any old recipes becoming more desired or even working in the new expansion.
is milling actually affected by multicrafting or resourcefulness? (there is no ""multicraft ot "resourcefulness" on milling recepie, but there is on burning ink, for example.) why spec into milling if all it gives is speed? better to put points into rune mastery general node to get same skill boost.
Yes it is! I've tested it myself on beta and multicraft will allow you to have a chance of gaining more pigments when milling and you will save herbs with resourcefulness
how easy is it to respec your profession points
You cannot respec. Any knowledge points you apply are permanent
I don't know... I've been staying away from Inscription every since it was cut off at the knees and made pretty much useless. Sounds like a good alt thing though if I have an overflow of herbs.
15:17 « so dependinq on how many crafters are on your server… » Isn’t that irrelevant ? Are these draconic treatises not supposed to be sold on the region-wide auction house ?
They are BoP, must be bought/ordered thru the work order system
How do you get war paints?
War Paints? Like from Draenor?
@@Penguinr2gt yes maam
You have a WoD daily craft you do and you can send in work orders at a inscription hut in your garrison for them
inscription gets hard shafted if you don't spend your points on cards or staff making... I wanted to go missives to make some money and I can make the missives, but because my skill is low they're only 2 star which no one really wants. If I would have known I'd get halted at 65, I definitely would have went somewhere else in the knowledge points.. Wish I came across this video earlier.
are aces on the AH region wide or realm specific? if it's realm specific, there may be huge arbitrage opportunity like in the old days.
Aces are stackable so they will be region wide!
@@Penguinr2gt thanks for the info
Do i HAVE to go to the dragonflight milling table to mill herbs now instead of pulling out my milling pot and doing it anywhere? Really? Wow they effed this all up.
I should have watched your guides first. E.g. I screwed up enchanting a bit I guess.
What did you do? Remember you can unlock everything so don’t feel bad if you went a path others didn’t!
@@Penguinr2gt I missunderstood "Rods, Runes and Ruses" - What I had wanted was "Insight of the Blue" and "Enchantment". Now I hope there is a market for weapons... :(
Oh, and I did assume that my choice would not matter and I would be able to "respec" if I made an error.
It might be easier to become a scribe in real life 😥
How contrived is this whole system? Thinking I may just entirely give crafting a huge body swerve, sounds as boring as *#$*
I love the new systems, but it really comes down to personal preference
Hello. I have a few very polite recommendations for future growth as a content creator: Work on eliminating the sing-songy voice. Your content is rock solid, but your presentation has room for improvement. It sounds a bit robotic. Also, think about revising your first ten second intro of "Hi guys. It's Penguin." The words are fine but the tone is abrasive / sing-songy. You are amazing at what you do, but I'd love to see your channel grow to its full potential. Take a look at your channel metrics and see if viewership drops steadily after the first few minutes. If not, I'm out-to-lunch and you can disregard my advice.
