Hey Everyone! Wanted to provide some more details in the comments that wasn't mentioned specifically in the video!
1. You can unlock Dragonriding and max it out within the first hour of entering the Isles, this is very important to do for Gatherers (You can find more info on that in my previous video of this series)
2. I mentioned that you collect Rousing Items from the Elemental Nodes you can come across. If you have PvP on and you loot a node that gives Rousing Ire (aka. Blood), you will gain a buff that when killing players you will gain more Rousing Ire. That is great for PvPers out there.
3. If you want to look at Profession Specialization Trees but don't have access to Beta, Wowhead has a great tool! www.wowhead.com/beta/profession-tree-calc
Thank you for the video, quick question Does the 25% deftness from highmountain tauren mining racial stack with the skill tree? or ?
Yes! It stacks
@@Penguinr2gt thank you!
the quality of your content & presentation is “s-tier.” these are among the best i’ve ever watched. i look forward to seeing your viewership increasing rapidly. -> just subscribed. keep up the great work, and whatever you do please don’t stop making videos : )
Thanks so much Colin! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and watch the videos!
Love how clear and thorough these guides are. Much appreciated!
Great video. I have been searching everywhere for info on what +Skill actually does for gathering. You're the only person to mention it!
Thanks Zach! I hope it answered your questions!
Omg this was so helpful ! Answered so many questions!!!! Thank you so much
Good video. Was looking for an in-depth explanation of the new profession system. First time on the channel and will sure watch the others videos of the series later on. Thanks!
Thanks Nicolas! Welcome!
Great video! So clear and easy to understand. It helped me a lot. I'll be watching the rest as I start leveling my characters.
I'm definitely going to do a lot of gathering. I really love it. I hate to have to pass up a node! I have only one double craft alt (tailor/enchanter) and it drives me crazy to adventure with her. My other crafters gather their one most essential material. Having more than one miner or herbalist will let me try different things on the trees. Probably. I hate that I can't change my mind, but I understand how fast that would be exploited. Crafting seems very interesting this expansion.
Thank you Friz! I’m glad you are enjoying gathering so far and I hope it stays fun! I appreciate you watching the videos and let us know how everything goes!
Paladin is another class worth considering for a full-time gathering character. They have options for self healing, self cleansing, full immunity from most effects with their bubble, and ultimately you’re wearing plate, so a lot of things you can just tank it and run away.
Also, worth noting is that while crusader aura will not boost your dragon rating speed, it will boost ground mounts if you were in a situation where that’s easier than taking off and landing for multiple short hops.
Awesome Pen thanks! Love me some gathering excited for this looks a lot more fun.
I hope you have fun!
Great video, very good format and very educational. Keep up the good work
Thanks zygo!
Yet another great guide! We are getting so close now, cant wait :D
Haha thanks Rasmus!
Lots of great information and as always very educational
Thank you forall this great info and videos!
THANK YOU for the breakdown (and recommendations)
Thank you for watching Elliott!
love u! brilliant content
Hey penguin, great content, thanks
Thanks Seethe!
Cool giude thanks a lot! Btw what's that mount that you're using at the end?
My main, a BM hunter, is going to be a gatherer (Herbalism/Mining). The reason for that is because he's the one who will be most outdoor, unlocking renown, doing world quests, farming mounts etc. All the material he gathers will then be funneled into my alts. Since, with some of them I mainly run dungeons or do PvP, they wouldn't get as far with gathering on their own. That being said, I'll start leveling 9 out of 11 professions starting on day 1.
Sounds like a good plan! Good luck!
Good job on this. Thanks for the content
Thank you double!
FYI that the cost of the +15 Knowledge Point items now cost 100, 150 and 200 Artisan's Mettle respectively. This was done to compensate for the first-time knowledge gain nerf that was implemented to discourage players from changing professions to harvest mettle. Thanks!
Hey yes! Updated that and the other Artisan Mettle changes in the DF spreadsheet!
Excellent video, thank you!
Thanks for watching Mathieu!
Thanks!
Skining specialisation question
I specced into bait crafting and last node gives me ability to summon special creatures at special locations. I can not find any info on where these special lications are. Anyone can help me out?
Hey, really good Videos! What zone of df is best for mining?
And is there a good way for decay farm?
Best wishes
Hey, the best farms arent really figured out yet... its ultimately going to depend on the price of herbs and everything like that. I imagine plenty of farming videos will start popping up around release so keep an eye out!
Great video! Just curious if you have an idea if we will be able to get the 35/40 knowledge points pretty quickly while levelling? It seems like all the 1st time mines, gathers and the weekly (6) rares may add up real quick to that first tier to be able to gather while mounted.
You can get it pretty quick! After about 1.5 hrs of gathering I had 17/35 knowledge points on my miner - that was only using the boundless knowledge rare items I got when mining, and of course first time gathers, no quests or other sources
ty for the info. im a chill, zoned out, gatherer. actually fun for me. was wondering what parts would change. good stuff!! 😃 Druid for life
Thanks Sad! I hope you enjoy the new systems!
Only change i can really see is for druid. No more flight form gathering. Its all done from the dragonriding now so all classes are equal, when it comes to gathering.
Hey there, really great video. I had a question regarding the dragon shard of knowledge, can you turn this in for each of your profession? Or do you have to choose between your profession which gets this, thanks for all your videos really helping me understand the exp more and more!
Hey whenever you turn in a dragon shard you basically have the choice of what profession you want to gain points! So let’s say you have 10 in total - you may choose to evenly split and do 5 shards for each profession. Or maybe you are behind in one so you put 8/10 shards into one while the other only has 2, etc.
Very good video. I have watched your entire series and really appreciate them. Going with a Prot Pally as Herb/Mining as I am hoping their ability to not be knocked off their mount continues in DF. Once he hits 70 I was going to Level my Warlock main with Tailoring/Inscription. Do you think it is realistic to be able to make say a 284 two handed staff by the end of the second week as inscriptionist? Thx again for the great videos.
You definitely can as long as you collect the BoP reagents. But you will have plenty of knowledge points! 384 is the base ilvl so you shouldnt have to worry about any extra optional reagents
Microphone, speech enunciation, speed in which your talking, and game info all really spot on. Great video
Thanks so much Daquiesce!
really? xD those tiny sentences and raised pitch at the end of each one... hard pass. great info in vid but nah. Moving on.

Hello Penguin.. thanks for your amazing guides ,, regarding Mining which specialzation are best to start with after Mining process ? would it be Metallurgy or mastering the elemants ?
You have two main options - either put points into the metallurgy tree which will allow you to refine materials (turn them into higher quality) or focus on bonus effect from elemental nodes with mastering the elements. Theres not really a best route to go... I would argue that being able to refine your gathering mats can help your crafter out if you plan on crafting, but many others will want to take the extra bonuses and effects that you get if you spec into the other
Thank you.
Ty , great info
Thanks Robin!
thanks!!!
Hey! Thanks for all the content youre bringing out - really enjoying it enough that I'm waiting for a new weekly video now :D
Just to make it clear: Bringing out a Tauren Druid, which provides travelling form and a faster herbing as a racial, and then enchant "faster mining" (which we had for the past couple expansions), would not yield any benefits in gathering herbs and ores at all? No faster gathering via racials/enchants and no druid travel form benefits at all this time around?
Racials still exist and are useful - the only thing that isn’t is Druid flight form since we have to dragon ride. Racials give +5 to your skill and 25% deftness which is your gathering speed. Potions and other things still work as well
The last part of the video covers the different racial abilities!
I wish on mini map they had 2 different color nodes so you knew what ore was showing on the map , be easier to know to dive for it if after a certain one
Addons will definitely help with that - normally I always recommend FarmHud which basically overlays the nodes and map in the middle of your screen so its way easier to locate nodes, just didnt have any addons enabled for beta!
@@Penguinr2gt Farmhud and gathermate2 are kinda must have.
Quality videos. I have a question, if it was answered in the video sorry. I'm just coming back, do I need to have say mining and herbalism maxed prior to df? Or is df a seperate situation? I did see it was 1-100. So I'm assuming it is in a catagory by itself?
All expansions are independent of each other! You dont need to have any prior herb/mining to start DF!
@Penguinr2gt Hey Penguin thanks for the video. I heard somewhere that with dragon riding we might run out of cooldowns to take off/soar and so that's where being an evoker might come in handy? Are you able to comment on that at all? Not sure if cooldowns are still an issue once you max out dragon riding?
Maxed out dragonriding is a way nicer experience compared to basic. Depending on how often you are stopping you may have to wait a short period of time but I dont think its enough to say that evokers are required for gathering. For the footage in this video I had basic Dragonriding and it wasnt that bad of an experience to begin with, even though I did have to wait. Of course evokers are already recommended due to their racial perception buff so having soar is just another bonus if you want to use it
Question about one time treasures, i plan to go full gathering on my main while i level up to 70 and then switch out those gathering professions to crafting professions as i will have bulk resources by the time i am 70 to work with. I want to know if those one time treasures can be used again for when i switch out of the gathering professions to crafting. If not then i will make sure to skip on looting them till i do make the switch.
Also one more question about class/race for gathering, i would like to use dracthry as you mentioned but did you ever had the issue of being dazed or swarmed by mobs while gathering in certain areas as evokers do not have a tank spec to help them from being dazed off there mount?
I really didnt have any issues with mobs during my 1.5 hrs of gathering. Sometimes I had to kill a few that were in the way of nodes but it really wasnt that bad
i have a question about druids. will they be able to use travel form for gathering or they have to use dragon riding too?
Flight form is disabled in the Dragon Isles, they have to use the new dragonriding mounts
There's a weekly scribe made scroll that can be used to increase your knowledge afaik.
Yes! You are exactly right - those also work for all professions (crafting and gathering)
thanks for share info , we can have dragon in first week for fly ? need max level charactor or something like that ?
You can max out dragonriding within the first hour of entering the Dragon Isles! (no max level required)
Thanks for all Pen ! do you recommend me to make gold in a full or medium population server? currently I play in Stormrage but I feel that selling BoE is very slow and other items too.
Really depends on what you want to do and your play style. The higher the pop the higher the competition, but also the more potential buyers
I keep seeing people mention one time treasures that you can find for knowledge points for each profession, is there more information on this or a list anywhere? I've been searching quite a bit to find out more but I have been unsuccessful so far. I have been flying all over the beta and even downloaded handy notes and couldn't find anything on there either. Any help would be appreciated.
There is not a lot of information out there sadly. Hopefully addons like Handynotes or others will have lists whenever DF goes live. Right there, theres just a handful of examples which is why we assume theres alot more, just haven't found them
very nice and informative, so the normal flying isnt a thing in dragon isles and the only way to fly is using dragon fly ?
Yes, you are correct. You can only dragon ride in the isles. This may change in a future patch, but not at launch
I have a question about skinning - I currently have 57% Deftness for skinning (169), but I haven’t noticed an increase in my skinning speed at all. It’s still the base 1.5 second cast that it was before I had any. At what point does this actually speed up the cast? Is it bugged or?
It’s currently not affecting anything in live rn. Don’t know if it’s intended or a bug
Hi again, tell me if I'm wrong, but one of the best uses (if not the only one) of "Artisan's mettle" for gathering professions is trade them for notes with the Artisan's consortium vendor, isn't it?
Hey you are right! It is a great use of your mettle. But You will spend your majority on BIS profession tools - each require 200-300 mettle each
@@Penguinr2gt Really? I didn't know that, if that's the case, where I can get that profession tools? Or what you are saying is that my other toons with a crafting profession can create the profession tools for my gatherers with the mettle?
@@asimokotobukiya4927 You need to order them thru the Crafting Order system - if you have an alt that can craft them , you can send a private order to them, if not you can place a public order that anyone can complete for you!
Is it possible to get professions craft items for the first time and switch to main profession for more mettles? Does it worth it?
You 100% can, just will be expensive
I love your series! I have a question which I haven't heard you talk about yet: is it still worth with the new profession system to level up my character to 70 with gathering professions, and only change to crafting professions which I intended for that character when I hit 70?
You can, however just note that you will lose alot of knowledge point progress. For example, if you drop your gathering professions and then move it to another toon, you start all over again. In terms of staying ahead, as long as you stay up to date with weeklies (So dont hold onto gathering for more than a week), you shouldnt fall behind in Knowledge for your crafting profession. But also, that only matters if you are worried about falling behind
@@Penguinr2gt My first concern was about the knowledge points too. Don't know if there will be a reset on Wednesday (EU). Afaik Shadowlands didn't have either right after the launch, but I don't know how it will work if there will be weekly and/or bi-weekly quests, and I don't want to fall behind, so I guess I won't risk it. :) I'll just max out my main and then hop on an Evoker to farm gathering. Thanks for the answer!
Yea, I assume they may wait a week before reset but I havent seen an article confirming or denying so I dont want to influence you with that as I may end up wrong. If you do decide to go gathering first, you could may a lot of gold at the start, and lets say you do miss a weekly reset you will basically be behind 3-6 knowledge points... so you can ask yourself "is all of the gold that I will be getting from gathering and selling raw mats early on worth the loss of 3-6 points?". Theres really no right or wrong answer, but that is a way you can think about it!
How is xp per node looking? Is it viable to level by gathering? Not concerned about leveling fast but getting in on the mats market right away, are there any roadblocks for a gathering character?
XP was pretty decent, I was getting 2300ish per node at lvl 62... I believe I went from a little less than 3/4 of the way thru 61 to almost 1/4 into 62 in 1 hrs... I didnt completely keep track of my level but it was pretty good XP. Like you said, no where near as fast as campaign but you could definitely level in a decent time with just gathering
whats the name of that scroll or idk what is that which gives you extra stats while gathering for 10-20-30 mins or so ? i cant find it :S i know there is also something for crafting.
There’s phials you can order off the work order system or you can buy primal razor stones
@@Penguinr2gt Thank you very much !
how often in your experience was nodes contested by mobs? because then having anti daze from prot specialisation would prolly be a huge qol vs evoker 2% perception
In my experience, not a ton! I mostly spent my time gathering in the Waking Shore as well as the Plains so I can only speak for those two zones, but in my experience the nodes were mostly clear. If i did ever have to kill a mob, it was one or two small ones.
@@Penguinr2gt aye yeah my plan was to fly away without having to engage in vigorous combat after/during/before gathering :) thank quick reply
Hello! I have seen your video, but i still have trouble to understand one thing... is there a way for me to guarantee a lvl3 herbs when im gathering? I mean, i play as a tauren so +5 for herbing, and also +6 from a tool = 156 skill for me, and the tool tip is saying herbs require 140 skill. So im above required for lvl3 gathering, but i still get a lvl2 herbs 99% of the time. Am i missing something?
Thank you in advance!
At the current moment there's no guarantee for Quality 3
@@Penguinr2gt thank you for replying
I'm doing tauren pala for no daze + crusader aura, personally i feel like if you gather, the most annoying thing is disruption, and tank spec entirely removes that once u can gather on your mount, so to me the dracthyr perception hype is abit greedy.
Completely up to you, I didnt run into many issues with mobs, but to people who do/get really annoyed by that, you can pick whatever you want! Perfect thing is that there is no 100% right answer
hi Penguinr2gt there is 2x4 farm in dragonflight like korthia in shadowlands?
It's very likely that there will be, but theres really no published farms out there atm
@@Penguinr2gt ty
Which areas are the best to be a gatherer? Should I get lvl 70 first?
There's not really any best farming routes published yet. It really depends on the price of herbs and then you will likely choose to farm in the zone that priorities that herb. Lvl 70 isnt required but I highly recommend maxing out your dragonriding
What are your thoughts on the weekly reset happening like 12 hours after release or do you think they're going to not do a full weekly reset? I'm just wondering if I have to get a full weekly thing in in the first night
Im not sure if thats happening or not. I haven't really find an answer online about the first reset. If it does happen, then yes it could be smart to try and do your weeklies that first day but it will be very hard to do - most people probably wont get that far... If it doesnt happen, then no rush! If I do find any solid information I will let you know.
I think in the past they would wait for a full week but Im not sure what will happen in DF
This happened with a previous launch where they just didn't do the reset on Tuesday so no one felt they had to rush insanely on Monday and do all the mythic0s / weeklies before reset to get ahead. I assume they will do something similar.
For me, as a casual player, who knows nothing about Dragonflight, this changes are too much complicated :/ Thank you for explaining everything very clearly! Keep it up
Changes can definitely be scary, and I know all of my long videos probably isnt helping the scary factor lol, but I promise you once you are actually playing DF everything will make alot more sense.
@@Penguinr2gt There is no doubt that it always seems difficult, but once you begin the process, it becomes much simpler. The same goes for Legion, BFA and SL :) Catching up as soon as possible is the most important thing i guess
The ability to not dismount while gathering is not showing up on the wowhead talent calculator. They're showing an entirely different reward for that tier. Do you know which is correct? Was one from an earlier beta build? And which one is currently implemented on beta? Sorry, lots of questions lol.
You may be looking at an out of date version. Someone had a similar issue. On my end, the ability is there. www.wowhead.com/beta/profession-tree-calc/mining/BAo5DB4FuPi
@@Penguinr2gt Got it, ty so much!
Why cant we use sky golem? Is it possible to fly in dragonflight most of the time?
You can only dragon ride in the dragon isles which requires the special mounts. All other normal mounts are ground mounts only
@@Penguinr2gt Is it possible to fly most of the time after getting glyphs or should we wait for some time to recharge. I mean does it feel like regular flying or we can only fly like 50% of the time
Do you have any info on crafting/gathering gear, how to acquire it, and so on? I haven't been able to find any information on it. Sadly most of the people I used to follow about gold making quit when Blizz delete the AH and made DF crafting take way longer, more complicated, and drastically less profitable.
All profession gear is crafted - if you look at my video on best professions and reputation there is a chart for you!
@@Penguinr2gt awesome, I haven’t watched that video yet. Thanks!
I have planned to make evoker as my gatherer as well. I think I red from somewhere that they actually have another racial bonus which gives them larger radius to spot nodes.. Is this correct?
Yes! That applies to your perception buff from the discerning eye racial!
Well I could not find any info of that ^^ so I am not sure from where I got that one.. XD Anyhow, at least this racial ability will speed up gathering process a bit: "Familiar Skies: Soar's cooldown is reduced by 1 min on continents that you have fully explored."
Soar can be useful but you will likely just be dragon riding. Since you can stay mounted once you apply enough knowledge points
@@Penguinr2gt Hey Pen on this, I heard somewhere that with dragon riding we might run out of cooldowns to take off/soar and so that's where being an evoker might come in handy? Are you able to comment on that at all?
Might be stupid, but used the wowhead tool for profession tree calculator, doesn't say as reward that you can herb/mine mounted ? :) I don't have beta so never tried it but do they have extra things more then what is stated on the wowhead tool ? :) P.S I really love your videos been watching older ones after I found your explanations :)
It is there in the profession tool calculator! You just need to make sure you are looking at the correct tree and spec
@@Penguinr2gt for me in the tool thingy 35 mining process = 15+deftness as only reward and outside it says 1 skill point per point placed in this :) feels like I'm missing something :)
www.wowhead.com/beta/profession-tree-calc/mining/BAo5DB4FuPi
Im sorry, I dont know what to tell you. When looking at mining and the mining process spec it says that 35/35 is "Having mastered the processes of mining, you are now able to gather ore while mounted on the Dragon Isles."
@@Penguinr2gt Not sure why my answer doesn't get thru, but yeah I was at another calculator not sure why I get a old version, but sorry and thank you for taking the time, didn't mean to be a troublesome person :)
What class/race would you choose for mining/herb
lol its a part of the video sorry 😂
I talk about it at the end of the video! Personally, I think evokers will be best
@@Penguinr2gt Yea got to that segment just as i wrote the comment. Good video 👍
Where do you get those shoulders from?

@@Penguinr2gt thank you!
Great guide. One question. When DF launches, where are we going to find trainers and can we train at level 60?
this was covered in the profession series mentioned in the beginning of the video
I recommend checking this video out! ua-cam.com/video/Z5TD2dF6LJM/v-deo.html
It actually showcases the exact trainer locations but short answer is the first flight path
Did Blizz employ Sheldon Cooper to design these systems? I'm feelin' a little like Penny trying to learn physics.
Or.. a rather complex way of stopping bots, and bots are gonna have a hard time with dragon riding to.
Bot deterrent. 90% of a time there’s a mob in melee of a node, and the ice/wind hopefully will screw with the pathing/scripting.
I know druids don't like this but I like that the best way to gather is now the dragon and not travel form very good idea blizzard! travel form is too op lol
Haha as someone who doesn’t like the play style of druids, I’m happy with the new riding changes too!
11:25 absolutely correct, mounted gathering should be the first spec to spent talent points on!
However, I recommend to not unlock the general spec as 1st tree when you get to 25 skill points. Unlocking the Elemental tree 1st(or bait tree in skinning) grants you direct access to an awesome ability that increases your farming output significantly - without spending any knowledge points whatsover. Also, picking up the ability & using it on elemental nodes also grants extra knowledge points the first time you use them on a new node.
So, my gathering path will be:
1. Farm till skill 25
2. Unlock Elemental Tree, BUT NOT use any knowledge points
3. Farm till skill 50
4. Unlock General Tree
5. Invest all accumulated knowledge points into mounted gathering
Thats a great plan Matthew!!! Good luck gathering!
Good guide, I myself always go for professions on alts, since I like to make things myself, like enchants, gems and flasks. Since apparently all professions now have this tedious knowledge point system, it's for an average player undoable, unless you have no life. I mostly prefer to play the actual game, dungeons etc than professions. I feel like now, if you do multiple professions, you need to have no life :-) .
Like all things in WoW, the initial setup is always the hardest - whether thats grinding gear to meet a ilvl for dungeons, finding a guild and coordinating a raid team, grinding renown for a certain reward - the same thing applies to professions. Once you first pick up the profession, you may want to spend time leveling it up and doing alot of first time bonuses... once you do that, you can spend about 30 minutes to an hour/week getting your weeklies done and you are good to go. You don't need to dedicate all of your wow time to them
30 minutes into the game. Pick a flower. Gets pushed into air and dies. Laugh hysterically. 😃
Welcome to dragonflight xD
I'm very worried about gathering in Dragonflight. I like gathering with an audiobook on in the background to listen to and sort of switching my mind off. It's my main way of earning gold and I don't relish the idea of having to concentrate on Dragonriding now.
I was awful at dragonriding at the start of beta and I had to really concentrate.. after I collected all of the glyphs and got more comfortable, dragonriding has now kinda become auto pilot. You will still be able to pay attention to other tasks as you gather... just may take you a little bit to get used to the new systems
@@Penguinr2gt That's good to know, Thanks :)
How is walking or flying over to something and picking it up over and over again fun for anyone except a 10yr old.
How is walking around and spamming a few buttons over and over fun for anyone except a 10 yr old? the world may never know
I would love to pay gold to just use a normal mount and never use dragon riding. It's seems it will be a pain in the ass for gathering
Definitely takes away the "afk" factor of gathering, but I have to admit.... dragonriding is really fun lol
8:57 I think you've misread this, its positive.
Yes! The actual abilities that you learn if you are specialized (you use knowledge points into that specific elemental node) are positive! So if you spec into molten youll be able to do damage to your attackers, but by default without being specialized you take alot of damage lol, you can see it in a later video of me looting the molten node and losing half my health
@@Penguinr2gt ah ok, thanks!
😉💪
Jesus Christ. Professions are now harder than mythic raiding. The new blizzard took the word “profession” literally. 🤦🏻♂️
Good content, consider to talk a little faster, it sounds as if you are taking a separate take per sentence with the pauses inbetween each sentence. Even at 1.25 speed it still too slow
WoW is STILL around? Good lord why?
Your flight attendant voice and smooth jazz music made me so drowsy.
AGAIN? it has never been fun and always been tedious extra stuff you needed to do...

gathering is not fun its a time sink.
raiding is not fun, its a time sink 😉
You didn't bother to mention the PvP gathering so it's not a great guide.
I apologize for not speaking in-depth about the Rousing Ires in this video, I updated a pinned comment to help others out
