Hyundai/Kia are not messing around anymore with their products. I am very happy to see them finally get their act together on the SUV side. With offerings like the G70, Stinger, forthcoming GV80 and refreshed G90, nobody should be laughing at them anymore. I LOVE the interior of the Palisade. For a while there, Kia was supposed to be the more luxury/sporty entrant for the brand, but the Palisade definitely looks flagship worthy. Unfortunately, I do not believe the front styling of this vehicle will age well, as witnessed by the 2014-17 Jeep Cherokee and other vehicles that have had the bisected headlamp look. I would take the Telluride over this if for long-term viability.
Had a Hyundai Vera Cruz for 6 years and it was on par with our current Genesis. The Vera Cruz was my wife’s favorite vehicle ever. We are going to test drive a Palisade this weekend and I hope my wife like this one as much as she liked the Vera Cruz.

There is no way a VW Atlas looks as good as a Palisade or is anywhere near as luxurious. But the Atlas is very roomy and practical. I love the Telluride and now that I've seen your video in 1440P, I noticed a lot more exterior styling detail on the Palisade that I really like. It looks good. Hyundai and Kia have really upped their game in the crossover market. The styling/design team at Hyundai did a fantastic job in styling the Palisade and Telluride. But that 2020 Ford Explorer ST looks good too and has outstanding performance. There is so much competition in this segment.

We have had Lincoln Navigators, Lincoln MKX, Ford Explorer Limited and now own the Hyundai Palisade. We could not be more pleased with the Palisade. It's a tremendously equipped luxurious SUV that I don't think can be surpassed for the same money. We have the Limited version which offers all you could want in a vehicle.
David Wolf the 2020 Lexus RX 350 was pretty much at the top of my list to purchase late September or early October when they hit dealers, but now I’m considering the Palisade. My main reason for Lexus was reliability, quality, and comfort. I keep my vehicles for the long run so the only thing that worries me is long term reliability with Hyundai. I am coming from a 2009 Buick Lucerne and it has been a fabulous vehicle for us. It’s definitely time for me to upgrade though. What would you choose if it were your $.
Brian Eng the Buick has been fabulous! It has 117k on it and still rides like new. The only thing I’ve had is front wheel bearings had to be replaced recently.
In comparisons of the Telluride and Palisade one point often goes unmentioned. The Telluride was largely designed in California and is produced in KIA's West Point, GA plant. It is aimed squarely at the North American market. In fact it is currently on sale only in the US and Canada. The Palisade is built in Korea and sold in a variety of international markets, most notably in Korea and China where sales opportunities are abundant and expanding rapidly. The "rugged" image of the Telluride is very appealing to mainstream American consumer while a "luxury" image has huge appeal in markets where mass affluence is a recent phenomenon and demonstrating it in the form of a vehicle choice is extremely popular. (The Chinese and other Asian markets have had quite enough of "rugged" lifestyles often through no choice of their own.)
I think both are excellent although Hyundai has better color options. The Telluride and Palisade are killing it though. Love my current Elantra, maybe i'll upgrade to this someday if I get financially stable 🤣
Kia and Hyundai generally make "shiny" interiors that look good but aren't of higher quality than those of other vehicles. Especially things like the metal looking painted plastic switches in the center console look good in videos but that's about it. Not saying their interiors are bad but they just know how to wow the average car buyer better than others. Personally, I don't like the boring gauges, but that's more of a design thing, not a quality thing. They look like the gauges of pretty much any other luxury car. Uninspired...
brunoramo maybe but I think the advantages for Hyundai end about there. I also wouldn’t go so far as to say miles ahead. You can tell Alex was much more impressed with the driving dynamics of the explorer vs the palisade. The explorer just seems like a much more fun crossover to drive especially in ST trim. Also I will say when sitting in the palisade at the car show I found some pieces to look more expensive then they feel. This can’t be captured on video really.
Herp McDerp very well said as I just said below a lot of the interior looks nice initially until you sit in it and can begin to nitpick how fake certain things look and feel.
Love the new Palisade. The interior is gorgeous and the fit and finish looks amazing for this price point. Oh, and the Alcantara headliner looks fantastic. Well done Hyundai.
Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander. 5 great 3-row choices Nissan Pathfinder is still good but definitely needs some discounts to keep up
The Pathfinder is too far behind everyone else to justify the price tag plus reliability is pretty bad for the current generation, nothing compared to their previous one.
Alex coming from a Hyundai family of 7 cars wheel of this vehicle. But going into retirement we might think that it is too big. We just need to be able to tow about two four-wheelers or a snowmobile. We will look at the Honda Passport but we don't want to get into a pickup truck. Best review so far is yours Alex. 👌
This Palisade interior looks even better than Lexus that is 10K more... Well done Hyundai. @Alex, does the limited trim have power folding exterior mirrors?
This is the car for my family since I couldn't find any Telluride prestige anywhere and dealership can't even tell you when they can get the next shipment in.
@Ptguy0618 I dont think so, the dealer i test drove told me he's getting 31 shipment coming in and hopefully they have the one I want. KIA is running out of materials for their prestige model and the Palisade is assembled in Korea so they shouldn't have any shortage with materials.
I think this or the telluride will be my wife's new SUV. They are both too good to pass up. I trust the telluride/palisade more than the atlas being that hyundai/kia tend to be more reliable than the atlas.
Couple of questions. 1. Difference between a loaded Telluride and Palisade (other than design) are: Power fold rear seats, All digital instrument cluster, shift paddles and push button transmission interface? 2. Was there a dead pixel line in the 10.25 display?
I don't care for the aesthetics, personally, but Hyundai has done an excellent job with the Palisade. I also have high hopes for long-term reliability.
Alex you are the best and most to the point and consistent reviewer on UA-cam. Question - how come no auto reviewer ever mentions of the car takes premium or regular gas? That alone can can mean a great cost difference and might take the pinch out of 19mpg. Speaking of which, what kind of fuel does palisade take? Thanks.
Alex your reviews are outstanding in every way,...very detailed, full of technical information and comprehensive. Now to the review,...I really like this big SUV from Hyundai,...It's very handsome, elegant & upright, which I really like, & allow's for a roomy interior in all dimensions. Interior is beautiful & very luxurious, & has all the tech' one could ever need...And it shows that Hyundai can compete with high end premium SUV'S in all areas. If I were in the market for a full-size SUV, I would certainly give this Hyundai a hard look.
Palisade is my preference, sits closer to the ground and is narrower than the Telluride. I also like the fact that they come with auto leveling rear suspension as standard equipment.
I had the Santa fe XL which I loved, but i watched this vehicle back when it was named "Grand Master" back then I knew it would be a great midsize SUV. I got a SEL trim w/ convenient, premium package w/ bench for a true 8 passenger. Best decision for a vehicle I made😊🎼🎶🎶🎶🎵
We looked at both the Palisade and the Telluride this week. Decided to purchase the Palisade. My (some may say shallow) subjective reasons are; The 2 cup holders in each of the second row doors instead of 2 on the back of the front console, I didn’t like the side body base of the Telluride, and I prefer the touch screen display placement on the Palisade. During the test drives they rode and handled the same, both better than my Toyota.
Agreed. I'm glad that it's not just me. At first I thought I was for sure on board for the Telluride, but then I started to realize the differences between them, and even though I seriously hate the Hyundai flying H badge, I have come around to wanting the Palisade. The back of it looks very good, no problem, and the front I don't really like but I think that I can deal with it. And I've discovered that there is an alternate badge that you can get for Hyundai. The towing package comes with the limited trim no extra charge, and I'm not sure it may come standard on all the trims but you have to pay extra for it on all trims of the Telluride. Palisade has puddle lights on the mirrors... no puddle lights period on the Telluride.
It takes almost a year to get this on your garage if you contract today here in Korea. This one is such a big hit here. Hoping supply chain turns better in the states.
I really like the interior but I would give the nod for exterior styling to the Telluride. However, both of these look better than the upcoming 2020 Highlander.
Recently (two weeks ago) purchased a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy AWD: but there are still some areas for product improvement: add power folding exterior side mirrors, add sunglass holder in interior and add illumination for the overhead light buttons above driver and front passenger (the POI buttons are illuminated but the light buttons aren't, that's odd and an omission in form/function) and those rims on calligraphy trim are a bit 'loud', design something more classy the ones on current and previous Limited trim); and last but not least, consider adding hybrid powertrain as is offered on many other Hyundai products.
looks better than I expected and faster than I thought it would be. Don't like the concept of speedo and tach moving in opposite direction. Maybe just something to get use to. Tempting to replace my Santa Fe xl. Maybe next year after kinks get worked out.
@@dontelindsey5846 rain sensing wipers are awful, start stop is very jarring, switching drive modes takes like 10 seconds and the car has to be on about 30 to 45 seconds before you can really do it, had to change a brake pads at about 4000 miles and the rotors at about 8,000, and now at 14k it's vibrating again, the sensor pod rattles every time I go over a bumpy road and they haven't found out what it is loose, there's no place to put your sunglasses, I test drove the Telluride and it felt lighter than the XC60, and then I looked at the weights and telluride/palisade weighs 1000 pounds less. This is the one reason why I am holding off. I wanted the bells and whistles of the ultimate with 8 seats even they took out the napper leather in the second row.
Me too. Maybe I might consider the next Explorer, they allow you to kit the top trim with a second row bench for a small fee. Why couldn't Hyundai do this? Honda Pilot does the same for their to Elite trim, offering an 8 seater option at no cost.
@@MrMedallione Agreed that is why I am disappointed. Even the Wireless charger should have been an option for lower trims. Still love the vehicle but cannot buy it. I now have the Santa Fe Xl, but I really need an 8 seater for atleast two years
Completely agree with you, no excuse why wireless charger is not offered at lower trim point. I think Hyundai is aiming to leave some items for downgrading at later model year changes, but they picked the wrong one. Second row bench and power folding exterior mirrors should have been offered at the top trim. I'm surprised no auto journalist review is pointing these glaring misses out . I need a replacement for my minivan this year and was hoping the Palisade will make the cut but I'm disappointed enough to consider the new Ford Explorer instead, at least they offer a bench as an option for a small fee. Only thing I'm wary of is the poor reliability of Ford vehicles
@@MrMedallione I was unaware of the Pilot offering the bench in top trim. I'll take another look (I configured a few different Pilots and none of them seemed to offer this option.)
It's a nice design and as you indicated, the Telluride is more butch in its design. If I had the Palisade, the first thing I would do is have a body shop paint out that grill surround to the body color. Good design job for both models. The engine output is probably adequate but we always want more. They should sell a lot of them.
The Palisade has a nice luxurious design with apparently lots of very good features including comfort. For the money in the mid-$30's, the SEL seems to be the most attractive. I don't know if I would spend $46k on a Limited, although beautiful, but depreciation might be quick and would make it seem irrational to spend the money. But the SEL seems to be a very good buy.
Please stop drawing attention to the bang for the buck of this vehicle 😁. We don’t want them messing with the price of our baby. Thanks for the video. Super appreciative. But, I heard you address combined legroom saying it was the most fair way to compare 3 row vehicles. How is this the case? Front seat legroom is almost never an issue. What matters is the room in the 2nd and 3rd rows. That’s the difference maker in these vehicles. Thank you thank you thank you for addressing seat night in these vehicles. You addressed it specifically in the third row but the second row seating also suffers in many of the SUV’s, pickups & crossovers. That’s why the seating in the Toyota’s, Hyundai’s & Kia’s are so much more comfortable than the seats in the Honda’s, Toyota’s, Ford’s and the Chrysler’s ( 😡). With all that being said I really like the Telluride & Palisade. These are top two followed by the Stinger GT on my shopping list. Problem being I WILL NOT purchase this vehicle unless they add the bench to the top trim for next year. Seating capacity should be a consumer option. Yes, one could purchase the lower trim to get 8 seats which is really what you need for maximum comfort but you don’t get all of the cool and fun features. Yes, I want it all. I’m paying for it. Be well Alex.
So I take it your a single person intrested in this vehicle. I say that because a stinger is a small sports car, and this is a fairly large crossover. Vehicles not usual in contention with each other. Not that a single person couldn't find uses for this vehicle, or may just like having a large vehicle.
Love your reviews Alex. I however do think that when you comment on vehicles towing ability you should broaden your comments a little, I know that you tow and that's one of the reasons you'd bought your Durrango. With Pallisade you rightly point out that it can tow 5000lb but it may be useful to add for viewers like myself that the vehicle does not come with and indeed cannot be fitted with a 7 pin connector by Hyundai and that you'd have to have a specialist trailer shop fix this for you, not something that some folks would want all the hassle with when buying a vehicle.
Deeply impressed with the Palisade/Telluride twins. I lean toward Telluride's exterior style, but I also much prefer the Palisade's dash and my local Hyundai dealer...decisions, decisions. Either way, it'd be the base model, which has more stuff than I need.
Hey @Alex, may I ask what do you think about the ride quality of Hyundai Palisade? To me ride quality is a determinant to my purchase. Thanks and continue creating great contents for us.
i have to admit this Hyundai has gotten my attention. i like to see what they look like on the road. by size i think the only competition is the telluride. based on price i would consider the RDX and X1.
Great video Alex! In terms of interior quality and road noise is there any difference between the Telluride or Palisade?? Or are they pretty much the same, and it just style preference??
Its interesting that the Qi Charger was active when you also had your phone plugged into the USB port for data. I didn't think that was supposed to be possible.
I’ve been excited for this for a while. I really love the way the Palisade, and many modern Hyundais look. I do prefer the Santa Fe styling though. I kinda wish they had used the same fascia. I’m not much of a fan of how the Telluride looks. I don’t think their grill goes well with a boxier vehicle. Kia sedans and smaller crossovers look good, but the Telluride just doesn’t wear the face as well
Your reviews are a lot better than KBB and consumer retort combined. I mean report...:) No full service auto pilot? This SUV should be under 6 secs on 0 - 60 mph. Too slow

Palisade !
@@jaclynmoylan1905 How has your Buick been from a reliability standpoint?
Brian Eng the Buick has been fabulous! It has 117k on it and still rides like new. The only thing I’ve had is front wheel bearings had to be replaced recently.
@@jaclynmoylan1905 Everything that I've read says that at this point Hyundai and Kia reliability is really good.
No one else does the consistently good reviews that Alex does.
The Wifey picked hers up today same color as this limited. Traded in her Dodge Durango Crew. She loves it .
The interior is miles ahead of the new explorer
Wayyyy ahead. The Explorer looks dated already.
brunoramo maybe but I think the advantages for Hyundai end about there.
Pricing is really aggressive. 34k sticker for the SEL? That's a lot of car for the price.
Do you know you can pay off the Hyundai Palisade With a Promissory Note.

Love the new Palisade. The interior is gorgeous and the fit and finish looks amazing for this price point. Oh, and the Alcantara headliner looks fantastic. Well done Hyundai.
This is the most thorough review I've seen so far for the Palisade. Keep up the great work!

Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander. 5 great 3-row choices
Nissan Pathfinder is still good but definitely needs some discounts to keep up
The Pathfinder is too far behind everyone else to justify the price tag plus reliability is pretty bad for the current generation, nothing compared to their previous one.
This is one beast I'll like to take on a long road trip. Top picked on crash test as well. What's not to like? Great review Alex.
Wow! Great review and I can tell you know your stuff. Wife is wanting either this or the Telluride. Thanks!!
Tons of features and advantages over competitors, but I still crave Telluride more. Hmmmm🤔
Is the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty transferable? Like if you buy used?
Same, I put a deposit on a limited because there is basically no chance of getting a Telluride prestige package until end of year...
I will be purchasing the Hyundai Palisade. I haven't decided on the trim. Still deciding between the SEL or the Limited. Great video
This is the best Palisade review I've seen!
Looks like a winner in this segment...a tremendous value for a stylish, and feature loaded full size SUV.
I'm in the market and the Palisade is one I'm considering. Thank, great review.
Looks-wise I prefer the Telluride inside & out but this is no doubt more luxurious and has more presence.
How is it more luxurious than the Kia? Both have nappa leather, captains chairs, heated cooled seats, etc.
I don't care for the aesthetics, personally, but Hyundai has done an excellent job with the Palisade. I also have high hopes for long-term reliability.
Awesome review! Thank you for consistently great automobile reviews!
Thanks.
Per the owners manual, the Palisade and Telluride both take regular unleaded 87
i know that's supposed to be maroon, but it looks grape purple and it's BEAUTIFUL
Thanks for always doing your homework Alec...
For towing you still need the trailer brake controller to utilize the full 5000 lb capability, at least in Ontario Canada.
Great review. I would say SEL with few option package would be the best buy over other SUVs.
Hi AlexI noticed you never followed up with a test at home, same with Sorento. Any plans to do it
Omg... that millinery joke was funny. Even funnier once I looked that up
Palisade is my preference, sits closer to the ground and is narrower than the Telluride. I also like the fact that they come with auto leveling rear suspension as standard equipment.
Thanks for the comprehensive review Alex
During the test drives they rode and handled the same, both better than my Toyota.
can you add turning radius to your future reviews.thanks. very important in the the 3rd row segment. nice to see when they can do tight turns.
I just don't like the front end of the Palisade the Telluride front end looks a lot better but Palisade interior is more luxurious
Like me, you'd like a Telluride exterior with a Palisade interior!
Yeah the front isn't my favorite but he rest of the exterior and definitely the interior more than make up for it.
but it's more unique than the telluride
Getting ready to dump the Highlander for this, so much cheaper and so much better equipped.
You’re the best, Alex.
I went and check this vehicle a while ago. 15k dealer mark up here in North California
Sir, could u please do a video on palisade SEL model. I really like ur way of explanation
looks better than I expected and faster than I thought it would be. Don't like the concept of speedo and tach moving in opposite direction. Maybe just something to get use to. Tempting to replace my Santa Fe xl. Maybe next year after kinks get worked out.
I got a 2018 xc60 and a little disappointed with it. Very seriously thinking of getting this instead
What is disappointing about it?
@@shahmask I'm glad you've mentioned those things those small things add up to be pricey. I don't think I'd want to own it much longer if those little things are happening in such a new car. How is the powertrain?

Excellent review, Alex. The Palisade intercom system segment is hilarious. "Power tools, ladies lingerie.... say no more!"
Nothing beats it yet ! Only -ve top trim doesn’t have bench and SEL doesn’t have panoramic and 360 camera that leads to BVM !
This was a great review. Thanks
We want the top trim with the option to keep the 2nd-row bench!!!
Funny, the palisade looks more masculine to me than Telluride. But everyone likes what they like! And that's a good thing.
Alex did you ever find out the cabin noise levels ? Wondering if this is as quiet as the Telluride or the Pilot ?
13:36 Tach moves counterclockwise... is that unusual/weird?
13:42 Tach on lower trims moves clockwise.
Does the central coupling lock disconnect automatically above certain speed, or do you have to remember to disconnect it?
disconnect automatically at 40MPH
Thanks, simon.
Great review, thanks!
Super helpful, thanks Alex.
Very impressive..should be successful first big size suv for hyundai!

Smooth as butter, IMO. We test drove one this week.
i have to admit this Hyundai has gotten my attention. i like to see what they look like on the road. by size i think the only competition is the telluride. based on price i would consider the RDX and X1.
Super stylish car💚💛💖👍👏
Great video Alex! In terms of interior quality and road noise is there any difference between the Telluride or Palisade??
Or are they pretty much the same, and it just style preference??
Palisade the tech, features and luxury feel. I will actually go for SEL premium or tech package. I prefer those rims better
Its interesting that the Qi Charger was active when you also had your phone plugged into the USB port for data. I didn't think that was supposed to be possible.
Beautiful truck but big yikes on the dead LED line in the dashboard display. Day one defect for a tester vehicle is a little scary
Like the Palisade
Love the Telluride 😻
This vehicle is a good deal - - and they should sell a lot of them
I’ve been excited for this for a while. I really love the way the Palisade, and many modern Hyundais look. I do prefer the Santa Fe styling though. I kinda wish they had used the same fascia. I’m not much of a fan of how the Telluride looks. I don’t think their grill goes well with a boxier vehicle. Kia sedans and smaller crossovers look good, but the Telluride just doesn’t wear the face as well
Excellent review
