I was born in 1955 on a piece of land we called a small farm. We had our own chickens, and the girls had to collect eggs. We pulled off feathers for hours to prepare for dinner. Almost every night we fried chicken for dinner and every night we had home made corn bread, stewed apples, along with Mason jars of last seasons vegetables. In the morning we heated last night’s corn bread in the oven and pour buttermilk over it… The thing we bought in the store was out of season vegetables and seeds for the garden behind the house . Non of us were sick, never missed school, and were out detasseling corn on the farm until school started in the morning. maybe there is a reason so many are going back to starting their own farms. It wasn’t an easy way to live. But I think maybe we were healthier and happier back then…

mental health is more important than an occasional cheat meal to spend time with friends and family. don't forget that. if you get asked out - go and just pick the healthiest option.

Money and greed has been around for millennia. There is zero evidence that either of these caused the corruption of the healthcare industry. There are mountains of evidence to demonstrate that the initiation of government force in the market has directly caused 100% of the problems. It is time to separate healthcare and state. Government has no legitimate role in healthcare; force destroys virtue.

I “process” excess produce from the garden, and sometimes I do homecanning of stews using pastured, homegrown meats. I dehydrate some too (herbs, garlic). I buy very little from stores, and our freezers are restocked every fall with fresh batch of homegrown meats. We do freeze a lot of homegrown berries as well. What I struggle with is staying away from baked goods, because I grew up in my father’s bakery. Rising dough and freshly baked breads bring me down memory lane. I do know if I continued over-consuming them, I probably would have Chron’s by now, or even a colostomy. Good thing I was able to reverse my symptoms (including pre-diabetes, GERD, frequent migraines, arthritic joint pains) by diet correction back in 2014. After that I purchased books on nutrition by functional medicine practitioners and allies. Now at 54, I have no maintenance meds, I move good, and symptom-free. The last thing I was dealing with was eczema, which is now clearing up because I realized it was a delayed reaction to either the non-paraben preservative or fragrance oil I was using on my homemade lotions (I now just make unscented body butter using cocoa butter, coconut oil, shea butter, apricot kernel oil, and vitamin E). Truly, we need to pay attention to what we put into or onto our bodies and thin whether it would be a form of assault, or of support/nourishment.

Oh Dr. Hyman, you certainly make me laugh! Thank you for that, as well as for the LIFE CHANGING information I have learned from you. I went from being super healthy to fighting for my life as my body was attacking itself and shutting down. I had to find the answers to healing on my own, through desperate research. My Dr's only knew to give me RX for volatile drugs that made me a zombi. They did not care at all about the QUALITY of my life. Thanks to my discovery of YOU and some of your colleagues in the world of science and nutrition, I am here today. I thought I was a "clean" eater, but after my deep dive into food, I was not . I now eat as if i live in a blue zone. That is my new motto. Life changing! Thx to you! I am not 100% YET, as i still need to get the testing done that fortunately your lab provides. So grateful for this. Your book, YOUNG FOREVER, which I spend time reading everyday, has provided me with all the information in order to begin the testing. I know this is going to afford me all the missing pieces to this puzzle that are needed in order to make a full recovery and live my life once again. This time, even healthier. I have great faith! God bless you for sharing and going the extra mile of providing ways average and unknowledgeable people like myself, can become informed and access valuable testing. May you be blessed with a beautiful life and remain Young Forever!

Don't forget the "proteins". They deconstruct whole foods like peas and soy and just use the "protein" without the other constituents and buffers as Nature designed, which the body actually looks for to be able to RECOGNIZE the food. Then man in his attempt to reinvent the wheel takes out just the "proteins" in some of these foods, which are also excitotoxins, and uses them as building blocks in the new "sustainable" franken phoods which will only stimulate and later enervate the body.

This is why i took latin in high school...so i could read the labels. Not really, i just love the language, that it was a factor in deciding to learn it...i just love latin. It's not a dead language at all, it's used in so many medical & scientific ways...& Good to know...because often the basic origins of chemicals & plants & animals that go into our consumption supply are easier to decipher if you can read it.
50+ years ago i was able to help my family read the labels...most folks don't know our entire consumer landscape Radically changed with Op Paperclip.....it became a Brave New World way back then........what i find Most amazing is..just how much Toxins humans can consume & still keep on living...it's Mind Blowing!

Exactly. When I studied my family history, the number of my ancestors living to their 90s and even over 100 was enlightening.
I remember my great grandfather who lived alone, made his own sauerkraut, and was still active, cooking, driving and fishing on the river banks into his 90s. He was the picture of health and still helping on the farm until he helped his son, my grandfather on the farm with the "new" chemicals they put on the land. The salesman promising they no longer would have to burn the fields in the fall, only put this magic chemical on it.
My great grandfather became sick almost immediately and died months later, my grandfather became sick and died the next year.

You can make your own. So easy. 1 egg, a cup of avocado oil, a tablespoon of ACV, and a little mustard and a bit of salt. Very quick with an immersion blender.

A great cookie recipe with only 3 ingredients.. bananas, organic oatmeal and crushed walnuts. Smash the banana then mix in the other 2 ingredients. Bake until brown. I use my toaster oven. Yum.

Finding a local organic, regenerative farmer was hands down the best decision I ever made for my health.
Yes, it's a little more expensive at first but worth every penny! And it pays for itself in the long run with reduced medical costs.
Not only does the food taste better, I feel better and I'm putting my money where my values are.
Plus it's wonderful to see the happy and friendly animals living on pasture and regenerating the soil. My farmer's fields are so much greener and healthier than the chemical farms around him

Mark Hyman is definitely an MD. So what do you want when you see a doctor? Do you want a pill instead? Dr. Hyman is right to be concerned about our food supply - diet is a major cause of obesity ,type 2 diabetes and heart attacks. In fact I saw an article that many doctors are admitting that type2 diabetes can't be fixed with a pill. The more you eat of ultraprocessed food the higher your risk of dying. I admit in this video Dr. Mark is Abit wound up.

In short it's a waxy coating "they" are putting on fresh fruits and veggies to provide a long shelf life. It does NOT wash off. Even organic foods ... they try to say it's citrus and non toxic but NOT true. Look up the Green Smoothie Girl who has done in depth study on this concept. The food product does not even have to be labeled to inform us it has the coating. Bad news! @@Happy_Roll_23
