I had to wait 3 months before I could get my much needed hysterectomy. They found pre cancer cells. That was a wake up call. So for those 3 months before my surgery , I QUIT all sugary junk. I lost 10 pounds and felt great. They biopsied my uterus after the surgery and low and behold, my Dr seemed shocked that all the cells in there were normal. (I had endometriosis which I why I needed the hysterectomy and I was 53) but I believe I starved out those growing pre cancer cells. 👍🏻💪🏻
Yep. My grandpa lived to be 91. He had pneumonia. He had a very healthy heart. He ate butter and eggs and bacon and veggies but NO sugar ! He was keto before keto was cool 😎
I came here from the foreign country in 2001, from where I from I eat more vegetables. Fish and rice., We eat pastry once in a while and the whole family would share. Then when I came here I was amazed of all the food and pastry that I have try ,mmm...it was Soo... delicious! But that enjoyment of wonderful foods it didn't take for very long...I was only 31 year's old when I found out that I have high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol and my triglycerides was very high of course, then my gallbladder was taken out because it was full of stones., My doctor he never sugar coated me...he told me that if I don't change of the way I eat I will never be able to make it to the age of 40. And if I DO! I will be in a handful of medication! It was the most depressing day of My life, but even though it is Soo hard to make the change I did it gradually and now I'm 43 years old and I am not taken any of medication. I only take supplements and fresh garlic.

Yep. I was having back pain. My chiropractor said he thought it’s inflammation. And I know that inflammation comes mainly from a sugary diet. So I quit.. and within 3 days that pain was gone. Having a little bit of sugar when one is a sugar addict has the same outcome as an alcoholic having one drink. A sugar addict is easily triggered by a little sugar which can lead to binge eating it and a relapse.

If I could stop smoking after 40 years cold turkey, I can quit sugar. I just past my 22nd year smoke free. It can be done and so can quitting sugar. My mother had beautiful skin right into her 90's. She ate a plant based diet and took no meds at all. She never ate sugar. She passed peacefully at home without illness at age 99.
I’m only 9 days without sugar but I don’t think I’ll ever go back to it. I am shocked that ALL my joint pain is GONE! I’m a nurse and 12 hour shifts with achy hips and knees were really starting to concern me. I can’t believe that after only 5 days without sugar my pain has COMPLETELY disappeared. I am honestly in shock. Not to mention, I have been chronically exhausted for 10 years and I have had more energy over the past couple days than I can remember. I really hope this isn’t a fluke because it feels too good to be true.

Try enjoying healthier desserts, maybe learn to make some. Also try replacing the white rice and pasta (if you consume them) with brown rice or quinoa and a spinach base pasta). See if you can find or order online a 'healthier' soda such as GUS (grown up soda) or similar. Lastly do your own research....nothing drives the point home like what you read and understand for yourself. The slow reduction of sugar in the foods you consume and the drinks will result in almost immediate benefits that you will feel which will in turn increase your desire to stick with the replacements. In short, any significant reduction in sugar consumption beats no change at all. Wishing you the best and you can do it! 👍
No. I was on prescription opioids for 4 years. Quit that and it was Hell for over 4 months. No sleep, nightmares, horrible digestive issues, I cried all the time, had restless leg syndrome. Horrible shaking and sweating. I quit sugar and had a headache for 3 days. No comparison ! 😮😅

Saw the chiropractor last week. Had been having trouble with part of my back. He said he was pretty sure I had inflammation. So, I quit sugar. I already knew that inflammation is caused by junk and I had to “slap myself” and get out of that sugar rut again. And I canceled my follow up appointment because my back pain is gone 😊
Recently, I was at the supermarket and picked up a bottle of horseradish sauce. One brand had sugar, less than one gram but sugar never the less. Put it back and selected the one without sugar. I would love to know why sugar is in horseradish sauce. At the same supermarket, I looked at come frozen wild caught, cooked cocktail shrimp. Added sugar? Why? I put it back and purchased a bag of wild caught shrimp. Either corporations are adding sugar to cover the taste of poor ingredients or they are trying to addict the consumer.

I quit drinking 5.5 years ago while training to climb Mt. Aconcagua (22,841 feet). Never went back to drinking and hopefully never will. I just did a 5 + day fast and it was much easier than I thought it would be. I plan on cutting out processed sugar altogether very soon. This video helped.
I think the problem is that nobody is cooking healthy meals every night for family dinner. With both parents working, who has the time or energy? The answer - fast foods, unfortunately.
Yes if I go to a fast food joint all I see are lard tubs of whole families eating in there. The time it took you to get all the kids in the car, drive there, order, and wait you could have made a good home cooked meal and taken care of your children better. (And no I'm not the one eating in those places).

It's a burden for one person to do it all, all the time, especially if they put in hours at a job outside the home. Also, the chief cook and bottlewasher would love to come home to a prepared meal that wasn't pizza or takeout.
It can be done, that's just another excuse. You can batch cook on Sundays and freeze it or cook simple foods - beans, rice, salads, etc. I hate to cook but I eat lots of the above.
What sadden me, when my Best Friend / Neighbor who I knew for 45 years plus, told me , She believed those "pink packet" what caused her Cancer. I will NEVER forget her. She was the happiness person in a crowd of people. She knew everybody in our town ( pop 41,000 ). I was pre diabetic and an A1C c of 6.0. Went on keto and intermittent fasting. At 6 months my a1C went down to 5.3. I have been doing this for a year now. My mood has leveled out lost 39 pounds. Have consistently stayed at 120 lbs. whenever I get feeling like I want sweets I listen to these posts. Gets me regenerated and recommitted to my healthy lifestyle.

They were in California waiting to go to Alaska to do their job, and the flight for some reason was deferred to Georgia. Of all places. And then sat on the tarmac for hours in the heat. When they travel, pollinators have to be kept cool, with airflow. The airlines apologized and said they would learn from this experience and do better next time.. That doesn't help the poor bees, nor the owners livelihood.. 😔
I believe everything you're saying. Sugar was making me sick everyday for years. Now I try not to have it at all. I feel so much better. Ofcourse I'm not perfect. When I do have it I want more & more and can't stop. It's better for me not to have any!
I have been watching Dr. Hyman's videos and others re: sugar, and I can report my personal experience has been phenomenal. Metabolically I was in the worst shape of my life (I'm 60). My blood sugar, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist circumference all were off the chart. I cut out sugar. I increased good fats. I started working out again, and NOTHING STRENUOUS, LIKE CROSS FIT, WHICH I THINK IS horrible FOR THE BODY, but simply fast walking, core workouts, and light weights. I am down 25 pounds, my BP and sugar are back to normal, and my triglycerides decreased by 77 points.
My mom tells the story, before I left the hospital as a newborn, they put Karo in my bottle to get me to drink more. True story. Now I’m here because I was recently diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. I’m researching the possible effects sugar has as a trigger.

I’ve been doing a keto/carnivore diet since 2019. I lost 52 pounds postmenopausal and have basically maintained my weight within 2 to 3 pounds of my loss up-to-date. I feel great! I do use Stevia in my coffee and I am a coffee connoisseur. I have two regular cups of coffee in the morning but I do drink a few cups of decaf throughout the day simply because I love the taste of coffee. I guess you could say the Stevia is my downfall if I were to only have one, that is it. It’s the natural organic type, but I suppose, too much of anything is no good ….we all know that. It hasn’t affected the scale, but the more I read about Stevia I find it does affect the Microbiome environment. According to Dr. Lustig, there are 52 names for sugar that are buried in an ingredient food list.

Here is something I recently learned. I have always been told 120/80 BP was good. Today I was tested at 120/73 and the nurse said that my BP was really good. But then I went online and it says that 120 is pushing the levels of pre-hypertension, I also learned that the new standard of health is 130/80. I have found that there is a correlation of systolic with V02 max and diastolic and resting heart rate. Not sure if this is medically true or not, but seems to correlate.
In European countries NORMAL Blood Pressure is 140/90. Big Pharma keeps on lowering the blood pressure numbers just to sell more blood pressure medications and bigger profits

Anyways, the information on his channel is so powerful and life changing. This is day 3 for me of not having any late night snacks. Doing ok, but my big challenge will be cutting out sugar. Sugar also saved my life. During an awful UC flareup, I was losing so much blood most of the time that I used the bathroom and I was using the bathroom up to 10 to 15 times a day with nothing but liquid diarrhea all day for 3 months. It was a never ending nightmare. But something that helped my body maintain energy was sugar. White bread was something my body loved and all those carbs helped me in so many ways. The sugary sports drinks also helped me feel more normal and energetic. In fact, I almost fainted one day, and sugar brought me right back. I still eat sugar and foods that turn into sugar. I also exercise everyday and feel super healthy these days. My gut is working again, no more blood, and normal stools. I still enjoy sweets in moderation. In fact, I no longer drink caffein, but carbs and sugar give me steady energy throughout the day and I don't crash like I used to with caffein. Sugar is not bad, it's the way you consume it that can be bad and what kind of conditions that also determine if you should avoid sugar. But for people like me, sugar is a life saver.
You had an unusual and very serious medical condition . I'm surprised you didn't need IV hydration and hospitalization. With literally everything going right through you ( constant diarrhea) any fluids you could keep down and any solid food you could tolerate would help you. Hope u r doing better now. If your UC is stable you might consider being tested for lactose intolerance and celiac disease.
@@lindajones4849 Thank you, I'm still doing fine. I'm struggling a bit, but it's been very manageable. As for the lactose, it's ironic you mention intolerance because dairy products are another thing that kept me living happily through the flare. It helped me maintain some weight and I've never had a lactose problem. Milk, cheese, and yogurt all saved my life too. Those were literally the only foods that my body seemed to absorb. Banana, white bread, chicken, and dairy were the only foods that I felt like my body was gaining energy from, and then the sports drink helped maintain my energy. Everything else, my gut would immediately reject. I still can't eat carrots, they go right through me, and broccoli makes me cramp. It's very strange. The only greens I can thoroughly digest are soft green beans, and lettuce. Not iceberg lettuce. Oh and sweet potato is my new favorite veggie, my body can digest it quite well. However, I can still eat very moderate amounts of cooked veggies like broccoli now that I'm doing far better, but I choose to avoid them. It's a very strange condition to be honest, but I've been making it through. I'm surprised myself that I didn't get any IV injections and stuff, I was literally staying strong and holding on to life. I never want to feel that way ever again. Sunshine also keeps me healthy, I don't know what it does, but it rejuvenates me and makes me feel calm and happy. I remember sitting in the sun during my intense flare up, and whenever I was in the sun, my symptoms would quite for longer than usual. The sun has magic powers that scientist aren't talking about!

Keep gallons of water overnight. This will drastically reduce sulphur from liquid to gas.... out of the water. Can't drink or cook with the water straight out of the sink faucet. My cats prefer the still water too.
The sugar case is sooo complicated to deal with.Sugar is part of our culture.In Quebec, we grow apples and we produce maple syrup.So as kids we ate ham , fruit pies as dessert which we had every day and cakes were another choice as dessert.Dessert very impregnated in our culture.So it is very tough to cut sugar.I am 55 and I cut soft drinks. I drink a lot more water but I like ice cream and desserts. I got your books doctor and I try to cut as much as I can but in Canada it is so easy to find a sugar product.It is struggling to go to the market. For the last 3yrs I went from 16oz(500ml) of coffee and 2 packets of hot choc then over ice then to 32 oz of coffee an one packet then over ice then no sugar hot choc then goat milk then coconut milk then choc protein powder then pure Cocoa powder and so on as I learned more but now I just dip a spoon into grass fed chocolate milk an stir my coffee with it. .. it's tough to replace our comforts an social norms but I feel above it now looking down on the soda drinkers and Starbucks phooffy drinks. I believe I have a good metabolism. My friends are worrying about how can my main nutrition be sugar, yet for decades my blood works are excellent. I really don't see the reason why I should stop. I'm interested in what specific blood work you had. Did you get a FASTInG blood sugar and fasting insulin level? This is VERY important. Suggest asking a doc for a glucose tolerance test because I'm concerned u may be headed for diabetes. Best wishes.
Thanks & that cuts out my “splenda” in my coffee. 😅& I just bought a box of 1000 packets thinking it is good & it’s not. I also drink tumeric water with honey every 2 days. 3 times a week I drink a smoothie with a vegetable, fresh berries that I freeze, with almonds, chia/hemp seeds, water, moringa powder or tumeric powder. I occasionally eat 70% dark chocolate & sometimes the forbidden chocolate. So now today no more Splenda or forbidden chocolate & I have great willpower when it comes to my health. I just had blood work done & results were good. I work out daily & you mentioned “monk fruit”, which will be added to my diet in moderation. Is monk fruit good in coffee? I also drink tea with or without honey. What sugars are good besides monk fruit again? Thank you so much for sharing!! ❤❤❤
Get fasting blood sugar and fasting insulin level . Getting the fasting insulin level is important . Your fasting blood sugar is the last thing to rise before you become diabetic. If your blood sugar is normal but your your fasting insulin level is high you r on the way to becoming diabetic but have some time to change your lifestyle and prevent full blown diabetes.

Thanks for the agave tip. I didn't realize it's that high in fructose specifically. 20% glucose. Gatorade used to be all glucose. Interesting right. Natures way, pile in the fructose to get the fat to store. Never get full. Thanks for what you do. I wish i found you 20 years ago when i was messed up. I probably wouldn't have listened to you either. I hope others do and go to to and follow it to a T.
I have started the DETOX this week. I have followed low carb / keto diets for a decade - unfortunately I will go through periods (holidays mostly) where I will let it go and will feel horrible come end of December - January. I get back and start loosing the weight after a period of withdrawal from the carbs. However this week, the detox has taken a bit more of a withdrawal - where I feel tired and irritable (ask my wife). I turned 66 last fall, and I now want the benefits of using food as medicine and get off my chol drug and my gout drug... I did make a deal with my cardiologist and GP that I would ask to have the labs drawn to see if the Chol and uric acid is dropping - but how will I know? About how long do you think? I have also passed along your website to my Sister-in-law, because they have always had a problem with carb overload - and now my brother is recovering from a triple bypass. . They will need our prayers to get onto this....
I friggin had pizza for the first time in over a yee'uh. The reason being under my truck all day pulling out strands of serpentine belt caught in the pullys. I had to habs some food like pronto, no bee'uh. Man...carb city overload! Then came the chocolate cookie. It'll take a week to get back to where I was metabolically.

One sweetener that was not mentioned was allulose. It sounds less damaging that the others. I use very little of any sweetener but am curious if allulose wold be a good choice when just a little is used.
I rarely use white sugar and never corn syrup, but….. I love fresh maple syrup I buy from a local maker. I enjoy a spoonful in my coffee one day a week. Such a treat! I also love to bake homemade bread using Kamut flour, french gray salt, a little honey and butter. I bake 2 loaves a month. I don’t eat it every day. We eat whole natural foods leaning more ketovore on a daily basis. Food is one of life’s pleasures so we try to balance healthful eating with a few indulgences here and there like ice cream and good chocolate. Great video with lots of info! Thank you!
How healthy is rice bran or flour in supplements? Lost 17 lbs in last 2 months by getting off sugar..started with keto, but need some carbs as 20 grams is too little, so going towards Pegan diet..
My husband does like a “real” Coke every once in awhile. But most is made with high fructose corn syrup. He does find some in glass bottles made with real sugar. He knows that no sugar is good for him but at least he knows to steer clear of the other ones particularly

That was/is me. 5 days ago gave up sugar. It took me a few years to go from way, way too much sugar to just plain old too much sugar. Motivating factors to get off sugar completely (not incl fruit, good carbs) are I feel weak, emotional, and worst of all autoimmune condition causing my scalp to hurt and fall out. I’m 58. Hopeful!
yes its shocking what a chokehold sugar has had on me and my family our whole lives. it caused death in dad and I believe there is a psychological impact due to the addiction itself. I am trying to quit sugar again! 3 wks in and I am struggling with the headaches, bad dreams, overall fatigue. some days I feel good, others I feel dreadful! **if you have long covid you will be amazed at how much better you feel if you dont eat sugar. there is a connection! somebody needs to talk about this.
I used to have a "sweets drawer" near tv..... I decided to get rid of it and if i want something sweet i have to go and buy it. Today i pass the cookie and sweet section in a supermarket like a nonsmoker the cigarettes. Indeed it wasn't really that hard🤔 also for me surprising

OMG ! Seriously ??? 😅 My mom was a nurse and even she knew that sugar was bad ! The only time we had sugar in our house was for birthdays. And even then, everyone got a tiny slice of cake and one small scoop of ice cream. And about 2-3 times a year we had pizza and we split a can of root beer, 4 ways. 😮 So glad my mom didn’t allow crap in our house to eat. We snacked on veggies and lean meats. My grand kids love red and yellow peppers to snack on and avocados and baby carrots. 😁
POLITE NOTICE: It's important to stop using the word FAT in a negative light since FAT is intrinsic to our physiology. Your cleanse and repair system runs on fat. I am a sugar addict I was raised on sugar - cakes, biscuits etc. no discipline as a child and had many many stomach issues as a result. Looking back it's a miracle that I did not die young. Now at 50 years old, if I try to quit sugar I get very angry I consume around 800g of brown sugar in my tea per month + small amounts of biscuits, cakes, white chocolate or ice cream everyday I do not crave or eat many other carbs - bread, potatoes, rice or pasta only the sweet stuff. Aged 44 I tried a "healthy" 6 months of vegetable soups alongside my sugar daily intake. Ooops. My appendix got so inflamed I should be dead so they cut it out. I survived and learnt that we are carnivores and that plants have no place in the body. Pretty much everything in our supermarkets is poison Luckily I have always naturally found meat to be tasty and made me feel nice, so I have always eaten meat also. This is no doubt what has kept me in good health. Although I do not have any health issues and rarely get sick, I do know I need to quit sugar - but I have no idea how to do it. The ONLY time I do not crave sweet is if I drink alcohol, which of course is worse and TBH I don't like it so I don't drink anyway Feel free to advise. Cheers
My fruit smoothie, I have almost everyday (mid-morning most of the time) is purified water, fruits usually blueberries, pineapple, Chia seeds, Hemp powder for protein and fiber, and then I add raisins for my sweetness; I vary but also add powdered protein but it was adding things like dates and certain fruits for sweetness
@@vickikleist2263 Fiber doesn't counteract sugar. Fiber will slow down the blood sugar spike, but our bodies will still have to handle every bit of sugar that was in the fruit we ate. An insulin response happens whether we eat a banana, a pop tart, or Cheerios. Insulin response is the body producing insulin in order to handle storing the sugar we just ate. The more sugar, the more insulin. High insulin response is the root behind hypertension (aka high blood pressure), type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). It's no surprise that NAFLD is showing up in children these days. Non stop sugar consumption. Non stop carb consumption.
I had to wait 3 months before I could get my much needed hysterectomy. They found pre cancer cells. That was a wake up call. So for those 3 months before my surgery , I QUIT all sugary junk. I lost 10 pounds and felt great. They biopsied my uterus after the surgery and low and behold, my Dr seemed shocked that all the cells in there were normal. (I had endometriosis which I why I needed the hysterectomy and I was 53) but I believe I starved out those growing pre cancer cells. 👍🏻💪🏻

I came here from the foreign country in 2001, from where I from I eat more vegetables. Fish and rice., We eat pastry once in a while and the whole family would share. Then when I came here I was amazed of all the food and pastry that I have try ,mmm...it was Soo... delicious! But that enjoyment of wonderful foods it didn't take for very long...I was only 31 year's old when I found out that I have high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol and my triglycerides was very high of course, then my gallbladder was taken out because it was full of stones., My doctor he never sugar coated me...he told me that if I don't change of the way I eat I will never be able to make it to the age of 40. And if I DO! I will be in a handful of medication! It was the most depressing day of My life, but even though it is Soo hard to make the change I did it gradually and now I'm 43 years old and I am not taken any of medication. I only take supplements and fresh garlic.
In December I thought I was having heart failure. My BP was up. My pulse all over. I felt horrific. I quit sugar again (not my 1st time). Five days later I was fine. True story.
Yep. I was having back pain. My chiropractor said he thought it’s inflammation. And I know that inflammation comes mainly from a sugary diet. So I quit.. and within 3 days that pain was gone. So I canceled my follow up appointment. 😅

Having a little bit of sugar when one is a sugar addict has the same outcome as an alcoholic having one drink. A sugar addict is easily triggered by a little sugar which can lead to binge eating it and a relapse.

Thank you Dr. Hyman. This was so educational and informative. I think I may have discovered the cause of my gut issues. Starting tonight, no sugar. If I could stop smoking after 40 years cold turkey, I can quit sugar. I just past my 22nd year smoke free. It can be done and so can quitting sugar. My mother had beautiful skin right into her 90's. She ate a plant based diet and took no meds at all. She never ate sugar. She passed peacefully at home without illness at age 99.

shocked that ALL my joint pain is GONE! I’m a nurse and 12 hour shifts with achy hips and knees were really starting to concern me. I can’t believe that after only 5 days without sugar my pain has COMPLETELY disappeared. I am honestly in shock. Not to mention, I have been chronically exhausted for 10 years and I have had more energy over the past couple days than I can remember. I really hope this isn’t a fluke because it feels too good to be true.

It really does work! Same happens to me when I have sugar. Please don't forget this and how great you feel. I keep "falling off the wagon" I would like to be sugar free for life. My children are so healthy without it too and they love being sugar free.

Try enjoying healthier desserts, maybe learn to make some. Also try replacing the white rice and pasta (if you consume them) with brown rice or quinoa and a spinach base pasta). See if you can find or order online a 'healthier' soda such as GUS (grown up soda) or similar. Lastly do your own research....nothing drives the point home like what you read and understand for yourself.
The slow reduction of sugar in the foods you consume and the drinks will result in almost immediate benefits that you will feel which will in turn increase your desire to stick with the replacements. In short, any significant reduction in sugar consumption beats no change at all. Wishing you the best and you can do it! 👍

Recently, I was at the supermarket and picked up a bottle of horseradish sauce. One brand had sugar, less than one gram but sugar never the less. Put it back and selected the one without sugar. I would love to know why sugar is in horseradish sauce. At the same supermarket, I looked at come frozen wild caught, cooked cocktail shrimp. Added sugar? Why? I put it back and purchased a bag of wild caught shrimp. Either corporations are adding sugar to cover the taste of poor ingredients or they are trying to addict the consumer.

I quit drinking 5.5 years ago while training to climb Mt. Aconcagua (22,841 feet). Never went back to drinking and hopefully never will. I just did a 5 + day fast and it was much easier than I thought it would be. I plan on cutting out processed sugar altogether very soon. This video helped.
I think the problem is that nobody is cooking healthy meals every night for family dinner. With both parents working, who has the time or energy? The answer - fast foods, unfortunately.
Yes if I go to a fast food joint all I see are lard tubs of whole families eating in there. The time it took you to get all the kids in the car, drive there, order, and wait you could have made a good home cooked meal and taken care of your children better. (And no I'm not the one eating in those places).

It's a burden for one person to do it all, all the time, especially if they put in hours at a job outside the home. Also, the chief cook and bottlewasher would love to come home to a prepared meal that wasn't pizza or takeout.
Wanna amend. Even if you stay at home all day minding a family, it would be nice to sit down to a home cooked meal someone else prepared.
It can be done, that's just another excuse. You can batch cook on Sundays and freeze it or cook simple foods - beans, rice, salads, etc. I hate to cook but I eat lots of the above.

I was pre diabetic and an A1C c of 6.0. Went on keto and intermittent fasting. At 6 months my a1C went down to 5.3. I have been doing this for a year now. My mood has leveled out lost 39 pounds. Have consistently stayed at 120 lbs. whenever I get feeling like I want sweets I listen to these posts. Gets me regenerated and recommitted to my healthy lifestyle.

If you eat sugar and/or high refined carb (such as candy/pop or bread/pretzels) one day, it sets you up to crave more sugar/refined carbs the next day.

This past spring, millions upon millions of pollinators died in Georgia..
They were in California waiting to go to Alaska to do their job, and the flight for some reason was deferred to Georgia. Of all places. And then sat on the tarmac for hours in the heat. When they travel, pollinators have to be kept cool, with airflow.
The airlines apologized and said they would learn from this experience and do better next time..
That doesn't help the poor bees, nor the owners livelihood.. 😔

I have been watching Dr. Hyman's videos and others re: sugar, and I can report my personal experience has been phenomenal. Metabolically I was in the worst shape of my life (I'm 60). My blood sugar, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist circumference all were off the chart. I cut out sugar. I increased good fats. I started working out again, and NOTHING STRENUOUS, LIKE CROSS FIT, WHICH I THINK IS horrible FOR THE BODY, but simply fast walking, core workouts, and light weights. I am down 25 pounds, my BP and sugar are back to normal, and my triglycerides decreased by 77 points.
My mom tells the story, before I left the hospital as a newborn, they put Karo in my bottle to get me to drink more. True story.
Now I’m here because I was recently diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. I’m researching the possible effects sugar has as a trigger.

I’ve been doing a keto/carnivore diet since 2019. I lost 52 pounds postmenopausal and have basically maintained my weight within 2 to 3 pounds of my loss up-to-date. I feel great! I do use Stevia in my coffee and I am a coffee connoisseur. I have two regular cups of coffee in the morning but I do drink a few cups of decaf throughout the day simply because I love the taste of coffee. I guess you could say the Stevia is my downfall if I were to only have one, that is it. It’s the natural organic type, but I suppose, too much of anything is no good ….we all know that. It hasn’t affected the scale, but the more I read about Stevia I find it does affect the Microbiome environment. According to Dr. Lustig, there are 52 names for sugar that are buried in an ingredient food list.

My grand parents ate a high meat diet but zero sugar. They didn’t even eat bread. And just drank water. They both lived well into their 90’s. Neither one were ever on any prescription meds 👍🏻😁
Stevia does give an Insulin response btw according to new study you can read about in the book ‘Metabolical’ It’s not a free pass and Will eventually raise blood glucose too

Here is something I recently learned. I have always been told 120/80 BP was good. Today I was tested at 120/73 and the nurse said that my BP was really good. But then I went online and it says that 120 is pushing the levels of pre-hypertension, I also learned that the new standard of health is 130/80. I have found that there is a correlation of systolic with V02 max and diastolic and resting heart rate. Not sure if this is medically true or not, but seems to correlate.
In European countries NORMAL Blood Pressure is 140/90.
Big Pharma keeps on lowering the blood pressure numbers just to sell more blood pressure medications and bigger profits

Anyways, the information on his channel is so powerful and life changing. This is day 3 for me of not having any late night snacks. Doing ok, but my big challenge will be cutting out sugar. I totally agree about sugars plus vegetable fats, I was very surprised that there is often vegetable oils in so call bio products
Sugar also saved my life. During an awful UC flareup, I was losing so much blood most of the time that I used the bathroom and I was using the bathroom up to 10 to 15 times a day with nothing but liquid diarrhea all day for 3 months. It was a never ending nightmare. But something that helped my body maintain energy was sugar. White bread was something my body loved and all those carbs helped me in so many ways. The sugary sports drinks also helped me feel more normal and energetic. In fact, I almost fainted one day, and sugar brought me right back. I still eat sugar and foods that turn into sugar. I also exercise everyday and feel super healthy these days. My gut is working again, no more blood, and normal stools. I still enjoy sweets in moderation. In fact, I no longer drink caffein, but carbs and sugar give me steady energy throughout the day and I don't crash like I used to with caffein. Sugar is not bad, it's the way you consume it that can be bad and what kind of conditions that also determine if you should avoid sugar. But for people like me, sugar is a life saver.
You had an unusual and very serious medical condition . I'm surprised you didn't need IV hydration and hospitalization. With literally everything going right through you ( constant diarrhea) any fluids you could keep down and any solid food you could tolerate would help you. Hope u r doing better now. If your UC is stable you might consider being tested for lactose intolerance and celiac disease.
@@lindajones4849 Thank you, I'm still doing fine. I'm struggling a bit, but it's been very manageable. As for the lactose, it's ironic you mention intolerance because dairy products are another thing that kept me living happily through the flare. It helped me maintain some weight and I've never had a lactose problem. Milk, cheese, and yogurt all saved my life too. Those were literally the only foods that my body seemed to absorb. Banana, white bread, chicken, and dairy were the only foods that I felt like my body was gaining energy from, and then the sports drink helped maintain my energy. Everything else, my gut would immediately reject. I still can't eat carrots, they go right through me, and broccoli makes me cramp. It's very strange. The only greens I can thoroughly digest are soft green beans, and lettuce. Not iceberg lettuce. Oh and sweet potato is my new favorite veggie, my body can digest it quite well. However, I can still eat very moderate amounts of cooked veggies like broccoli now that I'm doing far better, but I choose to avoid them. It's a very strange condition to be honest, but I've been making it through. I'm surprised myself that I didn't get any IV injections and stuff, I was literally staying strong and holding on to life. I never want to feel that way ever again. Sunshine also keeps me healthy, I don't know what it does, but it rejuvenates me and makes me feel calm and happy. I remember sitting in the sun during my intense flare up, and whenever I was in the sun, my symptoms would quite for longer than usual. The sun has magic powers that scientist aren't talking about!

Keep gallons of water overnight. This will drastically reduce sulphur from liquid to gas.... out of the water. Can't drink or cook with the water straight out of the sink faucet. My cats prefer the still water too.
The sugar case is sooo complicated to deal with.Sugar is part of our culture.In Quebec, we grow apples and we produce maple syrup.So as kids we ate ham , fruit pies as dessert which we had every day and cakes were another choice as dessert.Dessert very impregnated in our culture.So it is very tough to cut sugar.I am 55 and I cut soft drinks. I drink a lot more water but I like ice cream and desserts. I got your books doctor and I try to cut as much as I can but in Canada it is so easy to find a sugar product.It is struggling to go to the market. For the last 3yrs I went from 16oz(500ml) of coffee and 2 packets of hot choc then over ice then to 32 oz of coffee an one packet then over ice then no sugar hot choc then goat milk then coconut milk then choc protein powder then pure Cocoa powder and so on as I learned more but now I just dip a spoon into grass fed chocolate milk an stir my coffee with it. .. it's tough to replace our comforts an social norms but I feel above it now looking down on the soda drinkers and Starbucks phooffy drinks. Lol.. making healthy food taste great is a hobby and a necessity now...

I believe I have a good metabolism. My friends are worrying about how can my main nutrition be sugar, yet for decades my blood works are excellent. I really don't see the reason why I should stop. Do you think I am just lucky? That I will suddenly get sick in the future? The only reason I see is that I personally don't like addictions
I'm interested in what specific blood work you had. Did you get a FASTInG blood sugar and fasting insulin level? This is VERY important. Suggest asking a doc for a glucose tolerance test because I'm concerned u may be headed for diabetes. Best wishes.
Thanks & that cuts out my “splenda” in my coffee. 😅& I just bought a box of 1000 packets thinking it is good & it’s not. I also drink tumeric water with honey every 2 days. 3 times a week I drink a smoothie with a vegetable, fresh berries that I freeze, with almonds, chia/hemp seeds, water, moringa powder or tumeric powder. I occasionally eat 70% dark chocolate & sometimes the forbidden chocolate. So now today no more Splenda or forbidden chocolate & I have great willpower when it comes to my health. I just had blood work done & results were good. I work out daily & you mentioned “monk fruit”, which will be added to my diet in moderation. Is monk fruit good in coffee? Get fasting blood sugar and fasting insulin level . Getting the fasting insulin level is important . Your fasting blood sugar is the last thing to rise before you become diabetic. If your blood sugar is normal but your your fasting insulin level is high you r on the way to becoming diabetic but have some time to change your lifestyle and prevent full blown diabetes.

Thanks for the agave tip. I didn't realize it's that high in fructose specifically. 20% glucose. Gatorade used to be all glucose. Interesting right. Natures way, pile in the fructose to get the fat to store. Never get full. Thanks for what you do. I wish i found you 20 years ago when i was messed up. I probably wouldn't have listened to you either. I hope others do and go to to and follow it to a T.

I have started the DETOX this week. I have followed low carb / keto diets for a decade - unfortunately I will go through periods (holidays mostly) where I will let it go and will feel horrible come end of December - January. I get back and start loosing the weight after a period of withdrawal from the carbs. However this week, the detox has taken a bit more of a withdrawal - where I feel tired and irritable (ask my wife). I turned 66 last fall, and I now want the benefits of using food as medicine and get off my chol drug and my gout drug... I did make a deal with my cardiologist and GP that I would ask to have the labs drawn to see if the Chol and uric acid is dropping - but how will I know? About how long do you think?
I have also passed along your website to my Sister-in-law, because they have always had a problem with carb overload - and now my brother is recovering from a triple bypass. . They will need our prayers to get onto this....

I friggin had pizza for the first time in over a yee'uh. The reason being under my truck all day pulling out strands of serpentine belt caught in the pullys. I had to habs some food like pronto, no bee'uh. Man...carb city overload! Then came the chocolate cookie. It'll take a week to get back to where I was metabolically.

One sweetener that was not mentioned was allulose. It sounds less damaging that the others. I use very little of any sweetener but am curious if allulose wold be a good choice when just a little is used.
I believe all the others are less damaging than sugar.....

I rarely use white sugar and never corn syrup, but….. I love fresh maple syrup I buy from a local maker. I enjoy a spoonful in my coffee one day a week. Such a treat! I also love to bake homemade bread using Kamut flour, french gray salt, a little honey and butter. I bake 2 loaves a month. I don’t eat it every day. We eat whole natural foods leaning more ketovore on a daily basis. Food is one of life’s pleasures so we try to balance healthful eating with a few indulgences here and there like ice cream and good chocolate. Great video with lots of info! Thank you!

My husband does like a “real” Coke every once in awhile. But most is made with high fructose corn syrup. He does find some in glass bottles made with real sugar. He knows that no sugar is good for him but at least he knows to steer clear of the other ones particularly

That was/is me. 5 days ago gave up sugar. It took me a few years to go from way, way too much sugar to just plain old too much sugar. Motivating factors to get off sugar completely (not incl fruit, good carbs) are I feel weak, emotional, and worst of all autoimmune condition causing my scalp to hurt and fall out. I’m 58. Hopeful!
yes its shocking what a chokehold sugar has had on me and my family our whole lives. it caused death in dad and I believe there is a psychological impact due to the addiction itself. I am trying to quit sugar again! 3 wks in and I am struggling with the headaches, bad dreams, overall fatigue. some days I feel good, others I feel dreadful! **if you have long covid you will be amazed at how much better you feel if you dont eat sugar. there is a connection! somebody needs to talk about this.
I used to have a "sweets drawer" near tv.....
I decided to get rid of it and if i want something sweet i have to go and buy it.
Today i pass the cookie and sweet section in a supermarket like a nonsmoker the cigarettes.

The only time we had sugar in our house was for birthdays. And even then, everyone got a tiny slice of cake and one small scoop of ice cream. And about 2-3 times a year we had pizza and we split a can of root beer, 4 ways. 😮 So glad my mom didn’t allow crap in our house to eat. We snacked on veggies and lean meats.
My grand kids love red and yellow peppers to snack on and avocados and baby carrots. 😁

I am a sugar addict
I was raised on sugar - cakes, biscuits etc. no discipline as a child and had many many stomach issues as a result. Looking back it's a miracle that I did not die young.
Now at 50 years old, if I try to quit sugar I get very angry
I consume around 800g of brown sugar in my tea per month + small amounts of biscuits, cakes, white chocolate or ice cream everyday
I do not crave or eat many other carbs - bread, potatoes, rice or pasta only the sweet stuff.
Aged 44 I tried a "healthy" 6 months of vegetable soups alongside my sugar daily intake. Ooops. My appendix got so inflamed I should be dead so they cut it out. I survived and learnt that we are carnivores and that plants have no place in the body. Pretty much everything in our supermarkets is poison
Luckily I have always naturally found meat to be tasty and made me feel nice, so I have always eaten meat also. This is no doubt what has kept me in good health.
Although I do not have any health issues and rarely get sick, I do know I need to quit sugar - but I have no idea how to do it.
The ONLY time I do not crave sweet is if I drink alcohol, which of course is worse and TBH I don't like it so I don't drink anyway

My fruit smoothie, I have almost everyday (mid-morning most of the time) is purified water, fruits usually blueberries, pineapple, Chia seeds, Hemp powder for protein and fiber, and then I add raisins for my sweetness; I vary but also add powdered protein but it was adding things like dates and certain fruits for sweetness
If you are obese and have a Fatty liver, then bathing your liver in a fructose cocktail isn't going to improve your health.
Sugar is sugar doesn't matter which source it comes from ! remove the fibre by juicing it's even worse ,
You are breaking down the fiber and causing a bigger spike by not eating the whole fruit. The fiber is what helps to counteract the fructose in fruit.

@@vickikleist2263 Fiber doesn't counteract sugar. Fiber will slow down the blood sugar spike, but our bodies will still have to handle every bit of sugar that was in the fruit we ate. An insulin response happens whether we eat a banana, a pop tart, or Cheerios. Insulin response is the body producing insulin in order to handle storing the sugar we just ate. The more sugar, the more insulin. High insulin response is the root behind hypertension (aka high blood pressure), type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
It's no surprise that NAFLD is showing up in children these days. Non stop sugar consumption. Non stop carb consumption.
