Respectfully I can not watch every other video to figure out how you plug everything in. You open the video with everything up and running. Could you please direct me to what video shows the set up step by step. I am 70 years old. I really need step by step instructions. Thank you. Hope to hear from you.
The Boss OC-3 has a range knob so you can play guitar and have the octave effect applied say only to the lowest string of the guitar, does subnup do that?
I really enjoyed this video. Do you have any tips on how to create a flute sound like the solo of Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues. The mellotron one doesn't quite cut it for me.
This is incredibly helpful. I got the sub n up mini in hopes to get a 12-string guitar sound when I plug in my acoustic. I was bummed to find out that even when I turn down the sub knob all the way, I still hear sub tones. It turns out that the sub n up mini still has sub2 turned on, even though it doesn’t have a physical knob. I just turned it all the way off in the TonePrint app, and now my acoustic sounds pretty darn close to a 12-string. Especially if I turn on a little bit of chorus in the modulation menu. Thanks again for your informative video.
Cool, glad it was useful! If you use any of the other TC pedals check out the rest of the series, I have a whole bunch of tutorials out and there's more in the making 😀
Try opening the Organ Generator template, then set the volume for the lower octaves where you'd like it to be when you're playing on the high strings. When you're happy with that, pop over to the Input EQ tab and try setting up a low cut or low shelf (or a combination of both...) to filter out the lower frequencies before they get passed on to the octave generators. It might a bit of an interactive process between adjusting the octave volumes and EQs, but with a bit of tweaking you'll probably get something more like what you're looking for.
That's the beauty of toneprint, you can even map it to whatever you deem useful, even the Input EQ Resonant filter if you so wish 😁 I talk more in depth about mappings in this video, if you'd like a refresher: ua-cam.com/video/aAS0BAeMwTQ/v-deo.html. 👍🏻
Thank you for doing what TC should have done from ten start! Could you do a tutorial of the Brainwaves? There's so much but it's not explained, thank you again!
I'm working through the whole series 😁 I've got a running poll on Twitter (@PedalPlatform) to decide the next one, so far the Hypergravity is ahead, but if you use Twitter go drop your vote 🙏🏻
@@PedalPlatform Aww man, I've cast my vote but that didn't do much to help, I guess the Hypergravity is more commonly owned than the Brainwaves, but I'll keep an eye out for it, thank you for doing this again, I've subbed!
Thanks for the video, really helped me to understand the pc app. I'm having a problem though, and I think it maybe an issue with my pedal in particular. The problem is that I can't save toneprints in my pedal, it's always in organ as a default. I've made a custom toneprint and I can use it as long as I'm in the app with the pc, but when I try to "save in the pedal" it returns to the organ sound. I can disconnect the pedal from the pc and still use my toneprint, but when I disconnect the power supply it get lost. I've tried the phone app and I get the same problem, it doesn't save the toneprints. Sorry if it's too much, maybe you can help me.
(Ops, sorry, I responded by UA-cam had it for lunch...) I've never seen that happen in a TonePrint pedal before, so you might have to contact TC support for that one... 😟Sorry!
@@jlaguilarjazz Did you get an answer? I have now tried two Sub'N'Up pedals and both ahve the same problem which you had. I came to this video to see if there is some trick to it.
@@SamuelWebster they sent the case to the development department a week ago. They first asked me to update the applications and libraries, without solution. Still waiting.
Hi, I have bought these pedal few days ago. In your experience is there a way to apply the octave fx only on the low strings (È, A and D) leaving the upper strings not touched by the fx? Thank you 👍
I don't have direct experience with the OC-5, but from what I see on the specs and heard from trusted sources, the "Lowest" setting on the OC-5 filters out the high notes in a more aggressive way than the Sub'n'Up can do. As for acoustic guitar, it won't perfectly simulate a 12 string guitar because it can't keep track of which strings should be doubled in unison or octave up, but other than that, not a problem.
Awesome videos again!! I wonder is it possible to create some form of expression controlled/LFO cutoff filter like a synth would have? What about creating a simple bass guitar sound for looping purposes, what kind of low/low mid frequencies would you focus on for the input/output filters.. Thanks a million, I’ll be sure to buy you a ko-fi and think of more questions 😜
Those are excellent questions, really! The expression controlled cutoff filter is possible by going into the Output EQ for the voice you want to use (or just link them all and use the Sub2 settings), set one of the Sub EQ Types to HiCut, then assign the Sub EQ Freq to the Expression Pedal - or even the MASH switch if you need to keep the expression pedal free for something else. Choose the appropriate range in the mapping window, and if you want the MASH to close the filter on press (filter open without pressure), don't forget to invert the curve. I'll have a play with that at some point and make a video, probably on a future Q&A! As for the simple bass guitar sound, use the input filter only if you want to restrict a range of the fretboard from triggering the octaves, then I'd tweak the output filters with a ParEQ to scoop a bit of mid range (where the guitar sound will live), and probably a Hi Shelf to decide how bright / dull I'd want it. Hope this helps for now, and by all means, keep coming up with the questions! 🙏🏻
@@PedalPlatform Awesome thanks for this. I will have a play around tonight and will certainly keep thinking of questions.. :D But I will play with this for now.. THANKS AGAIN!!
@@PedalPlatform Thanks a lot. I was able to create a low pass filter controlled by the expression pedal to give a bass wah kind of sound, very pleased so thanks!! HOWEVER, I am having a real hard time with levels on this effect, even after taking sub2 out of the equation. Noticing a BIG volume drop on my bass patches.. This hasn't always been a problem and my toneprint app has been really glitchy lately.. Any ideas on matching dry signal volume levels? Thanks
@@jdlandon90 Have you checked if the volume drop is related to the filters, or if you accidentally have a volume mapping active at the same time? If not, you might want to experiment with mapping the volume to increase as the filter closes. Maybe also putting a compressor after the Sub to even out the volume changes...

Does only the Sub n Up mini have the Mash feature? I can't find this tab on the original Sub n Up, or the Router tab
Both Sub n Up pedals were released pre-MASH, so they won't have it... the Plethora version does, though.

Hey, glad for all the explanation. I always use the Organ Generator, but the Sub Octave really bothers me on the low strings, how could i fix it?

Thank you 🙏🏻 The Brainwaves is a little beast of a pedal, that's for sure... let's see if it makes it to the top of the list after the Hypergravity. 😁
why is knob mapping only 3 knobs?
Because the Plethora, which I was using for this tutorial, only has the 3 knobs 😉 The standalone Sub'n'up's 4 knobs all show up on the Mapping page.
Is it possible to add fuzz?
