Hey got a 2018 cruze 1.4 auto. I was not driving the car for like a month, it was at a body shop. I got the car back and it started misfiring, i took the plugs out, coils, and the whole fuel rail out. changed the plugs and coil packs, i noticed that the hole for the injectors had a bunch of debriee and oil in them. i cleaned the injectors just with some carb cleaner but only from the outside i didn't have an injector tester to clean the inside of them. and its still misfiring. btw the plugs were dry no oil on them. If you could get back to me that would be awesome because so far i have the last option left and its injector replacement but 500$ is kind off tight for me right now. Thank you! Love your content hi from Canada.
Hi dirty injectors like that is normal because of how dirty the intake system is. www.supercruzes.com has an oil separator catch can system that changes the PCV routing. The reason those injectors get so dirty and the plugs is from the oil and moisture getting into the intake system

Nice video sir, packed with some really good information. Well you opened up a few options for me as a gen 1 owner just by talking about the charge pipe from intercooler to throttle body. By saying it can make a cooler charge temp. At boost & less restrictions. I have been waiting for a forge Reciulation valve from BNR before I move farther on with more parts. Also I got a belly pan for the car to see if that helps with mpgs. as well as my 12 never had one but 35.6 pre Gallon isn't bad. Also with direct injection unfortunately you carbon build up on valves and intake runners due the no fuel dilution before the valves. I imagine a good oil can help with keeping this down but if it gets carried away periodically these areas have to be cleaned as I have seen in other channels on the tube. Have safe day with the family.

Wished I would've seen this video like a month ago. I was having low boost code and started to chase the problem. 2017 LT auto, installed the chevy cold air but no tune yet, before the code. Replaced inlet outlet tubes of the intercooler, and replaced the turbocharger with stock one. My cruze has 110k+ as I commute a total of 120 miles every work day. Thanks Dave for your knowledge of the common problems again I became aware of these issues on my own and with research.
Dave, ok here i go. I am a parts supervisor for a large fleet operator, with a direct connection to ordering from GM over the years I order repair parts for gm. Now the cruze is no longer in production, our company has done warranty work. So I have so called obsolete gm parts which I take, since our agreement with GM I cannot return. Outside of a new engine or the transmission I don't have in stock. So that's my story. I do plan on getting your intercooler pipes and maybe the intercooler,.
And with a p1101 definitely look at throttle body and make sure it is clean. I have seen a bunch of 1.5 vehicles with that code set for throttle body air flow compensation
Awesome channel you turned me onto cleaning the throttle plate which fixed my daughters car. She had been driving it in the automatic six speed mode because of the stumbling on restart now that we fixed it the car shuts off at a stoplight but you have to manually put it in park and restart it with the key. What has caused this if you have time thank you.
When she lets up on the brake pedal it does not restart? I have a start stop disable kit as well. This will stop it from shutting off . supercruzesstore.com/products/auto-start-stop-delete-disables-the-start-stop-function
Yea the manual unfortunately is wrong about a lot. I would do them every 25,000 miles on any turbo car especially since the 1.4 is known for running dirty air due to oil intrusion.
@davesworld2132 Good to know, thanks. I'll do that. I just had them done by somebody else and mechanics, in spite of my requests, are loathe to give me the old parts so I can examine them and learn. I bought the car used and I'm just trying to learn all of the common problems and issues with these to try not to lose my shirt maintaining it. I like the car. Here in the mountains of Utah, it performs well for its small displacement.
A lot of times the manual is a general guide line. But it does not take into account location, seasons, driving style, and age of the driver. Most of the time the maintenance recommendations are very off because of this. It's good to learn because the more you know the better you can treat the car. Always keep in touch if you ever need some help. @@BenKlassen1
A common problem on Ford Panther platforms is when people change from the OEM airbox to a cone filter, they put way too much oil on the filter. Since the MAF sensor is only 3 inches downstream from the filter, it gets gummed up with oil from the cone filter. The car runs like crap and throws a OBDII code. I can easily see this happening in this application as well.
Yea I've seen that before. I have a 4.6 Saleen engine in my garage and I've been tinkering with that intake system and can def see that happening to that style maf.
I haven't been on the forums for a while but I remember them recommending the dry injen filter instead of the oiled k&n filter probably for that reason
4:23 I had a car with this engine in the shop with the code for an underboost condition, and the problem wasn't a crack, but the play you're talking about where the actuator shaft passes through the turbine housing. It had become so loose that when the wastegate flap was supposed to be sealed flat around the hole, it was actually cocked at an angle and had an obvious gap around 2/3 of the sealing surface. This obviously allowed exhaust to leak around the turbine even when it was supposed to getting maximum flow. I had to pull the downpipe off and use an inspection mirror and pocket flashlight to see it. The amazing thing was that NAPA stocked a Dorman aftermarket turbo kit with all the gaskets and trimmings for about $800 that fixed it.
Hey what’s up! I have a subscriber with that exact same problem. After going back-and-forth with him we realized that buying an aftermarket bigger turbo was only a few bucks more. So he went that route instead of an oem type. But same fix. What your describing is exactly why I put that little social media clip in. How how much better did it run after you made the repair?
@@davesworld2132 It was only a marginal difference, although I was not really evaluating it's performance. All anybody cared about in that case was fixing the check engine light.
@@Fopeano lol “regular folk” take check engine lights way too serious lol i’ve been playing around with spark plug gap’s this weekend it’s amazing how changing a gap ever so slightly increases or decreases performance substantially.

I think one problem I ran into with my build was the shifter. I don’t remember if your short throw shifter video pointed it out but for an amateur I messed up the shift linkage position for the reverse lockout so I wouldn’t catch gears properly. First, second, and reverse were misaligned and I had to go back in and adjust off of first or reverse.
Yes I had that problem as well. I also ran into a situation where the shifter was fine and then later on when winter came and it got very cold out I couldn’t get into reverse again. Then I had to readjust.
i got 2014 lt rs and i got a after market coil pack because the original one was looking a little rough with the springs and i got new spark plugs and the new was really loud “tuck tuck tuck” noise.. everytime i pressed on the gas but after i out the original one in it works perfectly. i’m guessing it was the spark plugs but i did buy that stuff because i buy the aluminum valve cover gasket and that’s been working perfectly ever since. if anybody sees this i’d recommend doing that 😂❤
Yea torque wrench on the spark plugs and they are known to get loose overtime, I changed my plugs at 90k and at 101k I had a weird noise on startup so I started googling and came to find out two of my plugs were slightly looser than the torque spec, still tight but not at tight as the others and it's been a week and I have not heard the noise again
New top of the line plugs, had mechanic monitor computer while running said it was getting too much air then not enough air when driving, cleaned mass air flow sensor properly, replaced air pressure/temp sensor, replaced gas pedal, ran sea foam through throttle body while holding at 2k rpm until can was gone and drove with spirited acceleration after as can says to do, replaced throttle body. No codes, stutters at low rpm when I try to get up on it. Seems to only happen when there is high torque demand at low rpm. If I downshift and get up on it everything is fine. Seems like it's running rich when I drive between 2-3k too much. Also ran compression test and was good.(2018 1.4 LT Cruze)
The Volvo OEM intercooler has a small weep hole that allows to drain any moisture collected inside. VW products do not have this feature and they collect so much water that it fails to start. Volvo also reverse the piping to prevent this problem on colder weather locations.

Would you say that 2018 is the most reliable year for Cruze? Me too!!! Lol filmed a lot of stuff. Edition everything as we type!
Cruze owner's manual says to change the spark plugs every 60k miles, BTW. Thanks for the video!
@Yeah Right yup, the first search result is the same Dorman kit for $504.99. I guess that's the cost of getting it in 15 minutes and fixing the car on the spot, which is the best way for any shop to efficiently do business. I'll bring this up to my front end people today just to let them know.
Great video, brother!! 👍 actually brought up an issue that I didn't think was one but I'll tell you about it.
Sure look forward to hearing from you!
Then I had to readjust.
i got 2014 lt rs and i got a after market coil pack because the original one was looking a little rough with the springs and i got new spark plugs and the new was really loud “tuck tuck tuck” noise.. everytime i pressed on the gas but after i out the original one in it works perfectly. i’m guessing it was the spark plugs but i did buy that stuff because i buy the aluminum valve cover gasket and that’s been working perfectly ever since. if anybody sees this i’d recommend doing that 😂❤
Check to law sure the spark plugs are not loose as well.

It was back in January when it gets severe even 6th gear wobble/shakes (when the car is underload going up a slope or with passengers) the car along with 5th gear so technically I can only drive down the side streets as the 4th gear only goes 50mph @60mph it just screams and in need to shift to the next but like I said shifting to 5th gear will make the car shake violently. Then one night on my way home I really wanted the transmission code to show up so I kinda push the 5th gear till the car went limp mode (It only show on the Dash "L" and not the usual "L1,L2, etc) and there it was, P0796 and P0700, one is for Pressure Solenoid failure and Failure or open circuit in TCM for the second one.
@@czerus2233 Oh ok that makes sense. At first I thought you meant the intake caused leak code caused the problem. Are you doing the rebuild?
