i know this is a really late comment but i’ve been trying to search absolutely everywhere and have no answers. what is the black box that is connected to ur pcv hose leading to ur cold air intake called? can those cause any issues on your cruze?

A catch can gets the oil and water vapor from the blow-by, right? But what about humidity in the air? Wouldn't that also condense in the intercooler and cause problems? I'm getting water and virtually no oil in my intercooler. Haven't installed a catch can yet and wondering if it would be better to put a drain on the intercooler.
What can do you have. This is an older video I redisned the system to catch alot more moisture, vapor and Oil. It's important to route the system properly on the gen 2 CRUZE and not just put a can on the car.
@@davesworld2132 I have a 2016 gen 2 Cruze, no catch can yet. Before I install one, I want to make sure it will solve my problems. Is humid intake air going to condense in the intercooler? I'm talking about the regular intake air through the air filter, not what comes from the PCV. Since I have almost all water and basically no oil in the intercooler, I'm not convinced that it's all coming from the PCV. Thus the question.
@@timeckert5164 there is more moisture in your gas and crank case then you will ever see in your air intake. This is why the cam system is important. If you message me directly through my website I can show you examples of the type of things that are circulating through the engine. It’s actually a quite dirty intake system
@@davesworld2132 Thank you, but I believe you. Don't need examples. I cleaned out the intercooler at the end of December. The increase in power and acceleration was fantastic. In about 2-3 weeks it was dogging down again. The past couple days have been around 0 degrees and I'm getting repeated underboost codes and it takes half an hour of driving just to get the intake melted enough for air to flow well. I think it's past time for a can. Thank you so much for your videos! They have been very, very helpful.
Update - I put a can on, two cans actually. What a difference! There was so much crud in the PCV system, I don't think much air was getting through. I replaced the 2 PCV valves and routed them through one can to the intake and replaced the breather and routed it through a second can to the turbo (all stock, no mods). Now I have much better and more consistent acceleration. Clearly more power. It's fantastic! Also, for the few months before that, I was getting a slow oil drip off the back of the engine. It looked like it was from the head gasket, but hard to see, so I couldn't be sure. Since installing the cans, I haven't seen any oil drops on the driveway. Perhaps the PCV system was so clogged up, it was building pressure in the crankcase and pushing oil out through the gasket, but now with the system working properly and the pressure relieved, it's not? I'm very glad I did this. Thank you again for your videos!
I installed a 350 mL can about a month ago. At 800 miles it was completely full, so I'm thinking I should empty it every 500 miles or so. I have a 2016 gen 2, 1.4L engine all stock, no mods, 179k miles, mostly highway driving.
