We could play a drinking game with all the times I say "ok" --- sorry, my bad! Ok!!
Do box hair dyes cause the hair to break off easy? Hair breakage.
@@rachelbailey-no2pp@rachelbailey-no2pp It can get over-processed if you put the color roots to ends every time. Which can cause the hair to get brittle and break
@@Bekah_and_co_prohair Please can you explain colour roots to ends?
Hair salon color messed my hair up more then the box color and cost me $200. I get a color just slightly lighter then my natural color put it on my roots only for 10 min after applying and mix water with rest of my hair color and put it on my hair in the shower. I keep that on my hair for 10 ish minutes and wash it all out. I go in with a hair mask after that for 10 minutes and boom, $ 12 hair color in no time, in your own home. Oh ,and use a color brush and bowl for the roots only application ,section hair, and don't overlap during this time.
Most box hair dyes contain 20 volume developer, 40 is not used in box dye normally
Yes that’s bleach
Wow. This was really helpful. I resorted to box during COVID and no wonder I am straw-like. And yes it is hard to just do the roots. I just no longer want to sit in a salon for color. It takes so long. I basically waste half a day to get a cut and color, by the time I drive there, wait, go through all the processes, get styled, pay, etc. There was a time I looked forward to the pampering but now, I have so little patience.
I feel you. Once it starts to feel like a chore, it takes the fun out of it.
I started using home hair dye back in 2015 when I needed to save cachinga and TBH I have not looked back! Yes I have used some duds but the time and cost I save makes it worth it.
Do you recommend a particular brand? ❤
@@AnnieBrinkley-g8d I did like the Schwarzkopf Oleo Intense plus the Garnier Belle Color (although this did fade quiet quick). I have lots of reviews on my channel - if you want more options.
You are wrong. The dark hair dyes come with 20 volume developer. Remember they are afraid of law suits.
This video was a game changer for me. I have been boxing dying my hair all wrong for 25 years. Thank you!
Super helpful! Also, your hair color looks so good on you!
I have been going to beauty schools off and on for years. It might take a little longer. You have an instructor nearby. Saved me quite a bit of money. Give it a try❤
My issue is that due to the hubby's job, we move...a lot. My hair often looks like shit, because I'm selective. I'm scared to trust people!
I used box color 3 or 4 times in my life & everything was fine until I changed the color shade 😂 My outgrow did not match the rest of my hair & then a few weeks later when my natural hair started growing out again I had 3 colors on my head & they were super noticeable and not blended at all.
But it was ok until I switched to a different shade 😅
My mom used it to cover grey hair and loves it though. We only do her roots. I personally prefer going to the salon & I love the results, but it’s ten times more expensive 😅 Literally, exactly 10 times more. So I get why some people prefer to diy their hair!
alot of salon hairdressers make a COMPLETE trashed mess of peoples hair. and.. they dont listen to u . they just do whatever THEY want to do.
I’m sorry that’s been your experience. :(
Use a really, really good hair conditioner and a mask. Helps a TON!! ❤🎉
A lot of the professional dyes are available for everyone now. Blondeme bleach and developers are an order away. I think people should just do that inho. I always thought box dye is 20V except for hi lift colors. Only the past 2 years people been saying it’s 30/40 V. When did this happen?
THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS WAS SO INFORMATIVE.... I'll be heading to Sally's forever and ever amen❤
They say it damage hair but I found the only hair dye that gives me the most beautiful color and it's a box dye, I have tried Sally ones that they say are better quality but the color is always dark. Will it damage hair too much if I only dye grey hair roots every 3 months?
I had those box color on my hair for maximum time specified because I have resistant gray. It would burn my scalp and make scalp inflamed and even blister. I went to Sally and ask a rep there and she told me to use 30 vs 20 to help my resistant gray and it worked! I tried a few brands and finally found one that doesn’t inflamed my scalp and cover my grays well. Been doing it for a few year and got better at it. Still don’t like doing my roots but hate it less.
All u need us a 20 developer for grey hair. I been doing hair 25 years.
Thank you for not judging me lol and thank you for this video lol love u and your channel
Thanks for explaining this to easily understand the why..
So so helpful - thank you!
The color wash away , so I put just roots and com for 10 minutes easy , my hair are blond with gray , developer is 20 in a box
Great channel. Wish I would have found your channel before put this red in my hair. I have to go to a professional to get it taken out🤪
How can you tell what the volume of the developer is on the box?? Is it the "Level 3"?
Level 3 is the dark color
My hair is dark brown roots and blobde i want it all blonde what should i do
how about if you want to dye it jet black?? (naturally my hair is dark brown/black)
Go for it. Just know that if you want to go back light, it will be a long, expensive road.
No,don’t do it with box color! because then, if you go to remove it, you’ll end up ruining your hair. just go to Sally’s or order a color online with a 20 developer if you have gray hair. If you don’t have gray, then all you need is a 10 developer for black hair color.
I did a keratin treatment and it made my hair so smooth and a month later i dyed my hair at home and it is so dry now.. can you please suggest a hair mask that will make it smooth again?
If I only put permanent color on root area, can I use a semi permanent color on the rest at the same time?
Yes! That's what salons usually do!
So I have a darker brown box dye, I wanna go way lighter brown, any suggestion, then to bleach hair? Thanks!
You need to either grow out your natural or use a bleach lightener.
Ahh, one of the best videos on this topic only has 3.5k views. Only 2 dislikes is a W tho
Thanks!
Stop given wrong information on the developer volume in box dyes and stop making ppl afraid to buy box dye and save their money
