That's the problem with giving the player the main character's theme during the final battle. It boosts their will and strength. Kinda unfair for the boss tbh
Ill never forget my first time playing this fight. I had to save state before the fight cause he kept handing my ass to me. But man the rush i got when I finally started landing those hits and the music switches from that dreary despairing sound to Simons theme was exhilarating, nothing could stop me from smiting evil and darkness that night lol
One time I beat this guy and I was like "Yeah!" and then while the window was breaking and the cloud of bats was burning up, the timer ran out and I died. I had to do the entire goddamn battle over again.
I actually counted, Dracula takes 41 hits. That's a lot for a life bar with 16 bars of health. Bosses nowadays take a lot more hits, especially in Castlevania games that follow the "metroidvania" style that Symphony of the Night introduced. Bosses in those games take like 100 hits.
Knowing the plot of Castlevania 2 (Dracula uses his dieing breath to curse Simon with some vague death curse) I have to wonder if Super Castlevania 4 being easy was some kind of retroactive foreshadowing. Dracula luring Simon close to curse him, something he hasn't tried against the other Belmonts
TARINunit9 this game is easy right up until the last three bosses..bird thing, his demon friend right after then death...still can’t beat Dracula to this day, own on the switch now and still can’t beat it..
@@codyrisling1718 I had the same problem a couple months ago. This game stops fucking around at the very end. I ended up beating Dracula after 7 tries.
From 8-1 onwards there are some major Castlevania 3 level f-you beginners' traps and RNG, then Slogra near the end. Maybe they actually wanted people to see all their amazing effects and music this time rather than giving up on level 3 😁
I can always go back to the castlevania iv ost and learn something new. Not only did the sound team nail a difficult fusion genre but they also made it work in a horror themed action platformer. Simply stunning arrangements.
After playing through this game (which came after watching this weeks prior), it is amazing how hauntingly beautiful the song when fighting Dracula is.
Hello, thanks for the content. That was impressive. I never played this game until now 2024. It probably took me over 200 times to beat dracula. Great game.
I remember the first time I had ever seen this boss battle, my dad used to always play it a lot back when I was probably about maybe 5 to 8 years old (This was back in about 2009-2012) because before we got a Wii we had a SNES. I look at the game he was playing and I asked him "Hey dad, what game is this?" to which he had told me Castlevania 4. and at the time it took him about 2 months to beat the game. A few years later I attempt the game myself and I've gotten to the point where it first took me 2 weeks to beat it and now I'm able to finish the game in about an hour. To be honest, I lost count of how many times I defeated Dracula but if it wasn't for my dad I wouldn't have known about this amazing game. And I thank him a lot for it.
@2:57, something tells me that was Dracula giving him a parting gift that will curse him... And slowly kills him... Causing him to go on a quest... Castlevania 2...
This is a walk in the park compared to III. You have to beat 3 forms of Dracula and when you’re out of lives you get to play the whole level from the beginning again. One positive is that Castlevania III was the first game in the series I played. Afterwards all of the other classic games felt easier by comparison. Well, with one exception: Dracula X on SNES. That game is brutal and has no mercy.
@jamestanzra, what third form? I thought that this Dracula only has 2 forms. Also I think that is appropriate because getting hit in the head multiple times by the Vampire Killer must have destroyed his skin and flesh.
I never played this game until recently, I was like 15 when the Super Nintendo came out ...I'm 38 and trying to beat dracula. He's pretty tough, the lighting bolts seem so random and when you think you are between them, you still get hit. I had him down to two bars using the cross, but one bolt takes like hits from your life. I hate the flame faces and the lighting, so hard to avoid!
I dont get how you can jump so quickly after hitting the energy ball in the first 10 seconds of the fight... I try the same maneuver and the game never responds to my jump input
What the hell? My comment got cut off. I guess it was too long. What I meant to say was: Is his head the only part of him that is vampire. So is his body some indestructible entity that still provides contact damage but isn't vampire, but still attached to his vampire head?
Wish in Super Castlevania 4 Dracula Boss has evil laughs voices as it would've made this boss fight so interesting but otherwise such a very good game and snes system it is!
I was playing it yesterday on Switch and I was cursing AVGN for making me like this game. I played it though on the Wii Virtual Console years ago but I was struggling with it now on Switch so I started to use save scumming... I'm not proud but the game is ruthless towards the end. If the game is throwing cheap deaths at me, I'm not gonna tolerate them. And the bossfight against Death... That was rough.
what the?? so in the end dracula died when the window broke?? HAHA simon should bring a axe or hammer to break the window and kill dracula instantly LOLS
What I find weird is that Dracula only takes damage in the head. I mean it ups the challenge which I guess is good, but it doesn't make any sense. I mean it is called the Vampire Killer, and it is designed to kill vampires, so shouldn't it hurt Dracula everywhere? I guess he is the most powerful vampire ever, but come on!!! Isn't 41 hits from a weapon specifically designed to kill his kind enough? I mean what is his body if it can't take damage from the VAMPIRE KILLER??????? Is his head the onl
I died right during the ending bat animation because the timer ran out. I genuienly hate this game so much. They made it unnecessarily difficult to pad out the gameplay time, so gamers in the 90s would end up renting the game longer
Ao vencer o último drácula, quando o vitral quebra e aparece a luz, sobra um morcego que ao tocar no chão o personagem morre. O que aconteceu? É diferente do vídeo.
Castlevania III Dracula’s Curse was the hardest for me. I managed to beat Dracula and got away with a thread of my life. I’m pretty sure my character ended up in the Maestre’s chambers to heal, after that horrible battle. I used the default whip & triple shot daggers, which by the way, came across to me as a weak & inferior sub-weapon. It’s a hard battle, when you have to sort of “aim” and land them to his head in his 3rd & final form, while your dodging laser beams, and jumping floating platforms. I missed several times, because the controls on this game were stiff & laggy.
Wow. You are good. Can anyone offer me some advice on how to beat him? I am having problems avoiding his "hellfire" attack, at close range, he teleports where I am standing, and those fire demons are a pain, especially when dracula teleports where I am standing, If anyone can offer advise in these areas, then it would be greatly appreciated.

Dracula: Why do I hear boss music?
"And why is not mine?"
NICE
No! It cannot be! AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
NGL, This moment is so hype when Simon's theme kicks in
AS Dracula is resurrected so is the music from the beginning genius soundtrack
That's the problem with giving the player the main character's theme during the final battle. It boosts their will and strength. Kinda unfair for the boss tbh
Or you get too coxky thinking you got it in the bag and hastily make mistakes
Very easy compared to the first Castlevania NES
Yeah poor boss xD…
thanks for taking your time. that way I can jam to Simon's theme
Metroid Whisperer So true
Simon's theme is the best
It's the best theme ever in games.
This Dracula's Theme not Simons
Simon's Theme is my favorite videogame song of all time
I love how when you grab the orb, there‘s not the usual fanfare playing but this song that sound like a gigantic relief.

Wow bro. That's just harsh. Did ya need a new (anything) after that?
Same thing happened to me the first time I beat him, only the red orb had just spawned when the timer ran out 😂
@@leelduttis4086 same
God damn that was rough
I didn't even realize the timer kept going!
2:37 So fucking epic. Best Dracula death scene ever. That organ music is so chilling...
Yeah it's really epic. It goes from super triumphant to kind of depressing. How the final bat just slowly whithers and dies
This battle is so amazingly executed.
when he reaches his final form and simon’s theme kicks in it still gives me chills to this day.
The quick piano playing in the beginning while Dracula is giving everything he’s got is the best 1:43
This boss fight was hard as nails but man do you feel like a badass once you finally land the final hit.
When Simon's theme dropped for the rest of the fight, my 8 year old brain blew and I was ready to rock! lost 12 times, but that's not the point
That's one of the best music switches for a boss battle.

As soon as the theame from the courtyard started to play, it was as if Dracula knew he was fitting to get his ass whooped.
This boss is giving me such a hard time
Hello, thanks for the content. That was impressive. I never played this game until now 2024. It probably took me over 200 times to beat dracula. Great game.
Honest comment, mate. The whole stage took me more than an hour. Was playing it today on my SNES. One of the best Castlevania games by far.

I think this is the only castlevania where dracula only has 1 form
+ForteXX SP
Right ! lol
Alex Heine no. Dracula has one form in Belmont's Revenge and in Simon's Quest as well.
Dont Forget Order Of Ecclecia as well
he didnt need another, having fireballs that hit you on their way down AFTER you hit them is so far beyond cheap that it isnt even funny
That theme song was glorious
Its crazy how easy you make this look. I've been trying to beat this game nearly 30 years. And I'm so damn close. And just can't beat Dracula yet.
I mean maybe it's not for you
@@timohara7717 well I've beat it, so I guess it was for me. 🤣
The frustration is real
to SpaceGhost999:
He did make this look easy. It took me a long time to beat this game also. He must be a professional gamer.
You made the battle more epic than it already is.
This game requires some serious reflexes. I unfortunately have the reflexes of a sloth with a benadryl problem.
Bruh, it's got to be one of the most difficult side strollers ever....
0:25 was that a chicken leg?
i guess dracula wants KFC during final battle with belmont this time... ow0
@ 1:36 you know shit bout to get real :)
I wish he transformed like he did in the 1st Castlevania game
Well he does in the other SNES Castlevania game which that second Castlevania SNES game had positive and negatives thoughts!
if only this wasn't impossible.
Now, that's how you make a final boss.
I can't even beat him with 99 hearts, cross, and 3 power upgrade. Good job! I know this game is a bit easier than the original on nes, but fuck.
zzzhuh
Yeah. These Dracula battles are harsh. I and IV especially. I keep getting hung up on the fireheads

I would have added the additional 'challenge' of using the weak whip only
and after that...
you get a sweet awesome ending with little clips that you have beaten
I always hated that shrill high frequency squeal the game designer settled on for Dracula’s beam in noise. God, what a terrible choice.
It was worse in Bloodlines. Trust me.
Have you not heard the beam sound from atomic skeletons?
@@TrumpLesterI played CV : Bloodlines and there is bad sounding stuff in the game .
