I thought this fight was epic, much better than the original ending First the fact that you are still fighting what seems like Soma, but with Dracula's "Dance of Pales" theme playing, but you are somehow still hoping that Soma will wake up during some point, but when he transforms into Dracula's true form, you know there is no Soma anymore Or then again, Dracula was always Soma right? Still you know there is no way at this point, so you better kick his ass, or lose knowing that the character that you spent hours playing as moments before, will spend all your efforts screwing the world over completely
Hey, he only JUST became the Dark Lord! He hasn't even had time to grow in facial hair, the laugh should be in place properly by the time he comes back next time!
If Evil Soma ( Dracula ) were to actually use the abilities he gained in not only Dracula's original castle, but the souls he collected in the replica castle, hands down he would win. Why they belittle Dracula with basic attacks had always confused me. Thank god they did though, or I would have never beat the game, which is why i'm sure they did belittle his abilities.
That's the part where Lord of Shadow actually make it right. Gabriel Belmont/Dracula is unbeatable due to his feat and strength. Even his own son, Trevor (revived as Alucard) and Simon doesn't really measure up to him. On top of that, Satan don't even dare to lay his hand against Gabriel...

It's complicated because in Castlevania canon what makes Dracula, "Dracula", is the power of chaos. From the dialogue in Aria of Sorrow after beating Graham with the right souls, one can guess Soma is actually Mathias Cronqvist reincarnated as a free man with his own will (in fact, Ayami Kojima used the same draw lines from Mathias concept art for Soma's concept art). But to finish the explanation, according to Alucard's words in that same scene from Aria; if Soma (former Mathias) gets possessed by the power of chaos, he will become the evil count again.
