Watching the enemies being beaten with the Leather Whip and no subweapons instead of the Vampire Killer is quite amazing. It really lets you enjoy and appreciate the length of the battles, since some of them are extremely short and easy otherwise. Big thumbs up for that.
15:53 - "Hey, Belmont number five! I've been watching you... You know, for a human, you're doing pretty good; but I already filled my soul quota for today,so you can just go hom~ *HALLELUJAH* "
An interesting glitch happened the first time playing through the game. I was at the final battle with Dracula. When that purple beam thingie came onto the screen the first time, Dracula wasn't there. I was confused, seeing as his purple fireballs still rendered and were hazardous. The game indicated he was taking damage when I whipped at the tractor beam's position, so it was simply a visual hiccup. As soon as I figured that out, I'd fight him as he were visible. Only after Simon's theme started playing would Dracula become visible. It's as if Dracula was trying to toy around with me, the player by being invisible the first half the fight, but then gave up and decided to show his true form. Kinda wish this was an actual feature rather than a glitch. :\
Pretty much like Ganon in the original Zelda, shooting fireballs while staying invisible and teleporting around the room, or Ganon's "Technique of Darkness" in Link to the Past, which is already just meant to be a callback to the first Zelda. Among parallels to them as characters that already exist, that would have been cool if Dracula did essentially the same thing in this game. You got a pretty unique experience out of that glitch.
That happened to my little brother, as he was fighting Ser Vlad Tepes. The game cartridge was probably a bit dirty. My little brother was like “ Hey!!!! Where the heck did he go? “. I then told him: “ You keep fighting him!!!! He’s still there!!! He’s going Predator on you, to see if he can fool you. Never give up your fight, just because he’s playing mind tricks with you. “
I was 4 years old when Super Castlevania 4 came out on the SNES back in 1991! This is such a great classic game! But even I'm not as good as this dude is beating every boss with no damage & using the original weak whip!! Damn!! LOL

I use to play this game alot and I enjoyed it...some of those songs sounded really good on bass speakers...especially the last boss dracula...when those candles start lighting up...awesome game
I was wondering why he wasnt using sub weapons Then I remembered you can kill medusa in like half a second with triple crosses That wouldn't show off the bosses very well
Congratulations, I noticed you upgraded the whip at slogra...it would've taken forever to beat him and all the rest of the bosses ESPECIALLY Dracula with the leather one. So, nice work.
For me, it's a tie between this one and SOTN. I do love the nostalgia, though. I'd love to see play throughs of Castlevania I, II, and III. Those were the shit.
CV 4 is a really dated game with unfair challenges, unbalanced difficulty and awkward graphics/music, I much prefer rondo of blood and cv 3 when it comes to classic castlevania
I will never understand why SOTN went back to the UP+Attack combo for using subweapons when the PS controller literally has TWICE as many shoulder buttons as the SNES controller. This one design flaw deeply tarnished what would have otherwise been a near-perfect game.
This game had the best bosses ever. The two-headed dragon, the tongue-skull, that awesome blue/red gargoyle, the Grim Reaper, Frankenstein, and of course Dracula.

Not bad! About the only one I have trouble with in pulling off a no-damage victory against is Slogra, because sometimes he decides to fight like a cheap-ass & try to sneak in hits before I can react/get far enough away (sometimes the instant he lands), let alone get turned around to face him. I can, however, offer a quick tip for dealing with Dracula: when he's into the phase of the fight where he starts to summon the "flaming faces" to attack you, you can take them out rather quickly. Wait until they're nearly finished forming (about 2 seconds), then jump & snap the whip at an upward angle. You'll kill one as soon as it finishes forming (it'll fall harmlessly into the floor directly below it), and for the other one, step towards it so it drifts down & begins to pass over your head (while still above you), then snap the whip straight up, as it starts to pass overhead (but don't let it get behind you). Most of the time it'll fall to the floor behind you, since it can't change direction in time. Or if one is still on-screen (which means Drac only conjures one more to augment the other one), repeat the first step (wait until it's almost fully formed, then nail it with a [jumping] upward-angle whip strike before it can move).
That cursed spinning gear in mist area, the damned Slogra battle & the rest of final stage bosses. And people said this is easiest classic Castlevania.

Gosh. I remember this scaring me so bad when I was little. Yet something kept pushing me to go deeper and beat it. That's a sign of an amazing game.
Konami put out awesome games in the 90s.
I like how there is one last bat that survives for a little while in the last battle; that is likely how Dracula cursed Simon.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster did it, of course.
