Yep. That's right. However, the so called "money glitch" (use Google) don't work in the PSP/PS3/PS4/PS5 versions. You will not be able to buy the $500.000 Duplicator (search Google) easily. You'll have to do some money farming, if possible. 😉
Always appreciate the effort you put in, I can tell it’s a lot harder to show your own footage. Much more effort than just reading a glitches list off a wiki. Keep up the great work.
I actually never knew the Shield Rod/Alucard Shield combo was unintended, I always assumed it was intended that it dealt ridiculous damage if things came in contact with you.
Although I admitedly already knew all of these because I'm a sotn nerd myself, the video was reeeeeally well presented, and really well explained, with easy to understand inputs, terms and graphical queues. This might've inspired some casuals to learn more about the game, even if it's not to actually "speedrun" it. I myself don't actually speedrun it, but these techniques come really handy after you beat the game several times like me, but can't stay away from the game XD. Great work!!
I've literally played through this game at least once since it was released in the united states, it IS the best castlevania of all time and I honestly wish they would've made it so much bigger, the castle now seems so small even with the inversion
For clarification, for those who arent Street Fighter fans, @22:55, this direction conbination is in one sweeping/sliding motion and should only take a fraction of a second, so practice and do it quickly.
This video has been popping up in my feed for a few weeks. It's 6:00am and I've been up all night but had to watch it this time. Castlevania: SotN is my favorite game of all time. I have every iteration of the game you mentioned in the video and was about fifteen years old when it was released. I bought it for the original PlayStation with money I earned mowing grass. I think I also purchased Tekken 3 and Final Fantasy VII around that same timeframe. What a time for gaming man. For me, SotN is the best all around gameplay/soundtrack combination and I know what kind of bold statement that is with the likes of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Mario, Sonic, all the other Castlevania games and many more. I had no idea about some of these glitches and this has prompted me to start a new playthrough ASAP. I've always known of the luck code and not getting hit in the first battle as Richter. I can't wait to keep Alucard's gear! Thanks so much. What an amazing video for my favorite game.
This game means so much to me and my siblings and seeing this kind of content for our gem is the best. Thanks for putting this well edited and great video together. Easily one of the best videos I have watched on UA-cam.
Pretty good explanation for the beginner. Very clear and detailed. I’m sure you may know, but more glitches and ways to beat the game have been demonstrated by DragonBlitz, the foremost speed runner of the game, using both 360 and PSX versions. Some glitches you could cover next time (that DragonBlitz always does) are RSL Death Skip via Neutron Bomb/Level Up, Summon Spirit/Level Up, and Heart Refresh; zipping through the floor of the Long Library and use Wing Smash chain to exit the LL, or even the potion invincibility to pass through the spikes to get to Maria for the Silver Ring (used in 200.6% speedruns). Just in case you have more advanced players watch your video 😊
Thanks to this video, I've finally got my answer to my long ago question, "HOW TF DID I GET TO THE INVERTED CASTLE WITHOUT THE HOLY GLASSES!". I've played this game with my brother when we little kids, in the early 2000s. We thought we finally beaten the game, but didn't know where to use the fricking gold and silver ring, not knowing that it was supposed to be equipped in the clock room in the marble gallery, not in the CLOCK TOWER map. Then one day I tried fighting Richter again, but instead of a fight, Maria walked in and I went to the other room and went to the inverted castle. We didn't have access to the internet back then to consult other people on how we did this, and even when I got to use the internet to ask on neoseeker, No one had an answer for me. Again, Thanks to this video for finally giving me an answer to my childhood question!!!
Here's another glitch for you to reach 201.1% of progress (A few save rooms that were discarded from the game, but they didn't deleted them, and I see no much people know about them) [Make sure to copy this in another part to not lose it when you click the time tag :) ] BIBLE INCOMIIIIIIING Requires Basically the Relic Skip (22:05) items and knowledge: -Minimum 2 Heart Refreshes (One in each hand) -Duplicator -Library card Now do: - Go to the beginning of the map in the entrance, the very first room where we start the game. - Calculate the same way of the video the part where the camera start following Alucard in the entrance of the next room, and walk a one or two steps away of the room (The camera should move just a little, not necesary to be just a pixel). You must be looking in the opposite direction of the door - Now Backward dash one time and inmediately after pressing that button, press any of the heart refresh you have equiped. It will pause the movement with the animation, but you will still be moving after it. -While the animation is on, activate the other hand Heart refresh, It won't summon inmediately, but once the first is over, you will see how you go back one or two frames, and it will activate the next animation. And while that animation is on, activate the other one, and so until you see the camera doesn't move anymore, but you can do it a few more times to be sure. -After that, let the backward dash animation finish, If you did it correctly, make another backward dash, and instead of going to the next room, you should be falling inside the ground. -Once you managed to do that, convert to bat, make sure to be on the bottom, and right there, fly to the next room. -This will make you go between the two rooms multiple times (Basically this will happen there 23:47), you try to press Left so you should appear again below of the ground in the first room -But now, you will press Left and you will be able to move very slow like this 23:43 -And voilá, after flying a little, you will be in what seems like a glitched save room. You can save there, there's no problem, is just a visual giltch. The next room is just a little cave that goes up, and when you reach the top, you will be under the initial spot where you start the game, where there's a stoned Trapdoor that opens automatically when you touch it, and you will be back in the normal map So, you might be wondering: "what is the library card for?". It's for the inverted castle version, since thar trapdoor is totally sealed, once you enter, you can't exit other way than that. And the process is almost the same with a little one difference I'll explain: -Same process of the Backward dash & ♥Refresh, but in the buttom of the screen (The roof) -Once you make sure it worked, go back up (as a bat or however) just before entering the room and do a backward dash in the opposite direction, you should fall inside the wall instead of going to the next room. -Now transform to bat, go up over the top of the screen (Your wings should be slightly seen), and go to the opposite room, the game will make this hell again 23:47. And press Right to end in the first room again, but over the top this time. -Now the difficult part :). Go to the right, but you must stop in a very specific point. You will be seeing a little of your wings over the top of the screen, the ground, and right under it, some (I think It's called) shrubberies (I don't speak eng, srry!), two bigs, and a lot of small ones, the first big near of the castle beginning, next to a lot of smalls, and then the other big one. You will fly right before reaching the second big one. (A little further could cause to fail, and even further you will just see the room, but won't enter, you will be pushed back) -Once in the place, Wing Smash a few times (I think 2 or 3 are enough) and you will appear inside the room, but it's reversed, so you will be falling, so after the wing smash you will be transform automatically back to Alucard, so transform again to bat, and that's all, you will be able to fly around that reversed cave and the save room (That again, will look glitched, but you can save ther just for the merit) -Finally, and as I said, you will be trapped there because the exit is blocked by lines of code XD. So use the library card to go back safe to the normal castle Aaaaaand that's all, thanks for your patience ^_^
Kudos to you for the format of this video, I love retro game (SOTN is one of my favorites) and watching all this glitches was very entertaining, I think your explanations were on point and really descriptive for what was happening. The Reverse Shift Line + Wing Smash for the Relic Skip was amazing
There is a second version of the infinite money glitch, and it's fairly easy to pull off. It also can be done even if you've previously spoken to the Librarian. You'll need the following; Sword Card, Max 50mp or more, and of course a jewel to sell. The Sword Card is hidden in Olrox's Chambers. Go to the Librarian's room and get as close to him as you can before triggering the shop menu. Have the Sword Card active, then do the command for the spell "Sword Brothers". [ D DR R UR U (hold a second) D+Attack ]. As the spell executes and the sword yells "Gather Brother Soul Blades" while spinning and making afterimages, enter the shop. You can test if it worked by opening your sub-screen while in the shop. If you can, it worked. The rest of the glitch is exactly the same as if you used the Fairy. EDIT: One more thing, it can be done on your first playthough, though sadly the Duplicator won't be available for purchase.
Clicked on this expecting to get the "map completion" and other well-known glitches and instead got an exhaustive way to exploit and cheat the entire game. How have I played this game countless times for literally 25 years and NEVER heard of any of this?? lol Thanks for an amazing video!
Fantastic video! It's a little bit of a bummer that the Sword Brothers OOB glitch wasn't touched on, because that was the very first glitch I ever learned as a kid and it's still my favorite to this day!
Love the explanation more than the glitches, and how you put the exciting song right after you finally get in the save room. The coders and developers should check your channel often.
Yeah but you only get it in endgame. The Chakra is where it's really at cuz you can get it relatively early in the first castle from the discus lord in the catacombs.
A day when I poop is an absolutely amazing day !! Oh, you don't believe me ? How do you feel when you hold it in too long ?? ..... Yeah, that's what I thought.
Man.. I can't even begin to think about how many hours were needed to figure this stuff out. Very cool. Have to say though... SOTN is a God tier game! Spent many the months trying to beat it, and roaming around aimlessly. haha The good old days of no internet!
The game don't take long to finish, the map is not that big(its very stange that you were wondering aimlessly)..on a causal play,it generally takes 7-10hiurs to complete both castles.
Wow...I have played and beaten Castlevania Symphony of The Night many, many times. I have had my copy of Symphony of The Night since 1998 and I have many other versions of it as well. I knew about the Death skip and while I have done it before...I just can't bring myself to really use it. Every time I start a new game I just want to enjoy the combat and exploration but these other glitches are very interesting indeed. I will be trying them tonight on my original PSX copy while I play on a PS3 to ensure everything works. As far as the Richter battle skip, wouldn't it be easier to fly over the block as the bat? Have you tried this before? You know what...I bet the bat form is to big vertically and probably clips the invisible block. I may try with the bat and see if I can trigger the battle skip tonight. This video was absolutely fantastic! You have just taught this old dog some new tricks and I can't wait to try them. I'll still playthrough in a semi-normal fashion but I'm going to try all kinds of wall skippery while I'm at it. ;)
This game just dripped with style, and will forever stand as one of the pillars against any argument claiming that 3D is inherently superior to 2D; to say nothing of the incredible gameplay! Watching your great video about all the glitches I never knew about as a kid has been a joy, kudos!
I read this comment before getting that far into the video, so if I hadn't already played these games you would have been the one to casually spoil the twist :p
I bought this the moment it release on PS1, what a masterpiece. The weird part is when I got home the disk inside the case said Castlevaina, but it was some sort of pc cd rom. I took it back and exchanged it for a real ps1 game. To this day I wish I would have figured out what the hell it was, but I was just a kid and didn't think to keep it.
I have never known that box before the castle top for ending check ! It is amazing to see such old classic still has cool followups like this! (I am not a TAS/speedrun guy)
Mist form is so complicated and confusing, I'm not sure I'll ever understand what it's for 😔 If only the game would ever tell me where it could pass... perhaps over and over... with an incessant pop-up...
I remember I used to exploit the mist into wolf transformation to reach higher places but never occurred to do the drop kick without thinking it was an exploit at that time haha, great video
I love this game, because I imagine that Alucard's character/abilities are from a completely different game. He is so OP in SoTN, it's like having the Quake-guy with the rocket/rail all that and playing in Halo.... you'd be a complete unstoppable wrecking machine....like Alucard in SoTN
OMG I FREAKING DID EVERYTHING! It took quite a few tries, but not as many as I thought it would. So incredibly fun trying this out and not as hard as it looks one bit. Just a bit of patience and practice. Thanks for this and I love watching all your vids!
Dude, when you started showing the Luck code at the start I thought "no big deal, pretty sure I know every single glich in this video". But at the end, you earned a new subscriber.
One of my favorite glitches i found on gamefaqs as a kid is the sword familiar sword dance glitch, where in certain areas you could just fall of the border of the room transition and explore outside the castle, you could do that for a lot of spots of the map, getting something like 200.6% map completion in the end, it was really fun to pull off
I just did the Relic Skip with just one Wing Smash. I turned into bat as you said, but I hold up for less than a second to "unstuck" myself from the ceiling and recover normal bat speed still out of bounds. Then I used Wing Smash only once while holding up left. When Alucard was forced into human form again I was between the two rooms. Kept holding up left until I got dropped into the save room. I wish I had recorded it, but I assure you it worked.
Technically you only need to be in a Wing Smash while transitioning into the Save Room. The problem is that you have no idea where the transition is from the room below, so its simpler to just Wing Smash the entire length. You're not wrong though.
@@PhobiaSoft Upon further testing I found out that doing the Wing Smash right above the clock left to the golden clock in the center of the room is 100% consistent. (Also found out that the "unstucking" I mentioned earlier was an accidental Wing Smash lol)
Awesome glitches Phobia, tragically I lost my copy of this awesome game many years ago, however it was a blast to play, truly a privilege to have, thanks for the memories!
Discovered your channel and am loving all your videos! Would you possibly be interested in a video on metroid prime? That game is full of crazy glitches
I'm not one to try glitches a lot but this is crazy amazing. Not surprised someone found these exploits in a 25 year old game. I remember buying SotN at Babbage's the year it was released.
To be fair, i already knew about the Death Glitch because it allows Alucard to keep all of his gear, making the game easier. The reason why this exploit can only work in Luck Mode is because all other stats are at the lowest level while the luck stat is at max level. Not to mention that if you over level up, your defense will be too high, the warg wolf will be unable to launch you past the cutscene. Based on my many playthroughs, the safest level to still do the exploit is at level 6. Any higher, and you won't be able to do the Death Skip. Also in case anyone was wondering, yes, you can still do it in the Dracula X Chronicles port of SOTN on PSP. All other glitches are possible.
Cool, I’ve heard about some of these glitches. However, I’ve never seen a concise guide on how to perform them. Some of these glitches I have never heard of. Good stuff.
As much as i LOVE this game, i havent done many glitches for it, but its still entertaining to see others do them. Thanks for uploading such informative video!!!

Here's another glitch for you to reach 201.1% of progress (A few save rooms that were discarded from the game, but they didn't deleted them, and I see no much people know about them)
[Make sure to copy this in another part to not lose it when you click the time tag :) ]
BIBLE INCOMIIIIIIING
Requires Basically the Relic Skip (22:05) items and knowledge:
-Minimum 2 Heart Refreshes (One in each hand)
-Duplicator
-Library card
Now do:
- Go to the beginning of the map in the entrance, the very first room where we start the game.
- Calculate the same way of the video the part where the camera start following Alucard in the entrance of the next room, and walk a one or two steps away of the room (The camera should move just a little, not necesary to be just a pixel). You must be looking in the opposite direction of the door
- Now Backward dash one time and inmediately after pressing that button, press any of the heart refresh you have equiped.
-This will make you go between the two rooms multiple times (Basically this will happen there 23:47), you try to press Left so you should appear again below of the ground in the first room
-But now, you will press Left and you will be able to move very slow like this 23:43
-And voilá, after flying a little, you will be in what seems like a glitched save room. You can save there, there's no problem, is just a visual giltch. The next room is just a little cave that goes up, and when you reach the top, you will be under the initial spot where you start the game, where there's a stoned Trapdoor that opens automatically when you touch it, and you will be back in the normal map
So, you might be wondering: "what is the library card for?". It's for the inverted castle version, since thar trapdoor is totally sealed, once you enter, you can't exit other way than that. And the process is almost the same with a little one difference I'll explain:
-Same process of the Backward dash & ♥Refresh, but in the buttom of the screen (The roof)
-Once you make sure it worked, go back up (as a bat or however) just before entering the room and do a backward dash in the opposite direction, you should fall inside the wall instead of going to the next room.
(A little further could cause to fail, and even further you will just see the room, but won't enter, you will be pushed back)
-Once in the place, Wing Smash a few times (I think 2 or 3 are enough) and you will appear inside the room, but it's reversed, so you will be falling, so after the wing smash you will be transform automatically back to Alucard, so transform again to bat, and that's all, you will be able to fly around that reversed cave and the save room (That again, will look glitched, but you can save ther just for the merit)
-Finally, and as I said, you will be trapped there because the exit is blocked by lines of code XD. So use the library card to go back safe to the normal castle
Aaaaaand that's all, thanks for your patience ^_^
The infinite money glitch can also be done with the sword familiar, but of course you do get that later in the game.
The sword brothers glitches could basically be their own video, since it branches into map glitches and such too.
26:08 just like Soma in the castle's throne on Aria of Sorrow. I can hear that unforgettable scene's music!
very well put together. nice explanations, I feel like I could do it myself after a few attempts at each. you sir, got my like
Clicked on this expecting to get the "map completion" and other well-known glitches and instead got an exhaustive way to exploit and cheat the entire game. How have I played this game countless times for literally 25 years and NEVER heard of any of this?? lol Thanks for an amazing video!
Everything about this video is so well done and informative. Thank you for keeping it so concise yet engaging!
Fantastic video! It's a little bit of a bummer that the Sword Brothers OOB glitch wasn't touched on, because that was the very first glitch I ever learned as a kid and it's still my favorite to this day!
Yes this was an old glitch i have tried and confirmed myself that made me able to go beyond 200% on my save file
Love the explanation more than the glitches, and how you put the exciting song right after you finally get in the save room.
The coders and developers should check your channel often.
One of my all time favorite games. A timeless classic.
amazing, i'm always thinking (after those videos) who take the time to discover such glitches
Of course let us not forget Crissagrim, the biggest non-exploit exploit in existence.
I never found that weapon during the time I had the game, truly unfortunate!
Yeah but you only get it in endgame. The Chakra is where it's really at cuz you can get it relatively early in the first castle from the discus lord in the catacombs.
Till this day this game still has me in aww. It just one of those classics you keep coming back to!
Thanks for vid!
A day when Phobia uploads is a good day
A day when I poop is an absolutely amazing day !! Oh, you don't believe me ? How do you feel when you hold it in too long ?? .....
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Terrific video! One of the best I've seen on the subject, very clear and easy to follow. I look forward to trying these again now, so thank you!
The best game, the best story, the best ost of MY LIFE!
This is what the Internet was made for, freaking love finding these gems of videos
Man.. I can't even begin to think about how many hours were needed to figure this stuff out. Very cool. Have to say though... SOTN is a God tier game! Spent many the months trying to beat it, and roaming around aimlessly. haha The good old days of no internet!
oh man i can still remember the struggle to reach max level. the grind is real. also trying to get crissaegrim.
The game don't take long to finish, the map is not that big(its very stange that you were wondering aimlessly)..on a causal play,it generally takes 7-10hiurs to complete both castles.
man this video is so great that the details is so well, keep it up bro
Great video Phobia looking forward to more.
I'll still playthrough in a semi-normal fashion but I'm going to try all kinds of wall skippery while I'm at it. ;)
Great Vid :)
Was about to make a suggestion for you to do a reaction of this vid in one of your muramasa runs. 😅
Thanks Blitz!! Your videos were a big help in conducting research for this game, happy to have given some entertainment back!
26:11 = "I have witnessed....PERFECTION"
~Meatvalley or something, maybe, probably
Hands down the greatest game of that console generation
Absolutely. My fave videogame ever.
This game just dripped with style, and will forever stand as one of the pillars against any argument claiming that 3D is inherently superior to 2D; to say nothing of the incredible gameplay! Watching your great video about all the glitches I never knew about as a kid has been a joy, kudos!
Simply AMAZING! Great video!
This is the best explanation of SOTN glitches I've ever seen. Thank you.
Years later I'm still learning something new in this game
This video deserves more likes and views! Awesome video man! Thanks
Fantastic job!!!!
I couldn’t stop watching!
Mind was blown!
"I am the Dark Priest called Shaft" Me: "You're damned right!!!!"........lmfao :P
I can't believe you would just casually spoil that Arikado is Alucard! It's one of, if not THE biggest twists in gaming!!!
😈
25 years late
@@RhizometricReality It's only been 19 years! Don't make me older than I am :,(
I read this comment before getting that far into the video, so if I hadn't already played these games you would have been the one to casually spoil the twist :p
@@gabbagoo9774 release date, March 20, 1997.
March 20th 1997 was 25 years, 7 months and 16 days ago
I bought this the moment it release on PS1, what a masterpiece. The weird part is when I got home the disk inside the case said Castlevaina, but it was some sort of pc cd rom. I took it back and exchanged it for a real ps1 game. To this day I wish I would have figured out what the hell it was, but I was just a kid and didn't think to keep it.
Great vid on glitches, easy to understand as well.
thanks for Amazing video
i did the leap stone skip too but wolf + dive kick and jump to platform.
also with clock too with timing.
I hope Castlevania gets rebooted for PS5 / XBOX / Ect...
Same
I have never known that box before the castle top for ending check ! It is amazing to see such old classic still has cool followups like this! (I am not a TAS/speedrun guy)
Earned a sub from me; this is amazing
Straight to the point and informative the entire time! Well edited and very entertaining 👏
New Phobia video got me like 🥵
and also, how the heck does mist can pass?
Mist form is so complicated and confusing, I'm not sure I'll ever understand what it's for 😔 If only the game would ever tell me where it could pass... perhaps over and over... with an incessant pop-up...
I've a question! Why do we need the wolf to jump past the invisible ending check box when we can just fly over it with the bat?
The bat is too big!
More phobia content? Yes please
Great video. Great production. Non irritating voice. Subbed.
Alucard isn't Soma. He's Arikado.
No, WE are Soma when we meet him again :P
@@PhobiaSoft Ha! I had to listen to it again to realize it had that meaning too. English is a funny language. My apologies
@@Op_Intrude-N313 Its all good! I was actually a little worried that it might be misinterpreted that way, but it was too late to change it 😅
@@PhobiaSoft Tbh it is confusing. I thought you were implying he's Soma as well, until I read this comment. I'd just cut the "as Soma" part out.
This was such a well made video. One of my favorite bands is called Phobia and I also love Castlevania so UA-cam suggested it
Book jump is too hard
17:15 me expecting an actual answer... actual answer was to press the gas but harder now. 🤣
CASTLEVANIAAA
I remember I used to exploit the mist into wolf transformation to reach higher places but never occurred to do the drop kick without thinking it was an exploit at that time haha, great video
elden ring when????
When you make it. So hurry up.
Elden Ring just got a new patch this week, so covering it is still really difficult, but I'm looking into it
@@drago28 w h a t ?
Amazing video. Such detail and glitches/skips that I haven't known of and this is my favorite game.
Such a great video bro loved it
Dude, when you started showing the Luck code at the start I thought "no big deal, pretty sure I know every single glich in this video". But at the end, you earned a new subscriber.
Never played but your walkthrough with the glitches keeps it entertaining. I hope this video gains some traction
The luck name 'glitch' can also be used in Rondo of Blood, it opens up every level, letting you skip right to Dracula
So.. just curious, why can't you just fly over the Richter invis-block glitch with the bat? Does the wing clip the box? Why specifically the wolf?
The bat is too tall
One of my favorite glitches i found on gamefaqs as a kid is the sword familiar sword dance glitch, where in certain areas you could just fall of the border of the room transition and explore outside the castle, you could do that for a lot of spots of the map, getting something like 200.6% map completion in the end, it was really fun to pull off
I like how this is laid out like a playthrough. Most glitch videos just jump from glitch to glitch with not much of an order to them
I just did the Relic Skip with just one Wing Smash.
When I first jump into the wolf I always blocked on the wall, I can't even passed through death. Pls give me some tip
Awesome glitches Phobia, tragically I lost my copy of this awesome game many years ago, however it was a blast to play, truly a privilege to have, thanks for the memories!
Just came across your channel and I dig it, great work.
Discovered your channel and am loving all your videos! Would you possibly be interested in a video on metroid prime? That game is full of crazy glitches
I would absolutely cover Metroid Prime one day, I love that game. I still need to do Zero Mission and Dread as well.
No way, i've never thought you will upload about Castlevania SotN.
Great Content, keep it up!!
Its a fantastic game!
I'm not one to try glitches a lot but this is crazy amazing. Not surprised someone found these exploits in a 25 year old game. I remember buying SotN at Babbage's the year it was released.
Which version lets you just back dash real quick to skip death because that’s what I remember doing last.
That's the Dracula X Chronicles version.
This was dope. You made short work of one of the greatest games of all time with these glitches.
Cool, I’ve heard about some of these glitches. However, I’ve never seen a concise guide on how to perform them. Some of these glitches I have never heard of. Good stuff.
Talking AND showing these is fantastic! 10/10 video! Thank you.
As much as i LOVE this game, i havent done many glitches for it, but its still entertaining to see others do them.
Thanks for uploading such informative video!!!
