I remember turning to a friend who was there with me and saying "I think this is George Harrison." He shrugged his shoulders becasue that didn't mean anything to him. But to me, it was just pure gold. Stayed til the end of the song and didn't want the song to stop. Went out and searched for it, but the only thing I could find at Tower Records was the incredibly horrible soundtrack to the film which had an utterly forgettable Clapton cover of Knockin' on Heavens Door and an embarassing Beach Boys song that was all Mike and zero Brian (never a good thing). I remember liking the film at the time. . .then I happened upon it about 15 years later on TV and found it almost completely unwatchable. The song was released years later on a "Best of GH Vol 2" collection. Cheer Down is still my fav post-ATMP song by George [and there are a LOT of good songs he wrote after 1970]. In my opinion, this counts as the BEST solo-Beatle recording that almost nobody ever heard of. At least that's the impression I have when I speak with most people who are familiar with the Beatles. They all know Imagine, My Sweet Lord, Gimme Some Truth, Band on the Run, Handle With Care, Jet, It Don't Come Easy, etc. Most have never even heard of this song. . .which is strange as this has nearly 2.5 mil views.
