Good job, you don't need to remove the motor to that service. Also you forgot to check/service the metal axle at the end of the brush roll. A lot of jambs happen there.
Thanks for posting this, I would have never thought that the great Dyson would have such an Achilles heel. I have 2 units that were jammed up like this and now they both work like new.
You are an absolute star! Almost bought a new hoover as I could not get my Dyson V6 to work. Thanks to your video I managed to follow and mine now works!! Thank you!
THANK YOU!! Your explanation and demonstration is just perfect! Showing us all the ins/outs of how it works, why it works to properly cleaning the pull out filter! You are a good human! 🙏 Eternality grateful!
You made me feel like a genius! You also saved me a boat load of money!!! I was ready to buy a new Dyson thinking that was it for my 8 year old vacuum. I had already tried the old tricks to make it work to no avail. This was so easy to understand. My only difference was needing a small "star" screw driver for electronics for the motor shaft which I ordered to receive overnight from Amazon. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Brilliant. The only issue was mine has 7 screws not 8, I thought I had lost one until I compared your Dyson head with mine! My drive belt had started to come off and jammed the mechanism, soon put back on. I didn't know this was accessible until I saw your video. Thanks.
You just help me fix a 6 years old V6 and save 75€ for a new brush. Just spent 10€ on screwdrivers. No hairs stucked on my case, i just blew some WD40 grease on the inside the spin under the shaft and now it's working!
It's taken me two days due to having to order the T screwdrivers from Amazon but I did it and lo and behold it actually works now! It's now running much better than it has done for the past God knows how many years, so thank you so much for this video. Just one thing, the T10 screwdriver wouldn't remove the screw from the spindle so I had to use a T9. Still, it works and I'm chuffed!
4:25 Thanks for this tip! I was able to get this apart easily without twisting it by undoing each clip with a very small flathead screwdriver from under the rim.
Thanks for such an easy to follow, informative video. Have just been able to resurrect my 'Non Spinning' brushbar on my fairly ancient, original DC59. Happy days 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! I had just replaced the battery on my V6Flexi when the brushbar started behaving just like this. I was looking around for a new motorhead as my usual cleaning didn't fix the problem. Ridiculous price if you can find one as it looks like this model might be on the way out. Anyway, watched your video and decided to give it a go as it was next to useless as it was. So happy now as it works really well again and hopefully will keep going for quite a while.
Does what it says on the tin!! Great vid. I was reluctant to try to get the drive off although this was last place to look for problem. BUT your enthusiasm and demo sent me off to try again and hey presto, spinning like a good 'un. Thank you :)
Thank you, I was on the right track. At first I thought the belt was defective. But I wouldn't have thought of this wheel with the screw inside. 😮 Greetings from Germany.
Hi for the DC59 you need a T7 screwdriver for the motor screw. But these instructions were excellent really easy to follow and saved me a lot. Thank you
Thanks a million. My issue turned out to be a broken wire to the motor, probably due to excess turning that was in turn due to that tilt-stop mechanism not working due to being jammed up with fluff. I've re soldered it and will see if it lasts.
Great video, enabled me to disassemble the brush head and get to the drive rotor that was seized. In my case not by hair but I think accumulated dirt inside the bearing. A few good squirts of WD40 front and back fixed the problem.
Great vid, fixed mine! Small warning, WD-40 is *not* a lubricant, do not use it here! Rather it is a solvent, meaning it will dissolve any dirt, but will also dissolve the existing lubricant!
Thanks. For me after pulling out the hairs, the spindle still wouldn’t turn freely until I used WD40. Now it spins like crazy. What would you suggest I use to lubricate it once the WD40 has dried?
@@graydrever1927 I'm guessing that during manufacture they use some sort of dry lubricant. I'm not sure what would be a good replacement. As a guess, perhaps a small amount of bicycle chain lube might be suitable (not chain *oil*, that's too thin and messy).
When our front door lock was getting difficult to remove the key, a locksmith told me not to use WD40 and he recommended GT85 which worked a treat, so I'm going to use that. I believe it's made by the same people who make WD40.
Thank you for your video! I followed all your instructions and the brushed turned brilliantly. However, as soon as I put all the coverings back on it wouldn't spin at all. Any ideas what else it could be?
Thanks for video is very helpful I have DC59 animal I have opened it with your help and taken out the screw from drive shaft but can’t take out drive shaft
Also check at the base where the ball joint connects the head. Turns out my cable had broken in half inside there, little bit fiddle but managed to solder it back together. Works fine now
That's cool, thank you, my problem is the pins on the brush head connector have badly corroded, you can't replace them, and really different to get anything in there to clean them.
Great video = thought i'd cleaned mine out properly but there was su much hair behind the drive "gear" Saved me £300 on a new one which I can now spend on tools and beer!
Thanks so much Great video Concisely explained and dead simple to understand As you suggested to get it spinning freely I used WD40 and it worked wonders. Once it dissolves I’ll look for a replacement lubricant. Any ideas? You saved me a lot of time and money
Thank you, I cleaned and fixed as you mentioned. Even though it’s still not working properly. It’s getting stuck as the begginjngbof the video . Not sure what to do🥺
Very helpful vdo I have dc59 animal I have taken out shaft screw but take out drive shaft Sprayed wd40 as well Doesn’t look like that it comes out Not sure what to do
Try cleaning all the metal contacts where the wand connects to the floortool, the main unit and behind the bin - if you remove the bin you can clean the contacts behind it and from the main unit behind it too
I prefer the v6 over the new Dysons , the new dysons break so fast, I gave my v6 to my dad and he still loves it to this day, I bought a fluffy head for it since otherwise the main floor bits useless for hard floors
They’re quite reliable aren’t they! They’re approaching 10 years old now, and apart from the battery they just keep on working like new with good motors! If they have the direct drive heads those last way longer than the flat DC59/V6 Animal floortools
Yes the v6 we had must be about 7 or 8 years old, haven’t had to replace the battery on it yet but I think it’s approaching that time since it lasts a couple of seconds in max mode. It’s had new filters , and the cyclone has been taken apart and cleaned. But it still works brilliant like day 1
@@max_dottie Interesting! Has max mode been used much on it? I’ve heard of someone who had a Dyson V6 for 7 years without a battery replacement because they never used boost mode, quite cool!
@@parwaz7861 yes most likely it was used on max mode quite a bit as the suction isn’t the best without the floor head, I found you had to use max mode on particularly dirty car mats
@@parwaz7861going back to this , I think the battery has failed completely as I’ve just used and in 5 mins there was a red light appeared on the battery , i have put it on charge and hopefully it gives me a few more uses 😂
Hello. What size torx head do you use please? I have a very hairy mrs and very hairy cats. I’m guessing it’s them that have disabled my hoover :) Ps. Great video. Thank you.
More to than this , i have come to the conclusion that there is a design flaw in the overload circuit , it cuts in to quick .I have tries 2 brush bars one the same as the video and a new smaller one it still cuts out , release the trigger and restart and it spines again .It has good battery life and works fine with non motor attachments
Good job, you don't need to remove the motor to that service. Also you forgot to check/service the metal axle at the end of the brush roll. A lot of jambs happen there.
You’re right! Thanks for sharing those tips!
Just about to mention the spindle clean, same thing happened to mine. Great video thank you
