Thanks for this! Even though ours is a different model - I'd originally watched a heap of other videos from other channels about possible causes and fixes - but none worked. After watching all of those and trying every suggestion, I came to the conclusion that the motor had burned out or died somehow. But after stumbling upon your video, I decided to work out how to completely dismantle the head (I'd only gone half-way previously, as I couldn't work out how to get some of the sections apart... yet) and follow the red and black wires. Sure enough, I traced them down to a hidden section behind where the head and stick bend, where the red wire was in fact broken. So my next step will be to solder it back together and hopefully - thanks to your video - it will be working again!
Thank you for this tutorial. I fixed mine today. If I may add to your already great tutorial, I’d suggest using a zip tie instead of electrical tape. You can actually tie it around the piece and then supper glue it to the piece for extra support. Depending on the zip tie size, you may have to cut off the little square head but if you get the right size it won’t get on the way.
Nice job my friend!!! You saved me. Only thing is that the resistance is around 31 Ohms for my motor. After the repair of the wires the resistance is now 8 Ohms....Thank you for the video!
You legend. Solved my problem as well. Both wires were cut exactly like yours, and it was because the same exact part had its plastic "ring" that holds it in place broken where it fits in with the keyed plastic area. I just put some glue and some electrical tape around the edge to hold it into place. Hopefully it lasts.
Hey. Thanks for the fix. This is the reason mine stopped spinned and this video helped get it going again. My plastic mount was also broken with a section missing. Used superglue and will see how long it holds for.
Saludos
Thank you very helpful video. My plastic motor case is broken and I have through the broken part, I will need to by a spare plastic case. Do you know where I can order them from by any chance?
Sounds like a defect. The plastic holding the motor was broken. I haven’t disassembled all the way yet, but I am sure the wires are cut, too. I thought Dyson is supposed to be good.
It has happened to me twice already. I‘ve reordered the brush bar and replaced the whole thing in april. But today it has broken again :( but now I know the reason at least thanks to your video. This plastic part which holds the motor is an Achilles’ heel. Dyson needs to do smth about it.
Mine is having the same issue. The brush head stops spinning but when I disassemble and test it without the brush head on, the motor doesn't stop at all. I made sure all debris was gone and it's still not working. What could cause this?
Exactly the same thing, it saved me! My version of the plastic part that's holding the motor was kinda broken, but some tough tape will do the job hopefully. Thanks!
It looks like the plastic melted inside the roller. That can be caused by a stuck bearing (rusted?). You can remove it only by force, try to put some pressure on the roller with a flat screwdriver.
I have a problem, the brush doesn’t spin on Dyson. But if I connect 16v directly to the brush It spinning🤔 All connectors on Dyson are clean and when I check by multimeter it shows that there are voltage on the Dyson connectors. Do you have any ideas?
I think you have a problem with the electronic board of the vacuum cleaner. The board uses a MOSFET to power the brush and constantly monitors the consumption. It is possible that the MOSFET or another component is faulty.
Until it breaks again. It would be ideal to replace those components. More recently I see that they can be ordered from Aliexpress (Dyson Motor Bearing Assembly - around $5).
Mine doesnt also spin. But i have deassembled the whole thing. The wires are intact. And sometimes it spins for like 1 turn and then it stops. I think its maybe an cracked cable or sum idk do you maybe know something i dont?
First, you should check if it works normally when the fluffy bar is not mounted. Maybe it is a mechanical issue. If it still doesn't work normally, you could check both wires individually using a multimeter set to read resistance.
I have the same issue. The brush spins for 1-2 seconds and stops. Pressing the power button again causes it spin again for a few seconds and stops. Sometimes it does not spin at all. The wires are connected and seem to be okay as far as I can tell. Could it be that the motor in the brush bar is the problem?
Repairs like this are usually not done in service centers. Most likely they will recommend you to buy a new brush. This is also the purpose of this channel, to show how various problems can be solved to avoid the expensive complete replacement of the defective accessory.
You can remove the two wheels with the help of a very thin screwdriver with which you can pull out the axle of the wheels. After cleaning them, mount them back by pressing the wheels until the axle is fixed in its guide.
Watch this video I made: ua-cam.com/video/BCf2DCHRWqU/v-deo.html Depending on how the two wires (red and white) are connected, the brushes will rotate in one direction or another. In your case, if all the brushes rotate in the opposite direction, I recommend that you reverse the two wires. If you watch the video from the beginning, you can see the entire disassembly and assembly process. Good luck! If you have other questions, please ask.
Why should ever I pay so much money for this dyson-p*ece of sh*t, and then fix it by myself? What is more, the battery also sucks, it does not work after one year, if I use turbo-mode. I will never ever buy Dyson.
If the vacuum cleaner is under warranty, you don't have to repair the brush yourself. The defect is covered by the warranty and should be repaired free of charge. Like every product, it has weak points. Obviously no one expects an expensive product to have such problems, but the reality is that it happens and all we can do is hope that it won't happen to us. From my personal experience with these Dyson products, in general their quality is clearly superior to other cheaper products. Perhaps such a high price is not justified, but clearly the quality is better than other products.
Found the video after disassembly and figuring out the issue. Same ring is completely destroyed. That's some cheap plastic ring and a very poor design to prevent the motor from spinning on itself. The poor thing cut its own line of life, "better dying than staying in that so-called vacuum 🫡 " 🤣
it feels so good to bring something back from the dead, thank you so much for this!! ❤
Glad it helped!

Same issue for me (2 wires cut). Thanks for this video. Problem fixed!
Thanks!!!!!
Glad it helped
Thanks- solved my problem too- in my case the wire was not cut but the connector got loose -very helpful !
I'm glad I could be of help.
Merci beaucoup pour cette video, j'ai réussi a réparer mon balai dyson
Glad it helped!

Unfortunately, I don't think you can buy just the motor plastic case. You can buy the whole motor assembly for around 20$ from AliExpress.
👏👏👏 best repair Video, thank you👏👏
Sounds like a defect. The plastic holding the motor was broken. I haven’t disassembled all the way yet, but I am sure the wires are cut, too. I thought Dyson is supposed to be good.
Compared to other products, they are generally quite reliable. Like any product, it also has weak points that do not honor the company.

It sounds like you have the problem shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/5Kj-2SpSLrM/v-deo.htmlsi=drgFbo_QWs0Zk-Po
Hi when removing hair I cut through a black lining roller. The smaller purple / blue head won’t turn any quick fix please?
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Can you elaborate? Or can you send some pictures to TechFixPOVinfo@gmail.com?
This helped me out a lot! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
If you catch something with brush bar and it stops it this will happen. The plastic piece in mine shattered so it's not fixable without new part.
Yes, in this case, only a new part will make your brush work again.
@@techfixPOV Hi thank you for you video, it helped me a lot, but do you know where this bearing can be ordered? Mine is also shattered.
Exactly the same thing, it saved me! My version of the plastic part that's holding the motor was kinda broken, but some tough tape will do the job hopefully. Thanks!

Great video, helped me a ton!
Awesome, thank you!
My V8 soft roller is also not spinning. I tried to remove the soft roller but it is stucked at the other end. Any idea how to remove it. Thanks
It looks like the plastic melted inside the roller. That can be caused by a stuck bearing (rusted?). You can remove it only by force, try to put some pressure on the roller with a flat screwdriver.
Mine doesn't spin in any case, with brush and without brush, the rotor doesn't rotate What can it be? I don't know how to solve
There are several possibilities. Watch the videos on the channel to do the minimum checks first.
I have a problem, the brush doesn’t spin on Dyson. But if I connect 16v directly to the brush It spinning🤔 All connectors on Dyson are clean and when I check by multimeter it shows that there are voltage on the Dyson connectors. Do you have any ideas?

This is my problem too the roller bar /motor has power then it does like a hiccup and stops, it does this every time
I have the same problem, all the wires are connected properly.
The other brushes works great, only this one, turn half spin and stop..
🤷♂️
Mine does the same, have you fixed yours yet?
I have the same issue. The brush spins for 1-2 seconds and stops. Pressing the power button again causes it spin again for a few seconds and stops. Sometimes it does not spin at all.
The wires are connected and seem to be okay as far as I can tell.
Could it be that the motor in the brush bar is the problem?
Having the same issue. .however, until the moment I saw the cable snap decided not to DIY.....leave it to service center to fix. Complicated.
Repairs like this are usually not done in service centers. Most likely they will recommend you to buy a new brush. This is also the purpose of this channel, to show how various problems can be solved to avoid the expensive complete replacement of the defective accessory.
HI, I have the exact same problem but I'm not very good at soldering. Anybody knows where to buy just the new electric motor with new wires?
I found it and in the meanwhile I asked a friend of mine for soldering and it's working! You are great
Thank you! I'm glad you managed to fix it.
Thanks to U man I solved the same problem ! Great
You're welcome!
Hairs get stuck in the bottom two wheels and I can't get them out.
You can remove the two wheels with the help of a very thin screwdriver with which you can pull out the axle of the wheels. After cleaning them, mount them back by pressing the wheels until the axle is fixed in its guide.
This helped me a lot as well.. Thanks! :)

Where can one get the new plastic part? Thank you.
Unfortunately, this component cannot be purchased separately.
Thanks! Solved my issue 😀😀
Glad it helped!
My dyson heads all spin backwards. It pushes dirt out in front rather than sweeps it into the vacuum. How to fix!!
what model is the vacuum cleaner?

Watch the two videos I made with this brush. Two different defects are presented.
Why should ever I pay so much money for this dyson-p*ece of sh*t, and then fix it by myself? What is more, the battery also sucks, it does not work after one year, if I use turbo-mode. I will never ever buy Dyson.

Screw all that. I'll just buy a new one.
That`s also an option :))
Hi, what torx you use for repaired? Torx 8? Thank you.
Yes, Torx T8.
@@techfixPOV thank you.
