@@hospitalbruteband yeah, as far as I know you have no evidence or context to suggest that. it's perfectly believable, makes sense, isn't crazy, and it would be weird for him to randomly make a non obvious lie in the middle of him telling the truth about a bunch of stuff.
i need to pause every 30 seconds or so to take a breather. why did he make this. why would he do this. the atmosphere is just so perfectly unbearable i love it and i hate it

Jermas doing that thing where when you like 15, and a bunch of relatives that you've seen once in your entire life come in for the holiday, and everyone goes to greet them, but you just sit there very uncomfortably.
8:26 Can we just talk about the excellent composition of this shot? The whole family welcomes each other on the left while Jerma sits alone on the right, the stark-white table separating them, demonstrating how out of touch he is with everyone else. Excellent cinematography.
it irritated me how the dinner table isn't perfectly in the middle of the shot, but looking back, the fact that it's lob-sided towards jerma's side made it seemed like there's something off here and really emphasized how distant jerma is to the family. knowing jerma, i highly doubt this was intentional but i don't care much if it is or it isn't. interpreting things is just plain fun
The light perfectly highlighting jerma and leaving the others in shadow. Not to show how far away they are but to highlight isolation of the main character

This is the new jerma rumble but instead of wrestling it’s an awkward dinner with a lot of passive aggressive people who give snide comments to each other
Everyone has said it already, but the uncomfortable relatability is so strong in this video. Even the way he seems to cling to the idea of Uncle Lou as like, the one family member he relies on to have some kind of understanding for him as a “black sheep” of sorts
Uncle Lou seems like the sort of person that Jerma could have been, given a twist of fate. He has that same imagination and playfulness, but just grew up under circumstances in which being an artist didn't seem like a viable option.

I like how initially it's framed that Jerma is the loser of this family, until more and more cracks begin to show (notably with the father working at a dump and finding his suit there) that really, no one in this room is a winner.
I know this was staged but Jeremy most likely wrote the script which is really depressing because of all the insults and like the whole thing about his family pretty much thinking he’s a failure
