@@stanleyds88Rightly so, did you somehow miss the evidence linking it to increased risk? There's also the recent Harvard study showing a 60% increase in diabetes risk from red meat, and even from fish (when regions are separated: western cooking styles for fish make it just as bad). Sugar isn't a health food, but cutting it out so you don't show any symptoms of glucose control problems doesn't mean you don't have insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes. People with type 1 have to use more insulin for the same carb load when they eat more fat. Beware of overly-simplistic narratives that make a lot of sense and sell you something you want to hear, especially when they have to "debunk" the expert consensus. I too fell for the keto and ancestral diet nonsense for many years. On that note, there was another finding recently about our pre-neolithic ancestors that showed an 80%/20% ratio of plants to animals, so "gatherer-hunter" is more apt.
I had BPH in my late 30s. It went away when I changed my diet from the typical male diet of crisps, chips and Mars bars to one which would be called a healthy diet. I have not had problems for years.
Although the explanation you gave here was delivered quickly, I was able to follow along. In my opinion, you have one of the top five UA-cam health channels. I hope that the time it takes remains rewarding by whatever scale you measure that.

Golf carts seem funny to me. But there are not many carts that could cope with the humps and bumps around here. Two people walking together is more sociable anyway.

You give great news. Sometimes too much of a deep dive, but this confirms my beliefs about the American diet. The current American diet is very bad for you. I lived several years in Japan and people age much better there. Keep up the good work and I think the highlights are attractive.
Is is said Resting your electronic devices (phone, laptop / ipad) on your lap is conducive to the development / spread of prostate & bowel cancer, Has this been scientifically proven 🤔 Excellent Vlog 👌
Not really sure if it can be prevented, but I'm sure it helps. I've had an enlarged prostate for several years now, and my brother and brother n law have both had prostate cancer.
As was stated these studies relied on questionnaires, And although this was specific to a problem, they are no comparison to random control trials. While as another commenter said- especially in America, animals are so adulterated with growth hormones and antibiotics which we absorb, it is quite possible eating meat and by products like milk may have a deleterious affect. I do not believe meat from grass pastured and finished non GMO farms are a problem.
Dr. Malik Can you discuss PAE? I had this procedure done over a year ago with great success. I'm aware of all the other procedures available for BPH. I know the urologic community is slow to adopt this treatment. Can you discuss this treatment in a future video. Thanks
PAE is performed by an interventional radiologist, not by a urologist. There is no procedure that cures BPH. Your prostate will continue to grow after the procedure, and you eventually need another procedure in about 10 years.
I agree. A urologist may not perform this procedure but would certainly be expected to be familiar with pros and cons of all available treatment methods, providing referrals as appropriate. Since this is an educational channel (and a pretty good one) such a discussion would be welcome.
@@garyyencich4511 What I wonder is how effective is PAE at arresting, or at least slowing down, prostate growth post PAE and what are the unwanted side effects.
In my early 40's I went vegetarian and insisted on lots of dairy for the protein I thought I needed. Over the years my prostate symptoms grew worse and worse with slow stream and "multiple voiding" my dominate symptoms. About 10 years later I went 100% plant based and stopped the diary. Unexpectedly, my prostate symptoms began improving somewhat and multiple voiding faded away though slow stream (slower than my youth) remains. I was pleasantly surprised to have no further prostate symptom increase over the following 20 years, now at age 74. I'm convinced it was growth hormones either in or produced by the dairy consumption that caused my prostate growth.

Thought I'd share my short story... I'm 62, was diagnosed Type2 Diabetic 5 years ago. Dr. gave me a shoebox full of meds... got home and started watching UA-cams of doctors extolling another path, rather than medicating... stop eating carbs! Or, at least, drastically reduce your intake. ALL meds went into trash. I went to "no more than 20 grams of carbs per day". I lost 45 lbs in 3 months. I eat red meat, bacon, dairy, eggs by the carton, strawberries, and switched to diet soda. My blood pressure is perfect. My A1c went from 12 to 5.6. The internet is overflowing with this exact same story. I am not unique. They say don't eat red meat or dairy or eggs, but the proof is in the glucometer. Best wishes.
I have stop-and-go urination, usually in the morning or late at night, while I have a semi-erection. My wife has asked me to talk to my doctor about this. During the day or while in a placid state, I urinate in a regular stream fashion. Usually, though, will have about a 2-3 second delay under normal circumstances before the stream comes out; unless, I have drank lots of water, which I do often (filtered alkaline); at which point it exits powerfully and almost instantaneously. My stats: 5’ 10” 32”-33” waist 172 lbs. 43 years old Active lifestyle 80% of the time consisting of work, kids, and errands with spontaneous scheduling of hiking, beach walks, or leisure travel here and there 2-3 times per month.

Hi! Same here except I do not go to the gym 6 days a week but I do workout at home every day like HIIT. Looks like there is no a cure for this issue. I wonder why in my case it is enlarged. Also my testosterone level is good for my age, I am 35, not too low or too high just perfect. I do not know what to do. Red meat gets a bad rap mainly due to skewed studies. If you count hamburgers, pepperoni pizza, etc. These are high in carbs and seed oils. Beef with good vegetables are a healthy diet.
100% look at the Harvard food frequency questionnaire: meat is grouped with junk food and carbs (hot dogs, burgers etc). Very dubious look for yourself.
Plant based diet here. I started eating or drinking 1/2 cup twice a day of Hunt's pasta sauce and my PSA dropped from 4.18 down to 3.20 a 23% reduction in less than 2 months. The only issue I have is the 4 gm of sugar per half cup serving so I recently bought a 50 mg lycopene supplement to cut back on the sugary pasta sauce. My urine flow did seem to improve.
What brand supplement? I was looking in Vitamin Shoppe and all they had was 10mg concentrations and it was quite expensive! I had seen a study that used a whopping 500mg of lycopene so I was looking for a high concentration product. However, Im thinking such a product may not even be cost effective if 10mg was ~$45.00.

Flomax caused reverse ejaculation for me and my wife wasn't happy with it at all so I was switched to a different med that didn't have that side effect!
67 year old male: Metabolic syndrome is NOT caused by red meat or animal fat, it is caused by excess glucose and fructose and maybe eating foods cooked in vegetable oils which are high in omege6 fats which are damaged when heated. The best way to be healthy and strong is to eat a keto/carnivore diet and work outdoors.
I have tried everything and still have dribbling issues. Whether I stand sit , shake squeeze, wait there is always dribbling. Even taking flomax has never made any difference. Totally exhausted from it and I was told to just take my time.
A study that ONLY focuses on diet leaves out ALL other lifestyle choices. Maybe the red meat eaters were more likely to be smokers or drinkers, etc. Eating red meat or high fat is NOT shown, by this study, to be a risk factor for developing BPH. I am so tired of people citing flawed studies like they are good studies.
Frequent ejaculation is supposedly a great "tool" to use in prostate cancer prevention, but couldn't answer for enlargement. Masturbation lost it's fun for me in my 40's and I've got BPH in my 50s, so that can very well be true.

Lots of vegetables and wholemeal food, avoiding simple carbs. Eating fish often. Just a little red meat. No cakes or dessert as a general rule. My BP without meds is now 105/70! 🙏🏃
Lightly grilled tomatoes for lycopene and pumpkin seeds help me but quitting alcohol completely made the biggest difference.
Yes sirrr!
I've been told pumpkin seeds can help. I eat a handful a day but am also generally healthy with regard to weight/cholesterol/BP.
I had BPH for years despite living a very healthy lifestyle and keeping my weight under control. Unfortunately, I eventually developed Prostate cancer and had it removed almost 2 years ago. So, at least I no longer have to deal with BPH or having to pee every half hour. My PSA is now undetectable.

Can you discuss PAE?
Yup plant based for the win. Luckily I started whole plant diet 22 years ago so never got enlargement like my father and uncles. Plus no viagra needed at 53!

I cannot be sure whether it was the drugs given to the cows or cow milk in general. Since cow milk is designed to rapidly grow a calf into a cow, diary simply has more growth factors than I care to ingest.

Please describe to us viewers what mild to severe symptoms look like please.
My stats:
5’ 10”
32”-33” waist
172 lbs.
43 years old
Active lifestyle 80% of the time consisting of work, kids, and errands with spontaneous scheduling of hiking, beach walks, or leisure travel here and there 2-3 times per month.
I have none of the risk factors she mentions, and I have an enlarged prostate. Not overweight, not diabetic, no cholesterol or high blood pressure meds, and I go the gym 6 days a week
It seems like if the prostate has enlarged then the only thing you can is trying to keep it at same size or at least to slow the process.
What are your symptoms of enlarged prostate though? Some are mild

Eat a well planned, whole plant diet and you won't have prostate enlargement. I'm the only one in my family that's eaten this diet almost 22 years and at 53 I have zero prostate enlargement whereas my close relatives all had prostate issues by this age.
Ironically, I went full red meat, high-fat carnivore 3 years ago and my BPH practically went away.
Not ironic. Its fact.
Red meat gets a bad rap mainly due to skewed studies. If you count hamburgers, pepperoni pizza, etc. These are high in carbs and seed oils. Beef with good vegetables are a healthy diet.
Red meat increases your risk of cancer in later years.
100% look at the Harvard food frequency questionnaire: meat is grouped with junk food and carbs (hot dogs, burgers etc). Very dubious look for yourself.
The "red meat/cholesterol/saturated fat" is a lie nurtured by food processing interests and the health establishment in general, based on profits.
(Beef without the veg's is even more healthy.)
Good luck with that
Avoid grains, wheat, flour, sugar etc. Eat a variety of fresh fruit and veggies, fish, nuts, seeds, and meat.

Red meat consumotion has nothing to do with metabolic syndrome, that's caused by excessive carbohydrates.
Plant based is a propaganda because those must consume processed foods to get enough energy.

Frequent ejaculation is supposedly a great "tool" to use in prostate cancer prevention, but couldn't answer for enlargement. Masturbation lost it's fun for me in my 40's and I've got BPH in my 50s, so that can very well be true.
