I'm 72 - I'll share what works for me in 4 domains - DIET, EXERCISE, HYDRATION and SUPPLEMENTS DIET - Listen to enough diet videos and your head will explode. My takeaway after years of experimenting. Go as low carb as you can, eat good quality protein (I eat red meat, poultry, lamb and fish). Eat only pure food - cut out all processed foods, seed oils and sugar. Wanna know what is most important? #1 DO NOT snack between meals and DO NOT eat after 7 PM and make you next meal at noon the next day - that gives you a 14-16 hour fast). #2 Take a walk or go up and down some stairs AFTER you eat a meal. Engage the large leg muscles and they will suck up the insulin. DO NOT exercise hard, just a walk is fine. 10-15 minutes. EXERCISE - Very few talk about this - regular exercise gave me the GREATEST improvement in my prostate symptoms - combined with the above diet guidance. You DO NOT have to go crazy with exercise - at 72 I walk, do some yoga, body weight exercise (squats, incline pushups, and lots of Qi Gong, all of which concentrate on leg strength and hip flexibility. DO NOT sit for more than 20 minutes without getting up and walking around the room. Sitting is a prostate killer. When you sit you fold your self in half, cutting off all the energy and blood-flow to the pelvis, PLUS you apply a lot of pressure right on the prostate. Included in my regime are daily organ massage (heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, spleen, bladder and intestines) , and tapping acupressure points. HYDRATION - Yes, you can drink too much water - be careful - but stay well hydrated. Spring water, green tea (I can only drink decaf) chamomile, and hibiscus tea are excellent. I also drink 1-2 cups of Prostate Health Tea by BRAVO TEA. AVOID dairy and alcohol. SUPPLEMENTS - My first thoughts were that there was some magic herb or supplement that would fix me. I would be willing to wager I have tried more supplements than 99% of you. YES, some help, some don't. It's very individual as each person is unique. My research and experimentation is on-going but here is my current stack - and let me remind you once more - without DIET and EXERCISE you are wasting your time and money. Some supplements will give you minor relief but you need to think long-term healthy prostate lifestyle. Here is my current stack: (some I take every day, some once or twice a week) BLADDER/PROSTATE SPECIFIC Gokshuradi Guggulu (Banyan Herbs) ChandraPrabha Vati (Harmony Nutraceuticals) Organic Genitrac (Maharishi Ayurveda) Organic Prostate Protect (Maharishi Ayurveda) Kanchanar Guggulu (Banyan Herbs) Ultra Prostate (Life Extension) Used as needed Bangshil and Fortege, (Alarsin Pharm), Shilajit, and Varuna MINERALS Zinc + Copper (Jarrow Formulas) Potassium/Magnesium (Life Extension) MISCELLANEOUS HERBS THAT HELP WHOLE BODY Organic Moringa NAC Tumeric D3 Berberine DIM Black Cumin Seed Oil (Life Extension) Benfotiamine (Life Extension) Final thought - if you want to fix your prostate work on your WHOLE body. To work on your whole body fix all the individual organs. Your prostate is NOT an isolated organ/gland that suddenly has a 'problem'. All your organs are intimately interconnected and need to work together. The only way to do that is with DIET, EXERCISE, HYDRATION and SUPPLEMENTS that work for you! Good luck gents.
Thanks for making this post, I've found it very useful. I'm in the process of finding what works for me, I am beginning to realise sitting longer that 20 min is not good, I'd agree it just puts pressure on the pros/bladder, I get up now and walk around the room, it does seem to allow by body parts to fall back into shape.
@@totaltwit Very good! It's a journey of discovery. Many small things begin to positively add up over time. I have found improvements build slowly, but that is fine. You cannot expect to reverse years of imbalance overnight. Another benefit of getting up regularly is that just the physical act of getting up sends signals to activate your metabolism and muscles which is good for overall health and reduces excess insulin.
@@michaelfforte yes I agree, JoD & lots of little things seem to add up. I'm on cath+bag avoiding turp. I've noticed I still wake up at around 01:00 (I have no sensation to wee) I check my bag and it needs emptying! I now accept getting up around that time helps my body to re-stable (with or without the cath+bag). The bag also tells me how hydrated I am (colour/quantity) and what passes thru me quickly. Green and chamomile tea go cleanly through. I've found the pelvic floor muscle exercises (stop and flo) help too. I use the cath. to measure how much I can move it in and out. Also doing Yoga exercises which has shown me my lower back (lumbar) is weak, feeling stronger everyday with those. I read the prost. is a slow growing gland so I'm of the mindset this is going to take many months for any useful changes. Having accepted that, I make the relevant lifestyle changes and keep going with a good outlook. :)
@@totaltwit Sounds good! Interesting the waking up at 1 AM - in Traditional Chinese Medicine 1 AM is 'Liver Time'. The emotion associated with liver is anger and frustration. The liver is very active between 1-3 AM and is responsible for releasing toxins and making new blood, hormones and many other functions.
I’d like to see a study on how many men with enlarged prostate have bacterial infection. I say this because in all cases where my clients have gone to a doctor about prostate enlargement, they were never checked for urinary tract infections. When I asked them to get this checked, in all cases they had a treatable uti. Upon treatment the prostate enlargement was also corrected
I agree with you. when you get prostatitis it gets really worse from there on because the prostate for some unknown reason begins to grow faster than normal. doctors should begin doing preventive medicine especially after prostatitis but the generally ignore it afterwards as just an episode that happened with no long term effect. this and all overgrowth of cells in any part of the body will most likely end up with some form of cancer.
Absolutely. Verified this. US insurance & Medicare Stat-Path will not cover this, so medical professionals wear blinders. FDA, driven by lobbyist prefer a treatment over analysis.
I'm 66, and have been dealing with this issue for over 10 years now...I have tried them all, the last being Prosta Genix(Beta-Sitosterol) for a few years,...it may help a little but none of them really seem to work well ...eliminating as much sugar as possible seems to be the best defense....save your money...change your diet
Note the Anti inflammatory theme... Look at all (especially US process food, supplement) ingredients. Vegetable Oil causes Inflammation. Replace that wit products using Olive oil. Studies for example taking Vitamin D3 using vegetable oil vs Vitamin D3 in Olive Oil have very different outcomes. That's just one example.
I'm 71 years old and started having problems a year ago with frequent urges to go during the night. Took Super Beta Prostate Advance for a couple of months with some relief. After two months started taking 2 to 3 cups of tomato juice daily along with the supplements and noticed a very significant improvement in urges and frequencies. Also had better bladder relief and bowl movements. Hope this helps.
When I make my spaghetti I use extra water, I add soy sauce and hot sauce, diced hot peppers, half onion, celery and whole garlic. I let it come to boil, then let it set a little while, add a Big spoon of butter, then add a can of stewed tomatoes, drain juice first then chop up the rest, put in and stir, it’s no problem eating the whole pan and the juice has a little bite to it, it seems to relax my system and helps greatly with my bowel movement. I’m 72 and started having problems with my prostate a couple of years ago, . I’m still experimenting with diet, I’ll be trying niacin B 3 when I can find it, it helped me with my stroke back in 2010
Her FDA studies are myopic & don't consider diet. For example, any food product product that includes Vegetable Oil, known for increasing inflammation, affects results of taking singular supplements
I'm going to list what worked for me in order of importance: 1 getting rid of all dairy in my diet(this is the most important step) 2 fasting also helped 3 at the same time I went to a low-carb diet, so I don't know how much it contributed, maybe the insulin reduction also helped. I no longer have any problems and my flow is improved significantly.
What definitely has helped me with psa has been indole 3 carbinol. Hi believed DIM does a similar job. I also take green tea caps with some cayenne peper as well as graviola herb. This combination has not affected the size but the latest MRI result was an improvement as far as possible cancer was concerned. Will keep trying and see what the future holds. Wish you all the best.
Last year I got the newest and best treatment for bhp available today. It was like going to the dentist but much faster (15 min) and no pain at all. Only a small amount of local anesthesia and I could leave immediately after. The method: The doctor infers a tiny catheter through the penis and when it reaches the blocked passage through the prostate, the doctor activates a small microwave source in the cathete. The time and strength for this microwaves is extremely carefully monitored. Result: about a month later the urinating problems start to go away as the killed tissue gradually is washed away with urine. It continues to improve the following months. In my opinion this is the king of non-invasive treatments in general, especially concerning that it is high effective and has no side effects. This method is developed in Sweden by the medtech company Prostalund in the city of Lund, Sweden. It gave me a new life and I am forever grateful.
What you just described sound nice. It makes sense that it was developed outside of the United States. Sweden is a wonderful and rich Country that care about their citizens. It makes sense that the medical science in Sweden is more progressive.
@@forrestgossett No, it was performed in a public hospital in Sweden and free of charge bcs it is within the Swedish health care system and included in our taxes. I know that this company is trying to spread this method to more hospitals and private clinics in Sweden and, I guess, also internationally.
I had a terrible, painfully enlarged prostate at age 45. I stopped dairy, eggs and the little meat I did eat then, and the problem has been gone for 17 years! Fit and healthy at 62 with a good sex life. Stopping dairy is the most important single thing you can do for your prostate.
I never knew that eating eggs is not good for enlarged prostate. I do eat one boiled egg every day. I don't drink milk from diary, but I use natural Greek yogurt for my salad.

I,m 71, eat 2 boiled eggs everyday since 7 years ago, Saturdays and Sundays take 3, and a glass of goat milk everyday too. My PSA is 0,47 . Each body is a world. Thanks.
Fasting, no seed oils, good supplements (zinc, d, NAC, iodine (10mg)) no fluoride, no mouthwash. Leafy greens yes. Mine was huge and no one said anything about it, even after a doc exam before a vasectomy. he said it's fine. I said i don't think so. I couldn't ride bikes much. Now there's virtually no pressure/pain uncomfortable. BP was high for me for a long time too. i'm 40, but for 15 years it's been around 140 to 150 over 90's. Now it's 115/60's or 70's. Get you BP in check with diet and exercise and many other problems and things will right themself. Be well and nasal breathe. I bet that helped it too. I changed 100 things in 4 months. It took that long for the prostate to shrink and weight to come off. And BP to drop.
If only i knew at your age. Doing these things, short high intensity, then lots of zone 2 cardio. You'll do well. Look up pat mcnamara, great range or various activities to be fit, active and have movement skills. @@matthewdevigneron
My prostate started enlarging 2 years ago, the one remedy that worked for me is fasting, weight lifting and staying off sugars and processed carbs. A quick remedy is to ice the prostate area with an ice cube, wearing underwear that retains heat can exacerbate the problem, you don't want your prostate to overheat overnight, sleep without underwear.
Sugar is the common denominator among the many posts. Our American culture is hooked on sugar. Which might be the reason many of us are having issues. Young males need to watch their diets; their health will catch up to them.
Studies have shown that although there is zinc in the prostate, taking zinc won't have any impact on the reduction of already existing prostate enlargement. It might help prevent enlargement, but won't get rid of it
Stinging nettle root to stop growth. If it is already enlarged add pygeum. Zinc with a little copper (to much zinc depletes copper) is always smart to take every day.
Use a product in NZ made by Suisse called Prostate. Took about 6 weeks to notice any differences but did and very noticeable Contains Saw pimento, pumpkin seed, licopene and others. Really appreciated the good Doctor's info which helped me make a well informed decision
Have BPH, not much help from Saw Palmetto, but have seen improvement from Pygeum Africanum. Since pharma study showed some improvement, then don’t expect any further studies. Pharma doesn’t want to find a treatment that they can’t profit off, and they certainly don’t want to find a cure.
Take 5-10 mg of Iodine and Selenium. The prostate uses the second largest amount of Iodine behind the Thyroid. You may want to take your time getting to 10mg as this can sometimes create a detox effect. You should notice a major difference in a week or two.
4 years ago, I had slightly elevated PSA about 4.2 going to 5 one year later. My PCP recommended me to see a Urologist but I decided to see what I can find on youtube and the Internet. Tried doing some light stretching and walking /added more vegies to my 50-50 meat and vegie diet.. 6 months later, did another PSA and went up to 6 . Tried to read more and then tried Saw Palmetto . Simply chose Nature's Way 585 mg berries , did not change my existing diet, had another PSA test after 6 months, reading went down to 5.4. Continued this for another year, PSA reading further down to 5.2. This year ,it was hovering very slightly higher to 5.3. Can be a person to person thing, since I saw reviews that it has helped some , and no impact on others but it is helping in my case. I guess it can be better with more exercises and change in diet. My nightly toilet visit used to be 2-3x nightly , now reduced to 1-2x. I am now 63.
After listening to a 3 hr+ interview with a renowned prostate expert, I junked the Avodart my urologist had me on, after I underwent Green Light Therapy( cells impinging on the urethra vaporized by laser). I then started using Pumpkin Seed Oil & Stinging Nettle Root capsules which I alternate daily. So far so good in terms of flow & I haven't experienced any notable side effects.
@@gregdavidson5898 Yes it was done under complete anesthesia. I was in the recovery room for a while as my blood pressure needed to come down. No pain at all. Left with a catheter which came out in a day or two. That was the only pain I experienced frankly. Recovery was quick with no repercussions. Haven't had any problems since.
Hello, I have the same question as @gregdavdson5898. Can you please share? Any additional information you can provide would potentially be a huge help. Thanks in advance, Max
I was prescribed Terazosin 9 years ago but wasnt satisfied with the results and felt light-headed all the time. I began taking pygeum (250mg). This has helped me greatly and recommend it to everyone with BPH.
What brand of pygeum? I'm almost out of NusaPure and it is currently unavailable. I feel like one capsule of NusaPure was at least as strong as two capsules from Nutricost, based on the feel of "irritation" to my prostate. I know NusaPure was recently getting some bad publicity for at least one of their other supplement's active ingredient quantity being much lower than stated though.
Nice to know! I was on Doxazosin, a sister drug of Terazosin, and had fewer side effects. Tadalafil manages my BPH now, and that's greatly enhanced sexual function to where I feel 20 years old again in that department.
I have been on Tadalafil for 18 months. It is gradually diminishing in effectiveness. The increasing night time stuffy nose and vision changes are causing me to discontinue the tadalafil. I had one consult for the Holep. Now I have to decide....... @@Dulcimerist
I have very mild BPH. The doctor gave me tadalafil to ease the symptoms. I also take saw palmetto, and the doctor didn't oppose. Well. The symptoms eased. The prostate didn't increase in one year. Wether saw palmetto as a role in the results or not, it doesn't matter. I will continue to take it. And the added benefit I get from tadalafil is a huge bonus. I'm 58 from Portugal.
For me same. Tadalafil and Saw Palmetto and also Lycopene is the best combination for me. All other things, including changing countless my diet doesn't change anything. Cutting diarys out of my diet changed nothing, except I got other health problems.
Been using Prostagenix for about a year now. Last Urologist visit my psa lowered by a point and have maintained good urine flow. Also my prostate shrank and is not hard. Happy with the results. Will continue to use seeing the positive results.
Also, Prostagenix is loaded with phytosterols and they may cause plaque buildup in coronary arteries, according to latest research from Germany (I did not see the study myself though)....
I take Costco's Prostate Complex capsule, Stinging Nettle leaf and Saw Palmetto capsules daily and never have a problem with looking for bathrooms wherever I may go. Been doing this for 4 or 5 years now. ;-)
@@royexcellentalexander8308 Thanks for the tip. I just looked it up and the side effects are listed below....did you have any of these? "Common side effects include dizziness, headache, sleeplessness, nausea, blurry vision, and sexual problems". Wikipedia
@royexcellentalexander8308 Tamsulosin just relaxes the prostate to allow a stronger pee stream. As a side effect, it can also slightly lower blood pressure. My understanding is it doesn't shrink the prostate.
Well, I take Saw Palmetto 1 capsule 3 times a day since June and my PSA dropped from a 6.7-7.2 and went down to a 2.7 last month, while shrinking my prostate. Also, we know how the data is manipulated in all studies and for who is funding it. So, if a Pharma group is funding the studies that makes a synthetic that the natural competes against, they will fund the studies to get the result they want to show that makes the natural look useless. In fact, all studies are funded to get a desired result and much undesired data is thrown out when it skews the results they want. Growing up in and around Biomedical, I can say this for a fact for ALL studies. Take it with a grain of salt. Update: PSA is at 1.97 now and my Urologist is a believer. 😊
@@45graham45 Natures Way 585mg per serving, three times daily. You can double or triple it based on severity. Single capsule three times daily worked for me though.
Thanks for the informative video! I have BPH, and had no idea that IGF-1 can enlarge the prostate. I have acromegaly (what Andre the Giant had), which by definition causes the body to have abnormally high levels of IGF-1 and growth hormone (GH). The connection makes a lot of sense!
🤔…..great presentation thanks. For what it’s worth, I have experience with 2 supplements that caused urination problems. 1) Creatine 2) Chia Seeds Well, I guess technically speaking Chia seeds are not a “supplement”. From my personal experience, I can say that without fail, almost immediately upon consuming either of those two items, urination problems began. And within days of stopping, then normal urine flow/quantity returned. I know this is just one person mentioning this….but if other guys out there are consuming either of these and having urination problems, perhaps consider stop consuming them and see what happens.
Thank you for sharing this information. I never had prostate pain and urination problems before I started with one round teaspoon of creatine per day. At age 69 I am concerned with loosing muscle mass. Now, about 4 - 5 months later I’m having prostrate pain, frequent urination with urge to really go. I am healthy and active. I will be stopping the creatine supplementation immediately. Thank you!
@ yes, it might be a creatine side effect, or it might not be. You’ll know after you stop, within about four or five days. If the problems do not subside after about five days, you should definitely consult a doctor.
How much of a risk is the Saw Palmetto in people with high blood pressure, and how much can it interfere with blood pressure medications? I remember that being a risk factor.
I had bph for 11 years. I took all of the supplements you talked about from many different manufacturers trying to reduce the size of my prostate. Nothing worked and after 11 years I developed prostate cancer. I had it removed a little over 3 years ago and am doing just fine. I can no longer get an erection, but I was told by my doctor before the surgery that would most likely happen because of the size of my prostate. If I could do it all over, I would have had it removed in the beginning to avoid all of the suffering I went through.
same for me. It's been a year. I tested many supplements but BPH isn't just inflammation but a cell overgrowth which is impossible to reverse but I believe preventable. however covid worsened my condition and finally convinced my doctor to operate. for now incontinence and no erection is much better to deal with. I wish you health and a long life.
I'm 48, and have experimented extensively with two products. Super Beta Prostate(SBP), and three different brands of Saw Palmetto(SP), in various doses, from 160 to 4800mg. I have found the SBP tends to help with my stream, where SP at 4800mg, used alternately in 30 day alternations, for 60 days...tends to last about 1 year. Hope this helps other men out there.
I'm using a combination. I think it helps. I take Reishi mushroom, pygeum, beta sitosterol, moringa powder, and cortisol suppressant chemicals. This combo seems to help quite a bit. I went from 7 or 8 night time trips to only 2. A product called "Cortisolv" is the cortisol suppressant that I used.
Good. Add turmeric and black pepper 🌶 to reduce inflammation daily. Mix apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses ratio 1:1 and take the combo daily. All these help too.
I only added pumpkin seed oil from NOW. I went from 6-7 times per night to 0-1. Now I don’t drink anything after 4 pm but Pumpkin seed is amazing. Will look into the items you listed though
In 2000 I had my first PSA test and it was 5.6. I decided to try supplements and for most of the past 24 years my PSA has hovered around 3.7. I have visited my urologist annually and have maintained an enlarged prostate and the DRE always indicate no problems.
I have had great success with raw garlic, 50 mg zinc supplements (daily), and saw palmetto and the cost for all these is less than $75. That's 1000X better than getting the TURP medical procedure from the urologist.... After six month of using the zinc, raw garlic, saw palmetto, and a change in diet my prostate is still a little on the large size but much much better than my prostate was 6 months ago! The daily garlic will help dramatically reduce the prostate size and then the zinc will replenish the needed zinc that is the main cause for prostate enlargement in men over 50. Saw palmetto is suppose to be very effective as well but my experience with raw garlic has been highly effective and I take the saw palmetto capsules every second day just as a precautionary measure! My last ultrasound the doctor told me that while my prostate was a bit on the larger side, I should just address the problem in the future as the problem was not an urgent matter to look into immediately.
@@nileshsfitness4652 I buy my saw palmetto off Amazon and the zinc citrate from either Walmart or London Drugs.... Zinc Citrate is pretty much all the same everywhere. The raw garlic I just buy at our local big Canadian Superstore but raw garlic is cheap and can be picked up at any Supermarket....

I've had prostate problems for 40 years (started with prostatitis, now BPH) and I've taken many supplements over the years. Some better that others. I do know if I don't take any supplements my prostate pain and urinary nighttime frequency goes up. You just have to find good supplements.
I can’t speak for or against studies but I personally have had positive results with Saw Palmetto. If it is placebo then so be it. Whatever works. I think the biggest factor is where you are getting your supplements from.

I go to the urologist regularly and good have blood markers (PSA). At my last visit, about 5 months ago, I was completely normal, with a very low PSA, and a small prostate. I don't have any symptoms of BPH. Anyway, I take: • Pumpkin seed • Brazil nuts • Tomato lycopene • Capsule with: saw palmetto+pygeum africanum+dioecious nettle
What about Vitamin D3? There's been a study showing it's got great benefits for avoiding death from prostate cancer at least. I wonder if there's more to it here.
How is 72 weeks over 3 years? 52 weeks in a year.... Just wondering which it is, but I sure enjoyed your video. Gave me a lot of great information. Thank you for taking the time. God bless.
Pumpkin seeds are a food. It is easy to a half cup. Chocolate without any sugar seems to increase flow for me. I've recently started taking a whopping dose of salmon oil for vitamin A and the side benefit of the Omega-3 fats. I am considering ginger and oregano for prostate health.
Saw palmetto has helped me too. I have prostatitis and i also use pumpkin seed oil daily. I am off my meds thanks to these supplements within weeks and now 6 months on still good.
As a 62-year-old male with a history of BPH dating back to my collegiate years, I have explored various pharmacological interventions with limited success. Consequently, I have transitioned to a complementary approach utilizing a phytotherapeutic regimen comprising Lycopene, Saw Palmetto, and Pumpkin Seed Extract. My PSA levels currently fall within the normal range, but I have not undergone a digital examination for several years, so it is unclear if this regimen has had an effect on the size of the prostate. My primary and most debilitating symptom is nocturia, with pre-supplementation frequency reaching as high as seven instances per night. The current regimen has demonstrated a significant reduction in this frequency, with an average now of two nocturnal episodes.
Its a real pain for those of us who have BPH. I was getting up 4-5 times a night. I started taking a premium saw palmetto[ the cheap stuff at wally world does no good] the one I use besides saw palmetto also has pumpkin seed, africanum bark, nettle leaf, and black pepper extract. There are others that may also work , but this one works for me, it does take a while and you need to keep taking it. I take 2 before going to bed. On many nights now I sleep thru the night or maybe get up 1 time. Im also on keto/low carb. for the last 5 mo. If you drink alcohol will infuriate the problem. I think the getting up many times a night takes a real toll on your body.

Ohhh hell no. Just googled green light laser treatment. I should of known lol. I have PTSD from anything going up my urethra. They had to scope my kidney many years ago. After the procedure they said I can't leave until I pee. I made sure I really had to go. Had the nurse help me because I couldn't stand from the anesthesia. Doc broke my penis. It was spraying blood in every direction except going inside the toilet. I'm like. I'm soooooorry!! Nurse said it's OK it's ok..I'm just yelling I'm sorry as blood is spraying on the walls, sides of toilet and floor. Looked like a God damn horror scene. I continued to piss blood and it felt like razors for 3 days. But I guess if it gets as bad as my dad. Maybe I'll have no choice. Hope it works for you bro. From what I read it helps symptoms by 88%

I heard of a new procedure by the name of "Resume." What I found in the article was that this procedure involved them shooting balls of steam, which then would shrink the prostate. Furthermore, it would return all things to its normal condition. In addition, within two or three weeks, sex was back to its original performance. All this with minimal to no after affects. Can you tell us more about "Resume." Thanks, since I am looking to have this procedure done for my enlarged prostrate.
It is called Rezume, and it has been around for many years. She did a comparison of several procedures a year or so ago and Rezume is one of them. You should be able to find it easily in the search bar. Rezume is like all other prostate procedures, it sometimes works well and it sometimes causes more problems that it solves. Research it intensely before making your decision. If you are concerned about preserving your sex life, some other options are Urolift, Aquablation and prostate embolization (PAE). There are also other options available depending on the size of your prostate and what exactly is causing the blockage. If your median lobe is projecting into the bladder, it is unlikely that the less invasive procedures will help you. Urolift and PAE did not work for me so I got a TURP (resection of the prostate, or the "roto rooter" surgery). Even though the TURP almost always causes retrograde ejaculation, my ejaculation did not change at all. Everybody is different. Best of luck to you!
Took saw palmetto in rhe 90’s when my family doctor couldn’t help with my decreased urine flow. It Increased my flow significantly within months. When i reported it to him ..got no reaction. (Didn’t dissuade, inform, approve etc..). It has become well known and has tripled i price..

There are several additional supplements that have some effect especially when used with the common ones. Also some vitamins have an effect. I go to the VA for health care and in my early 60's talked me into using Tamsulosin and Finasteride. If your sex life isn't over, don't take those. I achieved the same, if not better results with supplements w/o the side effects. It took about a year for my reproductive plumbing to recover. It's not my channel and I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to say exactly what I take. But I drew you a map. I have a normal stream, some urgency, and apparently a shrinking bladder. Opportunities don't happen too often at 75, but if one does, I think everything will work.
So the doctor put me on Tamsulosin hcl to help with flow and prostate symptoms and it was okay nothing to write home about, so thought perhaps a natural method would work better combining it with saw palmetto pumpkin seed oil and zinc and low and behold it went from okay to good flow less trips to the bathroom so for now this is my journey and so far so good.
Can you clarify something? Is saw palmetto shown to reduce conversion to DHT? Whether it shrinks the prostate is up for debate, but what about DHT reduction?
I think 1mg per day of Finasteride (for male pattern baldness) shrunk my prostate after just a month of use, never really had a problem with my prostate, but I noticed I need to pee more frequently and the stream is a lot stronger now.
@@AlexM-jd2ro I took 1mg of oral Fin from Manual, for about 6 months from July 2022, then changed to 1mg 3x per week after my joints started to ache a bit more, was starting to effect my workouts a little bit, it wasn't bad, I could have kept going, but I saw just as much improvement in my hair taking it 3x per week and my joints felt better, did that for a further 6 months, but since August 2023 I've been using HIMS topical Fin/Minox instead, same hair improvement and any side effects I was experiencing (besides peeing, I seem to urinate more since starting oral Fin) have now gone.
From the research I’ve read, if you take high dosages of saw palmetto, it can shrink the Prostate over a long period of time , like say a year..palmetto does the same thing as finasteride except no nasty side effects..
You need to know Flomax and Finasteride almost killed me from passing out while driving and dizzyness before I passed out . TURP surgery ruined my brother’s wax life completely. I was hoping you would give me some hope about an all natural pill , But you were so Negative , I am now depressed.
Speaking for myself, I use something called [Prostaid], it basically contains all the ingredients mentioned in the video, (for me) it works 100%, the effect is immediate and it works so well that I don't have to take it daily, don't know which of the ingredients is the winner or if it's the combination of all...
Hey Doc, what’s your assessment of keeping the prostate drained via massage of the prostate? The physics makes sense if you think about it. There are a couple ways to do this of course. Would a single prostate ejaculation drain an appreciable amount of fluid? Could you consider a video on this, covering both the digital (finger) version and a device? Thanks.
I'm 83 and have been trying to improve my BPH for years. I have been taking a supplement named "Prostadine" for 9 months and it has greatly reduced my need for frequent urination during the day and at night. You can order it online.
I have been taking saw palmetto most of my life as an eight year old boy I had prostate problems before I even knew what sex was. It was recommended to me by my doctor and told my parents I have four other brothers did not have this problem but everyone of them, experienced male pattern baldness I didn’t and I have been taking it all my life so I know it does some things to stop DHT from blocking the hair follicle and it does help with my prostate as I’ve gotten older if I stop taking it at all. I will start having problems urinating I also take berberine to control blood sugar and it works so I know these things can help. They are variable, though by the manufactures, but as for the last 20 years, the pharmaceutical industry has bought up and owns most of the supplement companies. It’s not to their advantage to give you , something that works better than their drug and they pay people to go online to discredit supplements..
saw palmetto is thought to increase flow? Saw palmetto absolutely increases flow and slows down the incidents of leaking in my case. If I skip for the day the stop and starting returns. I have been using it for over 15 years.
Dear Dr. Malik - In your discussion of Saw Palmetto (SP), perhaps you should have pointed out that the European Union endorses using a specific SP (Permixon) backed by double-blind placebo-controlled trials. The failure of the Cochrane studies to demonstrate efficacy is likely due to the comparison and pooling of SP products with different fatty acid fingerprints. Please consider reviewing and making a video based on this systematic and consensus review, Nickel, J. Curtis, et al. "Rethinking the role of saw palmetto extract for men with lower urinary tract symptoms in North America." Uro 2.3 (2022): 137-150. Thanks, Bryan M., Ph.D.
I'm 72 - I'll share what works for me in 4 domains - DIET, EXERCISE, HYDRATION and SUPPLEMENTS
DIET - Listen to enough diet videos and your head will explode.
Here is my current stack: (some I take every day, some once or twice a week)
BLADDER/PROSTATE SPECIFIC
Gokshuradi Guggulu (Banyan Herbs)
ChandraPrabha Vati (Harmony Nutraceuticals)
Organic Genitrac (Maharishi Ayurveda)

Final thought - if you want to fix your prostate work on your WHOLE body.

Interesting 👆
I agree with you. when you get prostatitis it gets really worse from there on because the prostate for some unknown reason begins to grow faster than normal. doctors should begin doing preventive medicine especially after prostatitis but the generally ignore it afterwards as just an episode that happened with no long term effect. this and all overgrowth of cells in any part of the body will most likely end up with some form of cancer.
How do you mean? No urine sample was taken and checked for bacteria?
Absolutely. Verified this. US insurance & Medicare Stat-Path will not cover this, so medical professionals wear blinders. FDA, driven by lobbyist prefer a treatment over analysis.
@@EatMyOats I live in Germany and testing the urine for infection is always the first thing

Drop dairy. Sugar in whole fruit is GOOD for us.
Note the Anti inflammatory theme... Look at all (especially US process food, supplement) ingredients. Vegetable Oil causes Inflammation. Replace that wit products using Olive oil.
Tomatoes contain Lycopene and has been known to help for ages. Thank you for sharing. Pumpkin seeds are amazing.
Her FDA studies are myopic & don't consider diet. For example, any food product product that includes Vegetable Oil, known for increasing inflammation, affects results of taking singular supplements
You
I'm going to list what worked for me in order of importance:
1 getting rid of all dairy in my diet(this is the most important step)
2 fasting also helped
3 at the same time I went to a low-carb diet, so I don't know how much it contributed, maybe the insulin reduction also helped.
I no longer have any problems and my flow is improved significantly.
Did it really shrink ?
I quit dairy for over a year and no improvement, it’s not always diet related
I have tried the fasting which seems to help, but will try extra effort with dairy free and low carb.
@@moss6180 Best of luck and wish you a happy new year.
You could hardly call it non invasive, but I'm glad your well.
Was it done here in the US? If so, where? Please and thank you
FDA is lobbyist driven. Wouldn't count on this being covered by insurance in US this decade.
@@forrestgossett No, it was performed in a public hospital in Sweden and free of charge bcs it is within the Swedish health care system and included in our taxes.

That's zinc you're getting in pumpkin seed.
Good info I'm 18 I'm practicing these now so I should be fine by the time I'm older ❤ wish you well brother

Very good biochemistry and pharmacology, Dr. Malik. Professional and informative. A superior medical video.
Stinging nettle root to stop growth. If it is already enlarged add pygeum. Zinc with a little copper (to much zinc depletes copper) is always smart to take every day.
Too much zinc interacts with the copper and will give you a bronzed flow 😆

Thank you for comprehensively covering the topic. Merry Christmas.
🤔…..great presentation thanks. For what it’s worth, I have experience with 2 supplements that caused urination problems.
1) Creatine
2) Chia Seeds
Well, I guess technically speaking Chia seeds are not a “supplement”.
Thanks!

Thanks for your update!

That’s definitely true if you’re buying your vitamins from Walmart, you get what you get

I take pumpkin seed oil zinc saw palmetto on a fairly regular basis. In the spring I harvest stinging nettles steam the greens eat them and drink the juice. I go to the urologist regularly and good have blood markers (PSA). At my last visit, about 5 months ago, I was completely normal, with a very low PSA, and a small prostate. I don't have any symptoms of BPH. Anyway, I take:
• Pumpkin seed
• Brazil nuts
• Tomato lycopene
• Capsule with: saw palmetto+pygeum africanum+dioecious nettle
You're the best, kid. Peace and blessings.

What about Vitamin D3? There's been a study showing it's got great benefits for avoiding death from prostate cancer at least. I wonder if there's more to it here.
Pumpkin seeds (zinc) and the Iteracare device (anti-inflamatory) helped ‘solved’ my urinary incontinence.
Extremely fair and balanced analysis. Appreciate this video.

Saw palmetto and Pigeum & Stinging nettle I’m using for some 20 years to today(Pl buy the Green Pharmacy) book.I am 79 with Psa of 0.2. good health.
What about the plant...known as "Moringa" (grows is Central America).
I have been taking one cap of Saw Palmetto for twenty years and I know three other guys started taking it and recovered from their problems.
Which premium one do you take?

One indicator of a reduction in DHT is hair growth on the head. This causes the hair folicles to stop hair growth on the head and hair growth on the chest and back.

Any signs of new hair growth? 😆
I can appreciate the extra info but can there just be a short answer area? A 'cut to the chase' area? What works and what doesn't work?
As the doctor explained, there are no short answers. People are different, their food is different, their bodies are different. Try all supplements but don't expect miracles.
I’m 34 and have BPH that started at around 30…the flair ups aren’t fun however this has been a wake up call for my own personal health,I’m getting green light laser treatment here soon enough and I might get my life back cheers guys!❤
From what I read it helps symptoms by 88%
It is too early to get BPH at 30...perhaps, genetics or....did you use steroids ?
Sounds like you eat dairy.
I've got BPH at 34 too. I've lived off cheese as primary diet most of my life so I guess that makes sense.

@@p.c.h.6721 Just one capsule a day, as the directions say. I didn't expect to see any results, but noticed even after a couple days that my urine stream was stronger. I doubt that is a placebo effect.
Thank you so much for sharing the most informative video.
Yes, but it is a surgical procedure with its own risks and side effects from anesthesia....We are talking about non-surgical treatments in this video
Can you please let me know how did it go please and good luck 🤞
I'm 75 and started having flow and frequency problems about 50. I searched out info and started using some of the common supplements. As the internet aged, more info became available.
Is what you take covered in this video?
Why would you not share that useful information with others needing help.
@@KarlCourage I'm not a doctor and the info is easy to find with a little effort.

Can Anything help with prostate nodules or prostate cancer? Thank you.
The placebo effect is so common that is actually part of every serious trial. Maybe we should study more about this form of "treatment"??
It was very useful video and information to confirm what I´ve learned before and applied.
