Just picked up my 600 after much deliberation on what to choose for my first real detector. Was a bit confused/overwhelmed when I turned it on for the first time, and decided to do some more "studying" before I fire it up for real. Your video has been the best I've seen so far in explaining these beautiful machines. Thanks for making me feel like less of a dummy. :)
I have had my nox for about a year and I keep coming back to this video, when I forget what some of the settings are. thanks for explaining it so well.
I purchased the Equinox 600 as it was recommended as a affordable option for beginners as its versatility and is completely water proof up to 16 feet of water because I want to be able to beach detect. So far I love this detector, I went detecting out in the dried up lake in my back yard and have found mostly junk and a few coins from the 1970s, so far nothing great yet. Hopefully some day. Im excited to get to the beach soon. Thank you so much for the video.
though I had some problem with sea water It also ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
Excellent. I got the machine a few months ago and thought I was smart enough to figure it out without a tutorial (I had previously owned a White's Electronics). But, alas, I'm not that smart. So, this tutorial was exactly what I needed. I knew the technology but not the machine. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
2 weeks I’ve have Nox 800. Watched like 40 vids. This has been the simplest and most helpful. People so often just scroll through the controls as if the complete rookie even knows the words that are being said. Even in my own professional work setting, I try to talk as though the lay person has never heard the words I’m saying.
Hello Iffy Signals. The first thing I did after ordering my Nox 600 was watch videos such as yours and reading any info on metal detecting forums. After receiving my Nox, I took a picture of the quick reference pamphlet (included with detector) with my phone. This way I was able to refer to it when I needed to when out in the field. Don’t let this machine intimidate you. It doesn’t take long to get the hang of it. Keep up the great vids. _/
Used a Whites back in the Stone Age. Now that I am retired, I have the time to go play! Ordering the Nox 600 tomorrow, and this vid was excellent; made me feel very comfortable with my choice now! They have come a looong way! Thanks!
Brilliant and helpful video, thank you. I was actually sincerely regretting buying the 800 until I watched your video. I will no doubt watch this tutorial on several more occasions, time well spent whilst getting use to this new machine. Again thank you.
In Colorado, we had a pretty cold and snowy winter which caused many cancelled detecting days. So, i'm relearning the Nox 800 which I was introduced to last year. Your video is just what I needed. I'm saving it for review later on as well. Thanks!
i am watching all video on this topic going to get this one to hunt with..Learn much i can then i be ready for the field..I like all functions of this machine only HOBBY so i can do it all with this one machine..we do have a gold belt through this town i live in so i be able to look for pile of gold..I found everything with my Tek2 but no gold..i did find gold rings it a good relic metal detector i dig axes at 3 feet deep.but i sold it to buy this one.cant wait see how many different coils i can get to work with this machine
Hey Jerry, thanks allot. Sometimes when i’m making the comparisons I get questions like “is it easy to use”? Or the last one which prompted the video was how the Equinox was to complicated but the Vanquish was not waterproof. So i figured a simple breakdown would help.
Great basic video on how to get started. I just received my first real detector a equinox 800 2 days ago. Unfortunately it's been in the 20s and it snowed 6 inches. Yesterday it got to 40 melted some of the snow at the local park. So today my wife and out fury child are going to give it a go. I'm excited like a kid on Christmas day ☺
Very helpful just got one of these. Had an xterra 505. Headphone jack stopped working. Trying to get the 505 fixed by minelab and use it as back up machine or for tougher terrain since it's pretty light with the 18.75khz coil on it.
I have 4 friends that bought the Simplex and did not like it. Two of them bought a Nox 600 and another has his Simplex up for sale and is using a Deus. I'm using the Nox 800 and absolutely love it.
Thanks. I too am regretting buying the 800. The threshold is not a real threshold (except in gold mode) but I can't use single frequencies in gold mode (except 20 and 40) and I'm disappointed in the depth compared to my Sovereign. Oh well, it's only money. You did a great job explaining the features and I thought mine was defective until I saw yours blinking while being set up. You would think for that kind of money they would through in some instructions and a charger. With my old Eldorado 35 years ago I could find Indian head Pennys at 7 in. every day in the common in Salem Ma. I think those days are gone.
I can't believe what I'm hearing about the equinox. I have the Garrett AT pro, which is amazing, but these features are so much more advanced, which boils down to more knowledge of what's beneath the coil (I think I've only been doing this for two years lol) can't wait to get my equinox 700, I hike/explore a lot and want to be a little stealthy times my Garrett AT pro is too big and really can't conveniently collapse it. Love how the equinox could fit into a backpack. It's all good though. Don't mean to talk negatively about the Garrett ATP....
Hi Mike, just noticed as you were scrolling through the settings and there exactly like mine... the only difference was my speed recovery is set on 4.... great explanation bud it's really an easy machine to use
When buying an Equinox, you have to set aside enough money to replace the shaft with a carbon fiber upper/lower, coil ear strengtheners, screen cover, arm cuff, SureGrip, and wireless bluetooth earbuds (maybe I should have just bought a Vanquish 540). Great video Iffy!
Now if I'll just remember to do the noise cancel and the ground balance more often on my Nox than the never that I've been doing, hunting should go smoother 👍 Thanks for showing me that again ☺
Thanks, just got my nox 700 and when i turn it on after charging its screaming with numbers all over the place, might reset and dont see the little icons at the bottom of the screen when i try to figure it out.

@@IffySignals hi. Yeah it was definitely notched out but kept finding it still so notched a few either side of it but still found it. I was on multi mode but saw you was aswell and yours still worked.

Hi, thanks. With the 600 you will be fine in Park or Field 2. You will want to watch out for lower VDIs. Depending on the size of the ring. Gold can come in very low if small.
Good video! I’ve had the Equinox 800 for less than 2 months and it definitely has a learning curve but the basic preset modes are easy to understand. I am interested in adjusting the recovery speed in trashy areas to see what I can find. Thanks for the video, very informative:)
Thanks! Yea the factory presets work great. Once you are comfortable with the tones and IDs recovery speed and Iron bias are good to play with for trashy sites and opening it up more. TC, Mike
