G’day folks. I was a little remiss and carried away in the moment when I switched the detector back to field 1 to run over the shotty pellet. Because I run with such a notched out setting there was no way it was going to pick up the pellet. Sorry for the balls up on that little clip. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic! I was becoming disillusioned with my 800, but CBK you have given me back my inspiration to go back out and find my first piece of gold. Thank you 🙏
Hey Joanne keep it simple and use the factory settings, I like Factory Gold 1, notches out hot rocks and ferrous but still deadly on small gold. Don't be afraid to turn the sensitivity down in mineralized ground [16-18 ] or it will chatter like two gossips at a church picnic.
Gday Joanne. Sorry for the late response. It went straight to review. Glad it has given you some inspiration. They are a great machine. Good luck with the hunting 👍😁
G'day CBK! In the mid 90s I was doing a lot of detecting in the triangle but spent most of it around Wedderburn, and found a lot of nuggets ranging from a half gram up to 10 grams in one particular surfaced area, I always wondered what small ones I had left behind, I was using the sd2000 at the time, wish I could take a NOX 800 back to that place at that time and see what I left behind, and of course id like to be 30yrs younger as well, it wasn't unusual to find several nuggets in a day in that area, never came across another spot like it unfortunately, still, a great memory of a great time in the gold fields, its great to see that color coming out of the ground, even if its not me digging it! thanks Andrew! Cheers mate!
Glad you enjoyed watching it Wayne and that it made you think of great memories. It was a good bit of fun to do this video just to see what I could pull out with a lower end detector that has a gold option. Great little thing. Take care mate 😁👍
Hi Andrew. Just purchased an Equinox 800 today. Hoping to have a go at prospecting next week around the Castlemaine area. Can't wait. Great video, btw. It's exactly what I was looking for and the way you're recording everything is just perfect. Keep it up and thanks heaps. I've now subscribed.
G'day Andrew.Great to see you pulling up some Equinox gold. Something I haven't tried, living away from the goldfields.Great settings and tips for those who can get out there and have a go at the gold.Congrats on your golden finds in amongst all those lead shot pellets. Cheers mate.
Gday Gary. Don’t know why it has taken so long for me to give it a go on the gold settings. Now that I have I am finding I go to an area where there is both to do so when I want a break from chasing gold, I just flip over to relic mode and see what I can find. Thanks for watching cobber 😁👍
Gday Andy. You are right, it’s not a top end gold machine but it will find some and if it is in your pocket, then that is all the sweeter. Thanks for watching mate 😁👍
IDK if maybe someone already mentioned that but when you switched fields to park 1 to detect the lead pellet at 9min, and the detector was silent, you had 1 through about 14 discriminated out/off. Then switched back to gold where you have everything but iron turned on.
Incredible to see that. There is an area I want to take a look at from an old mine full of quartz. Wondering if there is any gold in all the quartz slag
THANK YOU... I have been trying for 3 years ... i have the bigger coil though. I go twice a year to the WA gold fields. I haven't found any gold and I must admit I give up easy... but you have given me hope to try harder.
Gday Pete. Thanks for watching mate. Very happy to find that last bit to finish off the video. Works well. Snagged another bit yesterday with it. Just a .135gm bit but it was good to find. Take care mate 😁👍
My equinox 800 (6 inch coil) finds gold at .46 grams @3-4 inches. My Gold Monster 1000 (5 inch coil) hits the same nugget @4-5 inches. So the VLFs won’t go deep like a PI but they are good enough for a surface scratcher.
Gday Stephen. They are both good surface scratchers for entry level machines. And with smaller coils we can put them in places bigger coils can’t go and find the bits others have left behind. Good luck mate 👍😁
I have a canvas sheet 30cmx30cm I scrape the spoils onto when detecting incase it’s tiny and falls back under leaf litter and also flip it back into the hole.
Gday mate, absolutely awesome Andrew, most people would say ohh that peace at the end was awesome, and it was, but I think the first one you found was a great find. Just by the shear size of it Goes to show the Nox is a powerful unit and you knowing your Machine, that’s the secret, take care mate 👍🍻
Gday Jim. The last bit was great to finish with but yes, that first bit is the one that says you are doing it right and boost the confidence way more then the size of the gold. Glad you enjoyed watching it mate. Take care 👍😁
Good to see the nox out on the gold CBK. You really don't see enough of it. It's a perfectly capable but underrated gold hunting machine. Well done on picking up a few. Might encourage a few people to get out and have a go at the shiny 👍

Hey Andrew how's it going , nice to see the nox 8 going great on the Gold ! I can't believe that I've been in the same mode gold 2 sen 15 and have ignored the low numbers in Mount crawford fossicking area but I only have the 11 coil so looks like I will have to 1 go back 2 get a 6 coil , thanks bushkid for your knowledge and effort , great work 👍 take care stay safe.
Gday Christopher. Glad this has helped. With the 6” coil there is less ground mineralisation to worry about and you have to dig the low numbers. If nought more, when you dig a shotty pellet, at least you know you are doing things right. Good luck with it all 👍😁
This is great Andrew always wanted to know how the nox 800 went finding gold. Thanks mate for sharing great video as always , hope you and Viv are both well. xo 🙂
Gday Deb. Glad you enjoyed watching it. Sorry to hear you haven’t been well. Doesn’t it cost a lot to have your detecting gland anesthetised. Hope you are out swinging soon. I know a little park that has predecimals in it😉😁👍
Yes, with the 3030 and the Nox one being 2.6 grm and was surprised to see it . Lot higher number then 2-4 had them up to 38.so yes they have found gold, Gold Sov, Gold Coins Gold nuggets. Good post thanks for sharing. Regards
At 9.34s in Field 1 you have nearly half the display notched/discriminated out, so its no wonder it's hardly hitting that pellet...I hunt with Field 1 wide open, and regularly get small shotgun pellets like that, plus tiny bits of foil and tiny shards of wire...I hit a pellet the other day and out of curiousity weighed it when I got home and it was .39grams...I should add that was with the standard 11" coil as well...
Thanks Peter. Yes it has been pointed out the error of my ways with the pellet. Was carried away with the moment and didn’t realise. Under 15 is notched out for my style of detecting in rubbish dumps and cherry picking so I only get the silvers and coppers in the areas I am hunting. Thanks for watching 👍😁
I went hell for leather trying to find gold when I first got my 800. Never found any, but did find a nice tungsten crystal. Will have to try again soon.
What a great hunt congrats on the Gold that is something that I want to do with the nox and it is nice to see how you have it set up and the signals you get thanks for the video 🍺🍺👍👍
Gday Scott. Glad you got something out of it mate. Nice machine to swing for gold on and if you can’t find any, push a button and go for relics. Beautiful. Take care mate 😁👍
Nice bit of gold there Andrew … it takes a lot of patience:) glad you were rewarded … I’ve tried gold mode a couple of times but so far it’s all been lead 😂😂 then I see some glass or something and get excited and switch to relic mode 😂 that last nugget was a ripper 👍🏻
Gday William. That is the beauty of the nox, you can do both. I’ve now been doing the same, shoot for a bit of gold then chase relics. Take care mate 😁👍
Hello Andrew thanks for the great tutorial on gold, my new place has glacial stone droppings , and many rivers so I will try for gold and your tips will help a lot. I noticed many detecting channels have switched to the Deus 2 as their main detector but I think that will work to your advantage as you are using the Nox 800 and many of us general public are Noxers . Over time the Noxerites will find your channel and like birds of a feather detect together and make your channel grow! Bye the way thanks for the Tee Shirt and Badges they look great , I will wear the shirt on my next beach outing for luck and stylish trend setting.
Gday Harry. Hope it helps in your new place. Yes a lot of people are moving to the Deus 2 but I won’t be. Glad the tee shirt arrived safe. Yes I reckon you will be a trend setter in the detecting community swinging down on the beach. Good luck with it all mate. Stay safe 🦘🦘😁👍
Hello, I have a question for you about the mineralization of the MINELAB EQUINOX 800 metal detector. This is not in the metal detector's manual in values which are more or less. My question is: The mineralization values of equinox 800 are from - 9 to 99, which values show more or less mineralization in the soil of those who are - 9 with higher soil mineralization or those who have 99?
G’day A M. My mate hasn’t got back to me yet but on the talk we had I will try to answer your question. The values you asked about are frequencies that the detector uses to combat the mineralisation in the ground. Factory preset is 0 in most field settings. When I manually ground balance I have never seen it go into negative numbers. I have seen it go way up when I have tried to ground balance on a target. So I would say that the higher the number, the more mineralisation there is. If you balance and it goes way over 50, move your coil to a different piece of ground and try again. Hope this helped. Happy detecting 😁
ah yes it was like "poetry in motion" watching you work the nox800 a lot of people tend to think of them as a "coin machine" but as you have proved its not its a machine for every occasion. my first piece of color with one was a 7.31grams, made my eyes open wide please refer to another youtuber "swinging with willy" he is pretty clued -up with the nox800 again riveting vid cheers all '
I live in Alaska. We only get about 3 months without snow and 24 hrs of sun. Unless I plan to prospect in the snow in the dark? Lots of different terrain and creeks, and rocky beaches. Looking for mainly gold, and also native artifacts. So with money aside. What do you recommend for an all-around detector with a coil? 6 in sounds nice! How do you like the DD coils? Would like some depth as well. Lots of mountain rock here? Your advice will be honored!. I found a 7.97-gram nug just by chance. Got the fever now. I'm only worried about a bear sneaking up on me at the creek or somewhere.🤠
Sorry mate. This comment went to 'held for review'. I would recommend the Minelab SDC2300 as an allrounder. It has an 8 inch coil and is sturdily built and can sniff out gold at a good depth, so your rocky conditions are covered. Good luck and watch out for the bears.
Howdy Andrew, You weren't prattling on. You were waxing lyrical. There isn't much gold to find here in Pennsylvania though I have read that there are places where you can find flakes and tiny nuggets that were deposited by glaciers during the last ice age. I don't think I have the patience to look for it. I'm going to stick with keyhole escutcheons and buttons. That was a great lesson if I ever change my mind and I really enjoyed the video. Hoping that you and Viv are doing well. Your buddy, Roelf
Gday Roelf. We are both well. Hope you and Mrs Roelf are too. Glad you got something out of it. Nothing wrong with escutcheons and buttons. I just got 4 pennies and a toy train this arvo up at rubbish dump gully. Lots of area to work there. Take care mate 🦘🦘👍😁
What a nice little chunky nugget there you scored for your efforts at the end. Great work Andrew, Ive never used the nox for gold. May I ask why you selected 14 as the sensitivity setting? Is this to do with the mineralization in the soil in the area you are working? What does the "tracking" feature actually do and do you have to ground balance the machine in noisy soil every 10 feet or so?
Sorry Mate. This comment went to the 'held for review' file. I was told by a mate at Minelab to set the sensitivity to between 14 and 16 whe chasing gold to deal with the mineralisation. The tracking feature continually ground balances so you don't have to keep doing it. Glad you enjoyed watching. Andrew
Hi Coffee Bush Kid. I have a Equinox 800 with the 11 inch coil. Would I have the same results on the 11 inch coil (as I have just got into it and don't want to invest in a 6 inch coil yet)? Thanks.
You can give it a try but the reason you go for a 6” coil is that with the 11” you will get more mineralisation coming back into the coil and making it more chirpy and hard to hear targets. You may have to turn the sensitivity further down to be able to hear anything. Also with the 6” you can poke it into smaller places where larger coils can’t go. Good luck with it all. You have a great machine 😁👍
I have the nox 800 and use it for gold prospecting. I use factory GOLD 1 setting because it notches out ferrous and hot rocks, in mineralized ground I run at about sensitivity 16-18 to stop it chattering. Another youtube channel author uses all metal 40 kHz and puts up with the chatter and says I'm missing a lot of gold because I'm losing depth. What do you think is it 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, i.e. I may miss some gold but I'm not constantly digging ferrous targets and sorting hot rocks, he does have me second guessing, even after 45 years of swinging a VLF. Your thoughts please and of course any one else.
Gday John. Sorry for the late response. It went to review and I haven’t looked at it for awhile. The boys at Minelab told me the 6” coil was the way to go but to realize that the depth would only be about 3” on small gold. If a nugget was bigger you would pick it up deeper. The 800 is a great versatile machine that does relics and gold. If you are worried about big nuggets deep down, maybe a full gold machine is the go. Good luck with your future hunts 👍😁
Hi Lavinia. Here is a link to it. www.saison.com.au/products/redecker-gardener-s-nail-brush?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucaVvIGv-AIVkwByCh13agQyEAQYASABEgLqVfD_BwE Hope that helps😁👍
Gday Mark. You could. I haven’t done it but you may need to tune your sensitivity down lower as you will be picking up more mineralization from the ground and making it more chatty. That’s why we use the 6” coil. Best of luck 😁👍
Gday Guy. Maybe borrow one for a weekend. I do have the 5000 but I am having fun with the nox. Got another bit yesterday and then chased relics with the same detector. Gotta love the nox. Take care mate 😁👍
@@TheCoffeeBushKid unfortunately got some busy work weeks ahead. Managed 2.7g today up near Inglewood including a nice 1.5g, lots of testing. Looking forward to having a day out chasing tokens and snake buckles. All the best
Every machine has different parameters it works in depending on the size of the gold. I would get in touch with a Minelab supplier to ask the salesperson more info. Good luck 👍
K mart do a great pet food scoop for $2 I have read this machine does will in mineralised ground, that alone would make it more appealing than the Gold Monster?
Awesome you to . Mick and I are off tomorrow to an old paddock I found the ring and old buckle last weekend. Hopefully we can find some more treasures. We be over soon to do the deal on the 6000 . Hopefully it can be when your at work? Anyway I’ll let you know. Cheers
I purchased the nox 800 after seeing it on UA-cam with Nugget Shooter from Arizona. It'll find many bbs but bugger all gold. So I went out with the Garrett 24k in the same area and dug nothing but gold puckers n nuggets. I guess these multi frequency detectors confuse themselves.
G’day folks. I was a little remiss and carried away in the moment when I switched the detector back to field 1 to run over the shotty pellet. Because I run with such a notched out setting there was no way it was going to pick up the pellet. Sorry for the balls up on that little clip. Thanks for watching.

please refer to another youtuber "swinging with willy" he is pretty clued -up with the nox800
again riveting vid cheers all

Thanks Rod. Glad you enjoyed watching it. Congrats on your nugget. That is a ripper. Will check Willy out. Take care mate 😁👍
Nice work mate 👌
Thanks cobber. 👍👍😁
Trabalho excelente 🇧🇷☺️
Your video is very good
Thank you for the video, O have question for Nox 800... The Coiltek is not better to find gold...?
I like the 6” Minelab coil better 😁👍
Andrew
@@TheCoffeeBushKid Thanks Andrew
wow brother what a find and ypu no that nox like the bk of your hand brother ture metaldetecting legend
Thanks brother Tezza. Don’t know why it has taken me so long to do this. Thanks for dropping by mate. Take care 🦘🦘😁👍
That’s awesome
Thanks Mark 😁👍
@@TheCoffeeBushKid thank you for the reply and information. 🙂
Hi.CBK, where can I purchase the brushes that you use. P.s I live in NSW..
Hi Lavinia. Here is a link to it. www.saison.com.au/products/redecker-gardener-s-nail-brush?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucaVvIGv-AIVkwByCh13agQyEAQYASABEgLqVfD_BwE
Hope that helps😁👍
Hi mate just a question I’m saving up for the 6 inch coil but ca I use the standard coil that comes with the nox to find gold
Gday Mark. You could. I haven’t done it but you may need to tune your sensitivity down lower as you will be picking up more mineralization from the ground and making it more chatty. That’s why we use the 6” coil. Best of luck 😁👍
Great work to get a few with the Nox mate. When is Dave going to give you a 6000 to tear those coffee bush hills apart?
All the best
hello how's it going. I'm looking to get a machine for gold. what's the deepest they will detect?
Every machine has different parameters it works in depending on the size of the gold. I would get in touch with a Minelab supplier to ask the salesperson more info. Good luck 👍
K mart do a great pet food scoop for $2 I have read this machine does will in mineralised ground, that alone would make it more appealing than the Gold Monster?
You then have the bonus of chasing relics with it too 😁
@@TheCoffeeBushKid LOL if I ever find my first piece of gold I'll move onto to relics. Are you going to Pete's Gold Adventures meetup?
Yes I think I will be there on the Saturday 👍
@@TheCoffeeBushKid Great I will have my new 800 by then, might bend your ear a little, cheers!
Was the weight in grams or ounces?
It was on grams Ashley. 😁👍
@@TheCoffeeBushKid thank you :). Great finds
Enjoyed the video I’m taking my nox 800 with 6in coil to the river tomorrow might find something ⛏️🇺🇸🕳️
May ask why set 2
For the life of me I can’t remember. Gold 1 is for fine shallow gold. Gold 2 is for bigger deeper gold. All up it worked well. Thanks for watching 👍😁
In your field one setting you have the lower numbers turned off
Someone else said that. So used to those settings I didn’t realise. Too caught up in the moment 😁👍
Could make a rap song with that tune old mate haa . Great video not a lot out there with the 800 on gold. Cheers
Gday Paul. Viv laughed at the rap. No. No there aren’t a lot out there are there 😉😉. Happy hunting mate 👍😁
Awesome you to . Mick and I are off tomorrow to an old paddock I found the ring and old buckle last weekend. Hopefully we can find some more treasures. We be over soon to do the deal on the 6000 . Hopefully it can be when your at work? Anyway I’ll let you know. Cheers
decent return for a day's detecting - I've seen the pro's detecting for gold watching other videos(sweltering heat), back to the norm, next time?
Thanks for watching Dean. Been something I’ve been meaning to do for a little while. Hope you are well mate 🦘🦘😁👍
@@TheCoffeeBushKid OK in general, wish petrol come down in price !
When you compared gold to field you were notched out so you wouldn't hear it anyway.
Good point. Didn’t think of that. Thanks👍😁
🙂
Only 4250x shot to go and you will be able to afford 2 schooners with a wine chaser. LOL
Why gold2 not gold1 any real reason
For the life of me Laurie I can’t remember why I did it that way. In the 900 video I did it the other way round 😁👍
Blah, blah, blah…..RATTLE! Would be very rude to leave those there!
It would indeed Dug. 🤣🤣😉🦘🦘😁👍
