I actually ended up picking up this game because of your videos, and can confidently say that I tied the TAS time on the first fight on my first try! I then lost to Von Kaiser, but hey, who's counting. Turns out this game is harder than the TAS and speedruns make it look.
Maaan, you are just crazy! In the best possible way, what a mastery of the tools, of the game, of the knowledge. Just simply impressive. To be honest, I never even had thought about this type of speedrunning to be a category in itself. Amazing.
Thanks, afaik its not a category (yet) infact ive never seen it done for another game either. This might be the first of its kind. Punch-Out does lend itself to be a rather quick game to TAS though if you already know exactly what you need to TAS.
Looking back, it was a bit interesting making it as fast as I could... I initially thought it might take like 4-5 hours, But then i adjusted my estimate to like 90 mins after an attempt that died to forgetting the TAS strat on Bull 2. My mind was definitely feeling the fatigue after the run though.
I've tried this like 4 times and each time the run dies at Honda 1. I can miraculously get past 1 max damage, but there's always 2 more awaiting me lmao
Smearing is definitely a good speed strat. But you also see i have habits of keeping my TAS sheets neat, which is better if you need to make some slight corrections.
A rumor from when I was a kid was that you know the patterns coming by watching their feet. I think it went by how many times they shuffled their feet. Is that true or was that just some kid lying to my face?
You cant tell what fork in the RNG they are going to do by watching their feet. The feet movement is on a cycle, so if the next move is guaranteed (with a guaranteed timer, you can use it to time stuff... This was used in a couple of old strategies on Great Tiger and Piston Honda 2
I wish you used RTA time for this run! oh wait, that's mchazard's job, making new strats, not the point of this tas, sorry. I misunderstood. (This is a joke this was very cool to watch)
cant wait for the mike tyson's punch out tas speedrun to be given a tas
Might blow up the universe for being self-referential.
Just broke my brain
This is just actually amusing. Well when you compared to how long it takes a normal TAS to be created.

@@Papamanual super mario bros is also an interesting game to "speedtas" (assuming l+r)
TAS speedrun? TAS speedrun.
Tool-Assisted Speedrun Speedrun, I like the sound of that.
Neat! I had not seen a TAS being made before and didn't realize it was such an aural hellscape for the creator.

Can’t wait to see the tas version of this
Playing with forces beyond comprehension

i love how he just smears buffered attacks all over the TAS, since it doesn't actually matter what frame the attack lands on, lol

I so so so wish I could tas DOS games with the same frame-by-frame program
Should've done savestate practices first tbh
How about you do your savestate practice and take this record from me aswell huh!!!!!!!!!!
If I beat your record will I get untold riches beyond my wildest dreams?
Lol probs not... But if enough people continually keep beating the record, Ill make a World Record Progression for it.
I counted how many times it took to get that 2nd random punch on Bald Bull II. 48 attempts for it to go through Bull’s guard. So crazy.
this is GOAT tier stuff right here....

🤜🏼👊🏼🤛🏼
If it weren't for the copy-paste rule...
hey, i want to do a tas of this game in fceux, but when i open the tas editor, the emulator crashes, pls answer
ive never had that issue, so im not sure.
This pretty cool, You should try to improve tas.
and i thought completing a TAS of a game in 1wk was fast…
Was there research done in that 1 week?
