This was a fantastic series Pap! Fun fact, aside from Matt Turk, I am the only other runner who has held the record for every single fight in this game, and as such, I've been mentioned as a record holder at least once in every one of Pap's videos in this series (unless it's one of the trivial huge ties like Glass Joe lol). I even had a point where I held every record at the same time, another thing which only Turk had done.
Seeing Matt Turk absolutely rinse Mike Tyson on a shaky camera goes a long way to show why everyone was happy to believe he took all the other records at his stated times, too.
No joke, some of his times were mere frames away from the best TAS of his time, so he might as well be on par, say for imperfections unsolved even today.
Pap's videos have been way more detailed than say, SummoningSalt's, for good reasons. Salt's videos are for absolutely everyone including people who will never play MTPO, he needed to be a little more brief to get the pacing right for someone absolutely oblivious to what the game even is. You seem to have found the perfect way to explain it in much greater detail without being too drawn out or confusing, just at the cost of someone most likely needing to watch another video of yours(more specifically the video on why the perfect run is impossible) if they know absolutely nothing about MTPO. Appreciate the content, I have watched every MTPO video of yours at least once now. I'm hooked.
I appreciate that you think ive found the correct way to way to pace my videos and explain stuff. I dont find it terribly difficult to explain stuff, but im always unsure of the best or most concise way to say it, and do it without no ambiguity.
This has been an astoundingly helpful video series -- thank you, Pap! I want to call out the accessibility of Pap's work -- Blind person here (no vision), and Pap's videos are absolutely accessible to me. Pap even explains the flowcharts in enough detail for me. I mean I know I am not the target audience but it just goes to show that Pap's goal is explaining this game, the nuances, to as many people as he can. Using Pap's and Sinister's videos, I have been able to reliably beat the game and to round-1 all except Tyson (Tyson round 2, using Jack Wedge buffers). Childhood Hippo embarrassment revenge. :) A fun/extra challenge is that I have to learn this all from content that's accessible to me, so like text, videos with descriptions like Pap's and Sinister's... Pap, if you read this, or you can help with a super niche request: A tutorial or text or pointer to how to Round-1 Tyson using only audio? Would be amazing. I am ready to practice the delayed hits, I just can't figure out when (in what situations) to use the double quickdodge so that I'm not guessing. Thank you!
Its one thing to play this game blind once youve learn it, but to learn it blind is super impressive. Unfortunately, I really give you any tips on beating Tyson in Round 1 blind - I have not done it myself. However, assuming you get the most common pattern (which involves 6 punches) I would use the double quick dodge on uppercuts 3, 4 and 5, and then on the loop back to 1. If you do get a short delay on uppercut 4, you know you are in that 6 punch loop. If you dont, then after uppercut 3, he looped back to 1, so you will have to adjust. Its by far the toughest feat to do blind, and im not sure if I can really convey that with just text.

Thanks for showing all the history of each of the Punch-Out fights. It was a blast going through all the videos and seeing how everyone progressed over the years. About the same time Summoning Salt got his 14:55.00 full game speedrun, but seeing that run was so fun to watch I had to look more into the game. This was quite a blast. ✊
Ironically the last fight has one the least interesting strategies. Hit 21/22 frame perfect punches, and time those dodges as tight as possible to hope to get an extra uppercut in the final phase. It's less like a story of learning new strategies and more a story of individuals doing difficult accomplishments. Good video Pap.

Yes, Tyson needs basically perfect RNG for sub 2, and yes Sandman hasn't remotely been TAS'd that low. Pap has a video on the odds of a theoretical perfect MTPO run, and while Tyson sub 2 is at the edge of feasible for humans (requiring fairly ridiculous luck and nerves of steel), Sandman is not even close even with perfect RNG and perfect play.
Dude I remember one time there was an interview that was published where they had the real Mike Tyson play Mike Tyson and we're basically saying don't feel bad if you can't beat it because neither can Mike Tyson.
As a former MTPO player, I've never understood the hatred of Mr. Dream by the community. I mean, your goal is to beat the game, not a person. The two characters are functionally identical, like Pap says, the only difference being a color palette change. The record for one is the same as the record for the other. Why does it matter so much to so many to beat the cartridge that was released BEFORE the actual Mike Tyson lost in Tokyo as opposed to the one that was sold afterward? They're the same in every way that matters! I just don't get it.
Mike Tyson is cooler. It's basically just the hype that he had in the late 80's. tbh, the amount I care that the record could be on Mr Dream is pretty minimal.
I don't have proof other than the word of childhood friends, but I discovered this when I was a kid, probably 89 /90. I was the only one in my friend group that could do this and it was kind of the sleepover trick I would do. I was amazed a few years back when I found out what I was actually doing and how few people had done it. I also had a notebook full of "newspaper codes" that I was able to crack / predict. I'm sure nobody is going to believe this because I definitely wouldn't if someone was telling me this without proof.

@@Papamanual That sounds worth waiting for, keep up the great work!
So why isn't Don Flamenco 1 called One Flamenco?
Because it takes two to flamenco.
Dude I remember one time there was an interview that was published where they had the real Mike Tyson play Mike Tyson and we're basically saying don't feel bad if you can't beat it because neither can Mike Tyson.
YESSSSS DTysonator's origin story at last
Loved the intro pap
1:30:23 The immortal words of Jonas Neubauer live on
As a former MTPO player, I've never understood the hatred of Mr.
HE LISTENED TO SALT LET’S GO
Thank you lord mpap posted !!!
why i click on this and there's no summoning salt music
INTEND YOUR PUNS
53:22 This would have made a great birthday gift if I was there.
Could we get world record progression of all of The Super Punch Out and Punch Out Wii Fights?
I wont be doing those games, I know barely anything about them.
I thought I clicked salt's video and then looked at the date💀
Now do super punch out, punch out wii, and doc louis punch out
Yes I have been waiting thank you pap😭
never thought I'd see the day...
I would have love to have seen the odds of salts run vs the TAS. I know the TAS tie won't happen but would have been good to see.
I think salts run is like 1/4000 ish maybe. TAS is like 1/150,000 off memory.

Damn, 2 A.M., IN THE MORNING? 😮
Salt should just be the trolliest person ever and only run on Mr. Dream now

what is this timestamp
@@gairisiuil User in chat that I see literally everywhere including some relatively obscure places
@@BoltTheEmolga the timestamp that is outside of the runtime of the video?
@@gairisiuil…I typed the timestamp off memory instead of copy-pasting, on mobile so I couldn’t look at it while making the comment. I think was 1:29 not 1:59. Editing. My bad.
@@gairisiuilOkay I see my mistake, was 1:29:57 instead of 1:59:27. Mixed two digits together when I couldn’t see it and brain just poofed.
legendary
1:15:03 I appreciated this joke
