To summarize my learnings today. You have showed us 3 ways to "output" a tweak to the black masked curve adjustment layer: 1) to output to a brush, 2) to output to a gradient tool, 3) to output a layer mask mode. Thank you!
I remember watching this tutorial four months ago. Just watched it again today and was able to glean even more out of it. This technique (going back over your tuts at some time in the future) helps further build your confidence and skill in using TK panels
I am in love with the TK Friday stuff !!!. You are the best explaining how to tweak it. This curves technique in combination with the blending modes is extremely handy. The gradient one is amazing !!!. Fantastic as usual, Dave. Thanks ever so much for your time.
Hi Dave.. Another great tutorial..! I very much like the gradient tool being deployed to darken highlights & protect shadows. An effective alternative to blend-if. Thank you.
Wonderful, simply wonderful. Every time I watch your videos, I incrementally get better at using the TK8 plugin. The calm way you go about making these adjustments, matches the photo in today's video. Great job Dave!
As always, something new to learn and not disappointed this week - or any other for that matter. The highlight is the use of the gradient tool with a mask. This is a real tip as I have always used Blenif. This is much better and gives more artistic control. Now looking forward to working through the image and using the new gradient tip on my own. Thank.
Happiness is TK Friday. Dave you nailed another informative, excellent tutorial. I always learn something new with each tutorial you post. Thanks Dave!
Outstanding & fun, as usual. Not only the "how" of the TK Panel, which you have done so well, but now I enjoy even more the "what to do" on images. Also liked the top & bottom darkening using masks and alway love the masking tool to try different masks. I'm a BIG fan. Thanks so much!
Hello Dave still an excellent tutorial with a very beautiful image of Carlo Freddi, I really liked the gradient technique, again thank you for spending time making these tutorials.
Another great TK Friday Dave. Thank you. I really look forward each week to your new tips and also new methods to improve on previous week's tips such as using a lights 1 mask when using the gradient tool and adding in the use of the Layer Mask Mode tool when lightening the image mid-tones. This one is particularly valuable to me when printing a photo (which I don't do a lot of) because I have to use the exposure slider in Lightroom to brighten the image before printing otherwise the print is too dark. The problem there is now the entire image is brighter and I lose some contrast making it look flatter. Using the midtone 1 or 2 mask protects my lights and darks thus maintaining contrast and depth but lightening the midtones and getting a decent print. Cheers.
Kinda of nice...I am starting to keep up with you on some of these tutorials! What a nice feeling. Thanks so much Dave for all of the help and guidance and taking time to respond to our questions. I especially like using the Layer Mask Mode (how cool is that) and using the Gradient Tool with the TK8 Plugin makes a BIG of difference. Have a great weekend!
Hello Dave, great demonstration on how to build more depth into an image. The original photo was great and had a lot of potential. I liked the way you used the linear gradient tool to close the top and bottom sections of the image. TK Friday is the best. Cheers!
Hi Dave, Inspiring and great video. I do have a question though. When adding the gradients to the top and the bottom of the image, can you not add 2 gradients to the one layer instead of starting off again with a second curves/multiply layer with a black mask?
Yes Keith. You can make a copy of a pixel layer or pull the image together with a Stamp Visible Layer (Stamp Visible Layer Icon on the CX or Combo Panel) and apply a Gaussian Blur by Clicking on the Blur Icon on the CX or Combo Panel. Next I would Hide the Layer by placing a Black Mask on it. Then you could choose a Luminosity Mask or any Type of Mask and Output to a Black Mask Painting Thru a Selection with a White Brush.
Absolutely brilliant. Another great tutorial. I really liked what you did with the gradient and the mask. You might be able to do the same thing with Blend If but I like your method better. I love TK Fridays.
Hi Dave just one question. Yesterday I made the "Before and After" button and everything worked fine. Today, when I try to use it a pop up appears saying "the command select is not currently available". What does it mean?. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance

Dave, you have discovered a REAL GEM here i.e. using the Gradient tool with TK8. This opens up some possibilities I've not explored yet. Thank you.
