I missed this video for some reason so I am playing catchup today. There were a couple of lightbulb moments for me again, so thanks again Dave for your excellent work for us folks on the TK8 panel.
Another jewel from your education master class. I have to admit that before I started to watch your TK8 videos, I was trying to get some sort of the desired result with the help of various applications - Luminar (all versions), ON1, Capture 1, Affinity.... well, just name it and had it. But.. after your little tricks and clear and fluid tutorials, I narrowed it down back to Photoshop. TK8 is giving us so much freedom and flexibility that literately, we can say, the sky is the limit for anything we want. I am closely following all your other tryouts with Topaz, textures, and combinations for your favourite topic - flowers... but still - I can't wait for TK Friday every week. Keep up with excellent work, Dave - you are the One and only.... :-) Enjoy.....
Hello Dave, thank you for yet another excellent TK Friday video. For me, the key learning was how you used various selection tools to refine your masks. Your explanations are clear and concise and I appreciate your enthusiasm. Cheers!
Thanks, Mr. Kelly. The use of that Mask the Mask tool was a very useful tip. As always, you came up with a valueable class. Best regards from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.
Thanks for this episode. "Mask of Mask" is all new to me. Very powerful. "Photo filter" is another new learning today. wonderful tool! I have been following your TK Friday channel for a few months. Very helpful. Thanks again.
Every time I watch one of your tutorials I marvel at the level of control and refinement that is possible with the TK8 panel. Thanks again for the clarity of description and demonstration.
Man o man... Another fantastic video. Every minute full of new valuable info. Have to compliment your teaching style again. Friday has become favorite day of my week. Now motivated to get out this weeken, take some photos, and hurry back into photoshop and TK8. Thanks Dave so much.
Once again, another great video. I keep learning every Friday. I really like that mask the mask tool and was glad to learn about it today. Thanks again Dave.
Another great TK8 video. Thank you for expanding my knowledge of the panel and explaining things in such a down to earth and understandable way. I think I've said it before, Tony made an amazing tool, and you've helped make it so useful to so many.
Dave you are absolutely amazing. Your great tutorials have gone so far to help me in my post processing. I bought TK8 using your promo code based of your expert guides. Thanks again.
Hi Dave: Thank you so much for creating and sharing these techniques. After viewing this video, my comfort and confidence in refining masks has increased expotentially. Have you considered doing any 1:1 mentoring for your viewers. There are still some concepts that I am getting tripping up on. Cheers, Keith
Another great tutorial Dave ........ After watching your videos for so long, its getting to the point where I can only use Photoshop through the TK8 Panel 🤣
As always, you bring your knowledge down to your knees and the ease with which you convey it. Thanks to your videos, I slowed down and stopped looking at my photos nervously before editing. I also stopped being nervous if something goes wrong, I just go back to the step where everything was well done. The knowledge you convey allows you to consciously shape the image according to my vision, not the engineers of the camera I have. It was usually an informative video about the TK8 panel. As usual, I greet you from the currently cloudy and rainy Poland from the city of "Fortress Przemyśl". Ps. I am currently learning to work on the CLiR panel on the subject of infrared photo processing. As someone said, "a photographer is a person who is always looking for something and a constant student of seeing light and its registration".
Thanks Dave! I never have used the mask the mask tool. Appreciate you showing us how that works. I know you could lasso the selection you want to keep, do an inverse select and fill with black but this is definitely easier to do. This will come in very handy.
These videos are such an amazing idea, so helpful. Thanks so much Dave, it’s the best way to learn how to use software, and what a great piece of software a tk8 panel really is. Greetings from the UK.
This was great, Dave! You learn something new each Friday. I was asking myself when using the masking the mask button, how can avoid the feathering when making a selection? And you answered it today. That alone is an extremely useful and powerful tool. Thanks so much Dave for showing that. Fantastic!
Another Friday treat. I am amazed at the level of refinement available in the TX8 Panel. This is taking my editing to a whole new level and your tips and tutorial are making it a great joy to use. Love 'Multiply'. A really useful quick fix and one that I have never used before. Dave, thanks for another great video.
Thanks again Dave, really excited to try the mask the max tool, have never used that feature on TK8. I'm not expert on birds either Dave but what you called the collar I think is the throat 🙂
You’re welcome Marcello. Here is the video link ua-cam.com/video/INQcl4JFAQI/v-deo.html and you will find a link to download the action in the description.
Hey Dave, I have a brush question/observation. Most of the time you use the brush’s opacity and you pick your brush up to reapply more paint. I often use the brush’s flow setting, set to a low setting so I don’t have to pick up my brush. I guess it is just personal preference, but do you ever use a brush’s flow setting like this, are there specific circumstances where you will use flow vs. opacity. I suppose it doesn’t matter or does it?
I do use the brushes flow setting but I mainly use it when I am dabbling with actual painting like in Corel Painter. I have used it with Photoshop too but not as much. I will have to experiment with it some more.
Can I do a split of lumonisity to mask across 3 layers. Eg split the shadows, midtones, highlights to 3 separate layers to edit? So if all 3 are active, it looks like a perfectly normal image with no transparency since all 3 add up to the total image? And I'm curious on what 1-6 means. and 1-3. Is 1, 2, 3 meaning midtones 1 = darker side of middle, midtones 2 = middle grey is the middle, mid3 is highlight side of middle. 6 is either full darks, full brights, and 1's are midtone to either end bright/dark?
Amazing. subbed!!! quick one i tried mask the mask and yours comes up with Feather Selection whereas mine when i do it, it shows Gaussian Blur. and it doesnt cut the selection properly. it cuts the exactly as where you draw the lasso tool. pls advise. thanks heaps. appreciate your response.
If you have TK9 and want to feather the mask, use the Gaussian Blur to feather the mask. Simply pull the slider to the right and you can add as much feathering as you need. In TK8 the feathering was applied for you, but sometimes you don't need feathering. Tony changed the amount in TK9 to no feathering and leaves it up to the use to decide how much feathering they want.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly thanks for the reply Dave. yes, I have the TK 9. maybe TK 9 is using Gaussian Blur instead of TK 8 which uses Feather selection Dialog box in your videos. but thanks . sorry a noob.🙂
