Happiness is TK Friday. For me, the “take away tip” is Mask-the-Mask. Very helpful and once I perfect this, will solve some masking problem I have. Your easy to follow teaching is much appreciated. Thanks Dave!

Another fabulous tutorial. It is amazing how you continue to find new tricks to teach us. I especially like the idea of using the colour grading tool with blend modes. Thanks for all of your efforts Dave.

Another great tutorial. Just wanted to give a big thanks to you for keeping this series going. I am sure a lot of effort goes in to making these tutorials which I don't want to take for granted.

Hey Dave, Jose here late to the game. Hurricane Fiona put me in "clean up after mode" and I also got sick. The hurricane put another dent here in Puerto Rico. But that's over now, and I got to see this video. As always, excellent! Having said that, this video reminded me of those cheat sheets that I used to buy at a book store that covered different subjects of interest. They were like quick reference guides to shortcuts one could use to understand certain topics ranging from science, math and other stuff. They were nicely printed and laminated at a good price point. Even though you're currently making PDF guides in the TK Fridays, maybe down the road together with Tony Kuyper could muster up something along that line. Maybe TK8 quick tip guides on how to tackle difficult situations in Photoshop, or maybe something like: If you want to achieve this, then use this combination. I don't know, maybe I could be wrong or one can do it by downloading the PDFs and laminating them. But I actually had the instruction manual printed in color with nice binding at an Office Depot store. I. have it as a permanent reference manual for myself to quickly understand something on the TK8 panel.

Thank you, Dave for another great TK8 Friday full edit. I just purchased the TK8 Plugin with videos using your discount code. It will be quite a learning curve. I've watched your TK8 Friday videos on UA-cam for a while now. I really like watching them using the image and PDF info. It will help me get up to speed with this great plugin.

Thanks for anther TK8 Friday video. Nice gentle edit which is more nuanced and transforms a great image to an even better one. No major bells and whistles, just good, sympathetic, post production. I notice that you no longer mask for success but mask as and when required. I still tend to mask areas that I think may need attention at the outset, usually sky, foreground and any standout objects. There again, your method of masking as you go along may be a better workflow. Anyway, have learned something new, which is all I can ask for.

hello, I see all of your videos about TK8: cogratulations for your good explanations ---- I've been here (Deadvlei) and one of the more amazing things is that the "sand" where are the trees is not sand but WHITE mud (not yellow) 😊I got a FIAP gold medal with a photo of those trees taking advantage of that : the white surface bounces to the trees the golden light of sunrise, giving them a wonderful golden touch ---- the dunes of sand, yes, those ones are the usual yellow

    Hi Dave
Spent several days in Soussusvlei as part of a National Geographic photo shoot Deadvlei is only a small part of the park! I edited my book before TK8. May need to revisit. Btw the trees are almost all black and the sand is much darker than your edit. Sun direction changes everything. Best shoots for me were in infrared!

Hi Dave. Another great tutorial, thank you. What makes this one special is that I was fortunate enough to photograph Deadvlei at the beginning of the year and have only edited a few of my images. So guess what....

Another belter Dave…! Always learning.. love TK’s mask the mask technique & your mask refining by inverting whilst still selected… Obvious… Maybe but I for one was blind until now.. Also very interested in the use of the CGT to tackle darks &.lights in the scree/multiply mode… Great stuff… ps.. set up Browser Proofing & very handy indeed…… Highly recommend 👍.

Great video I love TK Friday.
Idea for a TK Friday and that is to use the TK panel on a black and white image. It seems to me that the panel can be used to refine a black and white image.

Another excellent tutorial. Thanks so much, Dave. The more I follow your full edits the better can I memorize your technique and steps.
In the final image there seems to be kind of halo in the line between the sky and the dunes. I remember an episode where you showed how to eliminate it easily. Could you give us a hint?

I have been a TK user for several years recently upgraded to TK8. I have been following your TK Fridays series for some time and have really enjoyed them and learned a lot. I am a Gigapixel wall mural photographer and most of my images that I am editing are multiple gigapixels in size. I have a Hexcore computer with 128GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 970 GPU along with a 1TB SSD drive that I have PS set to use as a scratch drive. I also have two rotating drives as secondary scratch drives. I find that on large images it doesn't take many action layers using TK8 to fill up the 1TB SSD scratch drive and PS bogs down to a crawl. I have PS set to use 86125MB of the RAM and history states to 15.
Are there better settings in PS that will us less scratch drive space?

Dave two things: First I think you should consider writing a book..."The Joy of Editing With The TK Plugin"...I guess you are writing the book... each Friday. Second thing is a question. I like the first tip where you used the Lasso Tool, inverted the selection and then Masked the Mask to fully blackout the part of the mask you wanted black. Very cool. I assume you initially used a Color Mask to start off this selection to show us this technique/Tip, but you could have just used the Select Sky function and outputted that to the Color Grading Interface or is there also another reason why you chose to use a Color Mask to start this selection that I should consider? Thanks Dave - and I'll buy the first 10 copies of your book and hand them to my friends.

Thanks Mario and you are right. I just wanted to show a different way of masking the sky plus I didn't want to have to mess around with the refining of edges with the sky selection. In the end I think this selection method was quicker.

If I could have "my cake and eat it to," I'd like it if the sliders in the great TK8 Panel were incremental in real time. Currently it's not quite as accurate for me (but still great!)

One thing that confuses me is when to use fill versus opacity as on soft pop. I almost always reduce opacity on soft pop to decrease the strength. What does fill do differently?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 роки тому

Good question Philip. The Fill adjustment on Soft Pop will be a really aggressive adjustment and it is great if you need to turn up the effect, which you can't do with Opacity. Most of the time I just use opacity and it gives you a more controlled adjustment. A slight movement using Fill will be more aggressive that when you use Opacity.
