Hi Dave, thanks for this. The more different photo edits I watch, the better my understanding of all the various ways the panel can be used. Outstanding channel, well paced and clear explanations. Well done!
Hi Dave I am a landscape photographer this is my favourite tutorial i have learnt a lot thank you very much
Dave -- Thank you for demonstrating how to create the channels, use the mask calculator and adjust the colour and tones of the subject using the colour grading tool. I am beginning to appreciate the power of using the Tk 8 pane!! Thanks again for another great Tk Friday Tutorial!!
First-class demonstration, Dave. Thank you. I will watch again.
I love TK8 Fridays!!!
I don't know how you do all this learning and videos - very good - a lot to learn
Getting better every Friday. Well done!
Masterclass. I am bookmarking this one.
,,,was totally worth the video length,,,learned so much. Thank you Dave.
Thanks Dave. I always learn something new from your tutorials. Keep up the great work.
Dave - every one of these you do is better than the previous ones. But you have set the bar pretty high with this video. Tons of new things to learn especially the way you use the mask calculator and the intersect option. Well worth viewing this one more than once and taking copious notes while following along.
Thanks Steve.
Hi Dave: Another great video. I really liked seeing and understanding your approach to editing this image via TK8. I certainly have a number of images that will benefit from the techniques that you have utilized in this composition. Admittedly, I may have to watch this video several times to get a firm grasp of the concepts. But to me, that is the best part of your teaching style. Cheers, Keith
Thanks Dave, every yours video is,for me, a little step to become a good photographer....👍
Great to hear!
Looked great, I love TK Fridays
Thanks Dave another great Tutorial. Since I have been watching your TK Friday segments I really do not know how I did Post Processing without the TK Panel.
And thanks to Tony Kuyper for the Panel. Absolutely amazing.
I would just like to add that your teaching method is perfect for me. TK Friday is the highlight of my week.
Thank you Geoffrey.
This might be the best one yet! Thanks Dave!!
Thanks Mark.
This is brilliant stuff Dave! I've always struggled with the intersection piece of the calculator, but feel like I have a much better grasp of it now (after watching the video 3-4 times). Thank you so much for putting out fantastic content sir!
Hi Dave, Man that was amazing! I've been using the calculator on some of my images and sometimes I fumble a bit thinking that something in my edit can't be done. You've proved me wrong. This video gave me more confidence to just experiment and try something following my gut feeling. To my surprise, things come out right! The calculator tool alone is worth the price of admission in my view. The TK8 panel and the educational videos are amazing.
Thanks Jose. Once you get the hang of the calculator you will use it all of the time. I have grown to become a big fan of it.
thx you very much ive learned more from you than tony or sean
Learnt something new today, thank you Dave 🙏
I love TK8 and your Friday videos. Thank you, Dave,!
You are welcome Josef.
Very good and funny videos bring a great sense of entertainment!
Dave, an excellent tutorial demonstrating the power and flexibility in Tony's panel. I really especially the ability to have access to a file to follow your procedures and your very complete descriptions of your editing process.
Super tutorial, Dave. Thx much for posting
Superb tutorial Dave!
Thanks Martin. Tomorrow’s TK Friday video is all about Selections. I will be covering a lot of ground.
Great Technique!! Thanks, I learned a lot!
Again, I have learned a lot! Thanks
Happiness is TK Friday. Wow. So many helpful tips. You packed some great techniques into each tutorial. THANKS!!! FYI. I caught your Bob Ross reference - excellent.
Thanks you.
A M A Z I N G !!! 😳👏. As usual, fantastic !!!!!
Thanks Jose.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly The difficulty level !!!. I have to visualize this chapter a few times more, I am afraid ;-)
@@lookforbeauty1964 it may take some time Jose. Just take it one step at a time. I know you’ll get it.
Always looking forward to Friday and TK Friday. Thanks again Dave.
You are welcome David.
Dave - Friday night here in Vietnam is my favorite as I end the work week to tune in with TK Fridays and Large Format Fridays. Given I shoot only film, I'd like to request a TKF episode on removing the dreaded white "DUST". The use of the calculator and color grading is now an addition to my PS workflow. Thank you and Tony.
Pretty amazing.
Thanks for the feedback Tom.
Thanks!
Dave...thanks so much for the explanation on the calculated masking. I had been playing with it lately and didn't quite grasp all the concepts. But your quick lesson showed me exactly what I needed. Keep up the good work of the deep dives into the intricacies of the TK8. Very much appreciated.
You’re welcome Mickey and I’m glad to help.
Thank you for this video. I learned a lot about the calculator and how to use it. I am going to have to watch this a few times to catch it all.
Wow!
Great work Dave.... Love the 1.5 mask technique. Saves time over slider adjustments & pinpoints those intermediary tones perfectly.
Thanks. I have to give the credit to Tony Kuyper for that one. I agree it is a great technique.
Great tutorials Dave. Finally getting a handle on TK actions. Wonderfull tool. All the best.
Thanks Dave; this again is a superb tutorial on TK8 useage. A big thank you for the capture download. These images, that we can download, provide a necessary tool to actually practice your TK8 techniques. Being a wildlife and bird photographer, this is like a hanging curveball YES, YES, YES, HOMERUN.
You are welcome Doug and thanks for the feedback.
Another superb video Dave. It's so very helpful when you introduce new techniques and new TK features.
Thank you Donald.
I love the TK Friday. Thank you Dave. It's amazing!
You are welcome. I don't know what I would do without the TK panels. It takes some time to learn them but once you do they unlock a whole new world of Photoshop editing.
I’m really enjoying and learning A LOT from these TK videos Dave, thank you!!
I am glad you are learning and I am equally glad to help. Thanks Thelma.
Thank you very much! Excellent tutorial Dave. I really appreciate all your tutorials specifically TK Friday
You're welcome. I really love making the TK Friday videos.
ありがとうございます!
Thank you for the Super Thanks.
Another great tutorial. Since purchasing the TX8 PLUGIN my whole approach to post processing has changed. Love the idea of 'Masking for Success' and makes me analyse my image before editing. Do you any videos on the best approach too image analysis or point me to some that will help?
Thanks Dave,
An excellent video again.
I watched it for now and will try it myself tomorrow.
I can use this in my landscape photo editing.
You’re welcome Hans.
Hello Dave, I have viewed this fantastic tutorial several more times, and I’ve gotten something new out of it each time. I’m fairly proficient with Photoshop, and I’m becoming more confident with the TK8 panel and the incredible power of the various masks it can create. However, after having just watched the video again, it’s even clearer to me that my editing Achilles’ heel is the analysis of the trouble spots, such as what you did with the 7-item list at the beginning of the video. I don’t recall seeing any tutorials on how to analyze an image like that. The glaring ones are obvious, but I often overlook the subtle difference makers. Is that something that’s just innate, or can it be learned? If it’s the latter, do you have any tutorials on that, or know of any?
Thanks Dave! In your video every time i find something interesting to me. Dave, can you in one TK Friday make training in portrait photo? So interesting how work with skin.
Yes I will have to work on that. I haven't done much work lately with portraits so I will need to brush up on it. The Frequency Separation action will definitely come in handy with portraits, but I find you can use it on all types of photography.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly The frequency separation i use all the time. Maybe you will find some interesting tips which we can use with portrait. Your videos are very exciting and helpful. Thank you very much for what you are doing!
Thanks again Dave. Where I'm still a bit confused is when u do the mask calculator, there is a step where you x out of the current. It seems non intuitive to me. maybe you could go a little slower there with a bit more explanation.
The next time I use the calculator I will slow down at that step. Thanks for pointing that out.
Wouldn’t a frequency separation effect have worked on the brown trees? Simpler?
Possibly, there are so many different ways of doing things in Photoshop and with the TK8 Plug-in. I like to show all of the different options giving everyone their own choices.
Sorry Dave, but I’m struck by the incongruity of the warm colors of the mountain and foreground, but the cold colorless sky! By that, I mean, where do these warm “golden hour” colors come from? Certainly not from that cloudy sky.
Bottom line: you have a total mis-match in the coloration and warmth between the sky and the land. This sky needs to be replaced by one that’s at least semi-realistic.
This calls to mind some lyrics from a song by Andrea True!
How do you like it? How do you like it?
Thanks Ralph.
David, how much RAM do you have?
I have 32gb of RAM.
I am new to photoshop, have new Apple Mac Book Pro with 32Gm memory (M1 chip). when following your video I run out of memory (RAM) when all apps closed and 1/2 through your video. Apple is no help, any ideas?
@@patrickkeeley2675 I am not sure. It seems strange that you would be running out RAM memory. 32gb is a fair amount of memory, I would think that 8 or 16 should also work but 32 should be excellent. . I am surprised Apple can’t help. Did you call Apple care and actually talk to a tech? I am thinking that most likely you are still under warranty?
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly thanks
Anyone else missing the 'Object Selection Tool'?
It is probably nested in with the Quick Selection tool.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly It's strange, if I change my workspace to one of the PS templates it's available within the Q selection tool. But if I go back to my personally created workspace for editing on two screens, the option disappears. It's as if I need to update this tool somehow in my workspace from a previous version.
@@whitphotography look for the (ellipse …) in your list of tools. Right Click on it. This is how you can edit your tool bar. You should find the object selection tool in there. I believe you can LEFT click it and drag it into your Tool Bar.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Found it. Had to go to 'Edit' > 'Toolbar'. It was in 'Extra Tools' so just had to drag it into the Quick Selection tool area.
Thanks!
Thank you.
