    Glad to see the oven cleaner didn't do damage to the aluminium casting. I was worried it would. Maybe only if it is left too long. Cheers.

    Make sure the optimiser is all the way in . If you look on the side there is a hole for air to travel through. If the optimiser is not push all the way in air can’t travel ? It’s in the side where the optimiser goes small little hole . 👍

    There may be burn residue in the steel wool type material inside the burn chamber below the disc which could cause a problem or two. The diffuser mesh on the glow plug can be removed with an 8mm coach bolt, mine had got well stuck after burning some used gearbox oil and reclaimed diesel, I used a pick as you did and it was well mangled, wish I'd known about the bolt trick then. A pencil with a rubber makes a good insertion tool for the mesh. The burn chamber gasket is a metal material but most glow plugs seem to be supplied with green paper gaskets, not sure if this is a 5kwh/8kwh thing, mine's supposed to be an 8 but some youtubers are claiming there's no difference between them.

    When you put in your new atomizer did you check the little hole intake at the side to see if it was fully at home. When you look in the little hole you should not see any gauze

    Hello nice and educational videos.
    I actually want to do the same as you I have a lot of hv22 32 and 46 .
    And I actually expect that once that burns well hot that this oil will hardly stick.
    However, your videos tell a different story.
    I may have seen a few points of attention.
    The heater is mounted on its side, I can imagine that the oil in the burner runs in a different way.
    No idea if this is a problem though.
    The following may be the problem.
    most oils thicken when cold.
    I saw that your hvi46 is very cold.
    This obviously gives pumping difficulties, but even more so the flame in the burner has to get the oil to the burning point before it ignites and therefore the final temperature in the burner will be lower than with preheated oil.
    I would heat the oil tank with the exhaust of the heater, this does not help when starting the heater.
    But shortly after that it will be a difference.
    Wrap a piece of copper around the exhaust preferably before the pump.
    Made possible by google translate haha

    Next time I need to clean mine I will try. I will removing the glow plug and screen. Then pour pea rock, water and dawn dish soup in the exhaust outlet. Shake the crap out of it. I am thinking it is worth a try.

    Sounds like the silencer is knackered, I'd look inside an see if spring coil inside is still fixed or loose if it does it again

    That sounded like mine when it’s running too rich. Think you are going in the right direction. 😀 What are the settings you are using? I wonder if your issue was the glow plug rather than being dirty? mine looked like that when it stopped working. 😟

    • @jamesbrokentech
      @jamesbrokentech  Рік тому

      thanks, seems like its finally working properly again. im running 1.4 -4.6 -1500-4500.
      obviously the glow plug glows when powered but do you think its kept red hot during operation by the combustion?

  • @chrishartley1210
    @chrishartley1210 Рік тому

    I was going to suggest you check the inlet pipe. It sounded just like mine when it got water in it. The air being sucked through a water trap makes very peculiar noises and the excess water being pulled into the combustion chamber makes it smoke. I also wonder if that's why it would only run on its side - trying to draw more water through the air inlet pipe in the upright position.

    • @jamesbrokentech
      @jamesbrokentech  Рік тому

      that's a good thing to check. i dont usualy run mine with the air filter pipe connected but i did check and it was all dry.

      @bigoldgrizzly Рік тому +1

      Be a bit careful of products containing caustic soda as this eats aluminium pretty quickly, over use or soaking in it, will soo wreck aluminium parts . It is fine on steel though and great at removing oily deposits

    That ruffle roaring could be the pump is giving too much diesel to the heater element and partially drowning it before it burns off. Hence the smoking.

    Great stuff, James. Did you remember to clean out the little air hole on the side that goes in to the gauze atomizer & glow plug? I never seem to see people cleaning these, except David McLuckie. Maybe they do and just don't show it. Apparently gives essential air to create a clean burn on the atomizer. Thanks for the videos.

    im pretty sure the ring in the burner wont come out this time ,is because the last time you cleaned it out ,you heated the burner with a torch ,making the metal expand ,i reckon if you heated it again with torch it would pop out :)
