I'll only dilute oils from now and due to smell, no transmission fluids.
Great job showing proof of work, couple bits to iron out. The bars don't indicate current temp, this is the temp setting, you adjust it with up and down arrows. There's an option to show the manifold temperature by pressing the "ok" button. Also, point exhaust down below the unit with no upward bends. you get a lot of condensation with diesel, more with "alternative" fuels and restricts the flow and causes flame outs. And lastly, use the twin peaks or "mountain" setting by pressing and holding "ok + lamp symbol" to activate. What this does is slow the frequency of pulses to allow the oil to burn leaner. Second year user, I have three units and experienced 100% waste oil straight from an oil change shops tank, only filtered with provided chynese filter. Biofuel will coke the manifold and exhaust, motor oils haven't this far for me. Cheers and subbed!

if you go to a motorcycle outlet you can buy strawberry or chocolate scented 2 stroke oil, I had complaints about my diesel generator smelling but once I added some strawberry scented 2 strike oil the complaints stopped.
Ive seen ppl use old engine oil in diesels a long time as long as its not too thick and mixed near 50/50 usually will be fine. . Its free energy!! A Point to consider here is when selecting oil for you engine get 5-20WT oils or 0-20WT. That will be better to use as when its life span is done, the thinner oil will be more easier for the pump to push thru tube to atomizer.
A good way to check how efficiently any one of these heaters is burning is to measure the Exhaust gas for CO "Carbon Monoxide" with a flue gas analyser.. Auto Diesel creates 32ppm Co & No Smoke.. 28 second heating oil creates 29ppm Co & No smoke.. A 60/40 mix of Auto Diesel/Used engine oil "filtered" creates 90ppm & 0-1 using a smoke gun... These were tested with the heater having operated for 10 minutes to thoroughly warm up.. The combustion air inlet hose filter was positioned 100cm away from the Exhaust outlet in a very well ventilated area.
I believe that we have the same model of heater, and if you hold both the up and down arrows, while the heater is on standby (powered, but not running); it will run just the pump to prime the system.
Thanks for the testing. I wonder about starting on diesel, valve to switch over to oil, switch back to diesel before shut down. Probably the oil would work even better if arranged to pre-heat with the exhaust heat.
I set mine up like that. I have the Chinese unit that has the tank built in for diesel then i T’d in a 50L tank that has a 3” exhaust pipe going through it that I hooked up to the heat duct to heat the oil. I have yet to try it out to see if it works. I was also thinking about putting a little 12v heating element in the intake to preheat the air coming in to the burn chamber to help with burning the oil. Another thing I will try if the oil doesn’t burn is adding 5% gasoline.
For proof of concept I started on diesel let it run almost out then I filled it up with oil and I aimed the flexible duct at the tank and put a blow dryer near the intake and it stayed running for the full tank
It also helps to go into advanced settings and turn the fuel pump down for oil but leave the fan speed the same as factory. At first I tried raising the fan speed and dropping the fuel mixture and it started flaming out the exhaust so now I just do that for short periods of time to clean out the chamber
I saw a guy edit the programmed settings to either turn down the fuel pump or turn up the fan as waste oil has more energy per unit that diesel so it tends to overfuel on the stock settings
a buddy of mine ran his old diesel car on a mixture of waste engine oil and other used car related oils mixed with 10% gasoline. The gasoline was mainly in order to be able to filter it, and that ran fine for years. So maybe a suggestion to what mixtures you could try if you go for waste oil
A mix of 22% gasoline and 78% waste engine oil that has been filtered to 5 micron is a drop in replacement for diesel in a mechanical injection diesel......do not use hydraulic oil as it has anti-friction additives that don't burn and turn into a ash cokes up the cylinder head and precombustion chamber in an indirect injection diesel to the point that it doesn't run very well after a few hundred miles, engine oil doesn't have these additives.
yeah, well, you dont want to look at the insides of that engine. That will probably be completely black. You say it ran fine for years. But i promise you: It was for sure not used daily for many miles a day. It was used for the occasional trip around the block. Try what you said in this heater. Try waste oil, etc etc. Check David Mcluckie. He just came out with a new video on diesel heaters burning waste oil. It is pretty obvious what is going to happen to the heater. So a car running on such garbage?????? Sure, it will run for some time, maybe even years. Depending on how much you use it. But for sure it is gonna clog up channels that should be open.
ps: and the rebuilding of an engine might be more expensive than burning the correct fuel. But, it all depends on where you live, what you use the car for, etc etc.
@@bertjesklotepino I know from personal experience that as long as you are running used engine oil cut with approximately 20 to 23% gas (to make it the same viscosity as diesel) that has been filtered to 5 micron or less you won't have issues even after some 100k miles.....try it with hydraulic oil and your going to be looking at a rebuild in about 5k miles or less......
While it may run, the aim should include a reasonable time between services. I saw a vid of someone using lots of waste in their fuel -it worked but needed a decoke after a week. Someone else ran five minutes on clean diesel then switched over to mix, and back to virgin diesel for a five minute run down. -His was spotless after months.
That's why Im toying with the idea of making a dual pump controller. Clean diesel in a tank, whatever else in the other. Start and stops with clean diesel, but run on any mixture of the 2 tanks
59 seconds in and i'm already in love....I'm watching this after a power cut, during which I made a cup of tea using a camping lamp.... which reminds me, I should post up my video of running the VFR off aftershave.
For Oil you need to change the Fuel / Air ratio. If you can programm more fanspeed and less pump frequency. Better to have to much air than to much fuel because of the toxic CO
been finding my feet running used hydraulic fluid. flame outs on startup have been a big issue. reducing the max pwm and fan speed seem to be iorning the problems out. video is coming soon
Build an outdoor enclosed bench where your blue chair is. Put thr heater in there with the heat venting into your house. Add additional metal pipe on thr exhaust to go the length of your outdoor enclosed bench. Cove the exhaust pipe with sand. You have a headed out door bench via the exhaust and a cool case for your heater
ive run mine the same way as he has his bolted onto a board in a window for 8 years now with no issues ... there is 2 positions they can run in ... how he has his and with the ports out the bottom
My understanding is it will run on different fuels and blends, but then you have to clean out the crap from inside the burner. Have you run into that problem yet?
I read a text a few days ago that said to try 10% petrol per Ltr to thin the oil. I enjoyed your video and wonder what works out cheapest? Great fun lol
I'd be curious to know if it burns measurably longer with, say, 2/3 oil:1:3 diesel than just the same amount of diesel alone. Basically, is the oil providing any actual benefit other than burning off and running dirty?
Check out the latest presentation by Robert Murray-Smith ua-cam.com/video/ZZg6hirk9r0/v-deo.html . He describes the conversion of used cooking oil to a biofuel without methanol or other chemicals apart from paraffin. He uses pork gelatin as a clearing agent for the cooking oil.
Diesel engines work fine with 20% used vegetable oil to 80% dino diesel. Older indirect injection engines can handle higher ratios so a simple drip burner should be good.
Just think in many many years to come people going to look back at this video in horror and amazement how we did not blow up using such equipment. They won't know that how safe this is to have an exhaust reaching temperatures of 400 degrees blowing over a plastic container full of diesel with wires and fuel filled pipes all in the same area. I'm happy that I lived in the time gap that I have, long live the safest of the unsafetyness
I would make sure if using veg oil to run diesel afterward to clear up any veg oil on screen since it will turn gummy and tree sap like if left exposed to air long enough.
Hi, thanks for this interesting video, considering to buy to me as well to put it in garage... Anyway, shouldn´t be that container with oil placed always above the heater? And if I am not wrong, some 45 degrees recommended. In your video the pump is sucking the oil from lower level, but I guess, better would be to install it above the heater...
They say that Biodiesel produces less particular pollution and maybe because it burns hotter? run it first then a mix of it with the used oil & hydraulics followed by a burn of just biodiesel?
recommendations: run 50 percent fuel oil (or diesel / jet A / kerosene), 40 percent strained / filtered waste oil / veg oil / etc, and 10 percent max petrol (for the higher heat and carbon removing properties) if you are afraid of failure, have TWO systems set up, so that you can switch to the second if the first fails. if 12 volt system, run both from the same 12v battery that is hard wired to a 6 amp minimum battery charger / battery tender (this because of power failure .. the system draws 2 to 3 amps at full load) keep everything except the remote fuel tank INSIDE the heated space. that is not all
try to run on 100% heated oil and switch the fuelpump from diesel to oil when the burner is hot. Run heater for atleast 5 min. Heat up the oil to about 70-80 degree celcius first end pour it in another cup and just move the fuelpump to this cup and see if it will run
Can you run Naptha (white gas), toluene, xylene, paint spirits (new) Tiki torch fuel, alcohol, Kerosene or acetone and could you run any of those straight no mixing ? I can get those free at the county household hazardous waste disposal unit.
Sounded like it was getting ready for take off 😂 I'm in the research stage of getting one of these . I think I'll definitely invest in a model with a quieter fan and opt for the silent pump and definitely can the so called "muffler" . I'm definitely curious as to how well it does using used engine oils since I have a friend who does automotive repair and free access to lots of used oil which I'd run through a filter first . Was planning on building a waste oil heater until I stumbled upon these wonderful machines .
The real problem is trying to run them at minimun speed. For instance, in a shed or camper. half speed to full speed works ok with most anything. Hardest so far is 15w40 full syntectic amsoil oil. 90% that and 10%premium gasoline. I suggest getting one with a old controller as you can adjust settings. This is my current limitation in my exploration on those. Older controller can also work with afterburner, a better manageament system
@@Nordic_Mechanic People should just run them full speed, much cleaner and burning all the fuel. If they want to be more efficient they should buy a 2KW instead of a 5KW and burn that 2kw at full speed, it's only a little over a liter for 4 hours of burn time @ full speed on a 2kw. Then again 2kw is only good for a very small camper or a van. I'm using a 5kw in my shed and it's having a hard time keeping up (uninsulated).
@johnwyman6126 go over to "lowered expectations" UA-cam channel and you can watch over 30 in depth videos about how they absolutely will not run on waste oil for any length of time over 6-12ish hours without a full tear down and cleaning. He's also in the process of building a modified combustion chamber so it will actually work.
If you switched from diesel to oil while the heater was at full operating temperature you would have a better chance of it burning the oil and it not just 'flaming out' or smoking on start up..
There was another guy can't recall his name a youtuber he used a small amount of jellotin and water to clean out the impurities in wvo but would probably work with waste oil also cheap and easy a little water in your fuel will only help clean the chamber!
What you are not taking into consideration is New car oil has a higher viscosity than old oil 55% old oil 40% diesel or paraffin 5% petrol if you use paraffin because it's not as refined like diesel 😉
From the videos I have been watching, everyone uses these wrong. They are not made to take in outside air and heat it into a closed space. They are made to take in and recirculate heated air already being heated in a closed space for best efficacy. These are really cabin heaters for vehicles and small campers, not regular homes. I do however find them interesting as a portable option if used the way they are intended. Also, the recirculated air will get much hotter.
The efficacy might be increased, but you will dry out the internal air. That is why people take air from the outside as it has a higher moisture content.
While from an efficiency perspective reheating internal air is best , in fact bringing in outside air reduces the moisture content within a home. With a truck its not always possible to prevent engine smells etc comi g in the inlet pipe hence using cabin air. I measured humidity levels at home and even without the 2ltrs per hour on a average 2 people will exhale my home humidity went down from 65 to 50 percent as I guess damp air was pushed out through air gaps.
i dont think the heater will run very long on other than clean fuel like diesel, kerosene, terpenten etc. not used motor oil and vegetable oil as it only burn/evaporate clean above 300celcius especially the glycerine in the vegetableoil. im currently trying to preheat waste vegetableoil from running fuelline through gills in on the burnchamber
i ran mine for 2 whole seasons on chip fryer oil and unleaded fuel blend with no issues just filtering the oil and mixing it down with the unleaded works fine no carbon issues
@@robburdack4361 Okay what mix worked for you? did you change settings, i only have mountainmode on mine, and burns better but waste a lot through exhaust. i have a bit of problems running mine on wvo mix diesel and gasoline - though i broke some gills of the burner and stuck a cobber u- pipe so now he fuel is around 50celcius burns a lot better and now 10-15% hotter around 180c like before with only pure diesel.
It will burn anything oilbased. motoroil, gearoil, vegetable oil, palmoil, frying oil, all of them used or not. Only the viskosity in regards to the pump, would be an issue. (why used is better) I'm not sure about oilbased paint though. ;) Only difference is the resulting temp and cleaning. But it will burn anything. Same with (especially old) diesel generators. (and cars)
I used one of these heaters for my house last winter. the trick is not getting them to run on oil or blend, it's getting them to run long hours on it without clagging up. All the oil combinations I tried would clag the heater up in a day and the performance would downgrade quickly. They tend to foul internally because they cannot burn hot enough to remove the deposits. I would like to find a way to run these long term on waste oil but knowing how these heaters work in the burner section, I have my doubts it can be done.
Since when has 30ml (about 1m 15s) and 100ml made 150ml? Not very scientific, I would suggest - and using a near half-litre jug to measure it is asking for large errors. How long it might run, without sooting up , is entirely a different matter. Oh, btw, you have the machine upside down?
Waste oil has a overabundance of energy. Start the heater on a blend of diesel in a small tank with a larger inline valved tank full of filtered 3% detergent additive gas mixed waste oil. After it heats up for a few switch to the waste oil. Adjust the fan and flow rates til the burn is efficient enough to show a somewhat clean exhaust gas out.. near free fuel for heat. That waste oil... it gets burned at a waste processing plant I think it might as well make it your process! May be illegal in your area.😁 Check your laws.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME - that burner exhaust is not vented and these heaters produce high levels of Carbon Monoxide.. Also the fuel to air combustion ratio is fixed with these, if you change to a fuel of higher calorific value the mixture will run rich and produce more CO. Kerosene is probably the only other fuel to diesel that is equivalent........
Garages used to be able to use oil heaters using used oil, now under the guise of "climate change", they are banned and garages have to pay to dispose of used engine oil, guess what happens to said oil?
They use it in shipping oil. So those nice EVs and cheap Chinese crap can burn 95 litres every 24hrs on a boat to the west. Same with 200k litre per dumper truck to strip mine for lithium.
there If people follow the typical guides for making "black diesel" they should be fine. Centrifuge the WMO, mix 70% oil to 30% gasoline and then filter at 2 micron. Synthetic waste engine oil doesnt burn as well as old skool mineral, so use less in the blend.
They do... Just mix with a small amount of Diesel/Petrol and warm it up (Filter the old oil first), also you can pre start with Kerosene or paraffin! In line filters for both and a Y connector for both fuel types with auto switch on a timer (5 mins on start up fuel then it switches to old oil mix) Ran mine like this for a year then a strip down clean in summer, NOT to dirty either inside!
try adding Kerosene with your hydraulic oil as its lighter than diesel…and burns hotter… might counteract the oils high flash point.? road diesels no2 n kero is equiv of diesel no1 … thinner, burns hotter but has less calorific value/energy. the kero might get the burn started easier than 100% oil and help keep it running. i would speculate using oils with high flash points would leave a residue in the combustion chamber, that being the additives in whatever oil you’re using…. you’d prob only know once its packed in n strip it out …what about trying ‘biodiesel’ or straight veg oil/ kero mix? can get a 205ltr barrel of kero for around a quid a litre ( anybody know where can buy cheaper in 205Ltr drums ?)
@@gordontomaszewski1420 That is not the point if everyone thought like that we would in a very bad state. This is demonstrated by those who do not stick to speed limits.
@@g7mks383 Its only illegal because the gov can't tax it. what do you think happens to the waste oil generated by shops? Its sold and burned. If i had neighbors like you id move.
Unless you can get some of your fuel ingredients for free, why bother to experiment. In Canada, a gallon of kerosene cost just as much as diesel at the store. Another fuel similar but cheaper would be Jet A from your local airport. Jets are fuel versatile, and used to use kerosene, some use JP4, then it is Jet A today, all very similar, except the flame spread speed specs. Jet fuel are likely cheaper but with a little more quality control than you need for heating. Get it without the anti ice additive. You might have trouble getting it in Europe because they are not so aviation minded there. The other fuel you can try would be bunker "C" from your local port. If they just finished fueling up a ship, all you need are the left over inside the hose. It will be thicker oil , for you are talking about pistons the size of a small room.

-His was spotless after months.
indeed, ive just had to open it up to clean it. Im certainly experiencing the highs and lows before i film the next video

Build an outdoor enclosed bench where your blue chair is. Put thr heater in there with the heat venting into your house. Add additional metal pipe on thr exhaust to go the length of your outdoor enclosed bench. Cove the exhaust pipe with sand. You have a headed out door bench via the exhaust and a cool case for your heater
Although these heaters will run on their side it should be with the glow-plug situated at the top to avoid flooding by excess fuel.
ive run mine the same way as he has his bolted onto a board in a window for 8 years now with no issues ... there is 2 positions they can run in ... how he has his and with the ports out the bottom
That's really loud, I expected it to take flight. I haven't taken mine from it's box yet.
the microphone on my camera is a bit overly sensitive. you may find its not anywhere near as loud as it seems in the video
Have you taken it out and are using it yet?

Hi,how do you reduce pump pulse? Thanks😊
@@katarinaespwall8542 Secret menu in some controllers, there are UA-cam videos telling you how to do it.

This vid is about one of these heaters being taken apart after 3 yrs of running various oils. ua-cam.com/video/qpLhwuy9M9E/v-deo.html
Very interesting, i have wondered what ratio's would work, and im surprised, so ive subscribed, curious to see how it behaves on the hydro oil.
Diesel engines work fine with 20% used vegetable oil to 80% dino diesel. Older indirect injection engines can handle higher ratios so a simple drip burner should be good.
Good vid... You should warm up the oil first it works great then.
Live a little
Try throwing a lit match in a puddle of diesel. It's a whole lot different than a puddle of gasoline/petrol.
whre do u get chinese diesel ?
Aliexpress and Amazon and many others sell them
China 👍
I would make sure if using veg oil to run diesel afterward to clear up any veg oil on screen since it will turn gummy and tree sap like if left exposed to air long enough.
You didn't hear this from me because it's probably illegal on some federal level but you can run used engine oil in those have fun
Used diesel engine oil would be a lot thinner then new oil. If one were able to run it through a screening procedure. Might that work better?
They say that Biodiesel produces less particular pollution and maybe because it burns hotter? run it first then a mix of it with the used oil & hydraulics followed by a burn of just biodiesel?
Could you try the same test but at level 1 heat? That's where the problems usually show up. These things need to be run on low settings quite often
recommendations: run 50 percent fuel oil (or diesel / jet A / kerosene), 40 percent strained / filtered waste oil / veg oil / etc, and 10 percent max petrol (for the higher heat and carbon removing properties) if you are afraid of failure, have TWO systems set up, so that you can switch to the second if the first fails. if 12 volt system, run both from the same 12v battery that is hard wired to a 6 amp minimum battery charger / battery tender (this because of power failure .. the system draws 2 to 3 amps at full load) keep everything except the remote fuel tank INSIDE the heated space. that is not all
Is it OK to mount the heater sideways or upside down?
Haven't bought one yet and am a bit curious how they handle.
It's OK to mount sideways as long as the glow plug is at the top.
try to run on 100% heated oil and switch the fuelpump from diesel to oil when the burner is hot.
Great experiments.....many thanks for this.
Anyone out there ever try Bio-Diesel from used veggie oil on this type of heater? any issues? 50:50 with low sulfur diesel maybe..
there are a few videos on youtube from people doing just that.
What about used engine oil with diesel or kerosene?
the one bar of heat is actually the setting you got it on.
I would think to run it on highest setting.
Should’ve started on diesel. Then switch while it’s running. . Then switch back to diesel. While shutting off.?????
The pump is always this loud??
You didn't thin it with brake parts cleaner. I was looking forward to that part :/
Sounded like it was getting ready for take off 😂
I'm in the research stage of getting one of these .
These don't run waste oil well. This video is false advertising.
@@plainandsimple1 Well tell us your personal EXPERIENCE with doing this, Including how you adjusted the air fuel ratios for the highest temperature.
@johnwyman6126 go over to "lowered expectations" UA-cam channel and you can watch over 30 in depth videos about how they absolutely will not run on waste oil for any length of time over 6-12ish hours without a full tear down and cleaning. Runaway diesel have you had problems with it not switching off
We drove a diesel Kombi on 70% vege oil and 30% diesel.
Taxi-ing on the runway nicely 👌 😍🤣
Where are you going to find used hydraulic oil? You rebuild hydraulic cylinders or something?
I got hold of tons ( a 200l drum) of 20 year old synthetic two stroke oil... mixed with diesel 1:4 ratio hope it wont gunk up the heater... wel see...
Do these heaters run okay on their side? I thought they needed to be upright with the exhaust coming out the bottom?
Yes but one side is worse because of the glow plug screen they run every direction except for one!
drop of gasoline could make the oil burn better, old trick to make at least diesel ignite in colder temps.
The exhaust pipe through the fuel tank preheating👍
If you switched from diesel to oil while the heater was at full operating temperature you would have a better chance of it burning the oil and it not just 'flaming out' or smoking on start up..
how about gasonline and kerosene?
Is your motor oil standard or synthetic. I only use full synthetic in my vehicles and was wondering if this will burn.
Ive read that synthetic will not work. Ill be switching my vehicles to "normal" oil
I thought it was illegal to burn used engine oil in UK?
There was another guy can't recall his name a youtuber he used a small amount of jellotin and water to clean out the impurities in wvo but would probably work with waste oil also cheap and easy a little water in your fuel will only help clean the chamber!
This is a short term solution. I assure everyone checking this that soot will build up in the burn chamber until it doesnt work
will one run on vegetable oil ?
What you are not taking into consideration is New car oil has a higher viscosity than old oil 55% old oil 40% diesel or paraffin 5% petrol if you use paraffin because it's not as refined like diesel 😉
Ps run on diesel full power before shut to clean all the crap out of it ready for next start up
I think if the feed oil is preheated the better the chance of burning thixker oils
Cooking oil mix???? 🤔
Holy smokes I thought she was going to have lift off there for a minute. LoL
So basically what your saying is everything gas safety says about requiring fresh air for combustion is wrong?
While from an efficiency perspective reheating internal air is best , in fact bringing in outside air reduces the moisture content within a home. With a truck its not always possible to prevent engine smells etc comi g in the inlet pipe hence using cabin air. I measured humidity levels at home and even without the 2ltrs per hour on a average 2 people will exhale my home humidity went down from 65 to 50 percent as I guess damp air was pushed out through air gaps.
No matter what others say, A diesel heater is not made for using other fuels.. U only get troubles whenu use other fuels.
try oil with regular gasoline, 5:1 oil to gas ratio.
What about synthetic oils?
ive read it wont work,
i dont think the heater will run very long on other than clean fuel like diesel, kerosene, terpenten etc. not used motor oil and vegetable oil as it only burn/evaporate clean above 300celcius especially the glycerine in the vegetableoil. im currently trying to preheat waste vegetableoil from running fuelline through gills in on the burnchamber
i ran mine for 2 whole seasons on chip fryer oil and unleaded fuel blend with no issues just filtering the oil and mixing it down with the unleaded works fine no carbon issues
@@mnp3713 can that pump handle the hot oil?
@@makingcookingfixing the heated oil line is on the line after the pump :)
Slow the oil feed rate down, speed up the air flow. When you see smoke you need less fuel more air.
(and cars)
The manufacture says it runs on diesel only.
It is not recommended to burn used oil.

This vid is about one of these heaters being taken apart after 3 yrs of running various oils. ua-cam.com/video/qpLhwuy9M9E/v-deo.html
Mix ten percent petrol with the oil
Prime the entire fuel line with pure diesel first to get burner "warmed up"
these units will practically run on anything flammable!
Subbed to see how good it runs on oil
Wow thanks for sharing 👍🏿
25% petrol and 75% waste engine oil would be about bang on the money I recon
there If people follow the typical guides for making "black diesel" they should be fine. Centrifuge the WMO, mix 70% oil to 30% gasoline and then filter at 2 micron. Synthetic waste engine oil doesnt burn as well as old skool mineral, so use less in the blend.
I start mine out with dieasel then switch to waste oil works great
Guys the problem with mixing with gas is that you are breathing all that crap while you mix it , gasoline evaporates too much
Has anyone ran one on 100% wvo?
Certainly a noisy thing, I never seen one of those heaters
It will love used engine oil
How did you do the timer?
y-valva, tank oinly oldoil., first tank diesel, when tempersature is reachen open y valve and mix in the cheap stuff
David mcluckie tested 50 percent wvo 50 percent petrol without issues!
very helpful, thank you
try adding Kerosene with your hydraulic oil as its lighter than diesel…and burns hotter… might counteract the oils high flash point.? road diesels no2 n kero is equiv of diesel no1 … thinner, burns hotter but has less calorific value/energy. the kero might get the burn started easier than 100% oil and help keep it running. i would speculate using oils with high flash points would leave a residue in the combustion chamber, that being the additives in whatever oil you’re using…. you’d prob only know once its packed in n strip it out …what about trying ‘biodiesel’ or straight veg oil/ kero mix? can get a 205ltr barrel of kero for around a quid a litre ( anybody know where can buy cheaper in 205Ltr drums ?)
I probably would have started at 50/50

70/30 bud but start pure dev finish on pure but don’t get caught
