Awesome as ever, your videos inspired me to custom paint a couple of small panels on one bike...now I'm ready to tackle fairings on my other bike (CBF1000) - I have one question for you though, if you don't mind: I want to paint three colours on the main fairings: The original pearl white, with a candy royal blue section in the middle (like a very wide stripe) and a deep red or bronze (candy) border line (about 6-10mm)for the blue section. I know I need to basecoat (silver pearl) for all the colours - but what order should I be painting in? I was thinking: Primer, silver pearl base, paint the area of the border line without masking anything, intercoat, mask over that with fine line tape to get my line, another coat or two of silver base, candy blue section, then mask that off White Clearcoat Does that even make sense?? :D
You mentioned you may sand out the flat clear and shoot another coat. How did that go? I understand if the thickness is different the ‘shine will be different with the matte clear, and unless you sand it all evenly it will look streaky or splotchy. I shoot normal clear and then just one or two coats of matte and pray for no trash.... and live with it if I were to get any... would like to know if I have bad info! Lmk. Great vid Btw. one more thing; with your cutter software you can curve the images so they apply straight to a round surface. It takes some fiddling but makes applying a breeze cause they don’t bunch up and also words or names, for example, can look perfectly straight even on a round surface. The hard part is the helmet isn’t a perfect sphere.... and every brand is different, but you will get a feel for it... and close is 100 times better than trying to curve a sticker that is cut for a flat surface!
Thanks for your videos. Question... Do you have to clean the sticker residue off before spraying the clear? And similarly, clean where your hand touched the helmet while applying and removing the stickers? If so, how do you know WHEN you can safely clean it, and with what cleaner?
Hi. Can you recommend a clear matte finishing coat? For someone who isn't a professional? I'm an artist and I'd like to do my own helmet. I'm not sure what to use so it doesn't get scratched up.
A S I use House of Kolor FC21 with KUF21 catalyst for ultra high end jobs. If you want a waterborne clear that’s much safer, cheaper, and forgiving, try Scenix SSR 7031 matte clear. Obviously the waterborne stuff is nowhere near the 2k clears but with matte finish the difference isn’t nearly as big as with gloss.
I never understood why if you only want the copper for the shapes under the stickers, why dont you just paint that area of the helmet copper instead of all the helmet?
Edges. They show up under the black. And unless the paint is really opaque it can also change the color. It can be done but only if you know the top color is very opaque, you fade out so no edges on the ground color, and you know exactly what and where you are going to mask. Honestly it’s just easier to hit the whole thing. And, with a color like yellow, for example, even over say silver on a white helmet, the yellow will be a different color over white vs silver, even after 10 coats.... most helmets have a skeleton set of lines that create an outline of each section.... after that is done, then you obviously wouldn’t paint the whole helmet just the section that had the masking.... but still the whole section, for the same reason.
Which one of these ---> vgautopaints.com.au/collections/thinners-cleaners Is a slow urethane reducer suitable to put in a raptor liner. I keep scratching my helmet and want to coat it with raptor.
Not good at stickers. ? You are fuc...g brilliant man. But after my taste, it should have been High gloss. The effect would have been mutch nicer. If your freind wants a Carbon helmet, he should buy a real Carbon helmet. They are so light, he will love it. And they only cost 25-40% more.
Awesome! Love the frequency of the vids mate!
I'd have loved it with the gloss clear on it, the dragons really came to life when the matt was wet.
But on the whole, a cracking video man.
half gloss and matt?

Ron Anderson some times I use water. On this I just cleaned with a tack rag. This is a low tack vinyl so there was no residue.
You can clean it after 20 minutes
Hi what K2 paint do you use non isocyanates ?
What kind of sticker did you use?

Where I find the sticker u can print on at home?
Jhon Shmit you will need a cutting machine. Then you just use vinyl
@@customspraymods so for Hobby it's easyer to order online, the machine probably cost trillion, especially here in Switzerland.
Thank for the answer
