theres lot of different technics in there - so much work - so much love in the detail ... professional - i wanna start too . but have only low equipment
i have read that Snell has in its standard that the helmet can be painted . however you need to block the vents because if the clear or solvant based paint(authomotive paint) gets in it will destroy the foam inside . (as show by a vid here on youtube)
@GixxerDracs hey mate. thanks. I just taped over the sticker. I dont know the laws about painting helmets for road use. I was due for a new one so this is just for display now.
Looks great, matching bike next ? I think there is some laws re painting your helmet in victoria though and only some types of paint and requires new void stickers to keep it ADR compliant i think
at the beginning of the video I was thinking "its going to come up ugly" but at the end I was looking on the coments trying to find Dave's number so I can ask him to custom paint my helmet. Amazing, wonderful, great job!!!
Hi , beautiful work. A question please.. at exactly 05:07 you have used a black base paint on Crystals. What type of paint is it ? Is it acrylic or urethane ? Thank you.
It looks like AIRBRUSH STENCIL SELF ADHESIVE VINYL www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BUY-2-GET-1-FREE-A4-1m-ROLL-AIRBRUSH-STENCIL-SELF-ADHESIVE-VINYL-FABLON-FILM-/200744256084?var=&hash=item2ebd4a4254:m:m6-syC0k_1O4vriU_ElTODQ
Awesome job but He lost me after doing the course silver paint. I still have no idea how he ended up with that helmet at the end, also where did the skulls (2:43) go?
Nice work! Would have looked better at the end if you put a dark visor on it instead of the mirror one. I used to have this exact helmet so it was cool to see it get a make over..
Beautiful work! Looking at doing my first one in the coming weeks! Have an idea and I think doing your own is great, it's unique to yourself.....just hope I don't screw it up.
Oi bom dia queria saber qual nome dessa fita que vc usa pra fazer os conrornos. A só lembrando gostei do seu trabalho no capacete parabéns vc é um excelente profissional espero chega a fazer uma obra de arte igual a essa sua um dia kk
Hi Dave, Did you just tape over the Aust Standards or did you end up putting a new sticker on? Doesn't the paint thinners destroy the structural integrity of the helmet?? Love the work on the helmet! Looks awesome! Thanks
First step you said painted black, was that black primer or like a base coat? I have been painting helicopters and aircraft parts and its a process that never changes so I do not get to try new colors or techniques or other types of paint than what we always use on the aircraft so I want to start trying other things and types of paint.
Wow pretty awesome : ) I´m trying to custom my helmet but the varnish thing is giving me a hard time always like an orange peel, Maybe im applying too little varnish : /
I have kind of a two part question here, my apologies if you have answered it before. I have been having a hard time getting my airbrush colors to lay down and stick on some of my projects, even using a flat black paint. I am using Createx Wicked with little reducer and even no reducer at times. What am I doing wrong on this? I prime everything of course. Also, how would you go about airbrushing something that is already painted, like a car that has been done, say someone wants something added to their car and it has the factory clear coat. How do you paint on that and what do you recommend I use for paint for something like that?
Not sure why the paint is not laying down, what is happening? It may be incompatible primer or silicone in the air or a number of things. If you have clearcoat you want to paint over just scuff with fine scotchbrite pads then spray adhesion promoter, then apply the paint.
Hi dayan, I've been airbrushing with the createx line for a couple of years now, and what could help you is heat curing the paint after the apply, using a hairdrier. Wicked and Auto Air being water based tend to be a bit more finicky, also make sure the base is scuffed. Look up Simon Murray, he's done a lot of videos with the createx line that could help you. If you it still isn't sorted you might want to join the Createx, Wicked and Auto Air users group on facebook, im an admin there and we've got 6700 members with many professional custom painters. Hope this helps you
I wish i have your talent in art and painting i have soo many idea but unable to make it real such as movistar blue candy with white lines or anime/character helmet
Hi Dave I'm using you videos to learn how to paint. What do you use to remove the residue left behind from the masking tape When using acrylic paint thanks in advance
Have you done any painting of the shield where you can still see through where the paint is? I am wanting to DIY a helmet and this is the one thing that I am not sure how to do.
Siiiiick!! I have an old retired Shoei, been wanting to have a go at custom painted helmet - this makes me want to give it a shot! I was also wondering about how the paint would affect the shell, depends on what it's made from I suppose. Did you just prime over the existing paint/finish, or did you go back to the bare shell?
nice paint job, man! Question: How do you clear coat over the ventilation ports without making the vent slides get stuck or clogging the vent mesh with clear?
what do you put on the helmet for the star at 3:05? I am painting mine and I need to get some but I don't know what it is, how much it is or where to get it from Good job btw
Wow that was a lot of work, I just wanted to know how to paint some pink on the flowers on my helmet maybe with nail polish. Is this why some helmets cost $1000 and up? Looks great tho, was good to watch
theres lot of different technics in there - so much work - so much love in the detail ... professional - i wanna start too . but have only low equipment
man that must have taken like 10 hours to complete with so many layers and taping off. Great job came out awesome. Def one of a kind helmet.
