This video shows Graston technique (IASTM) self-treatment to the forearm. This video is more of a demonstration of how to use the tools to help soft tissue dysfunction by releasing scar tissue, and tension, and helping pain.
Graston and many other types of soft tissue therapy are designed to help improve the gliding and sliding of soft tissue between each other. This helps to reduce irritation and friction between tissues which will reduce the inflammation of the joint and surrounding regions.
While we do recommend you seek a professional, this type of technique can be shown and used at home to some extent.

Hey Doc, just came across your channel and appreciate you posting this. I'm a PTA and want to do this for my distal bicep tendon. What should be protocol 1-2 weekly and should ice be applied 15-20 minutes post therapy. Thank you for all this great useful info Doc!

Try to do 1-2x per week and then do some corrective exercises post treatment. You can finish with ice but I don't usually do that. Thanks for watching

So I’ve always had massage and found deep tissue myofascial release beneficial for my pain and restrictions. Those practitioners were always cross train with cupping, dry needles and graston. Recently I relocated. I had not had a practitioner graston me for several yrs. this practitioner however immediately thought graston would be a good technique to use on me. I’m so glad she did! I could not believe how much my forearms & calves improved.! I have had sore ankles and tendinitis in my elbow. I felt so much better and even saw my veins popping out more! I’m assuming that was due to a release in the tissue restriction that had probably been going on for awhile. Can u tell me if that sounds like a logical correlation? While I saw an improvement in my pain and symptoms. It gradually returned over the following few days. Thanks!
