do you believe ice massage is a good idea after a PT session involving graston/IASTM to limit post exercise inflammation? specifically for tendinopathy
If you’re getting any significant amount of inflammation something is not right. Otherwise I wouldn’t do anything. The goal is to bring blood to the area
Yes! Grastin can be used on the surrounding soft tissues to help break up scar tissue and promote healing in the surrounding structures. Hope this helps!
How does this help after surgery? I had radial introsious nerve and tendon lengthening done 2 weeks ago. Yesterday therapist ra that tool up n down scar. Talk about pain...yikes.
Helps to aligns scar tissue/collagen and draws blood to the area which allows for healing inside and outside the body. There is also a desensitization component and the discretion is ultimately up to the therapist. What you don't want is scar tissue adhesion that impedes neurological regeneration which takes time. Graston can be a useful tool in combination with functional massage and targeted modalities.
Overhead Athletics thanks. Was wondering why my therapist was doing it. Hurt like hell first 3 or 4 times. But its so much better now. Im a double amputee also. Will this help my old scars from skingrafts and stump scars?
judotapout I'm an amputee as well. Left leg just below the knee, half of right foot, and some finger tips. To answer your question It can help. I also have a video on scar tissue mobilization. It's very uncomfortable but a skilled therapist should be able to improve scar mobility.

Where did you purchase the tools from? I been trying to locate some of these tools
Graston! You have to take the course
How long does a Graston therapy session usually last? Thanks
It usually takes about 10min for the treatment!
How’s this on a pitcher who hasn’t had TJ but is in between bullpens?
It is fine but there maybe better techniques for them! Check out our video on medial elbow functional massage
Does this work for thickned and inflamated ulnar nerv?
No
Your nerve is probably being impinged by something? It might help if your nerve is being impinged by scar tissue
How often do you perform this on a post-surgery guy?
When necessary, not often.
let me guess completely heals it?
Good guess, only when we use our magic wands.
@@OverheadAthletics or just a dull cuticle cutter 🤷♂️
It seems you have a very jaded view of IASTM
Just get a butter knife out of the drawer …. And do it yourself.
